Loved this a lot! I had a great time reading it and felt that it was really fun and interesting! I liked how the author did the princess trope! I thought the romance was great, it had great action moments, and fast paced moments as well,. The book didn't drag, or feel too rushed. The writing was also fantastic! highly recommend this book!

This series started off good, then only got better and better in the second and third books!

When undercover princess, Ana catches the eye the renowned rogue, Sebastian Wolff, she doesn’t put much into their chance meeting… Next thing she knows, she is relying on the roguish lord to shelter and hide her from the enemy that put her into hiding!

Sebastian Wolff is shocked to find the girl who caught his fancy at a brothel acting as the companion to his grandmother… now with her life the line he is willing to risk everything for this Russian enigma… even his bachelorhood!

I fell for Princess Anastasia and her plight from the beginning! I love how her strong personality is the perfect match to the independent Sebastian. Their sparking chemistry and banter was a joy to read.

I enjoyed this series, but I think this is my favourite the trio! This book had plenty of fun cameos of our two previous couples, but the story is definitely strong enough to stand on its own!

The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman is scheduled to release December 29th, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin’s through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Princess and the Rogue
Series: Book 3 in the Bow Street Bachelors
Rating: 4 Stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

The Princess and the Rogue was a very fun and entertaining read. It had action, adventure and hot chemistry between Anya, the princess and Sebastian, the rogue. Their first encounter was at a brothel and their attraction took off from there. I enjoyed their bantering and how they flirted with each other. I liked how Anya was a princess to be reckon with. She was not a spoiled one and I enjoyed reading about the superstitions she had Seb do. I especially like the one about the hiccups.
This was a very fun series and we see the previous two couples come out in this one. I liked how Alex and Benedict taunted Seb through out the story of how it was his turn to get married and fall in love. Those scenes were fun to see.
Overall it was a good series and I highly recommend it.

Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbray, finds his bride in Princess Anastasia Denisova, a Russian princess hiding and pretending to be plain Anna Brown in the hopes of avoiding a cruel man determined to force her to marry him.

From the first page, Princess Anastasia is a likeable and sympathetic heroine, and Sebastien is just as enticing a hero. There’s a lot of intrigue and action in this story, but it all serves to enhance the romantic development, which was heated and emotionally gripping. I loved the little touches of Russian culture and history that peppered the story, as well as the appearances of the characters from the previous books in the series, and how very clearly Sebastien and Anastasia fit together. The Princess and the Rogue is very good, romantic story, and one I very much enjoyed.

Will they be able to thwart the villain’s designs ...

I liked the premises until the heroes first encounter, immediately after meeting the hero who propositions her and offers a huge amount for a taste of her charms, the heroine jumps to his throat and mingles tongues with him.
I am no great fan of lusty characters, even more when it deprives them of any sense.
Thus said, when rethinking this read, I liked the whole plot line even if some details were too far fetched, why does a Princess have no guard, nor how a so lofty born lady can throw caution to the wind because of lust, nor why can’t she confide her true identity to her newly assigned guard and rescuer, and who in its right mind when tracked and aware of it, goes out and of course straight in the arms of the villains and so on ...

After outside all this, it is an entertaining and easy read with a rake on his way to be tamed, a princess who gets a taste of adventures and side characters who bring levity and humor to the story.
Sebastian is the last of the Bow Street Bachelor to be unmarried, and while he is happy for his friends, he does not share their feeling of shackling himself to only one woman. He enjoys the charms of the female gender with all its variety. A sad experience in his past plus his family’s history make him believe women are greedy or inconstant.
Anya went from fur lined cloaks and silk underthings to drab coton and practical items of clothing. It has been quite a reversal of situation for a spoiled lady. Yet she adapted readily and made things do. Until her security is threatened and meddling people decide to play matchmaker.

WOW!!! I loved, loved, loved Anya and Seb’s story in The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman, book three in her Bow Street Bachelors series. This fantastic Regency romance of a princess in danger who’s hiding in plain sight and the rogue who helps Bow Street catch criminals while protecting her is a story that warms one’s heart, especially since these two swore to never fall in love and marry.

Princess Anastasia, Anya, Denisova fled Paris after news that her brother had been killed at Waterloo and being hounded by an abusive man who wants to marry her for her title and wealth, not for love; a man she has refused before. Arriving in London, Anya is hiding as plain ‘Anna Brown’, companion to a wealthy, elder duchess. Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbrey and Bow Street investigator does not believe in love, despite his best friends having found it. During an evening visit to a brothel, Wolff shared a passionate kiss with a beautiful stranger who was not one of the girls working there. Leaving frustrated, unable to forget her, he tries to learn more about her, especially who she is; making him reconsider his view on marriage. Sebastien can’t believe his luck when he discovers his mysterious woman, but becomes concerned upon learning of her connection to a case involving a missing Russian princess and a Russian traitor. When Anya realizes that the dangerous traitor is getting closer to finding her she accepts Wolff’s offer of protection and a room at his gambling hall. Living in such close quarters and helping Wolff with his Bow Street cases, the compelling and shared attraction draw them together while the sizzling chemistry between them would electrify the gambling hall, if possible. When Anya’s life in danger, Wolff is determined to keep her safe and away from the Russian traitor determined to marry her; in doing so, these two find themselves having fallen in love, despite her being a princess and him being a rogue.

I love a strong heroine and Anya definitely exemplifies one; from being a Princess, to traveling to London, and then searching for work, in order to support herself. Sebastien was everything Anya needed in a man, despite thinking she never needed one. Sebastien was told by his friends that he would know he found “the one” when all he wanted to do was strangle her. That was exactly how he felt with Anya, in addition to gobsmocked upon learning she was the missing princess. There were lots of twists and turns in this story that kept me on my toes, surprised how perfect Anya and Wolff were for each other.

Ms. Bateman wrote a wonderful, amazing, and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, witty banter, endearing character, twists and turns, as well as a swoon worthy romance giving Anya and Sebastien a chance at love, happiness, and a future neither expected. I highly recommend The Princess and the Rogue to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The Princess and The Rogue by Kate Bateman is an entertaining historical romance. The Princess Anastasia Denisova is preparing to escape from France and it's revolution. Returning home to Russia does not appeal to her and there's more to meet the eye. So going to England and into hiding her royality is her choice. The tale continues with Sebastien, the Earl of Mowbray, being assigned by his superior to investigate a murder but has him searching for a Russian traitor. The princess, of course, in the middle of all this and the reader is taken on a exciting adventure full of intrigue and romance. As the story ends all the loose ends are tied up, all the answers given and a HEA romance completes the story. I received a digital copy of this book for the promise of an honest review which I am freely giving.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Princess and the Rogue (and my entire experience with the Bow Street Bachelors series) has taught me that sometimes it’s probably better to not continue to beat a dead horse when something is not working for you. The first two books were fine, but not remarkable, but I had foolish hope that things could improve (I also recall receiving the ARC for this one before even reviewing the previous book, so I only had book one to go off, and this I had only been burned once at the time).

But while the first two were ok, this one was just…unsalvageable, and I stuck it out longer than I maybe should have. To be fair, there are glimmers of potential, mostly related to the heroine. While it is implausible, I liked the homage to Anastasia, and was intrigued to follow Anya as she fled from home, and feel the storyline would have been interesting, if the hero were actually a decent person.

And that brings me to the frustration with this book that I tried to deal with for way too long, in hopes that the intrigue would capture my attention enough to forget his boorishness. To be fair, the blurb literally mentions them meeting in a brothel, but the fact that he believes she’s a courtesan while there (I forget the circumstances of her being there), and they have this “titillating” (actually disturbing, in my opinion) encounter, and then a bit later, he finds out she’s working for his aunt, and is like, “She’s trying to fleece you?!?” I can’t respect men who get horny for women, but also think the worst of them because they aren’t (or at least don’t appear to be) “proper ladies.” Her link to the missing Russian princess that concerns him due to his work for Bow Street *was* interesting, but it was overtaken by a continuation of his lust for her, culminating in them sleeping together. I finally gave up after they reached the conversation about “we slept together, we need to marry,” and she refused. Like, so get the context, but this has always been one of my most loathed tropes, although the reasoning has changed over time, now being that the guy is always doing so with a clear disrespect for the heroine’s desires to make up for the fact that he was led by his cock, when he could’ve tried controlling his desires? I mean, I know it takes two to tango, but still.

I just found this book to be so annoying and wasting a great premise on an overly “roguish” hero who I couldn’t be bothered about. I did take a peek at the ending and found I cared even less, since I knew it would be an HEA anyway. I think if you like a generous helping of rakes, rogues, and scoundrels, this will work better for you, as it is an objectively ok book that I struggled with personally.

A princess in disguise is forced to live with a rogue in order to protect her from danger in this fun, sexy regency romance from Kate Bateman.
A wonderful story line and characterization. Romance, mystery of the record variety.
This is an awesome story by Kate Bateman.

Princess Anastasia Denisova, masquerading as Anna Brown, has left her castle in Russia after her brother dies in battle and, her enemy has attempted. violently, to force her to marry him.
She moves to Paris then, London to get away from Petrov. She takes the name of Anna Brown and, a job as an assistant to a Dower Duchess and, loves it. She also lives next door to a house of ill repute and, becomes dear friends with the owner.
This is where she meets Bow Street Agent Sebastian Wolff, Earl of Mowbray. Not the best way to meet a man, much less one to which she is very attracted.
Sebastian Wolff is instantly attracted to the woman he meets in his favorite place for simple pleasures but, this one appears much harder to woo than any other woman and, now he is intrigued.
The Bow Street men have been working for the government for quite few years now and, Sebs' two friends have married happily. Seb is not about to tie himself down to this woman, no matter that he has to spend a lot of time protecting her from some Russian traitor.
Then again, life throws barriers into our paths for many reasons!
I loved this book as much as the first two!!!
What a charming, lyrical story!

I rarely give five star reviews, but this book hit all the spots for me. I am an avid fan of Bateman's Bow Street Bachelors series, and this is book three in the series. This book can be read as a standalone, although I highly recommend reading the other books because they are also very well written.

Exiled Russian Princess Anya lands in London where she is living as plain Anna Brown after faking her death in Paris. The character development and the growth between Anya and Sebastien is really what makes this book memorable. This is not a book that will blur with other romance novels. I met the character of Sebastien in the two books before this and knew it would take a special woman to catch his attention. An exiled princess is just the thing for this super alpha male. The friendship between the three men is comically hilarious, especially with how they talk about love and their wives. I loved these characters together so much and their story is one with twists and turns that always lead them back to the other.

I loved this!!
Based on past experience as a romance reader, you assume that eventually Sebastien will discover that Anya is a princess and it will drive a wedge between them. But Kate Bateman makes getting from point A to point B so exciting!! Anya and Sebastien burned up the pages.
5 stars!

I was looking forward for this last book in the Bow Street Bachelors series and it lived up to my expectations. This is a highly entertaining story that has really good characters and character delopment, and interesting plot, romance, and I've come to like the author's writing a lot, it has a nice flow and there weren't any slow moments, I was hooked and rooting for our main characters; Seb and Anya have great chemistry and I think they truly complement each other.
I do recommend reading the previous books but this book can be read as a standalone.
I'll be looking forward for more stories from Kate Bateman.

this was a nice mix of intrigue and romance with a complementary touch of humor and sexy (though not too heavy on any it) and makes for an enjoyable read if willing to just accept a few things at face value & convenient turns of event -- go with the flow. while Seb's attitude & cynicism was a little off putting at times it wasn't enough to make him a dislikable hero. Anya was caring and witty with desire to find her way and not be a victim to fate. the two made a nice couple that you can be happy to see find their HEA even if you're not drawn in so much as to be actively cheering them.

The Princess and the Rogue is the third book in the delightful Bow Street Bachelors series by Kate Bateman. It has become one of my favorite historical romance series. I loved the first two books, but the hero of this one may very well be my favorite! The story here stands alone, but I really do recommend reading them in order, as you will want to see the history of the titular rogues and their friendship.

Princess Anastasia Denisova of Russia has been hiding as unremarkable Anna Brown in London. She had to flee her homeland to protect herself from a traitor who wanted to force her to wed him, and is now working as a companion to the "Dreadful Duchess". While teaching young ladies in a neighboring brothel to read, Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbray and a Bow Street agent (and the dowager duchess's nephew who has never met Anya) mistakes her for a prostitute and kisses her passionately. Later he saves Anya from a kidnapping attempt and discovers she's seemingly more than his aunt's companion. He moves Anya into his gambling hell in order to protect her and so she can help him catch a Russian traitor. Can love exist between a foreign princess and an English earl? Will they even get an opportunity to find out?

This was such a fun and steamy story that I had trouble putting it down. I hate when earning a living interferes with my reading time! I especially liked the premise, as my father's family is allegedly related to Tsar Nicholas II and I've been to Russia. Anya was such a strong heroine, hiding her heritage while living in a foreign land. She was devastated at the loss of her brother and was determined to avoid the traitor who was hunting her. Seb lost his hearing in one ear during Waterloo, and now works as a Bow Street Runner with his two best friends and former comrades-in-arms. He's a broody fellow, watching his besties find the loves of their lives and being left behind. Separate they were great characters, but together they were perfect...and very, very steamy times were had. There was romance, adventure, suspense and wit all here. My favorite moments, however, were when Seb was together with Benjamin and Alex; their banter made me laugh, and they were like true brothers. If you don't believe in love and romance, you certainly will after you read this lovely book!

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given and in my own words. Ok, so it is your standard love story EXCEPT that it involves a Russian Princess and a Bow street investigator. How can you possibly pass it up? Delightfully written and absolutely will keep you glues to the book. I highly recommend it!

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
I was very excited to find out who would knock Sebastien on his ass. Of course, it would take a Princess.
There are so many things that I love in this book: educational kissing, forced proximity, both mistaken and hidden identity, meddling dowagers, and bad proposal.
This author has a thing for unusual words and I am here for it. I love finding these “old” words that I can add to my arsenal.
Anya was bright and brave and definitely a survivor. I loved that there were some surprises and that she is was adaptable.
Seb is strong and sexy and stubborn. His original proposal was abominable and he deserved that no.
Although I did not like this one quite as much as the other two, it was still a good read. I cannot wait to see if there is another book for another man in the near future.

Honestly, I don’t have too much to say. This was fine, but a little forgettable. It’s definitely one of those books I’ll probably forget in like 2 days.

Anya was nice, but a little one-dimensional. Same with Sebastian. I did like that he really cared about his clothes. It was a subtle addition to his personality and one that you don’t see very often.

The romance was kind of flat. It wasn’t horrible, but it also didn’t feel real. It was like Anya and Sebastian were together because they were supposed to and not because they have good chemistry.

OK...that’s all I’ve got.

Princess Anastasia flees to London. to escape a traitorous suitor, who only wants her for her title, her connections, and her silence. Now she is Anna Brown part-time companion to a dowager duchess. When the dowager duchess realizes that Anna is really a princess and in danger, she offers her great-nephew Sebastien's protection. Sebastien has been searching for her ever since he gave her a sizzling kiss. Sebastien doesn't know that she is a princess, but know there is more to Anna's story that she is saying. Sebastien plans to learn who she really is as well as seduce her. I was given a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I love this book because of the wonderful characters of Anna and Sebastien. The book has suspense, witty dialogue, and two steamy chapters. This book is a fitting end to this trilogy.

This is the last book in the Bow Street Bachelors series. Sebastien Wolff returned from Waterloo with his two best friends, bearing a permanent hearing loss in one ear. Alongside his friends, he’s earned an earldom in his own rights for his contributions to the crown as a Bow Street Runner. He’s cynical, doesn’t believe in love or happy marriage. A chance encounter with a mysterious woman, who he assumes is a prostitute, at a famous brothel has set his life in a different direction.

Anya, a Russian princess, was having her grand time in Paris when the news of her brother’s death in Waterloo came. Being threatened by a villainous national traitor, she faked her death and fled to England with her closest friend. She found a job as a companion to the dowager duchess, also Sebastien’s great aunt. When the traitor came after her again, she was advised by the duchess to be under the protection of Sebastien. The close proximity forces them to face the sparks they have experienced for each other. She has her own secret while he has his own assumption. And now they’re sharing the same enemy, she has to reveal herself for her own safety...

Overall, it’s a fast paced read for the most part, and I really enjoyed the author’s voice. However, I’m not really a huge fan of the hero 🙈, he seems to be a jerk for most of the time 😂. While I love an alpha grumpy and emotionally constipated hero, he also needs to have a tender caring heart 😂, and I feel like Sebastien doesn’t show enough of this side. And Anya has some questionable actions that I just couldn’t get in an intelligent princess. But there are some hot steamy scenes that will satisfy your romance loving hearts 😂... It’s a nice conclusion to this whole series, and I was delighted to see previous characters again.

4⭐️ read from me!
