It was sweet - not intentionally trying to do a cupcake joke, but it's very true. I am very hungry and very much in need of a cupcake after reading this.
Our sweet tale opens with Blaire as she prepares to open her new cocktails and cupcakes shop - which btw sounds like a fabulous combo. Then suddenly, a loud and ferocious tremor rattles the sweet shop and causes a fantastical unicorn martini glass to fall from a shelf on the wall joining the shop to the bar next door and shatter. Enraged by this terrible unicorn tragedy, Blaire rushes to avenge her unicorn and meets the lumberjerk - Ronan. Apparently ax throwing is gonna be a thing next door. Que the immediate rivalry.
I'm interested to see how the story continues, but from what I've read so far, it doesn't really make a ton of sense why Blaire feels like there is such a competition between her cupcake shop and the sports bar next door. They are very different things and if you want a cupcake you're not likely to head to the sports bar, and if you want to watch the football game you're not likely to hit up the cupcake shop.

Such a cute preview to this book! I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of it now. Helena can do no wrong, her rom-coms are always delightful and I have a feeling the rest of this one will be just as good!

My only complaint about this preview of Kiss My Cupcake? It's too short!
Helena Hunting's signature humor and engaging writing style are definitely present. I loved this introduction to Blaire and Ronan and the battle between her cupcake and drinks cafe and his bar next door.
I am really looking forward to reading the whole book!

I loved this preview of Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting! I pre-ordered the book as soon as I finished the preview and can't wait to read it in August.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and the author for the opportunity to read this wonderful preview!

The review below is based on a preview (first four chapters) from Netgalley, not the entire book.
This is a really funny story with great potential. I really liked Blaire. She seemed to be very ambitious and focused. The conversations between her and other characters such as Daphne flow really well and they’re both very realistic.
The idea for the story is really clever and original too. The rivalry between the two businesses owners, Blaire and Ronan, made it a really amusing read. This book has the enemies to lovers trope and from what I have read, it is done really well. It seems quite natural for them to have a rivalry considering the circumstances and even though Blaire hates him at the start you can tell there’s a lot of tension in the air that will most likely be explored later in the book.
Helena Hunting has a knack for writing romance books and I can’t wait to read the rest of this one!

Helena's new book is fast-paced and a fun read. It's about Blaire's cupcake business and her relationship with her lumberjack neighboor Ronan, who happened to open a bar right next door (which features "super normal and calm stuff" like axe-throwing contests). Their competition for more clients is intense, until they have to work together in order to overcome a third rival that later arrives in town. This is a clear enemies-to-lovers trope with a simple and predictable narrative, which is perfect for those who are looking for a light rom-com this summer.

I love reading previews for my most anticipated releases! I have enjoyed all of Helena Hunting's books so far so I cannot wait to read this one further. Cupcakes are my favorites and I love the enemies to lovers trope so I can already tell I am going to love this one.

This preview of the first 4 chapters is great. I love Helena Hunting, and I can already tell this is going to be a great enemies to lovers story. Blair’s absolutely hates Ronan right now, but we all know how this is going to end up. Plus, the cupcake and cocktail combos sound so good, I wish Buttercream and Booze was a real place! I can’t wait to read the full book.

I have recently finished reading a preview of Kiss my cupcake by Helena Hunting courtesy of netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is a spicy rom com with some major anger issues from the female protagonist Blair and The Hot guy and Neighboring business owner Ronan who is irking Blaire as often he can, this book definitely got off to a great start and I can’t wait to finish reading it when it comes out on August 11, 2020.

Cupcakes, cocktails, and a hot axe throwing lumberjack? Yes please! I absolutely can not wait to read the rest of this book.

I was grateful for the opportunity to read a few chapters from this book, because I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to keep it on my TBR since the plot doesn't really appeal to me and the reviews haven't been great so far, but it's hard to pass up a new Helena Hunting. I think there definitely will be people who like this book - the enemies-to-lovers romance, a "quirky" female character, some Hallmark-style cuteness with more heat - I just don't think that's me.

*Thank you netgalley for the preview*
Kiss my Cupcake is about Blaire and her desire to have her cupcake shop, Buttercream and Booze succeed. Before her opening a bar is opening next door and Blaire doesn't like this one bit. Chaos then ensues.
I really liked the preview so far! I think i'll definitely pick the copy up when its released. I love a good hate to love/rival story. I also liked getting to see the beginning of Daphne and Blaire friendship and Blaries talk of her parents/family.

This was a fun preview! The dialogues are spot on, the pacing is just right and the cast of characters is funny and likeable, The first four chapters are a promising setup for a fun enemies to lovers romcom. I am looking forward to reading the full story of Blaire and Ronan's cupcake shop/bar wars.
I received an ARC preview in exchange for an honest review.
