I’ve never read anything by Lisa Harris before, but now I’m a huge fan! Jonas and Madison were characters easy to love and root for as they tried to capture a dangerous feeling when their transport plane crashed and he escaped. So many twists and turns and it kept me riveted!! I can’t wait to read the sequel. 😀

Wow! What a ride. When a dangerous criminal escapes during a downed transport plane, two US Marshals work to apprehend him. The storyline is almost unbelievable as the escapee stays one step ahead of law enforcement.
Both US Marshals carry the pain of loss in their personal lives. As they work together, they must find trust and a new closeness bonds them together.
And just when everything is wrapping up...a lead into the following book.
This book will keep you turning the pages.

Wowzers! This book is a literaly race from opening page to almost the final page. Follow US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn as they race through the Pacific Northwest across the country in pursuit of an escaped prisoner. All three were in a transport flight that crashed. And the race is desperate and down to the wire. Add it moments of romance laced tension, and this is a book that romantic suspense lovers will enjoy -- and it builds to the next book...one I'm itching to read!

This is the 1st book in the US Marshal series. I must first say I love this Author's books and think I have read them all. I was so excited to receive an ARC of this book. Madison James and Jonas Quinn are US Marshalls. Madison is mourning the murder of her husband five years before. Madison and Jonas are tasked with the transport of two violent offenders. Their plane crashes and one of the convicts escapes. This book kept me glued to its pages. I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to. I will not tell you the ending. Read the book. I highly recommend it. I even read the teaser at the end which I usually do not do. I wish Book 2 was available right now! Thanks to NetGalley, Revell and the Author for the privilege of reading and reviewing this book.

Recently widowed US Marshall Madison James is partnered unexpectedly with new transfer Marshall Jonas Quinn. They met years before during training but they don't really know each other. Both are determined not to be involved with a coworker. When they're thrust together in transporting two high risk prisoners - everything goes wrong.. On the short flight to Denver the flight goes down and the race is on. Lisa Harris takes the Marshalls through some unexpected terrain as their training to expect the unexpected kicks in.
I liked the suspense and different threads the Marshalls had to pull to unravel the story. Guilt or innocence isn't their call but it impacts the decisions they make in tracking their escaped prisoner.
The Escape is a great start to Harris' US Marshall series. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series! Great job, Lisa Harris.
Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to review the advanced readers copy of this story. All opinions are my own.

"The Escape" is a romantic suspense novel. Due to the physical danger to the main characters and bystanders as well as the race to catch the fugitive in time, there was a great deal of suspense. Madison and Jonas worked well together as a team and appreciated the other persons' strengths and talents. They were just beginning to be romantically attracted in this book, despite Madison's lingering grief for her dead husband and Jonas' conviction that he shouldn't date a coworker. The story ended with a cliffhanger of sorts relating to the murder of Madison's husband.

My main problem was that the characters didn't feel realistic, or at least relatable. They went through a scary plane crash, but they weren't nervous about flying on a plane...and they do so several times in their pursuit of the fugitive. No one even thought about the possibility of fear about getting on another plane. They were injured in the plane crash, but those injuries disappeared very quickly. No one suggested that maybe they should go to the hospital to be checked out or allow someone else to take over the fugitive hunt. They did something that they knew was probably unwise at the beginning of the story and it made the situation much worse, but neither one questioned if they were making good decisions because of this; they promptly forgave themselves and moved on.

Though by Christian publisher, the only Christian content was a couple references to "she prayed" (that it would work, for example). There was no sex or bad language.

“Escape” by Lisa Harris is an excellent read! This is the first book in the U.S. Marshall series. This book will keep you hopping from the beginning to the very end. I have loved everyone of Lisa Harris’ books, and this one is no exception.

This book follows two U.S. Marshalls who are transporting two prisoners, by plane. There is a plane crash, leaving both pilots and one prisoner dead. The Marshalls are on a chase to find the other prisoner, and he is desperate to get away!

I definitely recommend this book and all of Lisa Harris’ books. She is one of my favorite inspirational suspense authors.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This story reminded me of the movie The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. In that U.S. Marshall, Tommy Lee Jones and his team chase Harrison Ford, who they suspect has murdered his wife. Harrison Ford is a smart man and stays one step ahead of the Marshalls, just like in this novel.

U.S. Marshal Madison James and Jonas Quinn are brought together in an effort to track down high-profile prisoners. It should have been an easy transfer transporting two prisons across county in a private plane. But things turn deadly along the way. When Madison and Jonas get their bearings, they quickly work together to find a way out of this impossible situation.

This is an action filled page turner that leaves you wanting more. This is the first book in the U.S. Marshall series. The author leaves readers with an intriguing mystery hanging for book two. It is to find out who’s made things personal for Madison by leaving a black rose for her to discover on the anniversary of her husband’s death. Looking forward to the next book in this series, no doubt heading for more suspense and danger. This book would work well for your next book club meeting.

Talk about a cliffhanger! This was a great read by Lisa Harris. I couldn’t put this one down and I’m looking very forward to the next one in the series. US Marshals are escorting two high-risk prisoners to another prison when their plane goes down. They are always one step behind until they finally get a break. I don’t want to use any spoilers, so I’ll just say you’ll definitely want to read this book if you like Christian suspense. Five stars.

The first book in the U.S. Marshals series will introduce readers to Madison James and Jonas Quinn, both marshals. While transporting two prisoners their small plane crashes during turbulence and the hunt begins to catch the escapee. Barrick, the prisoner is very cunning and has quite a few tricks up his sleeve to escape being caught. This realistic story gives readers a glimpse into the U.S. Marshals agency. Very enjoyable! Recommended!

I struggled between the need to stay enveloped in the suspense of this story and sleeping/working. This feeling does not often happen for me.
Madison and Jonas are US Marshalls transporting two dangerous inmates when their plane crashes. One prisoner dead and one on the run heats up the seriousness of their task. When it turns into a game of cat and mouse, life gets crazy.
This book had my blood pressure raised (not good for me) and I was glued into the story. The only thing i didnt like was how it ended because based on the title, it is the first of a series. However, not having the story perfectly tied up didnt stop md from loving it and not wanting tonhave to wait a long time to read the next one.
This might be one of my fave ARCs that I received from Netgalley so far and it was a pleasure to give my honest review.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

This one is a must read! Add it to your list when it releases on November 3, because Lisa Harris has done it again!

This is the first book in her new US Marshals series and, like her previous series, it contains a story arc that is resolved within the novel, along with a couple of continuing story arcs that will carry through the series.

Madison and Jonas are US Marshals doing a prisoner transport when the plane crashes and one of their prisoners - a murderer - escapes. What ensues is an action-packed cat-and-mouse chase across the country.

Madison and Jonas are both wonderfully complex characters with well-developed back stories that influence their actions, and I look forward to spending more time with them as the series continues. Barrick - the fugitive prisoner - is also a fascinating and well-developed character, despite probably spending less than 3 pages of the book actually present in person.

Honestly, this was one of those books that was so well written that you just lose yourself in the story and there’s nothing that jars you out of it, or reminds you that you’re only reading a story. This one really came to life and leapt off the page for me.

There’s only one problem with it - I now can’t wait for the next book in the series and this one isn’t even out yet!!!

Review of Advanced Reader eBook

Two US Marshals, Madison James and Jonas Quinn, transporting two prisoners from the Pacific Northwest to Denver, are temporarily knocked unconscious when the plane crashes in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. One of the prisoners, Paul Riley, dies in the crash; the other, Damon Barrick, escapes.

Desperate to disappear, Barrick will do anything to remain free but the marshals are determined to re-capture the fugitive. Can they find the elusive prisoner before he puts others in danger?

Believable characters, a strong sense of place, and a compelling plot make this an action-packed, exciting narrative. The cat-and-mouse chase between the marshals and the escaped prisoner keeps the suspense building while the continual tension underlying the telling of the tale and the hint of romance keep the pages turning in a book readers will find difficult to set aside.

A side story involving a black rose and the killer of Madison’s husband some five years earlier plays a part in this story but remains unresolved at the end of the book. A short opening of what appears to be the second book in this series follows “The Escape,” but readers who are not fans of cliffhangers are likely to be disappointed with the questions left unanswered.

THE ESCAPE...Lisa Harris
Five years was not enough to escape the past, since learning her husband had died from a shooting. Feeling restless was thinking of transferring to the US Marshall office in Portland, and closer to her dad. Finding Jonas the man who trained her would be her partner. Assignment of transferring two dangerous criminal from Seattle to Denver, in a small plane, a storm, caused them to a crash landing. One was now dead, the other overtook Madison and her gun, is on the run. He was the most dangerous.
A good beginning with several plots, who is leaving an item in her house on the anniversary of the death of her husband. The job that Jonas and Meredith do for the US Marshall office, and the hint of a romance. Will she move or stay in Seattle. Good characters with Madison and Jonas, and the touch of family. Fans of suspense with little to no romance will enjoy this latest book by Lisa Harris. This fast-paced book was filled with action and gave readers a look into some of the responsibilities of US Marshals. The mystery mentioned in the beginning of the story carries through into a cliffhanger at the end of the book, while this book focuses mainly on a separate storyline. It seems like our heroine will also play a starring role in book 2 of the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

This book was really good. I thought the characters had great chemistry and they finished the book with an easy segue into another book. It was not so much a cliffhanger (which I hate), as it was a teaser to get you to buy the next book. I liked that approach because I appreciate feeling like I have gotten what I paid for with a book, which is an actual ending. The ups and downs of the book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I liked that the characters got to know each other better throughout the book.

In her newest book release, Lisa Harris expertly delivers a story with intrigue, suspense and a thrilling chase. The story was well written and moved at a great pace with plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep me interested. Both Madison and Jonas are complex, well-developed characters that I found relatable and enjoyable. I was hoping for more romance in this story, but it is clearly part of a series that will continue so this book appears to lay the foundation for future stories. The Escape was a clean, easy-to-read and exciting story that I do recommend to readers who enjoy suspense and thrillers on a mild level. I’m looking forward to reading more from this series in the future and learning more about these two characters and their relationship!
