This is classic Seinfeld-I listened to the audio version and it was laugh out-loud funny. I went back and then read the book and could hear Seinfeld's voice in my head (from watching him on TV for so many years). His humor is clean, which is hard to find in comedians, spot-on and so funny!
A quick enjoyable read for fans of Seinfeld, 90s nostalgia, or preferably both. Structured as a series of jokes rather than a continuous story it’s easy to come and go without worrying about losing track of the story. The one major strike against this book is that most of the jokes have already appeared in Seinfeld intros. Astute watchers will recognize the bulk of the punchlines before the turn. 3.5/5

Thank You Netgalley, Simon and Schuster, and Jerry Seinfeld for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a bit disappointing for me. Yes, It was funny but I found it to be just a bit of all the same when it comes to Jerry. I think I would have enjoyed it more as an audiobook
I've seen Jerry's standup, I watched the sitcom and Comedians in Cars, I've seen the Netflix specials... so I've heard many of these before. I still laughed. Maybe a book isn't as good a format as an audiobook or a TV special, but it still works.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
Nice collection of Jerry Seinfeld's material. I was hoping for more biographical info though. When I requested the book, I didn't realize that it was mostly a collection of his comedy routines. If he would write an autobiography, I would definitely read it.
It's like a greatest hits album but in book form. All the classic bits, it's fun to see it in written form but I would recommend an audiobook or seeing an old Seinfeld standup routine.
This book illustrates the talent of Seinfeld and how much we miss and need his humor. I was fortunate to have the boo in text form and have an audio copy available which showed me how much fun this book could be with students in a public speaking class. Tone, inflection, delivery, pace, humor. It's all there and would make for one heck of a fun class!
By the way, Jerry reads the audio book so it's like having a personal performance!
Tried reading this before bed, but found I was laughing so hard, I kept waking my husband. I then graduated to dramatic readings of each chapter before dinner, and it has been the best possible pandemic entertainment. Seinfeld may just be the funniest white man alive.
I definitely felt this book was a must listen rather than a must read. You really have to be paying close attention when listening as the jokes are frequently very short. The book was enjoyable but was jarring with its fast paced delivery.
The answer to the question posed in the title of Jerry Seinfeld’s new book “Is This Anything?” is a resounding yes. They say laughter is the best medicine and with all the horrific things that have happened this year, we all need some of that medicine. Usually when I read a book that is advertised as comedy I experience some internal chuckles but “Is This Anything?” is one of those very rare books that made me lough out loud and call people to share some of my favorite monologue bits. While I found the book extremely funny I think it would be even better as an audio book so I’ll be buying it this week. Listening to it will be much healthier and more entertaining than my current news obsession! Whether you read or listen to “Is This Anything?” I think this is some covid and political relief we all can use.
My review was posted on Goodreads on 21/29/20.
This book is a great reminder of a lot of Jerry Seinfeld's old bits. There are short introductions to each decade of his jokes, which are interesting, though I wish there was more there. Basically, if you like Seinfeld's standup, you'll enjoy this trip down memory lane.
I recently watched “Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill.” It was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a very long time. So, when I saw his new book, “Is This Anything?” available, I jumped at the chance to read it. In this crazy year (2020), who wants to spend time with heavy, depressing, or intellectual books? Not me! We’ve had enough heaviness this year. This is a collection of all the comedy bits Seinfeld has written organized by decade.
I enjoyed the book and was laughing out loud throughout the read and shared different bits with my family. I must admit, not hearing it in Seinfeld’s voice, it did lose some of the humor for me. I highly recommend you get the audiobook for that reason. However, this book is exactly what I needed, when I needed it! This is a great read if you need to decompress and relax.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

I liked the early year's stuff the best. Thanks to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for the ARC.
Not my favorite book... but it might hit the spot for someone else.
3 star
I enjoyed the early parts of the book. It was a trip through the fun years. The single years. The new stuff didn't come across as well. There wasn't the same flow as his earlier stuff. A fun read, but it lacked a personal touch.Thank you, Netgalley for this opportunity to read.
I am a big fan of Jerry Seinfeld and I absolutely loved his book! A great read that shows. you more of this amazing comedian and person! Thank you to Netgalley for the preview! Great book!
This book was received as an ARC from Simon & Schuster in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I could not get enough of this book. While reading this book, I could not help but picture myself being front row at one of his shows saying these brilliant lines. I've always wanted to go to one of his shows and I was such a fan of his TV shows that I knew this book had to measure up to its brilliance and it most certainly did. Hysterically funny that will leave your diaphragm jumping up and down and your face and stomach in pain from all the laughing that you will do. I know this book will be circulated well and I can't wait to hear some thoughts from our community.
We will consider adding this title to our Biography collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
I've enjoyed Jerry Seinfeld's comedy for many years, and am a big fan of his sitcom. This is a treasure trove of his comedy--gathering his best bits, and lots of them--from over the years. However, as you read it, you quickly come to realize how much of the enjoyment of his comedy is in the delivery--whether deadpan or mischievous--which Seinfeld does so well. Missing that, a lot of this kind of falls flat. Still enjoyable to dip into from time to time, but his performances will always improve the material.
Though some of the bits have not aged quite as well as one might have hoped, this book is filled to the brim with hilarious observations about the absurdness of life and the machinations that go into making it happen. This book is loosely chronological, but could really be read in any order. It's like a comedy devotional--pick up the book, turn to a random page, and fill yourself up with the glory of comedy. Recommended for all fans of stand up, as well as Mindy Kaling, Poking a Dead Frog, and Amy Poehler.
Seinfeld shines at comedy about the mundane. Some of his older material really does not hold up well, however, especially his bits about women.
As a huge Seinfeld fan I loved this look back at his favorite jokes and memories. The only problem with reading it was not hearing his voice and tone, so I'm looking forward to the audiobook even more.
