The art style is beautiful and the story is so so so sweet! I will always check out books by this author
Behold! The Tea Dragon Tapestry is a magical heartwarming story. This book is the equivalent of the perfect marshmallow in the form of a book! However, said marshmallow isn't edible, but it is sure is light, fluffy, and just melts your heart. Plus, it leaves you a slight concern of developing early-onset diabetes from all the sweetness it exudes.
Let me just get this out of the way first: I am in love with the art style. The illustrations are gorgeous, soft, and beautifully detailed. The panels are engaging and the art captures and evokes emotions well.
This graphic novel is not only heart-warming in the sense of characters and story-telling, but it also explores other avenues such as disabilities, grief, loss, and acceptance.
Overall, this was an amazing book and I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
Recommended: fans of graphic novels, people looking for a wholesome, heart-warming read, basically recommend this to everyone
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Oni Press and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I love the tea dragon books for so many reasons. The illustrations are artwork in themselves. Beautiful and colorful. I also love the diversity and the inclusivity. Finally, I enjoyed the growth of the characters and then finding their way and their worth.
Another great entry to the Tea Dragon series. The illustrations are just as beautiful as the previous ones, with the storytelling remaining just as enchanting. It's a nice series to dip back into like a comforting blanket in times of turbulence.
This was such a cute read both in content and visually. The Tea Dragon society was recommended to me and when I saw this available, I had to go for it. I’m so glad I did.
I believe I can say for sure that every graphic novel that Katie O'Neill publishes will be in an instant on my wishlist.
The tea Dragon Tapestry brings back the girls from the first book, and I loved seeing more of their journey, besides I wish I had a tea dragon to make a company to me. The representation in this series brings me so much joy, it's natural and responsible (as it should) and it's something I wish I had when I was growing up.
This series is so lovely and colorful that feels like reading an animated series (btw, this needs to become an animated series!!)
Katie O'Neil's graphic novels are some of my all-time favorites. Her illustrations are always stunning to look at and go perfectly with the overall story. This time around, the story was not as interesting as the other two but I really did enjoy this volume a lot. Overall, this was a beautiful story about love, grief, looking for one's purpose in life, friendship, and family. I highly recommend picking each volume up in the series.
I'm in awe of how simple yet hard-hitting the stories are—from covering a lot of representation and doing it in such a matter of factly way (no biggie, it's just the wonderful, open minded, progressive world they live in) down to capturing the intricacies of life and how creatures coexist and interact through shared goals and experiences. And do you see just how gorgeous the art is??? It's the kind that grabs you and pulls you right into this world of tea dragons and adventure, the kind that makes you feel alive. Literally every panel is wallpaper/journal-worthy, believe me, I took a bajillion screenshots 🙃
5 stars read for this book!
The illustrations and the plot of this book was stunning. I purchased the other book from this author before reading this book. I am in love with it soon much!
Thank you so much for letting me have the advance copy!
This brand new installment to the Tea Dragon series is just as delightful as the others.
More than anything, however, I was truly touched by the gentle implementation of themes such as grief, body acceptance, and rediscovering one's life purpose.
Yet again, I will rave about the illustrations. If you pick up these books based solely on the art alone you are entirely justified.
This is a book that touched me at the right time and more proof that Katie O'Neill weaves stories that are truly for those of all ages.
I have read and enjoyed every book in this series and I will continue to read every book that is published. The art is fantastic (ITS SO CUTE), the characters are relatable, and it's super diverse.
My only note is that this one might not be as good as the other books in the series, but they set a really high bar, so it's understandable that eventually one might not quite live up to expectations.
PS: Where can I get a Tea Dragon Plushie?
I absolutely love Kaitie O'Neill's Tea Dragon books. Tea dragons are odd little things but they're cute. The real draw to these books is the personal journey, feelings, and intrapersonal relationships. The characters face real problems of self or identity or self-confidence and are nudged in certain directions from other characters to find their own answers and peace. There is an ovverall simple story of a tea dragon grieving for its previous master and trying to make a new connection to its new master. The story is lovely and inspiring. The art is gorgeous and bright, as always.
The Tea Dragon series is just so cute! It is an overall wholesome & enjoyable read that always leaves me feeling better after reading them!
I loved that we learned more about Minette & their back story in this book. That was something that I wanted more of in book 1 so that was a nice surprise. We also got to see most of the characters from The Tea Dragon Society & The Tea Dragon Festival come back in The Tea Dragon Tapestry which was awesome. They are also amazing & such well developed characters so it was nice to see them all again.
I also love that all of the books have an amazing story to tell and all have a message to teach the reader. The Tea Dragon Tapestry features a beautiful message involving grief and the importance of small gestures.
Overall I love these books & I will definitely be rereading them! I wish there was more but The Tea Dragon Tapestry was the conclusion. It is amazingly wrapped up but I would be totally happy to read another 10 books based on these adorable tiny dragons! I highly recommend checking out this series if you need something wholesome and feel good to read!
I started off with The Tea Dragon Festival, part 2 of the adorable Tea Dragon series last year. Here, I review The Tea Dragon Tapestry, the final book in the series. You can start anywhere and still enjoy them. How can you not adore a book about little tea dragons that grow tea leaves on themselves?
This book focuses on Greta, a blacksmith-in-training, who has been taking care of the little tea dragon, Ginseng, for a year. Her friend Minette works in Hesekiel’s store. Erik now stays with Hesekiel and is a budding vegetable farmer. One day, an old friend and renowned blacksmith Kleitos lands up at Hesekiel’s looking for an apprentice. He highly recommends Greta, but she needs to impress Kleitos by making something spectacular before he chooses her. Will she manage it?
In my review for Part 2, I had described it as one of those ‘books that just seem to wrap their arms around you in a warm, soul-enriching embrace.’ I have exactly the same thing to say for this one as well. The Tea Dragon Tapestry immediately transports you to a little rural community where kindness, healing, and gentleness are a way of life. There is also sheer diversity in representation through the characters – gay, disabled, many ethnicities, etc. Each of them has so much love and sagacity to offer in their own way.
“You feel like you’ve lost your path. It’s natural to be sad. It’s alright to let those feelings wash over you, and give them to soak into the earth. That’s when things start to grow again,” Erik consoles Minette.
The story is also about finding purpose. Erik finds meaning in his new life with Hesekiel and in farming. Kleitos begins to understand that passion sometimes “becomes quiet and tired, and needs time to rest.” Greta wants Ginseng to be happy and feels that she “will never be a good enough caretaker to make her happy.”
Katie O’Neill’s illustrations are scintillating, melding the fantastic with the real effortlessly to create an ideal and harmonious world. I cannot love this book enough. Or recommend it enough. Gift it to yourself. I leave you with my favourite quote from the book - Everything that happens is part of your wholeness.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
I just loved everything inside it---so wholesome. Such a gorgeous story with its art style so whimsical and the color is just--ughh. I just cant bring myself to love it enough. Should have rated this over 5 stars indeed!
Katie O'Neill is a can't miss middle grade graphic novelist.
The Tea Dragon Tapestry is the final book in the Tea Dragon Society series. Greta is struggling to care for her tea dragon Ginseng who is still mourning the loss of her previous owner. While Minette is struggling with finding her true calling after a package from her past appears.
This series really feels like a warm hug. The artwork is magical. The world she creates is stunning. The characters are kind and compassionate and feel real. The tea dragons are possibly one of the most adorable things ever and I really wish I could have one of my own.
As with the other Tea Dragon books, this story was beautiful and the art was lovely and whimsical. I love the Tea Dragons and never want their story to end. Katie O'Neill - give us more please!
Katie O' Neill has crafted a satisfying, heartwarming conclusion to the series! Reunited with Greta and her friends, this third installment tells a gentle, quiet story about embracing change. The art, storytelling, and color palette make this a perfect read for fall.
The second you open up the beautifully illustrated pages of a Tea Dragon novel, you’ll always know your in for a comforting and wholesome tale. Greta and Minette each go on their own individual journeys and seeing the rest of the cast again is so wonderful. The art is filled with a variety of warm colors like oranges, reds, yellows, and so on that embrace the coziness of fall!
Having originally read this series while it was still being published as a webcomic, its no surprise Tea Dragon will forever be incredibly special to me! Was I also sobbing because this was the final book? Absolutely! What makes it such a beautiful ending is that it doesn’t really feel like one either. You know Greta, Minette, and the group have tons of long journeys, especially adventures, ahead of them! It never feels like a goodbye!
In my opinion, the only minor gripe I had is that there was often a lot of circle panels used. While its nice because they give you insight into a character’s deeper emotions, it did feel overused at points and took away from some of the full-page art.*
The Tea Dragon Tapestry is the highly anticipated and perfect conclusion to the series! O’Neill navigates important themes and tells an equally beautiful story! Your heart will be filled with joy as you’re reunited with beloved characters again one one more journey!
[ Received an arc/galley via the publisher and NetGalley]
This 3rd Volume of the Tea Dragon series is sure to enchant and delight fans of gorgeous graphic novels.
The art is soft and lovely, and the story explores grief and loss in a wholistic and relatable way.
I am grateful to NetGalley, Oni Press, and Katie O’Neill for the opportunity to read this book. I hope Katie O'Neill continues to share this world with us!
It’s always a delight reading THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY series because it’s just so wholesome and pure, and this book is no exception 😭💖 There’s just something gentle and uplifting about these books, whether it’s due to the beautiful art and bright but soft color palette, or the well-developed characters and representation, or just themes explored, this series just never failed to cheer me up.
