I do agree with some of the constructive criticism on Goodreads - - a lot of cliches; there is very little to like about any of the characters; you can guess a lot. The beginning was hard for me to get into, especially starting with Haley. However I am glad I stuck with it. I know many felt they could predict what was going to happen - - but i honestly think the author did a nice job of the twists and turns. just when i thought it was one person, something else would be introduced to make a switch. And I honestly didn't see the ending coming. I don't think it was a 4-5 star book but did feel it was entertaining and I wanted to get to the end So would recommend this book Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to preview this book
A bit too cliched and predictable for me. I found the premise to hold a lot of potential, but the execution fell short.
Oh my! As a real estate agent myself, I was drawn to this by the cover and description. I literally read this book in one sitting. Twists and turns everywhere, with an ending I never saw coming. Great, great book!
I was disappointed with OPEN HOUSE by Katie Sise. Whilst it was a page turner, it relied too heavily on cliches and unlikely coincidences to be truly unique.
Sise uses multiple points of view to detail a death that happened 10 years ago and the characters that were involved, whether directly or incidentally. Unfortunately a lot of the language is trite and any revelation is unsurprising. Also using the dead character as a POV seems to be a bit of a cheat in terms of dramatic revelation. There is potential there but it never pays off.
Thanks to NetGalley, Little A and Katie Sise for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Largely told by Haley, whose sister Emma went missing ten years ago, this is the story of secrets, lies, and jealousy in a small town. Haley's been unsettled all this time because there was no resolution to her sister's disappearance. Now, though, Emma's old frenemy Josie has been stabbed to death. Haley, Emma, and Priya all give their pov as this moves between past and present. It's slow to start and frankly predictable. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Emma McCullough, age 21, disappeared 10 years ago when she walked out into the cold woods. No trace was ever found of her. Now, her bracelet has been found near the river.
Emma’s sister, Haley, age 26, is a medical student and is engaged to Dean. A cadaver she works with resembles Emma and was the same age when Emma went missing.
Detective Rapport is conveying the news of Emma’s bracelet being found to Haley and her parents. They have been through so much pain over Emma. Her mother tries to be strong but her father is not doing as well.
Haley is going to look at some properties for her and Dean to consider buying. The real estate agents are Josie and Noah who were good friends of Emma. There is going to be a open house at one place and Haley wants to attend. Upon arrival at the house, they and other friends of Emma’s, Priya and Brad, walk in together. Calling for Josie, they find her on the floor in a pool of blood. What happened and who would have stabbed her?
After 10 years, the police finally seem to kick in to solve the mystery of Emma’s disappearance and what happened. This is where I had to chuckle. How come it took this long for interrogations to take place and this mystery to be solved? I wanted to give this book 4 stars but have had to change that to 3 stars due to this question.

The opening didn't interest me . I wasn't hooked by the events and no suspense. I didn't feel a connection to the characters
This book was just okay for me. It was told through multiple timeline with different perspectives. I sometimes felt there was too many characters to keep up with, and really was invested in any of them.
This book was not for me. What stared as a promising plot turned into a hot mess. It wasn't just the writing but the fact that it was predicable, so unbelievable and I didn't find one character with one redeeming quality. Also, I had the who figured out almost immediately and the what was not a big reveal in the least.
What tension there is completely fizzles out towards the end and when this reader was hoping for a plot twist that never came, I'd lost interest well before then anyway but was determined to finish the book. The saddest thing is that there's so much potential in the idea and the book does start out quite promising but ends up falling flat on its arse. Pretty disappointing.
I really liked this one. I was nervous after reading reviews but I loved the crime aspect and felt very intrigued the entire time. I didn't feel like I was left hanging for too long. I really like Katie Side's writing and find it's flow so easy to read and yet still complex somehow.
The title was really misleading. I thought there would be more drama inside an open house setting but it was a blip in the book. It was a way for the characters to meet.
The book throws you into the middle of the drama which I am normally all for because it is a faster read and it feels real but THERE WERE SO MANY NAMES to keep track of and I kept confusing Noah and Chris.
I felt confused about 60% of the book and at one point I had to write the names on a post it note to keep track.
It was a fast read but I was really hoping for something more and something original.
