I have read and loved books by Kerry before and this was no different. Short chapters meant I flew through this and didn't want to put it down. The driver wasn't who I thought it was. I can't believe this whole book happened over the space of a week - so much happened in those 7 days! Will definitely recommend and will read more by Kerry in the future!
I was gripped by the premise. I didn’t like any of the characters but the storyline was captivating
The story is filled with twists and turns
A great book
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, it was an easy read but didn’t exactly have me gripped unfortunately but this won’t put me off trying more books by this writer as I have heard good things.
Abigail comes home to sort out her dads house when he dies, when she arrives she witnesses a terrible accident involving her former best friends little boy. The story is basically about her trying to find out who was the culprit, it picks up a bit at the end but like I said it wasn’t really for me.
I flew through this book, with a well-thought-out plot and really believable characters. would definitely recommend it!
I'm a big fan of Kerry WIlkinson's series so was excited to read a stand alone but this this unfortunately didn't deliver as I'd hoped it would. Something just didn't work for me, it didn't grip me the way Kerry's writing has before. I struggled to get into it and did actually put it down and read something else when I first tried. It was well done but just not at the level of what I've come to expect.
Great thriller which kept me engaged throughout to the very end. Only wish I had read it sooner! Will be reading more by this author and recommend highly to others.
This was a great book, I’m a fan of Kerry’s writing and this was no exception.
Abi returns to her childhood home town following the death of her father. She has been left the house but doesn’t want it, in fact she’s not sure why she has come back at all.
She witnesses a car pulling quickly away down the road and then sees a young boy knocked off his bike in a ditch.
Drawn back into the old town and it’s ways, Abi soon bumps into old friends and neighbours.
I won’t spoil the rest, but the story has some good twists and turns and an ending I didn’t see coming.
Very much enjoyed it.
I have loved all of Kerry's books and when his latest came out I just had to cancel my chores for the day, find a comfy spot, open my kindle and start to read it. Oh my it did not disappoint!
The Child Across the Street by Kerry Wilkinson was an excellent book and I I loved it and was hooked from the second page. This book has great strong characters and is full of twists and turns throughout that will have you gripped!
Kerry, You have done it again! An addictive page turner.
I highly recommend this latest book and then again all of his books. Kerry is just an excellent author!
Big Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Kerry Wilkinson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review
I’ve been fan of KW since The girl who came back. If there’s a new novel out I’m reading it! I feel like this one is not his best of best. The premise sounded really good but at some point the story stop holding my attention. Also I Abigail’s character development was a bit flat. There were plot twists at the end that I did not see coming and that made up.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have read a couple of books by this author, but in all honesty, I couldn't get on with this one. although the writer has a great sense of prose and great humour.
Loved this! So good, so exciting, so gripping and great story. Can't wait to read more by this author - absolutely brilliant.
Awesome book! Loved every minute of it. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and Kerry Wilkinson for this 🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2 star book in exchange for this honest review.
Another fantastic read by this talented writer. I d read everything by him mow and still am not disappointed. I just wish writers if this standard could put more out!! Seriously though this one is brilliant. Give it a whirl then buy the rest of his books! 5/5.
I love Kerry Wilkinson's work, both his Jessica Daniel series and his stand alones but try as I might, on several occasions, I just couldn't get more than half way through this book. Sorry.
Having read a fair few books by this author before and thoroughly enjoying them, it was one of the reasons why I wanted to read this his latest book.
So this latest book has been a relatively enjoyable read for the most part, but it was a little slow going at times, and some parts we’re drawn out a bit too much in my opinion. I did like the storyline though as it was different, not something that comes up in other books very often.
I'm looking forward to Kerry next standalone book already however, I have yet to read his series but they are very much on my to be read list.
This was a book that caught my interest from the first page. The authors writing style is wonderful and brings the story to life, making the reader feel fully immersed throughout.
One thing I really liked about this book was the way in which the lead character was portrayed, rather than your typical 'likeable' character, he was somewhat flawed and deemed unlikeable at times.
The plot itself was brilliant paced, with the suspense increasing throughout as the story unfolds.
A wonderful read.
Kerry Wilkinson is an accomplished author with many fans...myself included. His name on the jacket promises a great read inside. His Jessica Daniels series has kept most of us up nights trying to figure out "who done it".
The Child Across the Street is a stand alone story of a woman who has returned to her father's home after a lengthy absence when he dies and she must clear his things. Her arrival in town does not bring back happy memories. She is here to do what needs to be done and leave, never to return. Before she can walk the short distance to her father's home, she is witness to a hit and run that leaves a young boy severely hurt. As she talks to emergency services personnel, she realizes the boy's mother is a school friend, one of the few she had. As witness to a crime, she will now have to stay in town longer than she had planned.
Mr Wilkinson is a fan favorite because he spins a great story into a suspenseful read and gives us enough hints that we think we can figure out the mystery but then throws in the twists that keep us guessing. If you have not read any of his books, what are you waiting for????
Abigail returns to Elwood after her estranged father passes away. She has come back to sell the house and settle his affairs but she has no sooner arrived in town when she witnesses an eight year old boy bring tossed off his bike by an out of control car. The boy has been badly injured but the driver doesn’t stop so Abigail calls the emergency services. It later turns out the boy is the son of one of her childhood friends. Past memories come back to haunt Abigail and we discover she has a drink problem and childhood memories come back to haunt her. She wants to leave Elwood but it’s not possible at the moment as she is the sole witness to the accident. One night as she is sorting through her father’s belongings she hears the door handle rattle and when she goes to check it out she sees a figure running across her lawn. Someone is watching her, are they connected to the hit and run or do they know the reason she left Elwood twenty years ago? One thing is clear the longer she stays the more danger she is in !!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the storyline it sucked me i n straightaway and kept me hooked and guessing the whole way through to the very unexpected ending!!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for the ARC of The Child Across The Street my review is honest and unbiased.
This is my second book I have read from this author and my first stand alone of his. I like how his main characters are flawed and somewhat unlike able. I liked the plot and the pacing. I also liked how there were many suspects so it wasn’t predictable. I liked how other smaller plots are weaved into the main plot. Overall it made for an interesting enjoyable read.
The Child Across the Street by Kerry Wilkinson was a great read. Full of twists and turns. This book focuses on Abi who returns to her old childhood home on the death of her father and encounters old friends and ex boyfriend. I have yet to find a book written by Kerry that I have not enjoyed.
