I originally found this comic on Tapas. I love Sarah's Scribbles and so I was pretty sure I would like this other comic she created. I was right! It is a different art style but the story is very cute with describing the relationship between Elsie and Jimmy, a vampire and a werewolf. There are funny scenes (like the vampire getting dressed but she can't see herself in the mirror, or the adorably cute werewolf wanting to go on a walk, but no leashes!) and touching scenes that show how much they like each other and are so compatible. It was a lot of fun to read and I definitely would not mind if it was longer! Though I do appreciate that there are more comics in this book than what was published on Tapas. That was a fun surprise to read the new ones.
This is a great comic and a good way to spend some time smiling.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for the eARC
Fangs is a short and fun read for fans of Sarah Anderson. It's charming, heart-warming, and the perfect amount of dark humour, perfect for those who can't wait for Halloween. I recommend this collection of short comics to every vampire and werewolf and creature in between out there!
The final review will be available on Geek Declassified August 31, 2020
I have been a fan of Sarah Andersen's work for a long time now. I knew this would be more of a collection of comic strips going on and Andersen is the master of the punchline. I find her work refreshing and relatable. This shows a cute relationship with characters who find the monster in each other adorable. I am biased in my love of Andersen's work - I can see where some might find this work...anemic (pun intended). There isn't a major plot or large cast of characters. But that is what I find refreshing about it. And though I only know these characters for 100 pages or so, I could see myself being reminded of them or doing a doodle of them as children/fanart.
In Fangs, a vampire and a werewolf fall in love. This book documents little everyday moments in their lives together and apart. It's one of the cutest comics I've read in a while, a lot of feel-good warm fuzzy feelings and laugh out loud moments.
If you need any cheering up, this comic is the one to grab. There isn't really anything resembling a plot, and the book is better for it. Its succinct nature communicates humor well, and I enjoyed the dichotomy of normalcy and biological/habitual quirks that werewolves and vampires both have.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Publisher for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Having seen such great early reviews for this one I just had to check out what all the fuss was about, and I totally agree with all the praise, this one is just so cute!
Here we have the time-old tale of boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy turns into a wolf... oh yeah, and that girl... she's a vampire. These are mini one-page comic strips about the relationship between a vampire and a werewolf. The art is simple but adorable, which matches the tone perfectly. And the puns are to die for (see what I did there!?)
I have not come across this author before, but I thoroughly enjoyed this first outing with her, so I'll be on the look out for more from her for sure!
Overall a very quirky and entertaining quick read. I enjoyed this one!
3.5 stars from me.

For sake of full disclosure, I hate to preface and say that I'm a huge Sarah Anderson fan, and have been reading Fangs on Tapas, painstakingly awaiting the next update since October 2019.
When I saw the announcement for this book I was super excited, so I came with very high hopes.
Fangs did not disappoint.
The added strips made it into a beautiful, cohesive story, and Sarah's art is as beautiful as ever.
5 stars and a creampuff!
The story of Fangs is not too complex: a hundred year old vampire start to date a werewolf, then they fell in love. As time goes, they grow into an interesting but special couple. Their dates and later, the common life are told in Sarah Andersen's well-known short comic-style.The daily routine we see in the two monsters is build upon typical horror stereotypes. For example, the vampire sleeps on the day, and lives during the night. The werewolf enjoys mostly free spaces and has close relationship with mother nature. The couple can not take a selfie of them, because the vampire does not has reflection. The most interesting adaptation of horror stereotypes here was the moon cycle connected to the werewolf's transformation. His monthly cycle could make everything upside down in their relationship - like menstruation.

Holi,

Holi,
I got this advanced copy from Netgalley for an honest review.
Today I will tell you about Fangs, I chose this book for one of the slogans of the Reading rush but I am curious and I finished it in an instant.
The book is basically the story of a vampire who meets a boy in a bar and turns out to be a werewolf, he is not cliche and he is not a forbidden love, I loved that. The vignettes had already been published on the author's pages and this is a compilation by the illustrator. Love as the romance progresses, until they get to live together, they talk about their ideology, beliefs, habits without forgetting the myths about vampirism and wolf status. Something father is how the love between the two makes them adapt to each other to being able to be together and their "magical" differences do not interfere in the enjoyment of their relationship.
I will get it in physical once it is published!
Regards.
Saludos.
Sarah Anderson always has a way of making her comics relatable. This book is no different, even when it's about a werewolf and a vampire dating. And if that makes you suspicious of me, that's fine. I have nothing to hide...
Anyway. I loved this book and their relationship and the silly jokes and the heartfelt moments. Truly lovely.
I think this was a really cool take on the age-old Vampire-Werewolf enmity trope! The characters were refreshingly honest & charming and the plot (?) was cute too! I might have preferred it as a webcomic since they all function as standalone comic strips but it's always great to them all in one place to see how/if they form a story! This one didn't <i> really </i> have a plot as such, but the development of their relationship was a lovely one to follow so I honestly didn't mind it!
Sarah Andersen's past comics (Adulthood is a Myth series) have always had that unique aspect of being super relatable. Somehow, talented artist that she is, she's managed to bring some level of relatability to this concept as well — and that's hard to do since none of us are vampires or werewolves (that we know of, anyway). Her art continues to impress even as she strays away from her more popular style a little!
Also, this isn't about the story & art but HOLY SMOKES did you see that book design? The cover? The red and the black? GORGEOUS.
"Did you ever date another werewolf?"
"Yes, cute girl. She could turn into a real bitch."
"Clever."
"And did you ever date a vampire?"
"Yeah! He sucked."
This graphic novel is made up from scenes between a vampiress and a wewwolf who fell in love. The pages illustrate the daily struggles they face, from dietary restrictions to the problem of how to prove your girlfriend is real when she won't show up on selfies.
Listen. This was fun, it raised my mood considerably, and it's the first arc where I think this needs to be constantly in my life, I eed to purchase it.
You will have fun. The main problem with this book is that it is short while you want more.

Fangs is a collection of comics about the relationship between a werewolf and a vampire. Each comic is a few panels long and the entire comic can be read in one sitting.
Elsie met Jimmy in a bar. They are just like any couple, except… Elsie is a vampire and Jimmy is a werewolf. Even with their differences, such as Elsie’s aversion to sunlight and Jimmy’s allergy to silver, they are perfect for each other.
Fangs is a really cute collection of comics, and I would recommend it to those who are looking for a light read.
This was such an adorably cute comic about a relationship between a vampire and a werewolf – how wonderful unique their relationship would be; from meet cute, first dates, to the talk about ex’s; the understanding and revelations of the quirks unique to them, to falling in love, moving in together and finally contemplating marriage.
Every single comic was as normal as you can get; but was also quirky, unique and absolutely adorable! Definitely and highly recommended, especially if you need a little pick me up!
Thanks to NetGalley, I managed to get a PDF copy to review.
This is a very sweet and adorable collection of comics depicting the relationship between Elsie and Jimmy, who are a vampire and a werewolf.
It’s a very well done collection of slice of life comics, threaded with cute, relatable interactions and a good dose of humour.
All in all it has a high chance of re-readability and is just overall a very lovely and sweet collection of comics.
An adorable comic strip turned to a beautiful book. A love story between a vampire and a werewolf. It' s swoon-worthy!
I really enjoyed reading this comic, it was great to see the comics collected in one volume. Sarah Andersen has a great art style and I loved her characters.
What happens when a werewolf and vampire fall in love ? This comic is what happens.
It is a Sarah Andersen spin on their relationship about their quirky everyday life
This is a simply presented graphic novel, with large illustrations - usually a max of four panels per page, that reads a bit like a weekly vampire/werewolf gag reel. Each mythical being's attributes and weaknesses are ticked off and given a joke, all under the guise of a Romeo & Juliet relationship between a vampire and a werewolf. For example, you have Wolf Boy throwing open the curtains in the morning, then profusely apologising to the Vampire Girl who gets burned by the sun. Or him trying to prove to his friend that he has a girlfriend, but the phone selfie doesn't work out because she is invisible to cameras.
The tone is quite adult and erotic in nature, with jokes about killing and sex. It's also kind of poignant, as you come to realise these two mythical beings share the experience of being removed from humanity yet wanting a very human thing - love and connection.
Overall, the jokes aren't laugh out loud, and some of them are quite sad, such as Wolf Boy being burned by the silver ring on Vampire Girl's hand as they touch. There are also many that are of "Dad joke" quality, but I think this is deliberate and the novel is never anything less than easily readable.
“Do you ever feel different?”
“At least once a month I don’t even feel human.”
Fangs by Sarah Andersen is a graphic novel about the blooming love between a vampire and a werewolf - and exactly what your heart needs right now.
Elsie is a vampire and Jimmy is a werewolf. They meet at a bar and fall into a romantic relationship that is not only supernatural, it will warm your undead heart with dark humor.
Things that worked for me:
- I enjoyed the mundane aspects of the relationship between Elsie and Jimmy. This is really where love grows and made this “monstrous” story feel more “human”.
- Laughing at the genuine interactions in the relationship, cheesy but heartwarming puns, and characterization of the two characters.
- Framing the graphic novel with vignettes of daily interactions. The plot, however, did feel cohesive despite jumping around in an unknown timeline. There is not a traditional story arc - no definitive exposition, climax, and resolution - but the focus of the narrative in the “small stuff” is perfect.
Things that didn’t:
- I would have loved to read more about Elsie and Jimmy, I really didn’t want this graphic novel to end. This piece is quite short.
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing, Sarah Andersen, and NetGalley for this e-arc. I enjoyed every moment of my reading experience.
Delightful! Read it once and had to immediately read it again to make sure I did not miss anything. I want more of this and more from this author. It is fun to watch quirky romance develop no matter who it is but this vampire/werewolf combo is cute, touching, and just made me smile.
