Scholarly history of how the education of Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison shaped their views and our nation's founding documents. This provides a unique perspective of early American history.

I appreciated the thorough research provided by the author as it really helped convey the significance of ancient philosophy when it comes to American government. I've read some of Jefferson's writings so I'm certainly not surprised that he was heavily influenced by Roman thinkers, but I did learn a lot about the other founding fathers covered.

I am unlikely to purchase this book for our library. It was not the book for me. Thanks to Harper Collins Publishers and NetGalley.
