This edition of Edgar Allan Poe's works is a true gem for fans of the iconic gothic American writer. Elegantly designed, this gift edition is a celebration of Poe’s enduring literary legacy, encapsulating the essence of his macabre and dark themes. Spanning from 1827 to his death in 1849, the collection includes over 70 of Poe’s captivating short stories, more than 40 melodious poems, and his only full-length novel, "The Narrative of A. Gordon Pym."

Classic creepy poems that have inspired many a horror story or film, eventually I will get to read this but probably not for a while.

This one is for Poe fans or academics studying him. At 850 pages, it's a bit much for a library or casual reader. But definitely useful if you are looking to dig deeper.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

The best collection of Poems work you can get. It does feel a bit samey at times but this is where horror fiction began

Scary. I really could not read this at night. While the prose was beautiful, I was scared and had to read each tale slowly. Enjoyable

Complete collections for influential literary figures like Edgar Allan Poe are always winners, and this one is particularly gorgeous. Sure to be a winner for existing and new readers alike.

This complete and unabridged collection of Edgar Allan Poe's work would be wonderful to add to anyone's collection and is worthy of gift giving.

I am not a massive reader of poetry, yet Poe never fails to excite, delight, and scare!

Apart from in English Lit classes, I never really read much poetry. However, I have always been a fan of Pies darkly elegant and exceedingly eloquent works,Val jumped at the chance to make my way through this anthology.

A true master of the art, Pies dark words draw you in to the world's he creates, fascinating and unnerving in equal measure. As intriguing today as when originally published, I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Highly recommend.

Who doesn't love Poe? We've all read something of him at some point, and at least one of his texts marks us. In my case it was The Fall of the House of Usher, and traveling to the ghoulish and gloomy worlds of this writer was a perfect distraction during the pandemic. I never tire of reading him, of rediscovering his stories, his tortured characters, and each of his ideas.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The complete tales and poems of Edgar Allan Poe is a beautiful collection of stories and poems brought together within this beautiful, gothic book.

Some tales and poems are relatively unsettling but beautiful and so well written.
Edgar Allan Poe formed a new style of writing in his day and his poems and tales have always been a fascination to many. Having never read any of Poes tales or poetry, I grabbed the chance to read them with the ARC of this book and I wasn't disappointed in any way.
This is an amazing book and one I want to read through again.

I think this copy might fall short as they are describing the beauty of this hardback copy and well, we are given ecopies to read. That being said? This is a absolutely complete works of Edgar Alan Poe, how do you give this less than 5*s? A must have for a home collection for the creepy crawly season.

This book needs to be in your collection. You need this book so you can play Jeopardy and win. Where else to look up quotes of Poe. The first part of the book has the tales and then the second part has the poems. It is good to have these in one book for reference purposes. Definitely an excellent book.

I've enjoyed reading stories by Edgar Allan Poe since I was in school decades ago. I even have my own hardback collection of all his short stories from then and have read all of them at some point. But it has been quite some time since I read any of the stories and I am less familiar with all but the most known poems. I'm uncertain as to whether I even knew he'd written a novel until reading the introduction.

There's no doubt Poe's writing is of good quality and often excellent. I will instead focus on the introduction of the book, which I found to be quite good. It wasn't terribly long but it did detail much of his life and I learned quite bit I didn't know. I think this may have well informed my reading of the stories even more than when I was much younger. I know this is meant to be a hardback book suitable for a gift but there's no way to judge that on an ebook edition.

Based on what I can see, this is a good collection covering Poe's works and anyone interested in discovering more of his writing would do well to get a copy.

I would like to thank Quarto Publishing and Netgalley for sharing an advanced reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

I absolutely love Edgar Allan Poe's work, I fell in love with his works when I was a child. This is a great collection of Edgar Allan Poe's works and I am so happy that Annabel Lee, which is my favorite poem by Poe, has been added to this collection!

Edgar Allan Poe's stories and poems are such amazing pieces of art and I'm very happy to have been given a chance to read this collection.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

The macabre and gruesome gothic style of Edgar Allen Poe is timeless and the author holds his place as one of the greatest horror authors. Ever! There are various works of Edgar Allen Poe available providing complete coverage of his short stories, poems, essays and his novel. This latest collection, The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe, provides an introduction from Daniel Stashower who gives a very interesting overview of Poe’s life and his bizarre and unsettling death. His death followed a strange set of events where he was found collapsed outside a tavern in Baltimore and then treated in the Washington College Hospital for drunkenness where he remained delirious and agitated suggesting something untoward happened him, until he passed away, after muttering “Lord help my poor soul.”

Poe’s fascination with dark, sinister tales gives us classics such as The Pit and the Pendulum, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Tell-Tale Heart and The Black Cat.

“Down—steadily down it crept. I took a frenzied pleasure in contrasting its downward with its lateral velocity. To the right—to the left—far and wide—with the shriek of a damned spirit! to my heart, with the stealthy pace of the tiger.”
The Pit and the Pendulum

Along with the seventy-three short stories, essays and a novel, he wrote forty-nine poems which were often fuelled with his alcoholism and difficulty in finding a female partner. His poem Annabel Lee may have been inspired by four different women he was with during that period. His most famous poem is the brilliant Raven

“And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon’s that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o’er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted—nevermore!”
The Raven

As a collection this version is complete with his short stories and poems, the introduction provides a fascinating insight into Poe and there is a useful timeline for his works.

My big criticism of this Advanced Reader Copy is that it is only available for the Adobe Digital Editions application or the new NetGalley app, both of which are impossible to read 'PDF' files on a smartphone and are not available for the Kindle. I already own a complete set of works of Edgar Allen Poe so for the stories I could switch to that version and use a computer to read the pdf file for the Introduction and other material specific to this publication.

The rating is difficult because for the literary contribution of Edgar Allen Poe it would be 5 stars but for the practical use of the electronic book, it would be 2 stars. I would like to thank Quarto Publishing Group – Rock Point and NetGalley for providing me with a free ARC in return for an honest review.

A definitive collection of Poe that is especially great for middle grade and high school-age kids who love Poe and want to get into his writing. Also great for anyone interested in getting through all of Poe and learning a bit of backstory along the way. Very readable and very well organized.
