Thank you for the opportunity to read an ARC of Doodle It All by Boutique-sha in exchange for an honest review. I will be posting on Goodreads and can post to additional sites if you'd like, just let me know. I will include a hyperlink in my submission to Goodreads post.
I requested to read this ARC because I have a young cousin who is very interested in learning how to draw. She uses online video lessons and teaches herself how to trace and draw freestyle. While her techniques are self-taught, she really has a passion for it, so I try to find books that I think would help her keep sharpening those skills. This book looked 1) appealing (cute cover and illustrations -- makes me think the drawing guides will be for cute things, which she would love) and 2) easy to follow (the drawings are realistic and creative).
Ultimately, I would buy this for my cousin for those two reasons above, and also because the instructions are clear and easy to understand. The 'doodle' part was what really sells it for me. I wouldn't downplay these drawings as just merely doodles, but rather they could definitely be the start of learning how to draw elaborately if one enjoyed it. All in all, I would suggest this book, especially to those who are interested in doodles or to those with young readers who are starting off learning how to "do art!"
Doodle it all is by far one of the cutest drawing books I've had the honor of reviewing. As many of you know by now, I've been trying to learn to draw. This is becoming incredibly hard for me because I want perfection. I want my drawings to come out like I've been drawing for 20+ years, and as a baby artist, that just isn't going to happen. Perfection isn't going to happen overnight, which is why I picked this book up when I saw it offered on NetGalley. This book teaches you the step by step way to create cute little doodles. Doodles are not made to be perfect, which is pretty awesome for me. I loved challenging myself to continue drawing, and in the end, I just had fun creating.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to have fun drawing in a low-stress environment. The doodles in the book are just that, doodles. I didn't find myself comparing my doodles to the artist's doodles, which at the end of the day, gave me the confidence to try objects, animals, and people that I didn't think I could draw. This book is excellent for beginners, and I highly recommend it!
I am not much of an artist but my 8 year-old daughter LOVES art! Doodle It All by Boutique-sha is on my phone so when we go anywhere and need to wait, I just pull out my phone and she doodles on what ever she has. I now keep a notebook in my purse as well just in case she needs something to draw on. I have some super cute little doodles from her that brighten day when I run across them as well.
I have started to doodle more in fun picture forms now that I have read thru this book instead of just swirls, they become people, or possible animals when I am feeling the need to doodle.
Super fun book!
This book brings such fun to relaxation time! I’m a woman in mid life but I’m sure I got as much enjoyment out of this book as someone much younger. With tips on materials as well as guidance how to create a multitude of doodles it would be a great gift idea. My artistic nieces would adore the book! I can imagine it will provide hours of fun.
Doodle it all is a book that will show you how to doodle cute drawings. As with most how to books, the first section of doodle it all deals with materials and general information, such as how to colour or shade your drawings. The second part of the book contains the step by step guides, and there are lots! If you can think it, it’s probably in this book. I also really liked that there was an index at the back of the book to allow you to quickly find what page you need for a specific doodle.
The step by step instructions are perfect for beginners like me who wouldn’t know where to begin when drawing sushi, a camel or even the Eiffel Tower. I also really like that a lot of the doodles also showed different variations, for example how to draw a dog facing forwards, or a cat stretching. The book also touches on decorative frames and even some simple lettering.
These doodles would be perfect for use on your calendar, diary, mail, revision cards and lunchbox notes to name just a few!
Overall, an excellent book accessible to anyone young or old, who wants to learn how to draw cute doodles.
Doodle It All walks you through how to do all kinds of drawings from food to people to animals. Some of the doodles are more elementary than others. It's a fun book to doodle along with and learn to draw new things that might not have been in your regular doodles.
**I received an e-ARC from NetGalley for an honest review**
I've never been good at any kind of drawing, so I was excited to get the opportunity to review this book.
There's a huge variety of doodles to learn from, with step by step instructions for most. The doodles themselves tend to be cartoonish and childlike, but that's part of the charm. I plan to use my doodles to enhance my journaling and my planners.
This would be a great book for families to work on together. It's definitely not for a more experienced artist, unless they are looking to learn more about this particular art style, but it's a fun book that anyone can learn from.
"Doodle It All" is a very cute book that teaches you how to draw with adorable illustrations and tips. The book starts out going over different pen types, techniques, and materials before going into drawing. "Doodle it All" simplifies drawing by breaking everything down into "basic shapes" and covers a wide range of subjects such as animals, people, food, plants, household items, clothing, hobbies, buildings, and even famous land marks. It also provides tips like showing emotion and drawing by different angels.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in drawing and arts/crafts.
I was surprised really like this book. The doodles are very simple any child or adult (who believes they can’t draw) would be able to draw everything. They are simple and cartoon like images but I liked them. It also has lots of examples of patterns and styles of lettering. A good quick reference when you want to add a personal touch to a letter (yes I do still write letters) or Cards or labels. Yes I would buy this.
The doodles are simple and cute. The directions are easy to follow and I think overall a reader could create a unique, hand-drawn design to embellish a letter or card.
This book not only breaks down the steps to create flowers, people, faces, and animals, but also suggest PENS! The author reviews different coloring methods to create different effects. Great resource for the beginner or expert young artist.
Super cute book with lots of doodling ideas. It starts off with some really easy ones (ideal for people like me, who have no drawing skills) and goes on to slightly more complex ones. I liked how some of the doodles had a couple of options of how to do them, usually a complicated one and an easier one. Fun way to spend an afternoon!
This book is really handy for people who may be overwhelmed with the idea of learning how to draw/doodle. It breaks everything down into easy-to-follow steps, and there's no reason to feel intimidated. Once you've gone through a few of the examples, it's easy to see how you can add some of your own style to make each doodle your own!
4 happily doodled stars
Doodle It All: Learn to draw with over 1000 cute & easy step-by-step illustrations is a fun and complete book for doodlers of all ages. It starts with brief suggestions on ballpoint pens, other things to draw on, and coloring techniques. Illustrations are easy to follow and text is kept to a minimum.
The pictures are cute, relatively simple (or broken down into steps) and appealing. Unlike many books of its ilk, Doodle It All appeals to both boys and girls. Starting off with animals, it moves on to people and then adds expressions, clothing, and motions. Some of the many categories are food, flowers and plants, home and hobbies and transportation. I thought the bicycle was particularly charming. I also appreciated the Around the World drawings in our diverse world. The book gives suggestions for simple diary doodles too. Best of all, there is an index that makes it easy to find all these fun doodles!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
More than one thousand doodles of almost anything that you might want to put into your calendar, planner or on anything that could put a smile on your recipient's face, such as on an envelope or in a card.
Almost all the drawings are very cute, though I did think there are a very few that needed to be cuter. Ha!
The step-by-step instructions will be helpful for the beginner though the more complicated ones may be a bit more difficult to follow at first. However, as with almost anything in life, practice makes perfect.
The frames towards the end are a nice touch.
Very useful resource to have on hand for when you want to add a little cuteness to anything!
Thank you Netgalley and Zakka Workshop for the ARC. This is my honest review.
I love this book! It moves doodling up a level providing step-by-step illustrations and directions for producing doodles in various categories. No longer will you sit in a meeting or waiting room and just mindlessly doodle. Instead, you will be developing your skills in this area as the book also shows ways to utilize doodling with coloring techniques for decorative purposes. Great idea for personal use and as a gift.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by the publisher and Net Galley. However, the thoughts expressed are totally my own.
It is a very useful yet funny book, especially if you want to start learning from scratch. I was looking for a long time for such a book, as I was interested to develop my own book illustrations but was not confident enough to proceed further with the project because I considered myself not gifted enough. As I proceed step-by-step following the very simple directions in this book I am now at least at stage one and looking further for more exercises to advance my skills.
Doodle It All addresses both children and adults therefore it offers inspiration for some nice family projects, with or without the lockdown. A very recommended read for a relaxed staycation holiday.
3.5 rounded up.
So many little doodles that many people could play off of. They really are simple and cute and accessible. Food, animals, walking vs. sitting, handwriting options, the book goes on and on.
Fun for a doodler to pas through or make their own version of.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book is perfect for a little unwind time. It’s years since I doodled but the easy to follow instructions and beautiful illustrations persuaded me to have a go again.
My grandchildren enjoyed the book as well and we had a giggle at our attempts!, A wet afternoon activity which was great fun.
A very inspirational book which can be enjoyed by all ages and maybe if I can improve, doddles may appear on my other crafting projects .
Thank you netgalley and the publishers for my chance to rediscover doodling
It's a wonderful resource to give anyone (especially to adults!) the courage to just go ahead and doodle! It's beautifully illustrated, clear steps and pretty colors, so that nothing seems too difficult to tackle. It's also a source of inspiration for later, when the pupil begins to have some confidence in working the pens. Of course, when it comes to books about something that is practical, like doodling clearly is, practice is the key. Without practice, this is just a book with cute, tiny drawings made by all sort of artists and illustrators. But, when the reader becomes a pupil in the art of doodling, the book is a manual to keep close and follow. So this book is what the reader makes of it.
