Another great book by T A Williams which really brings the setting to life. Once again the descriptions of Siena and Tuscany and it's food and wine are enough to have you heading to the travel agent to book a trip.
This time the main character is Lucy, a doctor with MSF, who is airlifted from war-torn Congo at the start of the book as the fighting gets too close for comfort. From there she heads for Tuscany to spend time with her beast friend and, whilst there, gets a job in a private clinic. However, her conscience troubles her about the inequality in the world and this only gets work when she meets injured tennis star, David. Can they get their happy ever after or will his money tear them apart?
On the whole I loved the romance, the story and the characters (including the matching labradors wherever Lucy went) and I was rooting all the way for our main couple. In particular the opening rescue from The Congo was totally gripping and drew me into the story. However, there were a few minor niggles - Lucy's continual wrangle with her conscience became a bit wearing at times. She, at times, seemed rather judgmental and ultimately relied on others to make sacrifices. Her extremely large salary, homeowner status and large savings account didn't seem to trouble her too much. However, for me, this was a minor irritation in an otherwise great book.

A glorious setting hooking me into the story about Lucy. A satisfying and upbeat read; perfect for the summer. I only wish I could go visit Siena now! Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

A Sunny Slice Of Escapism......
A sunny slice of escapism from T.A. Williams. Will romance blossom in Sienna for Lucy and does her future even lie there? As always, a pleasant and entertaining read with credible characters in glorious settings.

I am a massive fan of T.A Williams and was excited to pick up this book and take a wonderful trip to Italy.

In a climate where we currently aren't travelling as freely this summer, this book is a little slice of heaven. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Siena in the height of summer this book felt like a mini holiday. Once again brimming with wonderful characters, delicious food and great descriptions, I adored the connection between the wonderful dogs in this book and how the characters were all threaded together as I read.

This story touches on the richest of rich as well as the poorest of poor where people have fled due to conflict and unrest. Whilst a light hearted read, this story also threw a spotlight on events that people aren't always aware of and what the impacts of these scenarios can be long term for all involved.

A book that provided the perfect escapism to enjoy whilst basking in the gorgeous warmth of the Italian sun and planning a trip in my head to check out the stunning surroundings.

I am a huge fan of this author. The books are always a perfect read and set in the most beautiful and exotic places. This has allowed me the lockdown escape I have needed.

I have found this a very calming and relaxing read, with a beautiful love story thrown in. It's never been a secret that I prefer female authors. However, T.A WILLIAMS has converted me and I am huge fan. I always get very excited when a new book is announced.

This has been an interesting and extremely well-written book and I can honestly say that this may be my new favourite. This is without a doubt a five star read which I have devoured on a sunny afternoon.

Believe it or not, I actually started out not knowing if I was going to like the book much. I know, I know! However, as I settled in and started getting better acquainted with our protagonist, I realized she was a lady of conviction and strength which I truly admired.

The book reads as a day in Siena must feel- simple, enticing, rich. The sensory feelings I experienced, while simply reading the story, were exquisite and made me long to live the simple Italian life I’ve always dreamed of... being 1/2 Italian myself. Stunning descriptions of the cuisine and glorious depictions of the rolling hills had me Googling Siena and searching for Italian Instagrammers to follow! You know you’re reading something beautiful when you feel literally transported to another place, longing filling up your soul to experience the same lifestyle. Also worth mention is the amiable cast of secondary characters; David, the many black labradors, Bruno, and many others. Truly lovely!

I wish I could go back and read this story for the first time all over again! I’ll definitely be seeking out more from this new-to-me author! One happy bibliophile right here, folks.

Another fun Italian read. Just what the summer asked for. I’ve visited Siena and it was beautiful. This book was a fun escape.

I don't know how he does it but, after every single T.A. Williams book I've read, I just wanna move to Italy. He brings not only his characters to life but the italian cities and culture as well. The scenery descriptions, the food...you just feel as if you were sitting right next to the characters. And in this case we also get a medieval history lesson that I truly enjoyed.

In "Under a Siena sun" we get the typical feel good romance story, full of warm characters you'd just like to be friends with. I found refreshing that this story brought to attention some issues you don't usually see in this type of books, as social injustice , inmigration or the world's wealth distribution, so I found Lucy's initial dilemma quite interesting, as she perceives her change of job from MSF to a private clinic as a betrayal of her principles. However, I could have gladly given her a smack on the head on the last couple of chapters. You have a great guy that adores you and has proved to you over and over that he's not a vapid millionaire and you wanna break up with him because you're not sure you're cut out to living the fame and wealthy lifestyle? Come on! He already told you he didn't want that life anymore!

And OMG, Boris! I just need a chocolate labrador in my life now! In the same way I substract stars on my ratings when there's some kind of needless animal cruelty on the story, I automatically have to raise it when there're cute pets that feel like another character in the story, and this book have a whole litter of cute labradors, so...

Feel good romance that makes the perfect summer read.

T.A. Williams unfolds another compelling story that was almost perfect. Lucy is a physician in a war- and poverty-torn region who escapes to a new new life in Tuscany where she meets the mysterious David, who is far from poverty stricken and whose only experience with war is the battle with his own personal demons.

The story itself was effective, but for me, fell just short of captivating. Williams' words were more tell than show and left me feeling as if I was missing the zing in the chemistry between the two main characters.

The setting was perfection. As someone who has spent time in Tuscany, I felt like I was back in the region.

I really enjoyed the book and thought the juxtaposition between wealth and poverty was interesting in a new way. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is just such a lovely heart-warming read. I really like this author's books featuring the beauty and atmosphere of Italy. There's no violent confrontations, no explicit sexual encounters, just the curves and occasional bumps in a developing relationship. Such a delight.

After spending four years with MSF, ending in a hair-raising helicopter extraction from a clinic in war-torn Africa, Dr Lucy Young, a surgeon, needs time to recover from her nightmare-generating experiences. Her close friend Daniella is getting married in a small village outside Sienna in Tuscany and stays with the family while she decides where her life goes from there. She's always worked for the poor - those in greatest need, but now she needed to feel safer in her work. Following the wedding she's asked by friend Bruno to accompany him to the private clinic where he worked; a former tennis world champion, David Lorenzo, from the USA had suffered an accidental gun shot wound and they would like her expertise on the surgery.
She's offered a well-paid surgical position at the clinic where the rich and famous are discreetly treated. However, her conscience is torn, unable to reconcile the work she'd carried out for the poor with the privileged wealthy few requiring her attention now. But, with the high pay she decides to rent, and then buy, a cottage on a large private estate.

This was a book I chose to bring a sense of summer, calm, and relaxation to my reading and I picked well. An easy read, well-paced romance within a story set in Italy during the summer. I felt a real sense of place with this book, I have travelled in the area and I felt a real connection to the book and very much enjoyed reading it
The story follows Lucy a doctor with MSF who at the beginning of the book is being airlifted out of an area in the Democratic Republic of Congo for her own and her colleague’s safety. She moves to Italy to relax and recuperate with a friend in Siena, a city in Tuscany, Italy for a while. Here she meets tennis-pro David Lorenzo as her expertise in bullet wounds is called for to help him after an accident. She finds herself being offered a job in a local private hospital, but she has concerns about treating rich patients, rather than those who need her help. She takes the job and soon settles into life in the area; indeed she finds herself a small house on a large estate and immediately falls in love with it. As the story moves forward, she finds herself drawn to David, a man who has been hiding away from the world as a result of an injury that has taken him off the pro tennis courts. There are a wealth of feel-good characters in this book, one of my favourites is the professor who lives next door to Lucy whose love of history he shares with her and David, but maybe it’s the history teacher in me that drew me to him.
The setting is a character in itself, for anyone who has travelled to this area of Italy, it is beautiful, and the writer’s imagery of hot sunny summers is excellent. I loved the feel-good nature of this book, there was no confrontation between the characters and I felt that this was unusual, everything in this book was fun and nice and I think for me that was what I was needing at the time I picked it up.
I gave this book 3 stars it was an easy, amiable read and one which I loved the writer’s skills in the setting. As a romance it was good, it flowed and moved along but for those looking for sex scenes or resistance to getting together there is nothing like that, it’s a warm, feel-good read which I found calm and charming.

Makes me want to visit Siena!

The story of Lucy, as doctor who has escaped war torn Africa for Siena. She is just visiting, but end up getting a job there, and meets David. As much as she likes him, they are so far apart in other ways - he is a rich celebrity and she has seen the horros of war and where people have nothing. Can they have a future together?

Well written and easy to read.
