So I finally got around to reading The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman, whom I truly love as an author. Enjoying this series and it was a delight to read the story of Sebastien and Anastasia and how their attraction moved to the characters falling in love.

I believe this is the third story in the series and as always, Ms. Bateman provided adventure, twists and also a bit of humor that kept this reader smiling. An enjoyable read with a bit of opposite's attraction and intimacy that makes for a good read.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a good story this was! Anya and Sebastien are good together, though there were times he was a bit conceited and it bordered on annoying for me. I sometimes felt she deserved better, but overall I think they were a good pair. We also had quite a surprise at the end with a major twist.

My thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the pleasure of reading and reviewing The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman.

It was fun to follow the unraveling of Sebastien Wolff's carefully constructed world as he finally falls in love. This third installment of Kate Bateman's The Bow Street Bachelors series has adventure, many twists, a lovely romance and even humor to keep the reader interested. I do have an issue with the romanticizing of a brothel and the explicit sexual descriptions (which I skip over in order to enjoy the book). If one can set those issues aside 'The Princess and the Rogue' is an engaging story with lots to offer.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is a great read!! The author has a knack for writing in a way that has her characters come alive and a storyline that will hold your interest for hours. Anya is in hiding in London from a man who means her harm and who better to protect her than a big bad Wolfe.

This story will have turn the pages with both characters that play off one another splendidly. Wolfe will do everything he has to protect manga from her enemy but who will protect the Wolfe from Anya and that dreaded four letter word LOVE.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

The Princess and the Rogue was an engaging read. I finished it in less than two days.

Pros:
Adding in the angle of the brothel was a nice touch and made it more fun.
The plot was entertaining and complex; it didn't feel like it was stitched together just to get from sex scene to sex scene. There's a twist you probably won't see coming.
Gorgeous cover photo except the hero's hair looks like my prom date's.

Cons:
For a princess, Anya didn't feel like that strong a character. She couldn't fend off advances from a man, and as near as I could tell her primary skills were riding a horse and tipping her chin haughtily which she did often. She also turned into a puddle of blush from the moment Sebastian first looked at her. Where are the heroines that make the heroes work to get them??

Not really a pro or con, just an observation that the villain was pretty stereotypical which is to be expected in romance novels. I also would have liked to see the dowager's character fleshed out a bit more, she was really fun.

Sex scenes: 2 (no opinion on heat factor, I skimmed them)

I received an ARC from St. Martin's Press and NetGalley. I wasn't required to write a positive review & opinions expressed are my own. FTC 16 CFR, Pt 255: Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements &Testimonials in Advertising.

This book was fun! In some ways, Sebastian and Anya are opposites, yet they find themselves growing close. Sebastian goes into the relationship with certain beliefs about Anya, and because she's in hiding, she doesn't bother to correct him. Sometimes, she actively deceives him. This isn't always helpful down the line, but I'd say the ends justify the means. Russian royals pop up time to time in historical romance and I always enjoy it when they do. I recommend checking out the book if you've enjoyed the previous ones or if the occasional foreign royalty is your cup of tea!

Such a great story. A Princess, and a handsome gambling den owner what could possibly happen. While I have loved all books from this series this one is my favorite . I love the banter between the characters, the chemistry and a hint of danger. Thank you Netgalley for this opportunity.

Author Kate Bateman has quickly become one of my most favorite Regency romance authors. Her stories are well written, intelligent, and engaging. As with The Princess and the Rogue, I had to finish the book in one sitting just because the story flows so smoothly and eloquently. Unlike some of the other romance authors who can write prose that are too flowery or stiff, Kate Bateman has a way of drawing you into her stories immediately but in a very easy going manner. You feel like you're back in the Regency era quite easily.

The Princess and the Rogue is book three in the Bow Street Bachelors series. This story involves Sebastien Wolfe, a wealthy, powerful, and cocky high society Earl. However, only his title speaks of his noble blood for he is considered a "rogue" due to him not wanting to be tied down to any one woman. Having been jilted in the past, he likes to live his life carefree and doing whatever he desires. As an owner of a gambling "hell" and a Bow Street Runner (sort of like a private police in England), he lives his life dangerously and without regrets. That is, until he inadvertently meets "Anna Brown", a beautiful and mysterious young lady who he had to rescue.

Oh, and do sparks fly immediately between Anna Brown and Seb! They have a rather love-hate relationship which teeters dangerously between a forbidden love. Seb is unaware of Anna's true heritage for all he knows is that she's the companion to her aunt, the Dowager Duchess of Winwick. When her aunt calls upon her nephew, Seb to protect Anna due to some clever misinformation, Seb has no choice but to help his favorite aunt.

Throughout the entire story, we see the comical and endearing interactions between Anna and Seb. Between Seb and his best buddies, Alex and Benedict (from the other 2 books in the series). And between Anna and an assortment of characters - both friends and foe. My favorite interactions, aside from Anna and Seb, are the ones between Anna and her best friend Elizaveta. Elizaveta, like a true longtime friend is loyal to a fault and will do anything to protect Anna.

So, if you read the synopsis of the story, you will already know that Anna Brown is actually the "lost" princess of Russia, Princess Anastasia Denisova, who is the cousin to the current Tsar of Russia. She is on the run from a ruthless fellow countryman who wants to marry her to prevent her from spilling his deepest and darkest secret. Things seem to go well enough for Ana and Elizaveta as they hide in the lesser known areas of London, until her past catches up to her and leaves her unsure of whether the protection from Seb is enough. Determined to take matters into her own hands, Ana runs into a series of trouble and danger.

I won't go into too much detail about the story because a lot of incidences happen as well as the endearing relationship that slowly blossoms between Ana and Sebestian. You see how they slowly yet surely fall for each other yet neither one of them wants to admit to it. Through misunderstandings and miscommunications which of course, makes the story even more fun and infuriating - Ana and Seb are pulled apart and drawn back together until the end of the story where they are forced to confront their true feelings for each other.

I really liked Ana's character. She is sweet and innocent and kind. Yet she is fiercely independent, loyal, and intelligent. Her noble attitude and dialogue is clearly an enigma to Seb before he found out she was true royalty. There are lots of bickering and banter between these two main characters and your heart can't help but break a little each time there is a misunderstanding between them. Seb is also a fun character to read and while the other 2 books in the series were about the friends, I was hoping Kate Bateman would write a story about Seb. He is the epitome of aloof and daring and it was a joy to read his soft side slowly coming out for Ana.

I'm sad that this is the last of the series but I am so happy for Seb as well! Maybe the author will write a story about Ana's brother - Dmitri? There are some recurring characters from the previous books and a few supporting characters that you'll immediately become attached to as well. This story is full of action and intrigue. Heart and laughter. You will come to love the main and supporting characters.

Thank you, Ms. Kate for another thrilling and endearing story of the Bow Street Bachelors!

This book is the perfect ending for a perfect historical romance series.
There's an independent heroine who just so happens to be a runaway Russian princess in hiding, Anya Denisova, who happens to be saved from an attempted kidnapping by the last remaining Bow Street Bachelor, Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbray. Of course, Wolff doesn't know she's a princess and she's not telling him, but circumstances force them together and they can't deny the chemistry and the emotions that come with it.
There's the incredible chemistry, romantic interludes, and intriguing action of the previous volumes with an entirely new twist that lets new readers enjoy this as a one-of, but returning readers delight in seeing the previous couples live happily ever after.
Truly a worthy successor to the two previous volumes I so loved. Bateman has closed the romantic adventures of the Bow Street Bachelors with a gloriously romantic flourish.

Many happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this wonderfully romantic read.

Another excellent, very well written Bow Street adventure. This series just gets better, this my new favorite and maintains the captivation and exhilaration of the stern, stubborn and protective bachelors. Both characters are very like-able and I enjoyed their antics. The Princess is very clever, resilient, independent, determined and resourceful which also describes the Rogue he's just more experienced. Their emotion is so explosive that it jumps off the pages, embraces and leaves you with a big smile of happiness. All of the supporting characters are hilarious and the traditions are.... informative. From beginning to end, I was enthralled.

From the first page I was immersed in the story as if I was Anya! And I know I'm not a princess...but I don't know. The way Wolff saw Anya for the first time sent sizzles down my arms, the same way I saw my first love for the first time. And even though my time didn't go any further than a look, I could imagine what it would have been like. I felt like Wolff was my first love...and yes I was Anya. It was good. I loved it until after the sex.....It was still interesting to read, but we knew they both loved each other even though they never said it. The ending was still very good. But predictable. I didn't really get too invested in the characters from the previous books, Brown didn't really invest anything in them in this book so I'm not inclined to read the previous two. But I did enjoy reading the final book in the series. But it wasn't really memorable.

This is a fairytale type of story, titillatingly delicious. Anna Brown, a fake name for a Russian princess name Anya is "undercover" trying to hide from a ruthless man. Faking her death and running to London, It is the only way she is able to fend off to a corrupt man after her riches and has the knowledge of him being a traitor to Russia. With all her family dead, she is left alone and has to protect herself at all costs.

Enter Bow Street agent Sebastien Wolff, Earl of Mowbray. who when he meets her is immediately taken with her. Little does he know she is a companion to his aunt the dowager duchess. This story had intrigue, mystery, devotion, and passion. The rest is history.

This is my first book written by Ms. Bateman and it was both entertaining and an enjoyable novel.

My thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An easily read romance with twists and turns od of course, as expected, a beautiful heroine and a dashing and handsome hero. A good example of a book in this genre.

The 3rd book in the Bow Street Bachelor series, this one is my favorite. Wolff found his match in Anna/Anya/Anastasia and the chemistry was apparent throughout the book. With some suspense, action and humor sprinkled throughout, this book was a great read.

If you’ve been following the Bow Street Bachelors series by Kate Bateman, then you’re not only familiar with the three titled investigative aristocrats but if you’re like me, then you’ve probably also been waiting with abated breath to find out who will be the woman who will tame the most elusive bachelor of the pack, the big bad Wolff, otherwise known as Sebastian Wolff, the Earl of Mowbray.

Sebastian Wolff has made it his mission to make the most out of his bachelorhood and sample as many delights as he can. If there’s one thing that he’s set against, it is marriage and to be shackled to one woman for the rest of his life. He still can’t believe that his two best friends have chosen a life of monogamy . That is until he comes eye to eye with the alluring Anna Brown. A woman who makes his heartbeat faster and rejects him after sharing the most scorching kiss of his lifetime. He can’t get the blue eyed beauty out of his head and goes out of his way to track her down. The last place he expects it find her is under the wings of his great aunt. It seems that Anna is being hunted down by an evil Russian count and Sebastian is her best chance of survival.

Sebastian has no idea that the stunning Anna is in fact the missing Russian princess Anastasia Anya Denisova. Anya doesn’t want Sebastian to find out her real name for fear that he will treat her differently. She wants to sample as much of the real world and passion as she can and she knows that even a rogue like Seb won’t dare to touch a royal princess. But can chemistry this intense be truly denied?

I loved each and every book of this trilogy and fell in love with Ben and Alex along the way. But I have to admit that it was Sebastian whom I was looking forward to reading about the most. Who doesn’t love a tall, dark and handsome rogue who promises passion and ecstasy even with just his looks? He is truly the ideal and perfect hero! This series has been one of my favourite series this year and will be one that I will reread many more times in the future. Not to be missed!!

Kate Bateman has another winner on her hands with The Princess and the Rogue. After Anya, the Princess of Denisova, learns her brother has been killed at Waterloo, she is aggressively pursued by a traitorous count looking to marry her to have claims to her property and to keep her from exposing his deception. Wanting none of that, Anya and her maid flee to England to hide and start over as commoners, hoping it will keep them out of sight from the count. Anya takes a job as a companion to a duchess, who has matchmaking on the mind with her nephew Sebastien. But Seb and Anya have already met, and sparks have already flown, so putting Anya in Seb's hands for protection does nothing but stoke the flames. Naturally the devoted bachelor and the princess determined to stay single begin to rethink their views on the matter, while the count continues his plot to hunt Anya down and make her his wife. The book has funny moments and poignant moments, some vodka toasts to Russian superstitions and cultures and generally happy and romantic sentiments without going overboard or feeling cliché. While this book is the third in a trilogy, the reader doesn't need to have read the previous books to feel totally immersed in this book. Next story, please!

I requested to read and review The Princesses and the Rogue by author Kate Bateman and publishing company St. Martin Publishing Company. I loved this book. This book is set in Europe in 1815 most of it takes place in England. The main characters are Anya and Elizaveta, Seb and Dowager Duchess and Ben and Alex. There is also a few other interesting people you will need to read about. This book is about loyalty, love, determination and treachery. This book is for a mature reader but think any type of reader can enjoy this book!!

I really enjoyed this romance. I liked the characters, the tone, setting, and steaminess. My only difficulty is with how the author presents historical information. I feel like I am suddenly back in school. There is no flow. It is always a slam with information, although this is the best she has ever done.

I have read all three Bow Street Bachelor's books and with every one Kate Bateman writes characters that are better than the last. Sebastian and Anya's story didn't disappoint. A runaway princess hiding in a Gentleman's club.. When Seb finds out who she really is, will he be able to let her go?

I have really enjoyed this series so far and the premise of this one, a princess in hiding, is one of my favourites. One thing I really like about Kate Bateman’s writing is her ability to create sizzling sexual tension between her main characters and she nailed that again with Anna and Wolff. The steam was STEAMY and their interactions lit up the pages. I also loved that characters from the previous two installments made an appearance again. My favourite character was the dowager duchess - I loved her sharp wit and her spilling of some important tea about sexism and double standards.

However, I will say that for all that this book is called The Princess and the Rogue, the male protagonist didn’t really act like one in this book. Yes, he visits a brothel at the beginning of the book but for the rest of it he acts really noble and protective. Another point of (hopefully, constructive) criticism I have is that there isn’t much world building, the book is supposed to take place in Paris but really it could have taken place anywhere in the world because there are no descriptions to set the scene.

Overall, an enjoyable read though and I will be on the lookout for more books by this author.
