I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main characters were Ryan Carlson and Angie Prince.
Ryan Carlson is a graphic designer and a nice guy. While on the subway he see a woman that catches his interest. But before he can talk to her she get off the subway. He has decided to try to find his mystery woman use different ways that could find her.
Angie Prince is a cynical news producer for the TWZ-style website Celebrity Monger. Her boss has something new for her to do.
This was a fun story to read or listen to. It had action, adventure and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. I got the audiobook through scribe. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
This was a cute, quick read. The premise—a guy sees a girl on the subway who gets off the train before he has a chance to talk to her—was intriguing. Ryan was a really nice guy who was a strong believer in fate. For me, if fate wanted him to meet the subway girl, he would have. What I’m trying to say is that his belief in fate went a bit far for me. Angie, a news producer for a tabloid-type show, contacts Ryan to help him find the girl. I liked her no-nonsense ways and didn’t mind her cynicism. I think I felt more for her as a character because she had to sit back and watch Ryan talk about his dream girl repeatedly, all while her attraction to him grew. Talk about feeling second best! There was some wit and some sizzle; I just didn’t connect with the characters or situation in any strong way.

Unfortunately I had difficulties downloading this book to my kindle - maybe it wasn't offered in this format??
Either way, I'm loving the reviews so have requested this book from my local library and will be sure to leave a review on Goodreads as always!
I gave The Subway Girl an effort of 25% of the book, put it down for a few weeks, tried to come back to it and decided to throw in the towel and accept that it was a DNF.
I could see the direction the story was going to go and it was exactly what I didn’t want to happen. The concept of the story was really what drew me to this book. The writing was decent. But overall things were just too slow and the characters were all very bland. I had no interest in finding out how the book ended because I was so under-stimulated.
OK why has it taken me so long to get to this book?!
I loved the whole idea of this story. Our guy Ryan sees a girl on the Subway, feels a pull of attraction and senses that it is fate so he goes searching for her. This search leads him to Angie who is the reporter on his story.
Angie was spunky, driven and a realist. Ryan is a huge romantic who wants the perfect romance. He wears his heart on his sleeve, believes in fate and truly thinks that's this search for the Subway Girl is fate at work.
All the characters were well written I loved Ryan's friends and the banter between them all. The whole story just had me hooked and the chemistry was hot!!
This book gave me serious How To Lose A Guy Vibes, one of my favourite Rom Coms and left me smiling. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be checking out more by Lisa Becker.
I loved this book. It was such a fun story and I cannot wait to read more by this author. The character development was great and I felt like there was enough drama to balance the story without it being too dramatic and I love the dialogue between the characters
**3.5 stars**
Okay, this was absolutely adorable! It really could have been a Hallmark movie. From the blurb, I thought the book was going to be a bunch of intersecting romances with all these different characters. But, this is centered around one guy, Ryan. He sees a woman he thinks could be his soul mate on the subway but loses her. He tries unsuccessfully to find her so when a TV network shows up wanting to help him find her, he agrees. As you can imagine, things get pretty dramatic with this now being reality TV. Angie is his producer on the show. Angie and Ryan become friends while trying to find his subway girl. There is no love triangle in here. Angie is a cynical New Yorker who doesn’t believe in romance. Ryan is the exact opposite. He is the definition of a nice guy. I loved these main characters. Their friends were also amazing. However, there are quite a few villains on here too but they brought a ton to the storyline. I thought the whole story was unique, adorable and I would recommend it.

Ryan is on the subway when he looks up and sees a woman he feels “fated” to meet. Before he can get the courage to meet her, she gets off the subway and is gone. Enter Angie and online TMZ type show Celebrity Monger. They agree to help Ryan find the subway girl. Angie and Ryan grow closer but what happens when subway girl appears?
This book was rough. It was equal parts boring and annoying. Ryan is clearly in love with Angie but doesn’t have the courage to tell her? Meanwhile he’s hunting for some girl he doesn’t know like a loon. This was a HARD pass from me and three hours of my life I’ll never get back.

This is such a sweet story. Ryan is so likeable and I love that the big city hasn't taken away his small town values. This genuineness is what comes across in his interviews and inspires hope throughout the city.
Angie is a tough city girl with a big heart that she protects, however, Ryan slips in and as their friendship grows so does their attraction. I love the way the romance sneaks in between them and their steamy scenes are hot! The way these two dance around their feelings is what makes a friends to lovers romance so fun.
I felt like the obstacles in their path were mere blips on the way to a great love story and it was interesting to see the truth come out despite them. Ryan's realization about what he really wanted and Angie's feelings about him were paced so well for this story. This is one of my favorite romances this year and I can't wait to read more from this author!
Thank you to Net Galley for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Ryan sees a girl on the subway and falls in love, but when he tries to talk to her, she gets off the train. Then he sets up a site trying to find the girl of his dreams, the site is so successful that it draws attention from a gossip site and they decide to do a program to increase the audience called '' the subway girl '' where they do a campaign to try to find Ryan's dream girl. The program became a success, everyone followed the story of Love and all the women in the city want to be the subway girl of Ryan. Ryan had no idea that finding the girl would be so much work. Ryan will find out that the love he is looking for is right in front of him.
It's a light and cute romance. I didn't give any more stars because there were some time jumps that left me confused. Nothing natural.
DNF at 25%. Unfortunately this one just wasn’t working for me. There we’re a lot of characters to keep track of and I just couldn’t get into any of the storylines. I can see how this would be enjoyable if you are looking for a lighthearted romcom- it just wasn’t the right read for me at the time.
The Subway Girl is a good book by Lisa Becker.
The concept is cute, the writing is good, and the storyline is well done.
It's a solid read, but it isn't anything I want to review on my blog.
It has heat, some bad characters, and some twists and turns to satisfy.
This is absolutely a fabulous read. Refreshing, funny and it kinda grows on you. You can't help but sympathize with Ryan. He is positively sure that he felt a connection to a girl on a subway ride and now Angie's helping him to find her. Angie needs a good story to help her fulfill her dream to get a promotion at her job. So, she sets out the total story of Ryan on social media and tries to help him find her.
Having absolutely no romantic bone in her body, she thinks Ryan is chasing a dream. But when time passes and they get to spend time together, Angie realizes that Ryan is not only a romantic guy, but also fun, friendly and sincere.
Serendipity has nothing on it. Enjoy this wonderful story, full of fun and intersecting lives. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
3.5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lisa Becker for an arc copy.
This book was a lot of fun! We follow Ryan, who sees a girl on the subway, and decided he is fated to meet her. He creates a website to meet her, and gets picked up by a celebrity gossip website to produce his story and help him find the girl.
The story is a bit predictable, but I found it was so unique in that it followed the behind the scenes of a reality piece on a gossip site and how to keep ratings up. I though the romance was sweet and I was definitely invested in the characters by the end. However I wasn’t a big fan of the POV, which was third person but switched between so many people, so I never felt that connected to characters.
Overall, I thought this book was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed reading it.

This funny lighthearted romance begins with Ryan, an Iowa transport living in NYC, sees a beautiful woman on the subway and falls instantly in love. He attempts to follow her when she gets off the train but loses her in the crowd. He posts an ad looking for "subway girl" and is contacted by "Celebrity Monger" to do a video series to attempt to find the girl. Angie works at Celebrity Monger and is assisting him in finding his subway girl. What follows is what happens when Ryan and Angie fall for each other then subway girl is finally found.
There are moments in this book that are silly, funny and sometimes sad. I particularly loved the bromance between Ryan and his two coworkers, Luke and Diego. Becker has great character development in both Angie and Ryan and I fell in love with both characters. My one complaint is she could have made Ryan a little less perfect! He was swoony. Also, the times that the author referred to Angie as New York City girl. We know she is from NYC. All in all, I gave this five stars. The writing was excellent. The story, while somewhat predictable, had all the emotions you were looking for and the characters were well developed.
Thank you for my advanced copy, Lisa Becker and Netgalley!
This is a fun read about Ryan - who sees a girl on the subway but doesn't get to talk to her. He creates a website to describe her and find her and starts working with Angie, who is a writer at a local media outlet, who helps him search for his Subway Girl.
Ryan was so endearing and sweet in his attempts to search for his girl and is such a romantic! Angie is quite the personality and I loved their chemistry together. Would love to hear more from their friends in a sequel!
I would give this 3.5. I received an advanced copy of this in exchange of an honest review.
This was a cute, quick romance read. I liked the characters that Becker created with Angie and Ryan. I definitely found Barry to be the antagonist that you have to despise. I liked the premise of a guy looking for the girl of his dreams after seeing her on the subway. Kind of an On the Line movie situation that started Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
I felt like there was a lot of social media posts that took up space. Also I definitely did not like Misty or Frankie. Barry, in my opinion, was too disgusting and foul of a character than he should have been. This was pretty surface level, but it was still cute and definitely a quick read. You’ll have the ending figured out by 10% easily.
This book is just everything
The romance, the banters and cheesy moments were just too much all served with humor is more than my hopeless romantic heart could take.
I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for something light, fluffy and heart warming
I wanted to like this book. I made it through the first quarter of the book and it didn't hold my attention enough to continue.
What is one thing you enjoy while reading?
What I love while reading a book is when the book evokes a visual and other sensory immersion that brings it to life in front of you. In this book, with effortless writing, I could picture each scene while it was happening. It encompasses everything I love about a good contemporary romance. It’s sweet without being annoying or cliche, it hooks you from the first chapter, and the characters are real and feel like people that you have in your own life.
The story was a novel twist on the classic trope of a guy who falls in love at first sight and tries everything in his power to find her in a city of millions. Ryan was my ideal guy. He’s sincere, kind, and the type of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. I just adore how well he was written by the author. Angie is the girl who doesn’t believe in a happily ever after after being wronged by her ex. She’s skeptical about faith and doesn’t believe that guys like Ryan exist.
If you want me to fall in love with a story, it has to have a great buildup to a relationship. I love to see a foundation through friendship and that is what the author did well. You are falling in love with Angie and Ryan as they are falling for eachother. You get to see the beginnings of the relationship and appreciate everything that comes with it.
I found myself constantly thinking about this story when I wasn’t reading it, wanting to absorb myself again in the book. I was so excited to see how it would end but at the same time I didn’t want the book to end. I was really enjoying this story. Loved the supporting characters in this book. They brought humor and life into the story. Here’s to keeping my fingers crossed that this is a series where Josie gets her happily ever after ending. Thank you to NetGalley and Lisa Becker for this ARC.
