A dark past will return holding everything he promised to protect. Slowly awakening to everything he needed to escape from but a promise keeps him captive.

This was the perfect ending to this duet! These two books were my first by Evelyn Montgomery and I will definitely be looking to check out some others .
Rose and Justin’s story really sucks you into their world! You have been torn into pieces and this book slowly puts you back together again.
I did feel that the series could have been told in one book, but overall I loved the story

You hear that screeching sound? That’s not a record player coming to a sudden halt. That’s my brain. What the heck is going on?
So Justin is the human version of Superman? Newspaper editor by day and SEAL by night? Or just when shit hits the fan?
And Rose’s dead husband? What the what?
My mind is a jumbled mess trying to piece together this duet. There are some missing or weak threads tying the first book to this one. Some missed opportunities to fill in some plot holes in general between the two books to help the reader along so that you don’t feel so jarred at points.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
This is the second book in this series and I've been lucky enough to read the first
You really do need to read both to get the best out of the series
I loved this
Loved the characters and the story has a very satisfactory if shocking ending
I'm not telling much about this book. It's the second part in Justin and Rose's story. And if you have read the first book, you know it ended abruptly. So, telling too much know would spoil the plot. Sorry.
But I will tell you that not everything was as ideal as it seemed in Rose's life. And that the past is coming back to knock on their door.
The story is OK. A little bit slow in some parts. And maybe a little bit cheesy. I'm a romantic, believe me. But... It was too much. Or not in the right moment.
Awakening took me a bit to get into. The storyline was good; but all the switching back in time didn’t allow for me to get into the characters as much as I hoped.
Rose was in a mentally abusive marriage and had two small children. Her husband died whilst she was giving birth to their daughter and then the story continues.
Liam is their eldest child. He was kidnapped. And Rose finds herself travelling to Cuba with her new boyfriend to rescue Liam and bring him home.
There is a small plot towards the end but the book concludes with a happy ending.
Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion from Netgalley.
This is the second book in this series. I loved the ending. I loved how Rose took control of her life and the voices in her head. Just be ready for 2 shockers. My jaw dropped!! Great series.
At the end of Resurrection, I was hesitant to pick up Awakening. As I mentioned in my review of part one of the Salvation Duet: maybe too intense for me. However, I wanted to know what would happen with Rose and Liam and whether Justin would be able to help out.
The story only got more confusing, since we jump back and forth to Justin's past, where he is named differently (since he was undercover). Meanwhile we also get backflashes from Rose and the mental state / conversations she is having. So, for me it felt like I was getting a whiplash and not in a good way.
So, I did finish the book, but I don't think I ever want to pick it up again. Too intense, raw and gripping for me. As I see the other reviews, it seems like there is no in-between: you either love the series or you don't. Unfortunately, I'm in the latter group this time: two out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
I'm DNFing this book at about 40% in. I had hoped it would redeem itself after book 1, but this is just worse.
Awakening is a good solid romance with an excellent pair of lead characters. Good writing and the plot was so exciting.
Part two in the duet book (read Resurrection first). This book picks up where Awakening left off, but Rose has started to rebuild her walls and push everyone out.
I felt like Rose should be a tougher character being a single mother but she is a beautifully written character.
Justin has to work hard at bringing Leo back, brining Rose back and being a supportive system.
This duet ending provided closer needed to not be left dwelling.
Love romance and this duet was perfect. This book blew me away! I was unable to but it down. Perfect, dazzlingly, very well written. The details the author described throughout the book was so amazing. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must read for many many readers.
After reading Resurrection, I quickly went on to read the second book in the duet, Awakening. The first book was mostly a story of learning to love after loss and the guilt that goes along with that, particularly when the characters perhaps felt that what happened was in some way their fault and that the relationships in question were perhaps not as wonderful as they had made them out to be. Awakening goes off in a completely different direction.
Now, we are faced with romantic suspense. As the story unfolds, it's clear that there are things that both Justin and Rose believed that just weren't true. For me, after the depth of the previous story, this just fell flat. It took what had been an engaging and interesting story of people coming to terms with their past and facing the future, into a high stakes thriller and for me, it just didn't work. Added to that was that we learnt more about what had happened in the past, but things were just dropped in with no real explanation or reasoning. It was such a shame.
The only reason that I'm giving this three stars, is because I enjoyed the start of Justin and Rose's story and they did at least reach a conclusion. It's just a shame that it had to be in this rushed, over the top and honestly ridiculous setting.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is the second book of the duology and I HIGHLY recommend that you read Resurrection prior to reading this book.
Awakening through me a bit off kilter, portions of this book were an extension of Resurrection but it took on more of a suspenseful theme rather than a romance. I loved the additional layers that we were given to Justin & Rose's stories. With that said, it felt like such an odd twist after the previous book.
If you loved constant internal struggle that Justin & Rose dealt with, I think you'll enjoy this continuation. Unfortunately I was over the anxiousness that these feelings had caused me in the first book at I was hoping that things would be better this go around. Not even halfway through this book and I felt like they were beating a dead horse with the repetitive internal monolog.
I would have LOVED to see Resurrection & Awakening condensed into one book, with a little less of the anxious internal struggles. I love the bones of this story and some of the back story, but overall felt that the story fell flat from the continuous negative feelings and struggles. So much of the potential was lost as it was drawn out so much.

What the hay is going on? How is Justin go from being a SEAL to a newspaper editor helping out the mafia? This person was dead, but no they're not. Then another person who's supposed to be dead isn't. And then...you get the idea. True love conquers all and wins in the end, but my head is still spinning.
Justin and Rose’s story continues from Resurrection, so if you haven’t read it ... go back and read it before this book.
This book is so different from the first book ... it’s like it’s two totally different stories. The first book is a gut wrenching story, while this book is an adventure with lots of twists and turns. I enjoyed the fast pace of this book, but I found the ending cheesy ... no disrespect to the author, it’s just my opinion. It seems that most other people loved it.
I received an copy from the author through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
While I struggled a little with the first book in this duet "Resurrection" I have to tell you this second and final installment absolutely took all those negative feelings and trashed them This book took off running from that cliff hanger ending and just rocketed along Rose is closing down Justin is suffering from more guilt and Liam is missing With the help of Leo a friend with connections from Justin's past they will get Liam back but did anyone see that twist coming Now Justin has to work to get the woman he loves back can he achieve it. Please make sure that you read book 1 first and do persevere with it because it is definitely setting you up for a book that you won't want to put down
Awakening is the conclusion of the Salvation Duet series. Please note that this is not a standalone, so you do need to read Resurrection first otherwise you couldn't understand this book.
This book picks up where Resurrection ended in a cliffhanger. All questions that the reader has will be answered in this conclusion and what a conclusion it was indeed. Evelyn Montgomery wrote such compelling characters that you couldn't help but root behind the MC's of this series. This book has enough twists, turns, highs and lows that you wouldn't feel bored reading it. I like how Ms Montgomery truly fleshed out her characters, you feel their chemistry and you hurt when they hurt.
If you're looking for a book with all the feels, then do go ahead and pick up this series. Thanks to NetGalley for the copy, the views above are all my own.
