Bryston McPherson is a former privateer with a painful past. Branwen has been interested in him ever since they met, but she is unaware of how his secrets will soon endanger her - and has no idea that she's competing with a ghost for Bryston's affections.

As always with this series, you agree to compromise on background and buildup in exchange for a short, easy read that you can manage around a busy life. The pace was quick, Bryston's past intrigued me, and I enjoyed the action. Branwen was a wonderful heroine, but she honestly didn't deserve to be compared so much to Bryston's late wife. I cringed a little. I generally prefer romances that are a bit more tactful about past loves.

This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given in my own words, for this ARC. Not a very long book but so typically Ms Cameron.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

I liked it! Though it's a short story it did a good job giving us a lot. Our MCs go through an adventure in evading the villain. I was very entertained by it and both Branwen and Bryston were likeable characters. The only thing that I was a little unhappy about this story was that Bryston, a widower who's wife was murdered by the villain of the story, compares Branwen and his deceased wife (who died four years prior) until the very end of the story. In comparing them he has a difficult time coming to terms of why he is attracted to Branwen when she's very different from his wife. It takes a life threatening situation for him to finally realize his feelings.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I liked her style. I look forwards to reading more from her.
