This is a fun animal book great for younger readers and those readers just gaining confidence in novel reading. It's a good time, has fun characters, and I think a lot of kids are going to like it

The Ballad of Tubs Marshfield is a fun book for younger children who are just now reading chapter books. I would recommend this book to teachers who teach 4-6th grade and perhaps 3rd. While, this book wasn't my cup of tea I can see students enjoying it.

After the death of his mother Alex is sent to stay with his father - at least temporarily. Alex is quite hesitant at first - he barely knows his dad - but as the summer goes on the two bond over horse rides, harrowing escapes, and horse shoes.

Overall I liked this book and there haven't been many strong "horse" books lately. I did think a lot of the action came early in the book and the rest of the book was a slow glide but it did end well.

A nice story featuring frogs, birds and other animals that teaches a lesson on the impacts of causing harm to the environment. Fans of The One and Only Ivan would probably enjoy this.

Delightful tale of swamp inhabitants who fight back against the pollution that is killing them and destroying their home. Tubs is a musician who needs to figure out where he belongs. His cousin, Lila, left the swamp for school and returned as a doctor. Tubs stayed home but now feels the call to perform in the big city (New Orleans). As he prepares to leave, changes are occurring. All of the swamp dwellers are becoming ill. Lila has done research and Tubs locates the source of the contagion. He creates a new song and the change is shared around the world. Together, the creatures stop the drainage that is killing their home.
Terrific book to spark dialogue about environmental impacts. Readers will love the charming characters and see the message beyond the cuteness. A needed book to encourage younger readers to think about the impact of their actions.
