Good thriller, engrossing. I read it cover to cover in one sitting.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Josh, 23, falls off the train platform as his train begins to arrive. His mother, Cassie, and stepfather, Adam, are completely distraught. They have trouble believing it was suicide, as the authorities had determined.

Enters Kimberly, with baby Samuel. Is Samuel REALLY Josh's baby? After all, they had never met Kim. If Josh was serious about Kim, wouldn't he have mentioned her.? Adam, who was close to Josh, is worried that Kim may be scamming them. Cassie does not agree. After all - part of JOSH is left!.

The start of the book was great. The storyline began to drag a bit yet it picked up at times so the reader did not lose interest. A pretty quick read.

I would like to read more of Sheryl Browne's writing.

A good book.

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a solid read!

The New Girlfriend held so much promise for me from the synopsis. This type of psychological thriller is right up my street but this one was a slow burner.
I felt like it was missing a “hook” at the beginning of the book to get me really invested in the story - One of the things I love about psychological thrillers is the OMG moment in the first couple of chapters which makes me unable to put the book down and this didn’t have that.

The New Girlfriend is about Cassie and Adam. At the start of the book their son Josh dies. A few weeks later Kim turns up on their doorstep with a baby she tells them is their grandchild. Desperate to hold on to Josh, Cassie initially welcomes her in with open arms......needless to say questions are asked, strange things start to happen and everyone seems to have a secret and their own agenda.
I didn’t see the ending of the book coming so it did keep me guessing but had I not received this ARC to review, without the hook at the start of the book I’m not sure I would have carried on reading.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Kim is on Cassie's doorstep claiming the baby she holds in her arms is her recently deceased sons, Joshua's baby. As her and her husband Adam look at the baby they can see he is the mirror image of his daddy. They are beyond happy to have this grandson in their lives. They will do anything to help Kimberly the young mother be set up to raise this child. As the story progresses you can see dark and twisted thing happening. Everyone seems to have an ulterior motive. Much to the grandparents chagrin they aren't able to spend very much time with their grandson, Samuel. Kimberly acts rather shady and is she really put the moves on Adam? All in all it's a great psychological thriller.

That final line!!!! Wow, I hadn't seen that coming and I don't know if I'm kind of sadistic for being a bit glad of it! (That's all I will say!!!!)

Thank you to Bookouture and Sheryl Browne for this highly addictive copy of "The New Girlfriend".
As with all Sheryl Browne Physcological Thrillers, it was easy to get into from the beginning, from the prologue to the end of the second chapter I was in tears already! An emotional connection as a mother, I could feel the pain and distress and only imagine such tragedy that you get within this book.

Even though the storyline was easy going I actually didn't see the main plot twist coming, I liked it! It all flowed really well and I enjoyed the outcome of the story -as I said before..... I'm not sure I should of been pleased but I was- eeeeek!

The good characters are likable, and the bad ones you really take a dislike too. I enjoyed that there wasn't too much fussiness within the storyline, some books I've read this year have had too many characters, too many coinciding storylines to keep up with, and easy to see outcomes, "The New Girlfriend" was none of this, and I easily read it within 24hrs of being gripped of those first few chapters. I was disappointed to come to the end!.

Sheryl Browne has managed to keep me as a massive fan yet again! Would definitely recommend this as a 2020 read ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If an author mentions a P/T Cruiser in their book then it’s always going to be a hit with me ( ours is called Tom, I dont think I have ever seen one in a book before ) 😁

Seriously though this is a fine psychological thriller with hints of a whodunit that is based around Josh and his Mum and Dad, an ex girlfriend and a baby that is left without a Dad when Josh mysteriously dies
There is deceit and lies, intrigue, and a lot, a real lot of twists, couple all that with a look at OCD, grief at his rawest and a vengeful stalker and you begin to get the picture
The author always writes for the reader and again this book welcomes you in, gets you settled and then BAM strikes with an exciting and ever moving plot
A different to the usual themes read that will make you wonder who is telling the truth and 1 character in particular you will love to loathe
A good enjoyable and interesting concept read

A few months after Cassie lost her son a woman turns up on her doorstep claiming to be his girlfriend and in her arms is his baby, Cassie's grandson.

Cassie then receives threatening messages that may expose her secret she has tried to keep hidden for so long.

This had me hooked from the first chapter and I have to say it was heartbreaking. The way in which they lose Joshua is truly awful and the author described the scene so well that it really made me flinch when reading it. She continues to reference that night throughout and it’s still hard to read each time.

I found Cassie to be the most interesting of the characters and I felt the pain she was going through at what she had lost. It felt very real, especially the love and powerful protective instinct she had over Samuel. I imagine many people would act the way she had with the events that had happened. Also lets not forget Adam, Cassie’s husband, who is the kindest man I’ve ever read about. The way he was depicted in the book you just can’t help but love him.

I love thrillers especially when I’m constantly trying to guess what the secret could be and just when I thought I had it, Sheryl Browne hit me with another that I definitely was not expecting and would never have guessed.

I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend!

Just months after losing her only son, Josh, Cassie is shocked to find a girl standing at her doorstep claiming to be Josh’s girlfriend. But it’s not only the girl Cassie is shocked by, it’s the baby nestled in Kim’s arms. Cassie’s grandchild.

As Cassie tries to do what’s best for baby Samuel, she starts to receive threatening messages from someone from her past – someone Cassie has been hiding from for a long time. Cassie is frightened that her biggest secret is about to be revealed and she will lose everything, including her precious grandson.

This is my first book by this author and I actually liked it, so I shall definitely go back and read all her other works!

I was immediately attracted to this book because of its cover and premise. and I wasn't disappointed. I knew something fishy was going on right from the start! Although I kind of guessed early on most of what was going on, there were still some nice twists and surprises. And the ending was totally unexpected.

Overall, this is a well written twisted psychological thriller, with an edge of your seat conclusion!!

Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!!

An excellent domestic thriller that kept me engaged throughout the entire journey. The writer’s depiction of the characters was spot on. Highly recommended.

Sheryl Browne is a master of the jaw dropping twist in her psychological thrillers. The New Girlfriend was no exception. My goodness this book is a page turner. I couldn’t put it down and read it in an afternoon. This time the twist had me gasping out loud, so much that I scared the dog 😂

I won’t go into the story too much so I don’t spoil the fun for anybody. All you need to know is that Cassie is mourning the sudden death of her son Josh when a woman knock she in the door. She claims to be Josh’s girlfriend and is holding a baby that is Cassie’s grandson. She is overjoyed and feels like she has another chance with baby Samuel. But at the same time she starts to receive threats via text and fears that the secrets of her past will be exposed.

It is twisty with unreliable characters and you will not know what the truth is. You need to read this book.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read.

This is the first book by Sheryl Brown that I have read and while I enjoyed the first 60% of the book, I found the last 40% dragged for me. I thought it was a bit predictable, but really loved the twist at the end learning of Cassie's secret (didn't see that coming!) Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

The premise of this book sounded so good (and the reviews were so glowing) that I couldn't wait to pick it up. Unfortunately, it just really didn't connect with me. I figured out most of the twists early on, and many of the reveals felt clunky and confusing. I had to reread a few parts to make sure I understood what had happened. Ultimately, I was really underwhelmed given how excited I was to read this.

Cassie's seemingly perfect life had recently been shattered into a million pieces when a tragic incident had resulted in the death of her beloved son Josh.

Struggling with her feelings of grief, regret and the age old question What if? Cassie is shocked when a pretty young women called Kim appears on her doorstep with a young baby who she insists is Josh's son..

Overjoyed to still have a tiny part of her son to take care of, Cassie and her husband Adam welcome the mysterious stranger into their home and their lives.

But after Cassie starts receiving threatening text messages her mind becomes consumed with feelings of obsession, paranoia and anxiety.

The more out of control her behaviour becomes, the wider the gap between her and Adam becomes. Are Adam and Kim becoming too close?. Is he cheating on her? Is Kim the innocent victim she pretends to be or is she a clever manipulator with a end game that only she knows about? Who will be the biggest loser when all the secrets and lies are eventually revealed?

This captivating tale is written mainly from the perspectives of Cassie and Kim, two complex, strong willed ladies who both suffered from various mental health issues. These issues raised some important questions, how much control did they actually have over their actions and behaviour? is our behaviour and the way we bring up our own children influenced in any way by our own upbringing? And did those issues influence how the reader felt about their characters? Were Cassie's actions and behaviour understandable and dare I say it, in a couple instances justifiable? There was some chapters that were voiced from the perspective of poor, loveable Adam appeared to be one of the rare breed of male that you don't find very often in the fiction world, a genuine nice guy, but was he as nice as he appeared or had I been cleverly manipulated into believing that he was something that he really wasnt? .Interspersed throughout the story was chapters that slipped back in time and took the reader through the events leading up to Josh's death. There was also chapters that were voiced from the perspective of a character called Jenna but who was she and how did she fit into the story?I

I love Sheryl Browne's thrillers and The New Girlfriend was no exception, it is a incredibly well written page turner,a gripping tale of secrets, lies and manipulation that as always had me hooked in from the first page. The characters were vivid, well rounded and relatable, there was some unexpected twists and turns and a spine chilling, shocking conclusion that had just a tiny dash of situational irony. Sheryl Browne is very talented and one of my favourite author's. A very very enjoyable read and very very highly recommended.

I frantically turned the pages until I finished it. An excellent psychological thriller.
Cassie stares at the woman on her doorstep in disbelief. Just months after losing her only son, Josh, here stands a stranger claiming to be Josh’s girlfriend. But it’s not only the woman Cassie is shocked by, it’s the baby nestled in Kim’s arms. Cassie’s grandchild.
I know what you did.
As Cassie tries to do what’s best for baby Samuel, she starts to receive threatening messages from someone from her past – someone Cassie has been hiding from for a long time. Cassie is frightened that her biggest secret is about to be revealed and she will lose everything, including her precious grandson.
You took everything from me. Now you need to pay.
As the messages get more sinister, Cassie realises the person behind them knows every detail about her life and she fears that she is being watched. Could Kim be the link between Cassie and the mysterious messenger? And is she in danger now that she has welcomed this woman and her baby into her home?
I loved Joshua in the story.
The way Sheryl made her characters and the suspense of the story is mind blowing.
Narration of the story is excellent and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy of this awesome psychological thriller.

A few months after Cassie loses her son Josh in a tragic accident, a girl called Kim turns up on her doorstep not only claiming to be Josh's girlfriend, but also showing off a baby who she claims is Josh's child, Cassie's grandchild. Cassie welcomes them with open arms. However she soon starts to receive threatening messages and thinks her past is going to come back to haunt her, and also wonders if there is a link between Kim and the messages. Could she have been too trustworthy allowing Kim and baby Samuel into her life? Could she be in danger?

A gripping and tense story that keeps you guessing until the end. Full of secrets, lies, suspicious characters and shocks and surprises. Another great book from Sheryl Browne, I really recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

The New Girlfriend by Sheryl Browne is another gripping read from an author who is undeniably at the top of her game. If you are looking for a taut, addictive, compulsively readable thriller, then look no further.

Cassie is devastated when an accident claims the life of her son, Josh. But when a woman she has never met arrives at her door claiming that her infant is Josh's son, Cassie feels that she has been given a second chance to make things right. Cassie is battling some demons of her own, and holding on to secrets so dark that even her adoring husband, Adam, is completely unaware of what lurks beneath. And can Kim, the mysterious woman who claims to be the mother of her grandson, and whose odd behaviour arouses suspicion at every turn be not only believed, but trusted?

This is another of the edge of your seat, read in one sitting offering that I have come to expect from Sheryl Browne, and I cannot wait to get my hands on whatever comes next. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
