Loved, loved, loved this story!!! I'm also blaming the author for lack of sleep since I couldn't put the book down and read until the wee hours:) So well worth it, though!! Paula Quinn is an amazing story teller and she outdoes herself with every book she writes. I also now have a new book boyfriend....Tristan....swooooonnnnnn!
Tristan has been a hired killer ever since he left the army and he's a master at what he does. His name brings fear to anyone who utters it. He hasn't been home to see his family in 10 years and prefers to be on his own. One day he comes upon a village where the Black Plague has killed almost everyone. He sees a pile of bodies which soldiers are getting ready to burn and suddenly hears a weak voice calling for help. Someone is alive in that pile!!
Rose has virtually been a prisoner in her own home for the past 6 years and this is her first time outside the walls of the castle. She's traveling with her uncle and cousin but disaster strikes when she falls ill with the Black Plague and is at death's door when she finds herself in a pile of bodies, ready to be burned. She calls out weakly....
After he saves her, Tristan and Rose end up on an adventure neither one of them expected. The story is filled with twists and turns that will have you gasping and turning the pages as fast as you can read them! Their love for each other is also awe inspiring and beautiful and your heart wants nothing but happiness for them.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
