Good, solid recipes that serve 2. While I generally like leftovers for things like soup or mains that reheat well for lunch the next day, I do appreciate recipes for 2 for breakfast, dessert, and seafood, and this cookbook has plenty of those to offer.
This was great! It’s always so hard for me to find any simple recipes or any recipes that doesn’t require more than 5 ingredients, so this book was a great resource for me. There’s plenty of wonderful recipes and they are so simple to make too!
A must for anyone who works full time or has their hands full every single day.
I didn't get to try cooking any of these recipes, but I did enjoy the beautiful photography! I especially like the section on practically grocery shopping and keeping a pantry for two since I tend to go overboard. The recipes are straightforward and look very doable and certainly look tasty in the photos! And they all sound like things my simple family would eat - nothing too crazy!
This was pretty good. It had lots of simple and easy recipes for two people. I made a few of the recipes before it was archived and they weren't bad. I'd recommend this for the couple that's looking to gain some more cooking experience, but for me it seemed a bit basic.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Some decent recipes that don't seem too hard to make.
This was an easy to follow cookbook. The directions were not complicated and ingredients were straightforward and delicious. I feel after a few attempts, some of these will be staples.
I hope in the published versions there will be photos of these dishes.
It is so annoying to try and divide a recipe for 6-8 into - meal for 2. This book will be great addition to a couples kitchen. Even a single person household. As my home isn’t the biggest waters of leftovers this is a winner on all counts.
5-Ingredient Cooking for Two by Robin Donovan
I used to pickup those cookbooks in the checkout aisle at the grocery store and then be so disappointed after reading when I get home!
I can tell you that this cookbook is a wonderful cookbook!!!
I made at least 3-4 recipes in each section except snacks I only did 3! They came out tasty and were enough to feed the 3 people in my home. The recipes were easy to follow and I might have beefed up the hot spice in a couple because we like our food spicy, but overall this is truly the real deal!! I personally plan on buying my own copy and my daughter who does not cook very well will be able to do these recipes with no problems and her spouse is a picky eater but he will definitely like these!!
I plan on checking out the authors other cookbooks as well!
I received a advanced copy from NetGalley and willingly giving my thoughts and opinions!
There are some really good recipes in here. It’s hard to find a good cookbook for 2 people. I look forward to trying some of these.
I have always liked the five ingredient cooking for two concept...it doesn’t seem to be a great year for amazing cookbooks, sometimes
one after another ten speed press type offerings are published and this is not that! I actually wouldn’t make any of the recipes in this collection
but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily not worthwhile. I enjoyed it for pre bed perusing. Three and a half stars for being a low stress easy on the eye offering
5-INGREDIENT COOKING FOR TWO by Robin Donovan shares "100 Recipes Portioned for Pairs." Personally, I would probably tend to double many of these so as to have a second meal readily available. Donovan, a food blogger, provides easy to make recipes like Apple Cinnamon Pancakes, Curry Chicken Salad, and Spicy Crab Cakes. Her cookbook begins with a brief introduction and "a bit of know-how for shopping for ingredients in small quantities." The recipes are broken into sections by broad categories (seafood, poultry, meat, etc.), but images are few which is a definite detriment. Recipes do have helpful labels like freezer friendly, one pot, and 30 minutes or less. The directions are straight-forward and simple to follow; plus, each recipe has nutritional information. Look for this title if you are hoping to try something new without too much of a challenge while doing more cooking at home.
Cooking for two is my favorite kind of cooking because even if it's just me at least there will be leftovers. Maybe. I like the simplicity of the recipes and the minimal ingredients required. Fussy and complicated just isn't me and this cookbook is neither.
A good basic cookbook of easy-to-make recipes using only a few ingredients (not all use just 5). Unlike many "convenience" cookbooks, this on does not rely on prepared foods but gives you great ways to use simple ingredients to make great foods.
Perfect cookbook for a party of two! There are a wide range of recipes to pick from which are simple and easy to put together. I had almost everything I needed at home and prep and cook times were included so I knew exactly how long the recipe would take. I also loved the fact that I could make a recipe and not have a ton of leftovers. My husband and I really enjoyed the Honey Garlic Shrimp, Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Cups and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus.
One thing I would have liked is more photos. I am a very visual person so when I am finished with a recipe I really like to refer back to a photo to make sure I looks “right”. Nonetheless, I enjoy this book and I have numerous recipes which I have marked for future meals.
I want to thank NetGalley, the author and publisher for the e-ARC of this cookbook. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.
These recipes were exactly as promised. I tried three, and they were simple, pretty fast, and tasted great, and I wasn't stuck with tons of leftovers.
I love the idea of simple cookbooks with recipes that are satisfying but not too challenging. This fits the bill with the added plus that the 100 plus recipes are geared toward smaller portions.
This book is wide ranging with recipes for everything from breakfast through dessert, plus snacks. To name a few: Greek Scramble Breakfast Wraps; Sweet Potato Hash with Bacon, Eggs, and Cheese; Grilled Prosciutto and Fig Sandwiches; Panzanella; Crispy Chickpeas with Spinach and Fried Eggs; Butternut Squash Mac N Cheese' Spicy Crab Cakes; Greek Lemon Chicken with Olives...Raspberry Crumble, and so many more.
The recipes are easy to follow. Each includes the amount of prep and cooking time. All in all, a very nice cookbook.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
This book makes me so happy! I desperately needed some amazing and easy recipes for two. It’s harder than i thought but with this book it becomes easy!
This is the first cook book that I’ve read geared towards couples! It was simple to navigate, easy to read, minimal ingredients, and not a lot of strange ingredients either! This gave me plenty of ideas for new meals, and even had recipes fo satisfy my super picky husband. Another plus is that even if it is something my husband wouldn’t eat, I can still make it for myself because the recipe is for a smaller portion! Huge bonus of these recipes! Looking forward to trying quite of few of these out!
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this cookbook in exchange for my honest review.
Nice to have recipes meant for 2 people so I don't always have leftovers! They are simple and don't require a ton of ingredients, which is great, especially during this time of quarantining!
Interesting recipes for two.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
There are so many good recipes in this book, and all of them use such simple ingredients that make the instructions really simple. Even the recipes for when you are 'feeling fancy' are broken down into easier ingredients which make the food easy to make.
I've already got the ingredients in my pantry to make a few that I've bookmarked. If you like to cook but dislike making enough for 6 and having a ton of leftover and food waste this is the recipe book for you.
