This book is a good fit for readers who enjoy stories about second chances, apologies, and reconciliation in romantic relationships, particularly between former spouses.

I love a good second chance romance, and this was a great one! Grant and Katy both had to work on getting past what broke them up, and realizing that they were better together than apart!

Wow I'm just stunned with how good this title was. I just had so much fun reading this title and getting to along for the ride with these amazing characters. I'm so excited to see what's next from this author.

Subtlety, I know not your name.

Second chance romances are hit or miss for me anyway, but this book managed to be a miss. Reading an ARC means it might be uncorrected and unedited for the last, official, readthrough but this one seemed like someone just let it through without reading it. Everything was repeated a million times (her neighbor upstairs Xandra) and some of the words used during the smut scenes made me cringe. Did I see the connection between the two of them? No, even though it tried to beat me over the head with it.

This hot and steamy second chance romance was a fun quick read. Grant and Katy manage to ruin each other's hookups when they accidentally meet in an elevator and argue in front of them. Katy doesn't want her birthday to be without a little fun so she finds Grant and they decide they'll use each other instead. What could it hurt? They were married before and they know it's over. Or is it?

I enjoyed the sweetness and respect that still existed between them and they way they were careful with each other's feelings. They both seemed to have learned from their past mistakes and it was just a matter of time till they realized it. The steam factor is definitely hot in this one and the attraction is mutual. It felt a little like that was the main focus and if that's what you're looking for this book will rock your world! If you're in it for the story, you may be skipping a lot of pages.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Player's Game is the second book in The Player's Pact series.
Grant has it all, fame, fortune and his dream job as starting quarterback for his team. He's able to get any woman he wants... and he does, no strings, no commitments. He's been there, done that and still has the scars to prove it.
Katy is focused on he career, making it through law school and working at a prestigious firm have been her driving forces. Deep seated fears that she's not good enough to compete with her Ivy League colleagues have created tension and ultimately led to the end of her marriage. But Katy isn't over Grant and after a chance encounter created an opportunity to open the lines of communication she takes the risk. Because no one connects the way Grant and Katy do when there's nothing in between them but tangled limbs. Can they have a do over and get past the hurt to find each other again?

It's not quite a favorite, but i enjoyed the writing style and watching. I really liked the character of Grant, the love he still has for his ex wife and that even though he feels he is going to get hurt by accepting to help her, he puts his worries to the side and does everything to make sure she is protected. Katy on the other hand, the thing with his father and her lack of confidence in some areas was in some point frustrating! and i was quite surprices when i wasnt disappointed with the end!

Alice Gaines’ The Player’s Game is a sexy second chance sports romance that will certainly turn up the heat this summer.

Rich, successful and with no shortage of female admirers, NFL quarterback Grant leads a charmed life. He gets to spend his days doing something he is passionate about and his nights in the company of any of the women who throw themselves at him on a regular basis. Yet, Grant would give up all his money and fame if he could just have another chance with the woman he is head over heels in love with and whom he has been crazy about for most of his life: the one who got away, his ex-wife Katy.

Grant and Katy had met in college and had fallen for one another hard. They had got married and while Grant’s star on the sports field was in the ascendency, Katy was climbing up the career ladder and forging her own path. Having both been so focused on their careers, they had drifted apart and decided to go their own separate ways. But not even the distance between them could put out the flame of desire that sizzled between the pair of them.

When they run into one another again, giving into temptation quickly proves inevitable. But will Grant and Katy give their marriage another try? Or should they just resign themselves to the fact that their relationship belongs firmly in the past?

Alice Gaines’ The Player’s Game deftly blends drama, humour, emotion and sensuality in one sexy sizzler that will delight contemporary romance fans. Grant and Katy’s story is full of heat and heart and readers are sure to fall in love with these two nuanced, believable and compelling characters.

A fun romantic page-turner, The Player’s Game is an enjoyable tale by Alice Gaines.

I volunteered to read this book, through netgalley in exchange, for an honest review. This book is a steamy romance. The characters are great and described well. The pace of the story is good. This is my first Alice Gaines book and I can't believe I haven't read any of her books before. I can not wait to read more books by this author in the future. This book is on Amazon.com now for 2.97 (USD) ebook.

I love second chance stories and even more so with a sports theme. I've been really diving into the sports romances lately and this one caught my attention and also I love finding new to me authors.

The Player's Game follows Grant, who comes face to face with his ex wife Katy in an elevator at a hotel. Both have dates but Grant being the protective alpha male and still having a soft spot for his ex ruins the night for both of them. Katy takes it upon herself to make her birthday night, which Gran ruined, into something. She asks him for one night together, like old times, but neither are prepared for their reconnection and what follows.

I really enjoy reading about two people who should never of broken up come to terms with the fact they parted way half hartedly. They loved each other and this was their chance to mend the wounds. But the old wounds have a lot of healing and this is what I loved about this story, was watching them hash through them.

The hardest part for me was character development. I love smoking hot sex scenes and this book hands down has some fantastic fan yourself scenes. But for me I needed more backstory, I needed more insight on who they were as people. I couldnt connect to either fully and Katy to me was hard to like, to me she felt selfish. Grant was a big winner for me in the sense I felt he was sadly the one who was hurt the most from their divorce, he has a soft protective heart and I felt for him through the book. In the end Grant was who I rooted for a happy ending for, he wanted family and he loved children, overall he won me over.

In the end I enjoyed this story, it was a quick read and as I mentioned I love seeing two people truely meant for each other try and fix what broke. I look forward to reading more from this author and glad I found her stories.

I'm giving this one a 3.5˙* and here's why;

the main reason is that I don't think they were ready for second chance. They both had a lot of issues left from their failed marriage and how they worked them out was a bit flat.

Now to the things I liked; I liked how protective Grant was. I believed him when he said he never wanted to hurt her. I needed time to connect with Katy. She was so driven in regards to her work that she let her relationship get to a point of no return. But as they start to spent time together we get a glimpse into her family life and I understood why she was or is that way.

I want to say I know what would I change to give this a full 4 or maybe even a 5* but to be honest I don't. I just know that while I loved Grant I couldn't get there with Katy.

As a new to me author I wasn't blown away but I did enjoy myself so I'll (probably) pick up Alice Gaines again in the future.

Katy hadn’t dated much after divorcing Grant so on her 30th birthday she decided to go to a resort and celebrate. Only she runs into Grant, an NFL player, who happened to be there for a wedding. Fate put them both in the same elevator with their dates for the night, but they leave as Grant and Katy start arguing in the elevator. Katy decides that Grant owes her the night since he caused her date to leave. Both still have feelings for the other, but things came between them when they were married. Katy was a new law grad and was trying to earn her reputation as a good lawyer. Grant wanted children but Katy didn’t feel like she could at that time. Can they conquer their issues and have a second chance?
The book was well written and fast-paced. The plot was developed and the characters were great.

The player's Game was a standalone Second-chance Romance written by Alice Gaines. It's told in dual perspectives.

The blurb of the book sounded interesting to me , but I wasn't able to connect to the characters somehow. The book started off good but after a while I just found the storyline a bit irritating and lost interest. I don't know what you guys opinion will be , but for me this wasn't a good enough book to read.

Here we get to meet Katy and Grant. Both of them were married a few years and we're high school sweethearts. However things went downhill and they had to get divorced. After a few years they have a sudden meeting in the elevator ,when both of them are with their respective dates. Grant gets jealous and ends up saying things to her , which makes her date go away. First of all, in the starting Grant was getting turned on by his date and then all of a sudden He gets jealous of Katy's date!! I mean Wtf? It wasn't like he was dying away pining for her. After this disaster, Katy rushes to his room and Reminds him that today is her birthday , and now that he destroyed her plans for the eve , he has to give her a memorable night. Brilliant idea! The storyline was definitely weird.

Then Katy's boss get a whiff of the news that she spent the last night with The world famous NFL player , which also happens to be her ex-husband, he asks her to continue the relationship . I didn't even understand why he wanted that! What does he have to do about whom she dates?? And then they both pretend to date , in case her boss asks .

On a total basis this book irritated the shit of me and I left reading it at about 30%. However it's your own choice!

Lovable characters!!!
Sometimes time changes things.
What we aren't ready for then, we might be ready for now.
Katy & Grant were married but got divorced.
Years later, a chance encounter reunites them for a trip down memory lane that could lead to a happy ending?

Absolutely loved Grant and Katy. They have such a history, such a deep connection that I loved every second of their story, their reconnection and journey. It's a great story, with characters that feel real and are honest with their struggles and decisions. Mix in the heat and heart and this makes for a must read book.

This is a second chance romance between an ex husband and ex wife and i loved it!

I loved the h who was sarcastic and witty and the H definitely wants her back. I loved the angst and steaminess in there!

Grant is definitely not losing her for a second time and after he ruins a romantic night for katy all bets are off!

Kinda felt like something was missing though but overall the story had a good storyline

Grant's shocked to run into his ex-wife, even more shocked to see her with some guy. So shocked and unhappy about it that he pulls the possessive act and ruins her birthday plans with the guy. So Katy decides Grant will have to be the one to fulfill her birthday wishes. But can they do sex only, or will their old feelings pop up?

Sigh...I had high hopes for this story, but it just didn't work for me. I couldn't for the life of me find a connection with either Grant or Katy, and honestly I didn't feel one between them either aside from in the bedroom. I think the problem I had with it was that their back story wasn't detailed much, so in the present I just didn't see their feelings. There wasn't anything horribly wrong with the story or the writing, it just wasn't particularly memorable. I'd go as far as saying it was a little bland for my tastes.

I was really interested in this title, and I was excited to get to read it. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me.

Without giving it away, as this may not be something that others had issue with, I really, really, disliked the way they got together. Yes, you are thinking, it's in the blurb. And, it is...and the blurb is really hot, and full of the idea that these 2 people see one another and they just can't keep their hands off one another. And, well, that was actually also the way it was written...but I didn't believe it.

And that was the problem. I was expecting steam, and an intense connection that they couldn't live without...and, I just didn't feel it. So, I decided that it was best to move on to another title.

I am not able to recommend this title.
