I love Sarah Andersen's werewolf/vampire comics, so I was very pleased to get to review this collection of them. They're funny and smart and the characters are really cute together. I love the little nods towards folklore and how weird it would be to exist as a vampire and werewolf, both individually and together in the modern world. Also, I love the character designs. The goth vampire gf and grunge werewolf bf pairing really works.
Recommended for anyone who likes vampires and werewolves in fiction and especially for those who like to laugh at tropes.
I follow Sarah Andersen on Twitter, I enjoy viewing her comics, and I've read Adulthood is a Myth. I've been keeping up with Fangs through Tapas, and when I found out that I could read the ARC on NetGalley, I was super excited. I love how this is a different take on a supernatural romance. It's not between a paranormal creature and a human but a vampire and a werewolf. Because Sarah Andersen decided to portray her characters in episodic bits, the pictures have to be strong along with her word choice, which I believe she accomplishes. I love her jokes and one-liners; they're great. I would recommend this book to teens and young adults who'd enjoy the genre and the fun this book embodies.
I've had this graphic novel on my 'to be purchased' list for awhile now. So, when I saw I could read an advanced copy, I was stoked! Thank you, NetGalley!
The drawings are cute and simplistic as is the story. It's humorous and heartfelt, the perfect combination. The only downfall, it felt too short as it's pretty quick to read through.
This love story between a werewolf and a 300-year-old vampire is to die for...definitely recommend!

A vampire meets a werewolf. Is there any chance they can be together?
Yes!
I loved this book.
The artwork is stark but wonderful. It fits the subject.
There are many quips and jokes in this book. I laughed out loud!
I’ll be looking for more of these.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.
I was already a little bit familiar with cartoonist Sarah Andersen's work, so I was excited to see this comic from her. It follows the adorable relationship between a girl vampire who's hundreds of years old with her lovable werewolf boyfriend. The illustrations are so great - really creative and simplistic in their details. My favorite part is the humor of this tale - it's basically like one pun after another! And Andersen's genius brain came up with so many wonderful moments - like the werewolf's dismay that he can't prove to his friends his girlfriend is real because her face won't show up in their selfies or her disgust after he accidentally eats a garlic-filled meal. I also got a kick out of Andersen's ability to choose elements that would usually elicit scares into super cute, awww-inducing moments. Fans of this genre (or really anyone who likes a quirky love story) should check this one out. My only complaint: it was way too short!
I loved this comic! It was humorous in a way that wasn't outright, yet dark. I loved the foil of the 2 main characters. Rather than a linear plot line, it showed snippets of their relationship, which was genius. I thoroughly enjoyed this comic, and I want more!
When I first got this graphic novel from Netgalley, I thought I hadn't read anything by the author. As it turns out I was wrong as Sarah Andersen is the author of 'Aduthood is a myth' which I loved dearly.
'Fangs' tells a story of a 300-year-old vampire Elsie who falls in love with a werewolf Jimmy. The novel is comprised of short scenes from their life together. It's very cute and funny and the laconic art creates the impression that all these stories are quick sketches of the many facets of human relationships.
I really loved this GN and chuckled all the way through it. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and funny read.
The review copy was provided by Netgalley.
All opinions expressed are my own.
Fangs by Sarah Andersen is a comical graphic novel about Else and Jimmy falling in love and their everyday lives as a couple. By the way, Elsie's a vampire and Jimmy's a werewolf.
It was a cute read, full of quirks and witty puns with well drawn illustrations of course. There is a chronological order to the book but like most of Sarah's work, each page works on its own as a short comic. On top of that, we have some lovely single-frame artwork as well.
The book was a perfect combination of vamps and wolves that covered all the stereotypical jokes without trying too hard. My favourite episode was when both the main characters were describing their ex-es. I had a huge LMAO moment there.
With Midnight Sun having released recently, if you find your vampire and werewolf fantasies unfulfilled, I highly recommend that you read Fangs.I rate the book 5 out of 5 bookmarks for the constant smile on my face, the not too rare LOLs and the sassy punchlines.
I'd like to thank NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me with an eARC of the book to review. I'd also like to congratulate the author and illustrator - Sarah Andersen - on her new book whose comics on Instagram are always a delight to come across!
The book comes out on 01-September, 2020 so keep an eye out for it!
PS, the book gives you a lot of hope on love especially since Jimmy made sure he gifted Elsie a lot of black dresses. ;)
"A love story between a vampire and a werewolf by the creator of the enormously popular Sarah's Scribbles comics.
Elsie the vampire is three hundred years old, but in all that time, she has never met her match. This all changes one night in a bar when she meets Jimmy, a charming werewolf with a wry sense of humor and a fondness for running wild during the full moon. Together they enjoy horror films and scary novels, shady strolls, fine dining (though never with garlic), and a genuine fondness for each other’s unusual habits, macabre lifestyles, and monstrous appetites.
First featured as a webcomic series on Tapas, Fangs chronicles the humor, sweetness, and awkwardness of meeting someone perfectly suited to you but also vastly different. This deluxe hardcover edition of Fangs features an “engraved” red cloth cover, dyed black page trim, and 25 exclusive comics not previously seen online. Filled with Sarah Andersen’s beautiful gothic illustrations and relatable relationship humor, Fangs has all the makings of a cult classic."
If you're a fan of Sarah's Scribbles and are in withdrawal from the end of What We Do in the Shadows, check out this book now!
I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!!!! I love vampire/werewolf pairings so much and this one was so so cute!!! I had seen a few of these comics on the artist's instagram (I think) so I was so excited to see they're all together now. I can't wait to buy the physical copy!
Fangs is an adorable graphic novel about a vampire that meets a cute boy that turns out to be a werewolf. The story follows them through their daily routines and ups and downs. I loved how the whole idea behind this was really to show how we can be loved despite our differences. Jimmy loved Elsie even though she begs to bite him and sleeps all day. And Elsie loves Jimmy despite him tearing the house apart when he transforms. If you like cute graphic novels that center on the macabre, Fangs is not to be missed.
First off, I just want to say that this book is adorable. In a vignette style, we see the day-to-day lives of Elsie (a vampire) and Jimmy (a werewolf). The snapshots, often punny, consist of a single page or two and let the reader fill in the blanks, all while being sweet as pie and still retaining a sense of wit and sarcasm. There were so many instances reading where I've seen my own relationships, and it genuinely made me smile. I definitely would recommend this to any older teen or adult. Utterly charming.
So charming and genuinely funny. The art style is a more sophisticated look than you get with Sarah's Scribbles, and it fits the gothic comedy tones of the story. I giggled so much while reading this. Very tempted to buy the beautiful hardcover version.
I loved, loved, loved Sarah Andersen's newest story, Fangs. Narrated in short, black and white comic strips, she brings to life what the day-to-day life of a vampire and a werewolf would be. And it is the cutest, funniest thing one could ever imagine!
As a long time fan of her Sarah's Scribbles series, I think Fangs is set out to be her newest best-seller. The strips in here change from the silliest laugh-out-loud one liners to really well thought banters, to a more dark humoured moments. Some are cute in a "oow look, a puppy" kind of way, others are cute in a "aaaw my heart" kind of way, but all of them bring something to the table.
I really appreciate NetGalley brought me the opportunity to read this graphic novel, which has definitely become one of the newest additions to my "to recommend" list.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This is the first of Sarah Andersens comic books I have read but I really fell in love with her art and the comic sketches between a vampire and a warewolf.
I'm a huge vampire book fan and this was fantastic and an ideal book for any vampire or warewolf enthusiasts like me.
This book is humourous and sweet at the same time and I loved every second of reading it.

First of all, a big thanks to NetGalley for sending me the advanced e-copy of Fangs to review.
I, like many people out there on the internet, have found the honesty and humor of Sarah Anderson’s Sarah’s Scribbles to be deeply relatable and funny. I’ve read Anderson’s comics online and as they came out in print editions. I still find this comic of hers to be one of the most relatable things I’ve seen on the internet:

Today’s review is not of any of the Sarah’s Scribbles books, but of Anderson’s latest publication, Fangs.
Fangs is the story of Elsie, a vampire, and Johnny, a werewolf. The two meet at a bar one night and hit it off. The story of their relationship is told through a series of vignette-like illustrations and comic strips. Anderson’s trademark humor is still highlighted, albeit in a less-cartoony way. Anderson steps away from her stylized caricatures to a more traditional style.
This is not a supernatural story like Twilight or True Blood that’s filled with drama and suspense. Instead, it is the day to day life of two people who just happen to be a vampire and a werewolf. I found this take on the supernatural romance genre refreshing. Fangs pokes fun at its predecessors while still professing admiration for the genre. Elsie is a power-goth in head-to-toe black while she sips on blood from a wine glass. Johnny barks at the mail carrier and loves a good scratch behind the ear. They are stereotypes to a T but that’s what makes them so enjoyable. The framework of their relationship gives these tropes a slice-of-life makeover that I found completely charming.
I’m tempted to say that I would love to see more of Elsie and Johnny, but at the same time, the slim volume of Fangs feels complete and wholly satisfying as it is. It is a glimpse into the daily lives of these two - a moment in time. Anderson invites the reader into Elsie and Johnny’s lives in such a way that makes you feel like you could be right there in the living room watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre or snuggling in a coffin after a long day.
Fangs is a quiet, understated tale with the touch of goofy humor that Anderson is so well known for. I especially recommend it to those who love supernatural romance. It’s as much a love note to the genre as it is anything else.
This was so adorable!!
Fangs is fluffy, punny and entertaining love romance between vampire and werewolf.
The illustrations are nice and I'd gladly read more of this.
* I received a free eARC from the publisher via Netgalley.
Fangs by Sarah Andersen - 4/5 stars
Trigger Warnings: Mention of Blood
I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was so stinking cute!! I have followed the author, Sarah Andersen, on instagram for years and only recently discovered that her webcomic was being turned into a novel. I knew immediately that I had to read it!
This was just as adorable as I knew it would be! The art style was so unique and beautifully done and we follow a werewolf and vampire couple throughout their relationship!
This story was told through snippets of Elsie and Jimmy's relationship together, not following a particular plot nor storyline. We get to see them throughout a collection of one page clips of the two of them. This was a breath of fresh air! I loved getting to see cute moments between these two and just enjoying my time. If you are looking for something feel good and cutesy with a bit of a gothic twist, this is definitely for you!!!
This was full of adorable puns and romantic moments. I highly recommend this!
Oddly amusing how relatable a werewolf x vampire relationship could be. This wasn’t as exaggeratedly funny as Andersen’s other works but was still a thoroughly enjoyable and light comic read!
I've been a long time fan of Andersen, following her on Facebook and Instagram for years. I'd also read pieces of her newer gothic-fantasy webcomic on her instagram and loved the funny and sweet romance between Elsie the vampire and Jimmy the werewolf. To say I devoured (hehe pun intended) the full novel is an understatement. The vibe is different than her usual comics which are quirky and irreverent. Instead, 𝔽𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕤 has a quieter more interior feeling to Elsie and Jimmy’s relationship which sucks you right in (another pun!). The reading pace is quick since the strips show vignette's of Elsie and Jimmy, but it feels like you really sink into the world Andersen built. And of course, the characters are witty and sweet. I loved every minute and I hope Andersen creates more!</p>
Even if you don't read graphic novels, I still recommend this because the story is so utterly charming I think anyone can enjoy it.
