Angel Flight is an entertaining and well written romance. Great plot and character dynamics. I highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.
Unfortunately, I haven't read the first book, so there was somethings I didn't understand. But I was able to follow it the best I could. I am glad I did! I enjoyed this book and will read this again as soon as I read the first book. The story and characters were strong and well written.
Tris Miles works for a small airline company and has an upcoming promotion in the pipeline, on top of that she has put forward a colleague and friend for promotion but is now having doubts in his performance which is making her boss have doubts in her.
The airline are awarded an "Angel Flight" where they are flying a woman from Canada for life saving surgery.
I wont spoil the end but the passenger and characters do tie in together which is all very clever and unexpected. I was a bit baffled by the end - left feeling a bit empty and confused to be honest but have since realised it is part of a series which makes much more sense -I hope to read more of Tris and her love triangle in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and Acorn Publishing LLC for the ARC.
A great book about female pilots. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book. I highly recommend reading it.
When I picked up this book to start reading it, I didn't realize it was the second book in a series. I don't feel like I was super lost without reading the first book, but I think that it would be a good idea to read Flygirl before reading Angel Flight, to get a good introduction to Tris Miles and to learn more about her story, before diving into this book. The author did a good job of hooking me right a tthe beginning and for most of the story, my attention remained was just focused. However, there were moments when I wasn't as engaged with the story or the writing. Overall, this was a good book.
Angel Flight is the sequel to Fly Girl, but I was able to read it as a stand-alone title. I always enjoy books with strong female protagonists, especially those involving females in aviation. The author is a pilot herself, so she’s writing from her own experiences working in this male-dominated career. The fiction novel has mystery, romance, and suspense—something for everyone. The characters were well-developed, and the plot was quick-paced and riveting. I look forward to reading book three in this trilogy. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for sharing this book with me in exchange for an honest review.
Tris Miles has left Tetrix and is now a captain with Westin Charter and has been promised a promotion once she has completed the training for another pilot, to captain. However, she is no longer sure if he is ready for the promotion.
Her previous employment, and the loss of Bron, her partner, have affected Tris in many ways and she is secretly seeing a physiotherapist. If anyone finds out her career could be at risk.
Meanwhile she meets Mike, and for the first time since Bron died, she is ready for a personal relationship. But Mike has a secret, what is it? And will it affect their relationship.
The Angel Flight referee to in the title is a mercy mission to fly a seriously ill woman back to the USA from a remote part of Canada. But does she want to come home for more treatment? And how will the flight go with 3 pilot’s onboard?
this was a really good read, I didn't realize that this was a second book in a series. The characters were great and I really enjoyed the story.
I have to confess I was torn with this book. First of all I had no idea it was part of a series so it definitely works well as a stand alone. At no point did I feel I had missed something. I also wanted to keep on reading - I kept picking it up even when I only had 5/10 minutes.
I enjoyed the book but I didn’t think there was that much to it. It felt like there was a lot of build up, then the big event happened very quickly. I would guess maybe that part of the appeal if you have read the first book was finding out more about the characters.
Having said that there was t a huge story line as a book, I did enjoy reading it
Tish is a pilot. A female pilot, in fact. And as everyone could suspect, she fought through all her career against chauvinism. She seems to be in a better place in that department working for Westin. But what about her personal life? Will she be able to leave the past behind and start building her future? Will she be able to forgive? Will she learn to project?
There are a lot of questions and a search for answers.
Angel Flight is a very good book. In my opinion, the author was able to construct a reasonable link between the characters and some flying particular techniques and operative terminology. The result is a very well developed story supported by strong characters and an interesting plot.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Damaged people damage people. - Marianne Williamson
POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING especially if you haven't read the first book in the series
A couple of years after the events in the first book of this series FLYGIRL Captain Tris Miles is working for a charter company out of the same airport from the previous book. She started as a flight instructor and is now the only pilot who is a Captain for this company flying charters.
The company is chosen to fly an "angel flight" out of Iqaluit, Nunavut Canada back to their home airport. An angel flight is a non-profit humanitarian flight. In this case it's because of medical reasons of the passenger.
In this story Tris is still dealing with the death of old lover and the sexual harassment from her old company. She is seeing a therapist, which is something no pilot wants discovered. And she is also starting to be interested in another man.
I actually enjoyed FLYGIRL more than this book and would have rated this book 3.5 stars if I could have. I didn't quite believe all the responses of the protagonist in this book and some of the occurrences were just a bit too coincidental for me and some never explained. It was still an okay book, and as I understand this series will be a trilogy, I will plan on reading the third book.
I received this book from Acorn Publishing through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.
This is the second book in the Angel Flight series and finds herself in a great place personally and as a pilot. She is breaking gender stereotypes in the male oriented field of aviation. Tris is chosen to do an Angel Flight for a terminally ill woman that changes her life. This story was written from multiple points of view and was a great read!

One of my favorite reads of last year Flygirl was the first book in this series and I was so excited to see what lay ahead for Captain Tris Miles. Now working for a company that allows her to spread her wings, Tris feels very confident in her boss, Woody, and co-pilot Bruce. When Woody tells Tris that he is looking to expand the business and is seriously considering her for Chief Pilot, she knows she is up for that responsibility. On top of that, Tris has been gifted with an "angel flight, " one which requires her airplane to fly a sick woman from Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada to receive medical treatment. Also, she is ready to move on and explores a potential relationship. But a few wrenches are thrown her way and soon Tris cannot help but feel doubt creeping in. On top of it all, Tris is growing considerably concerned with Bruce's behavior, and her mentor, Diana is experiencing problems in Belgium. R. D. Kardon delivers lots of twists and pushes her tenacious protagonist to new limits in this great read.
I really loved catching up with the main character, enjoyed the storyline, and just really hope that there (fingers crossed) will be a third book in this intriguing series. I knew absolutely nothing about the life of female pilots, but R.D. Kardon has taught me quite a lot.

Slow start but once characters developed the maze of cleared. A woman pilot with a past and other piliots with webs of secrecy.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. I started reading the book and got the feeling that there was a little mystery here. Boy was I wrong, there was a whole lot of mystery here and it kept me up all night reading.
Until the author was ready to let us in on what was happening, there wasn't a clue to prepare me. I was even surprised that the plane landed in Bangor Maine. This book lets you in on the world of flying and the people who fly. Most of the time we see flying as glamorous and exciting but this book goes beneath the surface of the flying.
The author did a wonderful job of weaving many aspects of flying into this wonderful story. It all comes together and gives nothing away until it is time for the reveal. It was one of the books where I expected one thing and got something a whole lot more that I never would have even thought of. Very satisfying book.
Angel Flight by R.D. Kardon
What would do the most harm to a persons psyche, a noose being applied from those within the Good Ole boy system or P.T.S.D.? I guess you are saying to yourself it depends on the circumstances of the P.T.S.D.
In this case the situation is women pilots vs. men pilots. Why is that men tend to feel threatened or emasculated when a woman takes over a position primarily held by men but there is no viable reason that they cannot do the job just as well if not better. At one time only women held teaching positions, but men are now starting to enter that area, but you don’t see women up in arms. However, women still find it hard to enter the financial markets and surgical arenas as well. They face opposition by co workers and by the teaching staff which make it hard to be graded fairly.
In this book, Tris was a Captain but was overlooked at her previous employer and she suffered extreme depression as a result of coworker emotional verbal abuse. Because of certain FAA guidelines it was frowned upon to go get any type of emotional counseling which in my opinion makes it more detrimental for the people flying because of the extreme pressures of what they are responsible for. They are responsible for many lives not only in the air, but of anyone on the ground if they were to crash into a neighborhood. It’s just like the military that if you get any type of counseling and its noted on your government records then you will lose all rights to owning firearms. That is why so many soldiers will not go in for counseling because who wants to lose their right to bear arms because they may need some type of counseling.
Tris’s Co-Captain Bruce experienced a traumatic experience and as a result suffered some moments where he froze up while flying. Tris reported the incident but because another man who got the position that she was basically promised went over her head and stated that he was cleared to fly. This same man apparently had his own secrets and used Tris to get this position.
So, who would you trust someone who had a little bit of depression and was getting counseling on the downlow or the two good ole boys and the one actually freezes while flying and the other pilot better be on the ball to take over in a second!
The Angel Flight is a big thing for Tris’s company because it would get them noticed by the other big airlines and hopefully they will get a lot of the overflow. What they didn’t realize was this flight was going to get them noticed alright but not in the way they thought. The lady they were to pick up from the outbacks was a renowned grief counselor who had Lou Gehrig’s disease and her husband was having her come back for experimental trials which deep down she didn’t want to do, but she didn’t want to let her husband down. They had not been married that long and her first husband was a stalker and she had been hiding from him and changed her name.
This book has a lot of twists and turns and so many things that happen in your life that if you are not careful can affect your mental stability if you let it, but you can always make a choice to get HELP!
This book is awesome in that it shows you the different ways of how you could let things happen to you and you can make the decision to change your life.
I recommend this book because it is about life and choices.
I received a advanced copy from NetGalley and I am willingly giving my thoughts and opinions.
This is the second book I've read by R.D. Kardon and my second book with Tris Miles. I liked her before and I like her even more now.
Tris is now a Captain with Westin Charters. She has greater responsibilities and is up for Chief Pilot. Even though she has already proven what a great pilot she is they are still making it hard for her to become Chief Pilot. Once again riding with Tris on her journey took me to some places that I didn't expect. She's trying to find love at the same time she is still trying to get over losing her greatest love. Kardon does a wonderful job at giving the insight to the worl of being a pilot. The characters are well written and the story kept my attention the entire way through. I can't wait to read the next story.
Thank you NetGaley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
An interesting and intriguing story about a female pilot who is trying to get past gender discrimination....her goal is to get chosen for the captain seat promotion. When things do not go as she imagined, she has to reevaluate her life. There are many twists throughout the story as well as some romance and lots of secrets.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and review this book for my honest opinion.
I loved this story with wonderful characters!! I read Flygirl first and this continues on!! Highly recommend
Angel Flight will give readers hours of entertainment. Focusing on a female captain working for a charter service and her coworkers, readers are given a peek into the pressures experienced by those seated in the left seat. The book is extremely well written, the characters are defined, and the situations will keep readers turning pages... and holding their breath toward the end. This is one fine read with employment stress, romance, secrets...lots of secrets, and unexpected plot twists. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
