What would you do if you had the chance to get back with an ex that you viewed as "the one that got away?" This is what happens to Ros when she returns to England after spending three years in America. She is forced to move back home with her parents who want way too much private time, so they create a room for her in a shed in the garden. When she gets a new cell phone and sends a group text to all the numbers in the cloud, she gets a response from her ex boyfriend, whom she hasn't talked to since their break up three years before. They decide to rekindle the relationship, although Ros's friends think it is a bad idea. Eventually, Ros begins to see that her ex is not who she romanticized him to be, and that she has spent too much time living in the past. Realizing this opens her up to new friends, new love, and a new job. I absolutely loved this book. It made me think about my own life and how I handled things in the past. I cannot wait to read more from Lindsey Kelk!
While not a romance novel in most people's eyes, being that Ros and Patrick aren't with each other all the time, it was a fun light hearted read. It started out so strong, so funny. There were moments that felt a little underwhelming in terms of the story line and comedy, but it was an enjoyable read.
The book is nothing new or exciting. She tries to be very relevant and include lots of current pop culture stuff which just seems forced. I feel she rushes her books and needs to pace herself more, have more of a break in between books, instead of throwing something out year after year, so that she can really hone her craft. Or maybe she just isn’t that great of an author is what it may boil down to.
The book was a little boring. It doesn't fly out of the pages. I thought it had potential for more, but to me it fell flat.
Lindsay Kelk is one of my favorite authors and this book solidifies her top standing! This book was laugh out loud funny (hello Ros' inner monologue) and absolutely relatable to me as a 30-something. Lighthearted, funny and a great, fun read!
I loved this read! The characters were so relatable and funny and the scenarios were realistic. Read it quickly and looking forward to reading more by this author.
Not my favorite- was hard to get into and found the main character unlikeable. I wasn't wanting to finish and put this one aside.
I want to thank Lindsey Kelk, Harper Collins, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of In Case You Missed It in exchange for an honest review.
Before I begin to dive deep into this book and everything I absolutely adored about it, I just want to take a second to point out the cover! I rarely included any discussion on covers in my reviews, but this one is simply too good to miss! I love everything from the font used to the color choices. I know they say to never judge a book by its cover, but if you see this and fall in love with the cover first...I promise you you will not be let down!
Now with the cover out of the way, I can discuss what I truly loved about this sweet, funny rom-com. I feel that the best way to describe my reading experience for this book was: familiar. In the best possible sense of course. It felt like home and the exact type of story that you love to engulf yourself in when life is becoming too much.
One of the reasons that I loved this book so much is because of Ros, the main character. I saw so much of myself in her that I was constantly cheering her on through every page. After returning home for financial reasons, Ros reaches out to her friends and accidentally comes in contact with her ex, Patrick. Your heart will ache for Ros as she tries to become someone that Patrick loves. Then there is John, the opposite of Patrick. I absolutely flew through this book just to consume their slow-burn romance.
Overall, I thought this was a very comforting novel and will highly recommend it to everyone!
What a cute and fun book! I laughed out loud and found myself smiling the whole time I read it. The author used such amazing detail I could honestly picture the whole book (even the sushi!!!) and felt instantly transported into the life of Ros and Snazzlepuff. And easy read to take your mind off of the world and escape into Ros' life.
Lindsay Kelk is new to me. I found this book to be a great one. Hooked from reading this book. Really liked this one. I will read more Lindsey Kelk book again
I had to DNF this book... the buildup was just too little and wasn't really up my alley. I may give it another shot sometime though,
This rom-com wasn’t bad, but I had a hard time connecting To the main character, Ros. With rom-coms in particular I feel like if I can’t connect to the main character I have a hard time focusing not he book and that definitely happened here. I did like Ros’s friends who she reconnects to after mysteriously having to leave Washington DC to return home to London (although I was disappointed there wasn’t more of a story there...). I also loved her parents and how they were rediscovering themselves after both of their children had moved out. They both frequently had me laughing out loud. But the story itself was only ok. The romance Ros falls back into is shallow and hard to invest in.
This was a funny, entertaining story about adjusting to life as it is and letting go of the past. The main character Ros loses her job and comes back to her hometown to figure out her next stage. As the pieces of her new life come together, she has to reconcile the old pieces of her past. This story is definitely women’s fiction as opposed to a real romance (I wasn’t clear on this when I started reading but actually liked it more than a straight romance). I liked this book and related to some of the aspects of Ros’ journey. I did feel frustrated with her frequently though. She really held on tight to her ideas of the past and relationships that just didn’t work anymore. Although all of us know that struggle, she was a bit whiny about it. I did not like her ex-boyfriend and really wanted him to leave the story. I think that made it hard for me to enjoy the entirety of the book. I also think that is purely personal preference, other people may not feel similarly. Overall this was a good story and I think it will appeal to many readers.
Thanks to Lindsey Kelk, HarperCollins Publishers, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Ros got on my nerves a bunch, but was also relatable. Which may be why she got on my nerves. Ros felt real, making decisions that were stupid, but were totally the type of decisions real people would stupidly chose. I also related so much to the nostalgic feeling Ros felt throughout the whole book and loved watching her grow into herself. Several embarrassing situations (and Ros's amazing friends) help provide the com to this romcom.
(Also, I was totally rooting for John the whole novel).
A very simple a light rom-com about adulting and second chances. I loved watching the main character figure herself out again and falling in love. There were so many times I felt for the character as her life had completely been topsy-turvied by her recent loss of a job. Kelk did a great job making realistic characters and realistic relationships. Watching Ros trying to cope with all the things that are changing around her and have changed since she left was very fun. I would not say that this book was extremely romance focused, it definitely focused more on Ros trying to figure out her life and romance just happens to be a part of that journey.
While I felt there were some dry moments in the book, this was a very sweet and fun read. I would recommend this to anyone trying to find a light and quick read with a sprinkle of romance.
- 4 stars -
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy of the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a very cute story. I love Lindsey's humor! The one thing that I had a bit of an issue with was that I struggled to picture what the characters look like! On the one hand that's great because I can imagine whatever I'd like but on the other hand I would have loved a few more details.

** Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins, and of course, Lindsey Kelk, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What a great rom-com/chick-lit adventure by Lindsey Kelk. I am always a fan of light and fun books like this. After reading something incredibly, Netgalley gave me the opportunity.
In Case You Missed It follows Rosalind, a 32-year-old returning to the UK from America after four years. She returns and finds her life is nowhere near what it used to be, and everything has changed- from her parents to her friends and even her living situation. What happened to everything she knew? Her comforts? Ros aches for the past. The book takes a turn when Ros gets notified of texts from people she swore off for good in her past - including her ex-boyfriend. What begins is a second chance - Maybe the past is the past for specific situations and memories, but what happens when the past turns into your future?
Overall, I did enjoy this book. I found it to be a bit dry at points, and I did get bored slightly. The bits of humor did make up for this though and there were moments because of it. The plot was good, and the characters delivered it in the way I expected them to. I did enjoy that this book wasn’t fully revolved around the romance theme. We see our main characters and how their arcs play out, and for most of the novel - they are not a couple. This was great in my mind because I enjoyed seeing them as individuals.
Beyond the last mention, this book was everything I expected it to be, and for that, I give it a solid 3 stars. I have enjoyed Lindsey’s work in the past and will continue to support it if they continue on this path! :)
After three years of working in the U.S., Ros returns to London and moves into her parent's backyard shed (yes, you read that right...their shed). Upon her return, she sends a mass text message that ends up being delivered to her ex-boyfriend. We're quickly introduced to Ros's eclectic group of friends, who are very entertaining, as well as her ex-boyfriend, Patrick, who spends most of the book vaccilating between two extremes: charming and slimy. There's also the handsome but cocky bartender, John, who we immediately know is a better choice for Ros than her jerky ex-boyfriend. Throughout the book, Ros helps her parents plan their vow renewal, gets a job producing a podcast for a teenage gamer named Snazzlechuff, and helps her friends work through their own issues. The story held my attention, and there were several laugh-out-loud moments. I appreciated that there was very little sexual content, which is outside of the norm for a lot of contemporary romance. My only complaint was the crass language. But overall, this was an entertaining read. Well done!
A fun book. I know it will be a good book when I start reading, and from the first chapter, it makes me smile. Ros is a young woman who is ready to go home after four long years. Her plans are simple, get a job, rent an apartment, and a cell phone that works. However, not everything can be as she wants. As a temporary solution, she will have to live with her parents. Ross's room is a shed, which makes her feel nostalgic for what it was like before she left. The next step Ross will take is to acquire a new cell phone to ping with messages from people she believed had been permanently deleted, including her ex's. But sometimes we all want a chance to see what we've been missing. I loved this story, primarily because it takes place in London, one of my favorite cities. Ross is a nice girl. It makes me laugh that she doesn't know much about technology, like me. I love the chance to reconnect with your ex because maybe it's to heal wounds or a fresh start. I enjoyed this story from the beginning to the end. For me, Ros was my favorite character. I thank NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for providing me with a free copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a good read but not one I would consider romance. There was very little romance until the end. Overall was a decent read but not a hit for me.
This book was given to me an an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
