This book explores the meaning of craftsmanship and the richness of creating something by hand. It is mainly about the author's own experience and his furniture making craft and includes stories, case studies and memoirs. It is rich in description and feeling and wants to be read slowly and deeply, so you can smell the wood and feel the author's passion. It wasn't what I expected but was an enjoyable read. You appreciate how much heart and soul goes into things made by hand. A book I would read again and recommend to crafters and those who appreciate quality.

This book was not what I expected but was still a wonderful reflection on the heart of an artist. This book is more in my opinion a memorable walk through why and how the author chooses what materials to use in a variety of applications. I enjoyed the layers of historical information about the original tools or materials used for that purpose and how they changed over time.
