What starts out as a lark turns into something much much more in this story of a woman who goes out on a limb and then climbs back down the tree. Larisa comes back to her Aunt's home that was left to her parents and thinks of as hers and then begins lying, lying, and still tells more lies--to everyone. But then as liars often do, she begins to get caught and then her life, after unspooling, begins to be put back together. This book was very hard for me to read as her mother has dementia (I don't think the author ever labeled it as Alzheimer's), which runs in my family, so I saw a lot of what happened to my grandmother and mother in the story and the fear of what might happen to me was always in the background. Not to give anything way, I would have like to read an epilogue...I know I can create the ending I want, but I would have liked to see how the author would have resolved the story.

This book is a great debut. So much depth and story building.

They always say everything for the wedding will fall into place you purchase the dress…so that means a groom will appear too… right?

I loved this book maybe it was because my daughter was getting married and I was swept along with the romance of it all but yes lovely book which I finished it in a day.

Larisa decides to buy the perfect wedding dress she found in the little French bridal shop in Massachusetts, even though she has no fiance or real plans to get married. She has to cope with her parents in a retirement home because of her mom's dementia, and to decide about the great house her Aunt Ursula left them in her will.

This is a cute romance about a dream coming true, after much travail and trials, and Larisa finding a use for her wedding dress, after much time and effort have passed.

I enjoyed the light and entertaining and hopeful read.

Slow but still a good read. I just couldn't connect with the main character or accept some of the events that happened. It's like the story started without a compass of how it would get to where it was going in the end.

While I enjoyed the start fo the book, and felt promise, it ultimately fell a bit flat for me. This is definitely a character-driven story that is a bit slow moving. It seems like it is an exploration of marriage and relationships - so if you enjoy commentary on relationships, wile being to invest time in two characters, this may be a good fit for you.

Great plot to get yourself lost in. This book has everything. A real fast paced thriller. Will get your heart racing on more than one occasion. Very well written. Highly recommend this book

Mon Dieu! How much I love anything French and when a potentially gorgeous event like a wedding with a second change romance, added to it, I'm hooked.

But for Larisa, who's come to town to settle things with her late, great-aunt's estate, it's anything but a happy occasion. She's got no job, no significant other, and her emotional state sits down around dismal.
So when she wanders town and ends up at this lovely bridal shop where a dress screaming her name is displayed.

What harm could come from trying on a dress, right?

Instead of it being a disaster through a series of events Larisa not only finds her dress, but ends up making arrangements for floral designs and registering for china patterns. Problem is, there's no groom.

Yet.

Enter Jack, a high school friend and all around great guy who helps Larisa navigate the insanity that has taken on a life of its own.

Dupee's debut novel is lovely, fun, and at time, tear jerking as we find that sometimes, the difficult things we've chosen to ignore, are the things we must face head on to get to our happily ever afters.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and also mentioned the book on my TV segment with San Antonio Living.

While The Little French Bridal shop is a good book, I have to say I was left a little disappointed. I couldn't quite get behind the heroine, possibly because of the more unbelievable events that took place, though Jennifer Doupe did a fine job attempting to make it all make sense. I just never found a true emotional connection to her or the hero and therefore didn't get fully invested into their romance.

Obviously, the cover is beautiful and the romance is a nice story. Given the core of the book, I would want to read another from Jennifer Dupee to see where she goes from here.

THE LITTLE FRENCH BRIDAL SHOP by Jennifer Dupee is a good read. The main character Larisa find herself in a predicament of her own making that is relatable, awkward, and funny. So it’s the ideal hook to get you to read the book to find out how she resolves it all. I wanted to know how it was all going to work out. I enjoyed it.

This book was wonderful to read. The world building was so well done that I felt like I was there with the characters. The story focuses on a lot of real life themes but not to the point where they're depressing, lol.

The Little French Bridal Shop // by Jennifer Dupee

I really hate to say this because this is a title I've been looking forward to very much... but I really struggled with this book. The synopsis sounded great and I love a story where characters learn big life lessons but this just did not work out for me in the end. I don't mind unlikeable characters here and there if they're done well but I flat out despised the two main characters throughout the majority of this book. I really struggled to connect with them and be understanding because I felt so much like the struggles they had just simply were their own fault. They dug themselves into deeper and deeper holes throughout the book, all the while lamenting about their struggles. Put down the dang shovel you're using to dig your own hole!

I really liked some of the side characters and the town seemed absolutely charming. The ending also pulled up the story a little bit with its life lessons and introspection. I can see the author be able to write a story and characters that I would enjoy more based on that, but this particular book just did not work out for me.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

So sorry but we just couldn't get into this book. Had a good go at 60 pages in but got a little bored. My sister is getting married though and she really liked it, so maybe its good for anyone with weddings on their mind or someone who is planning a wedding!
