Fangs is adorable with humor that makes you chuckle and a romance between a vampire and a werewolf. It's not overly dramatic and plays with the stereotypes and tropes of the two supernatural beings very well. The two protagonists are understanding of the wants and needs of the other and they don't judge.
This book is just a weird, creepy, comfy hug.
Read the series on Tapas initially and enjoyed the character interaction. The mood is mostly light but you can't help but root for their relationship to work.
I was hoping for more complexity in the book version and wished we had more of their story, but ended the book just as satisfied as with the web comic series.
The art was simple but effective. The romance was cute and I really enjoyed the vampire and werewolf jokes. It's a quick and fun read, but I wish we would have gotten a little more character depth. The story felt like it only scratched the surface but it was entertaining none the less.
I love Sarah Andersen's Scribbles comics. I wasn't sure what I would think of this new and very different venture but it was wonderful. I just ordered a copy for my library.
My initial review of this book was simply "this book f*cks" because I needed to 1) read the book again, immediately, and 2) put my thoughts together before I wrote an official review. Honestly, this was such a fun and fantastic read. Yes, it was quick, but you have such a great time with it and you really could read this again and again, appreciating new things each time.
Jimmy is a werewolf, and Elsie is a vampire (she's 300, but looks 26, and don't you forget it); while you'd think their relationship would never work, opposites truly attract. Fangs is a wonderful exploration of a growing relationship, examining the fun, cute parts but also the awkwardness and unexpected pit falls. It's also a great reminder that even when we struggle with certain parts of ourselves, there is someone out there who will love us and appreciate us, with no reservations and no agenda. I really can't say enough good things about this book, what a treasure.
Cute, witty, and dark—I really enjoyed Fangs. It made me laugh out loud even if the jokes were a little punny. I really like the artistic style and how the pictures looked on the page.
If you spend any time on the internet then you're likely already familiar with the author of this graphic novel. Sarah Andersen is the author of the infamous Sarah's Scribbles, which are short relatable and funny comic strips involving a cartooned version of the author. Complete with the author's trademark humour, Fangs is very different from the Scribble's series both in its medium and content. The author takes a familiar concept but with a unique and intimate approach.
Fangs is a love story between a vampire and a werewolf. The story starts with their first date and then follows their lives as their romance progresses. It's a wonderfully simple concept and story with beautiful results. Each page is a scene in an of its self and presents a moment in time in this unique relationship. Some scenes are dark and reveal glimpses of the monsters that each of them can be but most scenes are cute, quirky, funny, romantic, and just downright delightful.
This modern take on a classic romantic theme details another side to the author's artistry and creative storytelling skills which step outside her previous style of comics. The story is immensely captivating and can speak to a wide range of readers with its content. You don't need to like the supernatural genre to appreciate the story and the characters that the author succinctly builds in this short but engaging graphic novel. The story touches on the nuisances of love and building a long and committed relationship with both its ups and downs, as well as the added intrigue of the supernatural realm and drawing on our natural curiosity of this sort of romance. The novel's presentation and engagement also makes you want to revisit the story again and again. I think my only wish with this story was that it was longer and that I wanted the story to continue further than it did.
A delightful love story, with a twist. Humor characteristic for Sarah's comics, funny and very inhabitable at the same time, even though the characters are supernatural in this case.
I'm a big fan of the many Sarah's Scribbles comics that I've seen online although I've never actually read through or purchased one of her books, and after reading Fangs I'm really questioning why! This was such a cute/weird/sweet love story between a vampire and a werewolf that had me laughing out loud and 'awwing' constantly as I read.
I admit to requesting this one without really looking at the blurb (oops) but that didn't affect my reading experience, although I was initially surprised that it wasn't a cohesive/'linear' love story but more snapshots of their relationship. Surprisingly though, you still get a good sense of how their relationship evolves over time. I loved how they found a strong connection to each other despite of or maybe even because of their very obvious differences and oddities. Although they're vampire and werewolf, they can still be completely at ease with each other and their 'true selves' that other people can't see. it was nice to see them explore these differences throughout their relationship and in that sense I think it's very relatable. Although there's none of the usual character development or plot it certainly didn't stop me from forming attachments to both characters and their relationship. They were so adorable and their love filled me up with warmth!
This is the perfect (and short) palette cleanser when you're between books/changing genres, or even for when you're just looking for something that'll give you the surprising warm fuzzies. I would definitely recommend if you're a fan of Sarah's work (or if you haven't experienced her awesome yet)!
This was an extremely cute and fun comic. I really enjoyed the art style, and the simplicity of it all being done in black and white. Really enjoyed that all the comics are just simply short scenes of the couples every day life, where despite them being short you get to understand so much about them and their relationship. I also just adored the amount of detail put into all of Elsie's outfits!
I’m going to give this 3.5 stars and round up on the actual stars.
FANGS was sweet, funny, and relatable (not in the vampire way.) Nothing surprising there. I was very excited about this book once I saw it was written by Sarah Anderson, and DOUBLY excited once I read the blurb. Vamp/werewolf romance?! Um, yes.
The thing is I think I misunderstood “chronicles” which is totally on me. I was expecting more story and meat than what I got. It really felt more like snapshots of scenes in their overall story.
However, I did adore everything I did get. It was very much on par with her Sarah’s Scribbles which I am hooked on.
Elsie is a 300 year old vampire who meets a Jimmy at a bar, who turns out to be a werewolf. They hit it off and decide to see where things go while learning about each other in the process. Like I said earlier it’s relatable because aren’t all relationships an experiment in the beginning? I loved how they were receptive to each other quirks.
The art in this is so beautiful. With lots of details you notice more on the second read. I gobbled this up in one night. This read was a really good change of pace for me.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute, quick read. I liked the puns and the drawings. I kept seeing this all over goodreads so I decided I had to check it out and I'm glad I did. Thank you netgalley and to the publisher!
First, I LOVED the illustrations. It looks so chic and clean which is what I enjoyed about in this book. Second, the werewolf and a vampire dating is a corny concept for me but in this books, it was executed well in a way that makes the characters and the story more interesting. Third, the humor. There were some jokes that was a miss for me or I just found them very cheesy; however, there were some that made me giggle while reading. Lastly, If you’re looking for a light and wholesome read then this is the one for you. It is funny, dorky and cute.
Overall, a very fun read. I may try to purchase a copy once it is released and I have the enough money to do so
Fangs is about the love story between a vampire and a werewolf. Each page shows a vignette from Elsie the vampire and Jimmy the werewolf's relationship, be it hardships they face, their mutual understanding about some topics which we humans might find weird or repulsive, or just some cute moments that they have.
The strongest feature for me was the art style. I found it to be really nice to look at and fun. I especially enjoyed the visual gags like when you can't see Elsie in the mirror but you can see her dress (although *spoilers* I found this to be not consistent as she does not show up on selfies at all, perhaps it works different for mirrors and cameras). What i didn't like about this comic book was that it really didn't bring anything new to the table, and it seemed somewhat unoriginal. I was also kind of Put off by the casual mention of murdering people. I get that the book is about the relationship between a vampire and a werewolf but murder was mentioned in such a way that it made me somewhat uncomfortable. I also had some problems about being able to connect with the characters. They seemed kind of shallow and their characters didn't go beyond the species that they are.
To wrap up, the drawings were nicely done, and if you're looking for a quick read to turn your brain off and enjoy, you might like this book.
I really do love Sarah Andersen and actually read this whole ‘novel’ on Tapas before it was released as a full book. This is a series of comics relating the relationship between a vampire and a werewolf. I really loved this and fully laughed out loud a few times. Definitely something I would come back to and read again. It’s a really quick read and doesn’t fail to bring a smile to my face.

A really cute collection of snippets about the relationship between Jimmy, a werewolf (not a husky!) and Elsie, a vampire. Full of surprisingly realistic and relatable scenes from their day to day life, this is an excellent choice for fans of paranormal fantasy and graphic novels alike. I have not read any of the author's previous work, but I will definitely be checking it out, and I am hoping we will soon get a few full length stories from this adorable couple of monsters!

I’ve enjoyed Sarah Andersen's work online and her other books and I was enthralled to pick up her latest work Fangs. This shows a love story between a vampire and a werewolf. I went into this expecting an overarching plot and storyline, however, it was formatted into small insights between 2-3 panels. I enjoyed the relationship that was shown as it was cute and had a giggle-worthy moment. I just wish there was more as it was a very short read and left me wanting more of a story. Overall, it was a fun read especially if you are wanting more vampires and werewolves in your life.

I've enjoyed Sarah's art for quite some time now, having seen it in various places across the internet, and Fangs is no exception. I'm a sucker (pun intended) for vampires and vampire/werewolf romance? Absolutely gorgeous and hilarious.
The art is charming and the jokes genuinely had me giggling. The romance is somehow relatable and I'm so eager to read more of Sarah's work now. I NEED more of Elise & Jimmy ASAP.
This is an adorable collection of one-shot stories where a 300 year old vampire meets and develops a romance with a werewolf.
I initially thought this was gonna have a plot where opposites attract and make a relationship work, but no, this is just a series of quick panels chronicling Elsie and Jimmy being together. And I love it! The snippets of their life are told with quick wit and macabre humor, and the domesticity of living together and making compromises for each other's needs are so relatable. Some of the jokes are predictable, true, but I still liked it, and honestly, in such unpredictable times, I appreciate reads that are easy to grasp and process.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for very light and fun comics, and are in need of cozy, warm vampire x werewolf romance.

Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for the DRC!
I've been a fan of Sarah Andersen for many years. If you're active on social media, I'm pretty sure you've seen some of her comics too at some point. She's extremely talented! But you probably know her from Sarah’s Scribbles, which is a completely different series. Fangs is her new work, and it's amazing!! I'm SO in love with it!!! *-*
The characters are a vampire girl and her werewolf boyfriend. And no, this is nothing like Twilight. In this case, the vampires really can't go out in the sunlight, so they only meet at night. You can't see her on pictures and mirrors, so his friends don't really believe that she exists, 'cause everything about their relationship is a bit strange... But they're really in love and each page brings a new funny/cute/romantic moment shared by them.
It made me smile and laugh out loud.
Can I give it 10 stars? I need more Fangs books!!!
