This is my second Sally Hepworth book and she's becoming one of my favorite go-to authors!! I love the family dynamic of this book and how mental illness takes a role in the plot of the story. I devoured this in a day, because there was no stopping point! I needed to know what happened.

Absolutely love this book.! I felt it was very well written and had a great surprise ending that I never expected the characters were very well described to.

I hadn't read anything by Sally Hepworth before reading this. Oops! I'll be rectifying that oversight after reading The Good Sister. This story of twin sisters, who alternately narrate their story, is fascinating. The two couldn't be more different. But it becomes clear that each has her own version of their shared life experiences - the question becomes which version is the truer one? This is one of those books about which it's difficult to say much without giving too much away. But I will say that I very much enjoyed the read and watching the mysteries of their lives unfold.

This is a story about two twin sisters, Rose and Fern. The book starts with the journal of Rose who has been urged by her therapist to write her feelings as she struggles with fertility . Fern is a librarian and wrestles with relationships, bright lights, loud noises and a break in her routines .

Growing up was difficult as they had a mother who was an emotional hot mess.

Fern meets Rocco(Wally) and they start a relationship until she becomes pregnant and she decides to have Rose raise the baby because she feels she can’t do it herself and doesn’t tell Rocco she is pregnant . After Fern has the baby she starts to question whether of not she wants Rose to raise it. Fern thinks back about her sister’s actions throughout the years and wonders if Rose is the one not capable.

This book was a great domestic drama. So stressful and gave me so much anxiety. Loved the twists and loved the main characters.

Sally Hepworth is a fabulous author of suspense! In The Good Sister, twins Fern and Rose navigate their adult lives after growing up in an unstable childhood home with their mother. Each telling one half of a story, though the audience isn't always sure of who is telling the truth.

Being the suspicious reader I am (especially with Hepworth works) I was able to see the twist well in advance, but the plot was laid out well none the less. Overall, a great read and one I would recommend to many.

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one. I actually started it awhile ago and put it down. I had been seeing great reviews on it so I decided to pick it up again. I am so glad I did!

This story took me on a wild ride once I got into it. Fern, Rose and Wally were amazing characters. My mind was thinking one thing and the author would turn the story to complete opposite. Which I love when a book can do that!

It ended up being a quick fast paced read that I thoroughly enjoyed. If you’re looking for a twisty family drama definitely check out this book!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

4.1 - really enjoyed this one, especially Fern and Wally - it was a pageturner, and the characters were vibrant, both likeable and unlikeable

I had never read a book by Sally Hepworth and am excited to check out her other titles at my library as soon as possible! This book was such a great domestic thriller. The writing quickly pulled me in and I was drawn immediately to the character of Fern. The descriptions of Fern's need for order and the way she described the sensory issues Fern dealt with, was quite impressive. I also loved the relationship between Fern and Wally and between Fern and her coworkers (especially Carmel).

Fern and Rose are twins, but as different as you could be. The story in this book goes back and forth between Ferns POV in real-time and Rose's diary entries, giving us a glimpse into the girls' past and the difficult upbringing they had. But, not everything is as it seems with the sisters.

I read this book in a day and didn't want Fern's story to end! I am a huge Sally Hepworth fan! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ability to read the advanced copy of this book.

Perfect read to slip away from the 🌎 for a bit.

Loved all the characters, especially Fern. The pace was a bit slow throughout, but those last 50 pages were the 💣! The only thing missing for me was a final confrontation between the two at the end, but I think the author got it right.

Highly recommend!

I feel like the title gives this one away - but even knowing who was behind it, this was a fun read. MC was interesting, and there were a few good twists.

Sally does it again! A stellar book with such twisty tales that have you guessing right until the end!
Let me know if you guessed the outcome... I was shocked by the final twist... no spoilers here, just wanting you to pick up this gem and read it! Then go grab Sally's other books and definitely follow her on Instagram to laugh your butt off with her switch to hilarity and amazing sense of humor - especially when reading her 1 star reviews. Such a different look at Sally's character from a dark and twisted book to her funny presence on social media. Makes you wonder about thriller authors, that's for sure!

So am I a bit in between with this one. I think that it’s labeled as a thriller but in reality it get more of a mystery than a thriller.

However, despite it not living up to the thriller aspect for me the writing and story itself was great! It was so easy to read this one because of the fast paced writing. I could not and did not want to put this book down.

I think the in-depth nature of Hepworths writing style is what draws readers in. She does a wonderful job of diving deep into the characters personalities. A great read!

So good! My first Hepworth novel and it didn't disappoint! She is a beloved author on bookstagram and I can see why. I've avoided domestic thrillers for a while, but this was fun!

Y'all Hepworth always knows what's up! LOVED this book, and pretty much everything about it. There was one character I couldn't stand, but when you read it, you'll know what I mean. Lots of good twists and unexpected things along the way. The story is amazing and I can't wait to read Hepworth's next book!

If you're looking for a good psychological thriller, look no further. Hepworth does a fantastic job of weaving between the voices of two narrators, twins - Fern and Rose.

Rose's story is one of a traumatic, abusive childhood. A mother who barely tolerated them and was severely punitive, withholding food and her affection. Rose was forced to protect her twin, Fern, from the brunt of it.

Fern is eccentric. She prefers order and routines. She has a sensory processing disorder that keeps her away from strong smells, loud sounds, and groups of people. She spends her days working in the library, doing yoga, and spending time with Rose, who has continued to look after her even as adults.

Then Fern meets "Wally" and makes a decision that changes the course of her life. I loved how this book switched between narrators so that you had two different perspectives to view situations from and I didn't see the ending coming!

This was a twisty story about the relationship between two sisters and the lengths they will go to help and protect one another. If you enjoy unreliable narrators, this book is for you. I started to guess the twist about half way through, but enjoyed the story line and the little bit of romance.

There is no doubt that sisters have a special bond. Sometimes it can be a push and pull relationship, but there is no doubt that it is a bond unlike any other.

Fern and Rose are fraternal twins. Although very different from each other, they both rely on each other for certain things. Rose is a person with diabetes and Fern is a person with sensory processing disorder. The author, Sally Hepworth, does an EXCELLENT job of describing what life can be like for someone that struggles with SPD. You become enveloped in the character, Fern, who is oversensitive to things in her environment.

I loved this book because it is a psychological thriller (my favorite genre), which made me want to keep reading, but I also loved the characters. It focused on family relationships, and it had a nice love story mixed in. The characters were well-developed, and I will remember them for awhile.

I gave this book five out of five stars. I was given this book for my honest review. I can't wait to read more books by Hepworth.
