This sounds incredible, and I can’t wait to read more! The premise and timeline sucked me in from the very beginning, and I have a feeling this will be a thriller that keeps me on the edge of my seat.
I loved The Whisper Man and was excited to l get a peek at this one. From the first page, I was immediately sucked in and now I don’t want to stop reading! The writing was so good and the scenes were super atmospheric. So good! I will be reading this one ASAP.
Wow, I'm intrigued! The first line had me hooked. There's an air of mystery. The progression of events were well written. Even though I only read the first chapter, this is an edge of your seat thriller!!
What a great start to a book. I’m such a fan of The Whisper Man and based on the sampler, it looks like The Shadows will love up to it. A flashback to a previous murder and the present where Amanda Beck beginning to investigate a bizarre murder. I can’t wait!
If you loved The Whisper Man then you will this one too and Detective Amanda Beck returns! It is along the same lines of a creepy presence that is hidden. Although this is just a few chapters, it’s certainly a suspenseful and scary page turner! Thank you to Celadon and NetGalley for an ebook copy. This is my honest review.
I really loved The Whisper Man and this next book by Alex North does not disappoint! I think it is cool that the books are linked as well. It was a nice nod to the first book to have the Detective Amanda from Featherbank.
Most of the book takes place in Gritten and the story is split into before and after. The before is when Paul is a kid and friends with James, Charlie, and Billy. They are trying the succeed in lucid dreaming and connecting with each other in dreams. It is fascinating and that part (since it is quite detailed) has actually inspired me to start my own dream journal. They grow apart though, especially when there is a murder in Gritten and Billy and Charlie are guilty. Charlie however disappears and is never seen again.
The after part is 25 years later and there are copycat murders happening. Could it be Charlie, or something else? I don't want to give any spoilers, but it is a good story and has many twists to keep things interesting. I highly recommend it!
The Shadows by Alex North has been one of my most anticipated books of the year, and this first chapter sampler certainly engaged my interest and left me desperate for more. This one promises to deliver, and to not disappoint fans of the author, following the success of Mr North's wildly popular previous novel, The Whisper Man. It remains at the top of my TBR, and I cannot wait to read it in full.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Celadon Books for the opportunity of a sneak peek of this highly anticipated novel.
I was given the chance to read a few chapters of this, therefore my review is not based on the entire book. That said, I’m loving it! I’ve read The Whisper Man and this has the same feel - creepy, creepy. What happened to Charlie Crabtree? Oh my, 25 years ago he committed a murder that’s shocking it led to other copycats. Paul Adams, a classmate, returns to their home town and is brought back to those memories and uncovers the truth. Can’t wait to read the rest! Thanks to Celadon And NetGalley.
So creepy!!! The author has created a truly menacing atmosphere. The first few chapters immediately sucked me in and left me with goose bumps. I can’t wait to read more and see where the story goes! This is without a doubt my most anticipated read of the year.
