I listened to this on audio and it the narration was great. I have read most of the Baxter books and it is like coming home listening to the stories of the Baxter family. This book tells the story of the next generation of the Baxter family focusing on Tommy Baxter. I would recommend this series for those that enjoy Christian fiction.

I love everything by Karen Kingsbury. And the Baxter family has long been one of my favorite families that Karen has created. There's a lot going on in this story: a high school romance that has all the elements of lasting forever until tragedy strikes. There's a part of 9/11 that has to be dealt with 20 years later. There's a young man's career choice that his mother has to come to terms with. It's very sweet story of being totally reliant on God to get you through, make a way, heal, love, and comfort. Thanks for another great book, Karen!

This book reflects back on 911. We will never forget! A wonderful love story too. Thank you to the publisher and Karen Kingsbury for allowing me to read this book.

While I haven't read all of the Karen Kingsbury books, the ones I do read always manage to bring out tons of emotions! I was able to read the book as a stand-alone, but I think it would be better to read in the right order.

The book covers the romance of Tommy Baxter and his young girlfriend, Annalee Miller. Dealing with her health crisis, and his own internal debate of what to do/where to go with his life, the book is filled with hard decisions and lots of prayers.

Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced copy!

I am reviewing a copy of Truly, Madly, Deeply through Atria Books and Netgalley:

After Eighteen year old Tommy Baxter declares that he wants to be a police officer to his family, his Mother Reagan won’t hear of it. She’s still mourning the death of her own father on September 11 and she’s determined to keep her son safe from danger. Tommy’s Father is proud of of Tommy’s decision. He believes his son would make a kind and compassionate cop.

In the meantime Tommy has fallen in love for the first time, his relationship with Annalee Miller almost feels to good to be true. Tommy starts to seriously thinking about the day when he can ask her to marry him. When Annalee begins feeling unwell and tests reveal the unthinkable, they pray for a miracle.

While Annalee is fighting for her life, Tommy becomes more determined to learn more about the circumstances surrounding his birth and the grandfather he never knew. In the process secrets come to light that rock Tommy’s world and he becomes determined to spend his future fighting crime and bringing peace to the streets. Or perhaps this is just another way to fight a battle he cannot win, Annalee’s battle!

Will Annalee get her healing, and Annalee and Tommy get their happily ever after?

I give Truly, Madly, Deeply five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

I did not realize this was the 6thbook to a series.
When eighteen-year-old Tommy Baxter declares to his family that he wants to be a police officer after graduation, his mother, Reagan, won’t hear of it. After all, she’s still mourning the death of her own father on September 11 and she’s determined to keep her son safe from danger and disaster. But Tommy’s father, Luke Baxter, is proud of Tommy’s decision, even arranging for his son to take part in a ride-along program with the Indianapolis Police Department.
Annalee Miller has been a family friend for years. Their relationship is sweet and too good to be true. After prom, Tommy begins seriously thinking about asking her to marry him but she hasn’t been feeling well. Days later, tests reveal the unthinkable.
This is a very emotional book. Tommy acts very mature for his age and knows what he wants. Annalee is battling something and together their love story will have you in tears. Sometimes I would forget that they were only 18.
I did not feel like I was missing anything by not reading the other books in the series.
I received this from Atria and NetGalley for review.

Anyone who has followed the Baxter family will want to read this story of their grandson, Tommy! Tommy shows a maturity far beyond a high school senior as his girlfriend, Annalee, is diagnosed with cancer. I admired how both Tommy and Annalee had a deep faith in God and wanted His will in their lives. My heart went out to Reagan, Tommy's mother, when Tommy announces that he wants to be a police officer. Reagan has to learn to trust God with her son no matter what his career is. Truly, Madly, Deeply reminds us to trust God rather than worrying about our health or our safety. I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

This book was okay. I don’t know what it was that I didn’t really love. I think sometimes the whole Baxter family seems a bit too perfect, but they aren’t. They have their share of problems but it seems like the only people around them are all Christians, which isn’t realistic.

Also, as far as I know the high school the kids attend is a public high school and the principle lead the school in a prayer. That couldn’t happen in a public school, no matter the principle’s personal beliefs. Maybe I’m wrong and it is a Christmas school, but it didn’t sound like it.

Definitely some heartwarming and tugging moments, which Karen is good at. But this wasn’t one of my favorites.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

This was another great book by Karen Kingsbury. The parent and child relationship was really well done. As a parent, I can identify with many of the feelings the mom experienced. The romantic relationship was maybe a bit beyond reality for high schoolers. Overall a good read.

For eighteen years readers have been following the Baxter family and always celebrating when a new book is published. Well, it’s time to celebrate with Truly, Madly, Deeply. This entry is sweet, sad and like a warm blanket on a cold night. Ms. Kingsbury is a master of grabbing the reader into the life of this wonderful family. Although a reader never having read an entry from the Baxter family series, may not feel like they just stepped back home, they will feel apart of this family after reading this entry.
I received an ARC ebook from NetGalley and the publisher, Atria Books, in exchange for an honest review.

I always enjoy returning to the Baxter family! I found myself praying along with the characters over the course of the story - as Annalee faces an uncertainty that no teenager should have to face. As I traveled through the pages, I felt like I was there with Tommy, Annalee and their friends and family. I always appreciate how Karen Kingsbury addresses hard topics with love, grace and faith. I'm looking forward to the day I get to visit the Baxters once again.

Focused around Tommy and his girlfriend, Annalee, this story is a heartwarming reminder of God’s goodness. Through the story we follow Tommy as he struggles with getting his family to accept his new career choice as a police officer and also with Annalee’s health struggle. Through the book we see Tommy’s faith waver and strengthen. I couldn’t read this book fast enough.

Karen Kingsbury books always have a way of pulling at my heartstrings, and Truly, Madly Deeply was no different! The Baxter family books are some of my favorites and I feel like I'm catching up with old friends each time I read one. As a sister to a LEO, I appreciated how the author talked about what life is like for some law enforcement officers behind the scenes and their families that worry about their safety, while also acknowledging the profession isn't perfect. This book tackles a lot of really tough topics such as childhood cancer, sex trafficking, terrorist attacks of 9/11 , and police officer and community relations. * Semi-spoiler alert * My one complaint about this book would be that everything seemed to be wrapped up too neatly and perfectly. While I absolutely love happy endings, I feel like the way each story line was wrapped up was a bit unrealistic. Kingsbury's earlier works are my favorites, but I love these characters and getting updated on their lives! This book could be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the other Baxter family books to understand some of the characters back stories a little better.. Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this advanced copy!

I'll be honest here, I'm a Karen Kingsbury fan and someday I hope to read most of her works, but this one did not start well for me at all. Let me add, it did finish well, but it did pass through my mind to set the book aside and find something else. So take heart and press on, it will be worth it.

The book starts out with Tommy and Annalee being head over heels in love as high schoolers and it felt too perfect to be real. And he seemed just too involved in her life in ways that it seemed her parents should be.

However, real life hits and Annalee is diagnosed with something far deadlier than mono as they had all been hoping and Tommy's devotion to her is put on the line and he lives it out. He is dedicated to her and spends as much time as possible with her. But on the home front for Tommy things are a little tense. His mother is not pleased with his career choice and it's not so much because she feels he's too good for it, but that she's his mom and she is scared. "Can seeds of faith be choked out by worry?"

And that is the question that so many characters in this book needed to face.

But what kind of clinched the book for me was the Christmas Eve service. I had just read about Mary being committed to letting God do the impossible in her life. And it had stuck out to me how Mary was willing and how God couldn't have or likely wouldn't have worked in Mary's life like He did if she hadn't been willing. And then at the Christmas Eve service, Karen talks about Mary and Joseph's fear and how they were scared and yet willing to be used of God. "We're all afraid of something. We're human. But tonight, God wants us to lay our fear at the foot of the manger. The way Mary and Joseph did. And do this...Keep walking. Keep seeking His plan. And keep believing...The miracle you're waiting for might be closer than you think." I just love this idea. As we sit here and the pandemic still seems to be in full swing, nine months later, and the holidays are coming and there's fear and there's sickness and yet God is here and we need to trust and keep walking, keep believing for that miracle. It might just be a miracle in my own life to be accepting of where I am right now in life, but it's still a miracle.

So in the end, the book totally redeemed itself. The romance between Tommy and Annalee was still a little much for me, but the other parts of the book were very relatable and the romance was clean.

I received this book from Atria Books via NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I had such high expectations for this book thanks to recommendations and reviews on Goodreads but for me, it just didn't bring the punch I was hoping for. Maybe because this is part of a longer list of books in the Baxter Family series.

I found this book to be unbelievable on many levels and while I get that it's a work of fiction, I have to think too much creative thinking can ruin a storyline. I also struggled with the spiritual aspects of this story. The way it was worked into this novel didn't sit well with me. Especially Tommy's thoughts towards the end of the book.
