Truly, Madly, Deeply is the latest Karen Kingsbury book about the Baxter family. Throughout the book, Tommy struggles with two things- his girlfriend’s health and wanting to be a police officer in today’s society.
While I love Karen Kingsbury books, sometimes I wish she would go deeper into the plot. Tommy was struggling with his faith and then a few pages later he was on solid ground again with his faith. He and his mom were at odds about his career choice and then it was resolved quickly. His girlfriend’s health was hanging in the balance throughout the entire novel and then she’s completely better the last couple pages of the book, without much detail. I just wish there was more depth in the storylines.
Overall, I enjoyed the book as I usually do with Karen Kingsbury novels.

Truly, Madly, Deeply is a moving and inspirational read. The story is not described as Christian Fiction, but the religious theme Is consistent throughout. As a non religious reader, I did not find it overbearing, but skipped ahead a few times when scripture was being quoted or referenced. Follow young love through the trials and tribulations of a life changing medical diagnosis and a career decision that may put Tommy in harms way. Tommy and Annabelle’s relationship and faith will be tested. Overall, a emotional and enjoyable read.

I have read all of the Karen Kinsbury books in the Baxter series. This book was the best, just like the others. It can also be said that it is a stand alone book and so if you have not read the 30 or more books about this family, you will not be out of the loop. This book discusses cancer and child trafficking, which could be a trigger to some people. Even though, the author does a good job at making you feel that you are right along side the characters in the book. The main character, Tommy, is struggling with many different things. To become a cop, having a girlfriend battling cancer, and also just things that come up in daily life. His family and his faith help him to move beyond what is going on day to day and to focus on the future. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially those who have read this authors other books.

Another great addition to the beloved Baxter series. I’ve read all of the Baxter series, along with most of Karen’s other books (only 3 more stand alone to go!). They always have just the right amount of hard times combined with (sometimes) happy endings. I loved how this book focused on issues that are going on today with the police force. I love reading about all the Baxter kids’ kids now! Tommy and Annalee’s relationship was so sweet. I also liked that this book revisited 9/11 and the circumstances of Reagan’s father’s death. It was good to catch up on Ashley and Landon (which are probably my favorite Baxter couple). I highly recommend the whole Baxter series. They always bring me comfort and fill my faith tank back up. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

Tommy Baxter and Annalee Miller are in love and looking forward to their senior year in high school. What could be more idyllic? When Annalee begins struggling with constant fatigue, tests reveal frightening news. Tommy's faith is put to the test as he watches his girlfriend struggle. In the midst of the turmoil and uncertainty, Tommy becomes firmly convicted to seek information about becoming a police officer. His family has different plans for him. Will he have the courage to tell them the truth?

Continuing the saga of the Baxter clan, the author has her characters face some tough issues. At the center of it all is a foundation of faith and family. This book would be an excellent inspirational addition to any adult or young adult fiction collection.

Karen Kingsbury is known for thoughtfully crafting biblically-based, family-friendly novels. "Truly, Madly, Deeply" follows the story of Tommy and Annalee, two teenagers in love who face overwhelming obstacles. Annalee is diagnosed with cancer and must learn how to keep her faith throughout the pain and hardship. Tommy believes God is calling him to be a police officer, but how can he convince her parents that this is true? I feel like Kingsbury's books usually wrap up too neatly, and this one is no exception. However, I do appreciate that I know it will be a clean, feel-good book.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
