This is just such a cute Christmas book. Yes, it's March and yes I read a Christmas book while the temperature here was 75 degrees yesterday. And, it made it even more amazing. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and this put me in such the spirit, no matter the time of the year.
While this is a YA book, and I'm not the intended audience, I fell in love with this cute little book. It follows a teenager named Baily who is ALL about Christmas and the season. The Christmas clothes she wears, the Christmas music she listens to, her love of ALL things December really reminds me of myself. Her wish this season is to be kissed under a mistletoe.
This has one of the tropes I'm beginning to love as of late: a love triangle. Or is it? She likes two boys. I found myself reading this really quickly to see who she would end up.
The end was not expected, I loved the little magical twist.
If you're looking for a cute teenage Christmas romance story, I recommend this!
** thank you to Netgalley and Random House Children's for the Arc!
This was the perfect winter romance for lovers of teen romance and hallmark movies. The atmosphere was perfect for the season.
All I Want For Christmas was the perfect book to cozy up to, with a cup of hot chocolate by my side! :') ❤ Stories surrounding a bookstore are my favorite kind, and this book was no different. I mainly liked this book for the festive vibes and adorable dates.
The ambience and Christmas setting won my heart, while the main character Bailey didn't impress me that much at all. The love triangle seemed like a good trope for the story to follow, but it quickly lost it's glamor as the book progressed. Bailey acted way too immature for her age. I struggled warming up to her. Her insecurities and doubts regarding her feelings for 2 boys kept appearing multiple times throughout the book, and the repetitiveness of it all made me keep putting the book off. :(
The ending was unexpected, but the Christmas magic part was just what the story needed. Recommend reading it you're looking for an ambient festive read. 3.5/5 ⭐
This was just the perfect Christmas romance to read by the fire with a warm mug of tea in your hands. The story was a bit predictable and felt like a Hallmark movie but I easily read this book in one go. I was so entertained from the very first page. I loved the chapter titles and I definitely felt some mushy feelings when reading this. At times I couldn't stop smiling. I would definitely recommend this book as the perfect thing to read on a cold wintry night in front of the fire with soft, relaxing Christmas music playing in the background.
"Bailey Briggs is counting down the days to Christmas: she lives for holiday music, baking cookies, going on snowy sleigh rides, and wearing her light-up reindeer ears to work at Winslow's bookstore. But all she really wants this year is the one thing she doesn't have: someone special to kiss under the mistletoe. And she's 100 percent certain that that someone isn't Jacob Marley--athlete, player, and of questionable taste in girlfriends--and that Charlie, the mysterious stranger with the British accent, is the romantic lead of her dreams. Is she right?"
What started out as a love-triangle-esque trope quickly died... and my will to read this book with it. I loved the relationships Bailey was forming. Her thoughts and feelings felt realistic to that of other teenagers. Once we get to that twist in the ending though... I just felt like the entire book fell apart. What purpose was this Character (remaining anonymous in order to avoid spoilers) even supposed to have!?
This book was a Hallmark movie in book form following teenagers and I was here for it. I loved how atmospheric all of the settings were and how Christmasy everything was. The main character working in a bookstore around Christmas time? That sounds like a dream job to me!
My biggest complaint was that I felt like Bailey went back and forth a lot between which of the guys she was leaning more towards liking. She was always going back and forth and did not know what she wanted, which got really repetitive as the story went on. However, I was not expecting the ending at all whatsoever, and I really enjoyed and was surprised by how things wrapped up.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good book to read around Christmas, or someone looking for a cute romance where nothing really mature or graphic happens. I can't recommend this one enough, and I would love to read more books in this series in the future.
A cute cute cute winter read! Looking for a great rom com for Christmas, this is it! Hallmark movies don't have a thing on this book. Grab the book, a cup of coffee, a snuggly blanket and settle in!
Thank you to Negalley and Random House Children's for sending me this eARC! All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This was a cute and fluffy book! The main character really loves everything Christmas and there is a whole lotta Christmas love here! I wasn't the biggest fan of the love triangle, but if that's your thing you'd love it! Super cute and sweet, definitely intended for a younger audience. It's basically a Hallmark film in book form, which is not my favorite. It is great feel-good-read and it's super cozy and sweet. I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet and quick Christmas read to get into the holiday spirit!
It was a sweet story but 100 more pages would have been useful to develop the characters and their feelings a tad more.
I liked this book. It was very cute and the perfect book for Christmas. My dislikes were that the main character acted like she was 11 or 12 instead of acting like a teen and she is a big Mart Sue in the book.
This holiday romcom is a quick read that will appeal to fans of romance and lighter choices. This is available in paperback only from Underlined.
I am not lying when I say I actually squealed when I was approved to read this. I am OBSESSED with Christmas books, especially YA Christmas books, and I'm not even ashamed to say I read this in October. It is never too early to get in the Christmas spirit in my opinion, and I bet Bailey (the MC) would totally agree with me. I also need to state, without giving anything away, that this book has a pretty big connection to It's a Wonderful Life, which is my favorite Christmas movie, and that connection alone was enough for me to fall in love with this story. Even before I knew about the connection my immediate thought was "Omg is Bailey named Bailey because of George Bailey!?" and she was!
I seriously just love this book so much. It is the perfect book to get you feeling all warm and cozy and ready for the holidays. I will warn you now that if you choose to read this after the holidays that you will feel the need to put all of decorations back up (instead of taking them down) and sing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at the top of your lungs. I still 100% recommend reading it ASAP though. This is just such a light-hearted and insanely adorable read that I am so happy I came across. I might even make it a tradition to read it every December because it's just too cute and festive.
Thank you so much to Random House Children's, Underlined, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!
Thank you to Random House Children's books for my copy of All I Want for Christmas by Wendy Loggia in exchange for my honest opinion.
I tried to pick it up a few times, but I was not able to connect with the story line and characters. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I don't read that many YA Books, so I know that I am not the targeted audiene for this book. I'm sure that others will like it and I have seen several favorable reviews for it. Thank you again for the opportunity to read All I Want for Christmas.
I will not be sharing my thoughts/reviews outside of Netgalley in a review.
This was quite a good read, although I was not a fan of the main character's indecisiveness. Therefore, I found the ending wholly anticlimatic.
This was a really sweet holiday YA romance! It really hit the spot after all the unpleasantness this year to read a cozy romance like this.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS was definitely the sweet holiday escape I needed. Who doesn't want to swept off their feet at Christmastime? For 16-year-old Christmas-obsessed Bailey Briggs, that's exactly what she gets. Reading AIWFC brought me back to my own high school days, when I would spend Christmas break hanging out with my friends, ice skating, and looking for the perfect present. I loved following Bailey as she spends time with her friends during the holiday and working in Winslow's, her local independent bookstore. (I've always wanted to work at a bookstore so I was living vicariously through her!)
The dates (or non-dates?) with Bailey and her two--yes, two!--love interests were some of my favorite to read. Sledding in the park? An afternoon at a Christmas tree farm? Hanging out at a retirement home? Getting a latte at a café? Sign me up, please! This story had the perfect amount of heart and coziness and it had me smiling the entire time. The ending left me with the touch of holiday magic I needed, and a kiss under the mistletoe worthy of a Hallmark movie. The characters were fun and the romance was sweet--perfect to curl up on the couch with and enjoy with your favorite drink.
This YA take on It's a Wonderful Life absolutely fulfills the brief for anyone looking for the book version of a Hallmark romance. It's a cute and super quick read with a little bit of Christmas magic. As a minor note, I did appreciate that actual books were mentioned by the bookish heroine, because that doesn't always happen.
Thank you NetGalley and Underlined for the e-ARC of this book.
There were a lot of cute and sweet moments in this book, and I loved all of the Christmas elements in the story.
This book definitely read more like a middle grade than a young adult novel, so I didn’t like it as much as I hoped I would.
Also, I’m not a big fan of the love triangle trope, so that element of the story was just okay.
As far as the ending, it was not at all what I was expecting, and to be honest, I really didn’t like it. It felt cheesy and didn’t really make any sense.
While the writing style wasn’t bad, I felt that all of the dialogue seemed unrealistic and forced.
Overall, this story was just okay.
All I want for Christmas was an adorable book. It was a perfect read for the holiday season. I love that Bailey works in a bookstore and loves everything about Christmas. This made her a fun character. As soon as she said Christmas starts when Santa comes at the end of the Thanksgiving Day parade I could relate and became invested in the character. I knew there was something Magical bout Charlie since he just kept appearing so the ending wasn't a surprise but it was still really cute and creative. I like how we are shown the differences between the realistic Jacob and the ethereal Charlie and that Bailey chooses Jacob even before she knows who Charlie is. My only complaint is that her back and forth internal monologue got a little repetitive. This was a really well written story and I would recommend it.
I loved this one! Definitely didn’t expect that twist. Well done. Merry Christmas! Super cute. I’m always down for a cute Christmas story.
