This series does a great job of marrying the psychic with the spine chilling thrill of a good mystery.  North Chastain is losing the ability to see the full spectrum of the night that make him a great hunter but he has one last hunt he needs to complete and this one is personal. He teams up with Sierra Raines who is a messenger in the murky paranormal antiques trade to help him track down a particular artifact that he hopes will provide answers to a lot of questions.  Readers put on your seat belts and get ready for a rollercoaster ride as these two connect the dots and not only solve the mystery of the artifacts but also find their own true calling.
The US government once wanted to harness the paranormal as a way of leading the arms race. North's grandfather a famous magician  of the times with more than a touch of the psychic was a part of the team . Then mysteriously he disappeared and the labs were shut down leaving a lot of questions and the nearby town of Fogg Lake shrouded in a paranormal fog and its inhabitants with psychic powers.  North has grown up with rumors that his grandfather was a traitor who sold weapons and secrets to the enemies. Despite not believing these tales he has done what he can to live down the disgrace.
Now an artifact with his grandfather's signature has hit the market. North's father is in a coma after have touched it. North needs to track down the provenance but before he can get his hands on it someone is gunning for him and using some pretty lethal paranormal weaponry.  As North and Sierra chase down the clues, their hunts takes them to a mental asylum where strange things are happening, to Fogg Lake where it all began and at every step they're being hunted and barely staying one step ahead. The story moves at a rapid clip bringing our protagonists closer to each other as they have a chance to save each others lives and work out the puzzles left for them by North's magician grandfather.
I love the supporting characters in this story. Sierra's mother who heals through her singing in the same way as her father offers people a direction through his poetry. Then there's the oracle of Fogg Lake who makes pronouncements. There's the sisters who own the antiquities store in Seattle with their very unique guardians who may be playing a larger role in a forthcoming book.
The writer maintains the suspense all the way to the end surprising readers with the final truths and believe me it's about more than the villain of the piece.  I really enjoyed how it all came together and am chomping at the bit for the next chapter in this series.

All the Colors of Night by Jayne Anne Krentz is the second book in the Fogg Lake series. Book two follows North Chastain a man who is losing his psychic abilities when he gets a call that his father is in a coma and dying. North needs to find the weapon so find the cure to save his dad. The only person who can help him is Sierra Raines, a go between getting artifacts from buyer to seller. Can the two find the item to save North’s father, solve an old mystery and survive?
This was a fun read. I flew through this book and enjoyed it for the most part. My biggest problem was there was a scene word for word from book one that made me question my sanity. I was trying to figure out if I had read this book before. I figured out the problem, but this drew me out of the story. I also knew the ending which was maybe in the first book, or I have read enough of Krentz that I knew who the bad guy was from the beginning.
Overall, I did enjoy this book and would recommend it. I would give it 3.5 stars and I round up because I still smile when I think back to this book from a couple weeks ago. Thank you to NetGalley, Jayne Anne Krentz and Berkley Publishing Group for an ARC. This was an honest review.

I had set aside a week to read this second book in Krentz's Fogg Lake trilogy, thinking I'd read a chapter here and a chapter there in between my many holiday tasks. It was a good plan...until I opened the book. I finished it in one day. Cover to cover. The whole book. That's how good it is.

Sierra and North have earned a place among my all-time favorite Krentz couples. Individually, they're likeable, admirable, and have my utmost respect but, as a team, they're unstoppable. I loved them! Their chemistry was intense and organic but developed slowly as their primary focus was on their mission. I enjoyed the respect that developed as they worked together and the fact that sometimes Sierra took the lead while, at others, it was North. They created a true partnership and I was with them, cheering them on, the entire way.

Another aspect of the book that I enjoyed was Krentz's ability to create a paranormal community and make it seem everyday normal. These characters, with their psi talents and energy manipulation, became real to me as did the challenges they faced. Krentz's detailed, vivid descriptions not only brought the characters to life but the forests, caves, hidden labs, and night colors as well. By the time I finished the book, she had convinced me that a trip to the Pacific Northwest should, of course, include a little side trip to Fogg Lake...only in the daylight, of course, when the green fog subsides. But later, under a clear midnight sky, how I would love to have the ability to see all the colors of night.

The story itself is tightly woven, fast paced, and expertly filled with enough well-placed twists to keep me eagerly turning pages to discover what surprises awaited around the next turn of the page. And there were surprises in abundance along with one final twist that, I have to admit, I did not see coming.

All the Colors of Night is book two in the Fogg Lake Trilogy but stands well on its own. However, once you get to know these characters and the secrets of Fogg Lake begin to reveal themselves, there's a good chance that you will be scrambling to get a copy of book one: The Vanishing. Like I did.

Sierra Raines is making a living as a go-between. She helps find rare items for collectors and then delivers them. But the life of a go-between isn't always easy. Sometimes people don't want to pay for the objects that have been found as happens to her in the opening scene. But that is okay, she has her own means of protecting herself that aren't as obvious as something like a gun. It is her skills as a finder that have her being called in to help North Chastain find out what happened to his father.

North is a monster-hunter. He finds the people with psychic powers that are using them to harm others. At least, he is at the moment. Unfortunately, there is something going wrong with his powers and he is slowly losing them. But that isn't as big a concern as the fact that his father was attacked and left in a psychic coma.
The attack seems linked to an incident that happened in Fogg Lake in the '50s. Psychic research was occurring there and an explosion caused the lab to be shut down but left a lingering residue of psychical powers in the residents. Sierra's family is from Fogg Lake and North's grandfather was a researcher there so they both have ties.
A nice addition to the series with characters that are well drawn and a story that is new but fits in with the series.

All The Colors of Night by Jayne Ann Krentz is the 2nd book in her Fogg Lake series. Refresher: 40 years ago in the small town of Fogg Lake, an explosion caused various paranormal effects on many of the residents; such as visions, auras and other unique abilities. The community kept to itself, not revealing anything about those strange effects; leaving the town bare of updated mechanics, such as wifi, computers, cell phones, as the dense fog blocked those signals.

We meet our heroine, Sierra Raines, at the start, when she finds herself in a dangerous situation, with a client threatening to kill her; but with some of her paranormal ability to use mirrors, she was able to escape. Sierra is a psychic expert on artifacts, working for a firm that trades those artifacts, as she finds and delivers them, since she is one of the best in her field.

North Chastain, our hero, also has paranormal ability as a ‘cleaner’ for The Foundation, tracking down bad psychic criminals. North has recently begun to worry that he is losing his powers, as his specialty for seeing psi lights has suddenly gone wacky. When North’s father is attacked and in a psychic induced coma, he suspects that someone is determined to find a dangerous artifact in the secret Fogg Lake lab 40 years ago; in order to save his father, he asks and is given Sierra to help him find the artifact. At first, North isn’t sure Sierra can be trusted, but in a short time he realizes how good she is and together they make a great team. Right from the start, Sierra discovers that those glasses North wears has some bad paranormal effects and tells him this is why his powers are going away. Over time, she does come through helping him often, and North begins to find himself falling for her, as Sierra is smart, brave and a bad ass, not to mention beautiful.

They will learn that the man who attacked North’s father was part of a psychiatric institution, forcing experiments on people with little paranormal ability. As they get closer to finding the truth, the trail leads North and Sierra to Fogg Lake, where they discover the lab, where his grandfather worked leaving hidden clues and artifacts. Who is behind the attacks and threats on their lives?

What follows is an exciting, intense, action filled adventure, with many twists and turns. North and Sierra were a wonderful couple and a great team. It was nice to see their romance build; especially as they were able to save each other numerous times. To tell too much more would be spoilers. All The Colors of the Night is a fast-paced suspenseful mystery thriller, with supernatural elements that add to the storyline. Jayne Ann Krentz once again gives us another wonderful story in this series; which I look forward to reading the next book. If you enjoy suspense mysteries, great couple and a dose of supernatural, you need to read this new series.

An interesting read, even though it isn’t my preferred genre. The author does a good job of making you feel you are a part of the action!

The second book in the Fogg Lake series is just as fabulous as the first one.. North Chastain is a great paranormal talent in locating dangerous psychic criminals. When his father locates a relic that is connected to a secret government laboratory that was known as the Bluestone Project. In locating this relic North’s father falls into a deadly coma.
North knows how to located criminals but when it comes to locating the relic he is going to need help.
Sierra Raines is the perfect person for this job. Her professional reputation took a direct hit when a false accusation was made against her. Sierra accepts the assignment even though it means she must deal with the mysterious Foundation.
Their hunt takes them back to the place where it all began Fogg Lake. They uncover many shocking truths. Including the return of the Jones Family. With one of them living and another being Sierra’s boss..
Fogg Lake holds many of the answers the North and Sierra need and ask them more questions.

Excellent! Fast moving, great characterization and a lot of really interesting secondary characters, make this a fun and exciting addition to Krentz's mountain of work. I especially enjoyed reading about the secondary characters as you gotta wonder when/if they're going to get their own books.

If you've been missing Krentz's psy books or her books as Jayne Castle, this is a book for you. (And as someone that wonders if she's ever going to get back to the Castle world, this was a bit of a balm for my soul.)

When his father suddenly falls into a coma-like state, North Chastain is convinced it was caused by a deadly artifact from a secret government program known only as the Bluestone Project, and he needs that artifact save his father.

Sierra Raines makes her living finding and transporting valuable objects with a psychic provenance. When North Chastain approaches her for help, Sierra takes him on as a client.

Working together to find the lost lab and the work of psychic geniuses -- or crazies -- the pair unearths shocking truths about what happened the fateful night that altered Fogg Lake forever, but they are playing with fire—someone in town knows what they’re doing, and will go to any lengths to stop them.

The second entry in Jayne Ann Krentz's Fogg Lake trilogy will have her fans and new readers clamoring for the third installment to come. Highly recommended.

The secret behind Jayne Ann Krentz's long writing career is her ability to continue to write fresh characters & story-lines. This 2nd book in the Fogg Lake series integrates past series in a new & fresh approach and continues to make me eagerly reach for her books (under whatever name) whenever they hit the shelves.

North Chastain possesses a paranormal talent that gives him the ability to track down the most dangerous psychic criminals. When his father is attacked and falls into a coma, North is convinced it was caused by a deadly artifact traced back to the days of a secret government laboratory known only as the Bluestone Project. North knows his only hope of saving his father is to find the artifact. He is good when it comes to tracking down killers but to locate the relic, he's going to need help from someone who knows the shadowy world of obsessive collectors, deceptive dealers, and ruthless raiders…

With her reputation in ruins after a false accusation, antique expert Sierra Raines is looking for a fresh start. She turns to the murky backwaters of the paranormal artifacts trade, finding and transporting valuable objects with a psychic provenance. When North Chastain approaches her for help, Sierra takes him on as a client, though not without reservations. North represents the mysterious Foundation, the secretive organization established to police the underworld populated by psychic criminals and those, like Sierra, who make a living in the shadows of that world.

North and Sierra soon find themselves at the scene of The Incident that occurred decades ago in Fogg Lake. The town and its residents were forever changed by the disaster in the nearby Bluestone Project labs. The pair unearth shocking truths about what happened that fateful night, but they are playing with fire—someone in town knows what they’ve discovered and will do anything to make sure the secrets stay buried.

The second book in the Fogg Lake series continues the story of a small town permanently changed by an paranormal explosion in a secret government facility. North and Sierra are really good additions to the series, both strong and capable with fantastic chemistry. Their feelings for each other make sense. With the presence of some characters from previous Krentz titles, this title is definitely not a place to start, but it's a solid middle entry in the series.

Sierra Raines is a go-between whose job is to deliver paranormal artifacts from sellers to buyers. This is a new career for her; she has tried quite a number of careers in her search for her true calling. She's lucky she has a paranormal ability of her own because the collectors she works with are often paranoid and dangerous.

North Chastain has a paranormal talent of his own which he is gradually losing. He fears for his sanity. When his father is hit with some sort of paranormal device that is threatening his life, North needs Sierra to help him find the device in the hopes that it will also save his father's life.

The two face all sorts of dangers from people who don't want them to succeed in their search. While working together, they also fall in love which comes as a surprise to both of them since neither thought there was a possibility of that.

This story is the second in the Fogg Lake series but stands alone quite well. In fact, the story is part of a grouping of stories that are set in the same world though in different time periods Many characters in this book have larger roles in others in the grouping of books.

I liked the witty dialog and banter between Sierra and North. The story was fast-paced and exciting.

I really enjoyed the characters in this latest offering from Jayne Ann Krentz. Struggled a bit to get into it, but it was worth sticking with it!

ALL THE COLORS OF NIGHT by Jayne Ann Krentz is the second book in the Fogg Lake paranormal romantic suspense series and is set in contemporary times in Washington state and Las Vegas, Nevada. What a fantastic read! I was hooked with the first sentence. Sierra Raines was falsely accused of a con when working for a big auction house. Now she functions as a go-between by finding and transporting objects with a psychic provenance. North Chastain has a paranormal ability to track down dangerous psychic criminals. When North’s father ends up in a coma, North hires Sierra to help him track down an artifact that might save his father. What caused the coma? Does an artifact exist that can save him? Will North and Sierra be able to work together? What will they find when they investigate the dark side of the paranormal world?

Sierra and North are fantastic, but flawed protagonists. Both are smart and have past histories that haunt them. Krentz does a great job of making them multidimensional showing change and growth as the novel progresses. This is a case where the protagonists balance each other well. The secondary characters play a definite backseat role in this book, but they enhanced the story without overwhelming it.

The world-building was clear and intricate; smoothly adding paranormal aspects to contemporary times. The plot was complex with lots of twists and turns and the stakes were high. The tension and action kept me fully engaged and made this a true page turner for me.
This is a riveting story with protagonists that I could relate to, like, and cheer on as their escapades became ever more dangerous. Surprises along the way kept me guessing what would be uncovered in their journey together. Several themes run through the tale including family relationships and history, ethics, romance, murder, trust, mental health and much more.

Overall, it was an exciting, suspenseful, fast-paced and unique story that I did not want to put down. The combination of action, suspense, danger, intrigue, chemistry, romance and more kept me fully engaged. The subplots tied together well, the main characters were strong, intelligent and loyal, and the action had my heart racing. It does leave one subplot point unresolved which could be a thread in book three of the series. If you enjoy thrilling paranormal romantic suspense novels, then I highly recommend you check out this series. There is enough background that ALL THE COLORS OF NIGHT can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order. I’m looking forward to book three.

So this is the second in the Fogg Lake Trilogy which deals with a town with psychic secrets. Sierra Raines is a disgraced antiques expert whose reputation is in tatters from a false accusation that now works for The Vault as a go between delivering artifacts with psychic provenance to collectors. North Chastain works for the Foundation using his paranormal talent to track down the most dangerous psychic criminals. When his father suddenly falls into a coma while tracking down an artifact belonging to his grandfather, he thinks it must have something to do with the secret government labs The Bluestone Project which his grandfather worked for. He needs Sierra to help him since she has connections within the shadowy world of the artifacts trade.

I was so excited when I got this arc because I really love Jayne Ann Krentz, all her pseudonyms and paranormal romance/mystery in general. I really loved the first novel and this one was just as good. I have read all her arcane society and harmony books which deals with all her characters having some kind of psychic ability. This was just really good and I loved the mystery and I liked the twist of who was actually the villain. I love the backstory with the Foundation and Vortex which is the holy grail of the underground labs that in each book they are getting closer and closer to finding out if it is real and where it is and who behind the renewed rumors about it existing. Just a really fast and great read and can’t wait to read the next one.

Thanks to Berkley and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

Second in this series, someone has found a paranormal weapon, maybe from the old Fogg Lake labs and used it on North's father. He now has to track down the weapon and figure out how to reverse the damage to his father. Of course, the go-between assigned to him proves to be much more help than he anticipated (and much more interesting). A great addition to this series.

I'm a big fan of Jayne Ann Krentz and have been for years. Her PNR-based books are some of the best romantic fiction I've ever read. Her newest book ALL THE COLORS OF NIGHT (Fogg Lake #2) takes us back to the eery town to continue solving the puzzle of what happened there decades ago.

When North Chastain's father is attacked and put under some sort of psychic alter state, North begins investigating what happened he pair us with artifact go-between Sierra Raines to discover what a psychic artifact had to do with the issues with his father. This leaded them down a twisted road of stolen artifacts, a psychiatric institution, and missing people with psychic talents.

Sierra and North are both loners, thinking their psychic talents make them unmatchable. Since this is a JAK book, you know the two of them are perfectly matched, they just need to realize it..
Once they do this book becomes so much more than the hunt for killers and stolen artifacts.

5 well deserved stars to another winner from JAK.. Thanks Netgalley for the sneak peek of another great book.

Paranormal action packed fiction genre waltzes with suspense and collides into romance. What a delicious combination! It’s one of my fastest readings.

The plot was riveting, intriguing, keeping you on your toes even though there are some holes, they were still tolerable. I mostly loved both of the MCs and their connection, chemistry, working as devoted partners.

Sierra is badass, natural, smart woman who has been screwed over by authorities, needing to make a fresh start. North deals with his own troubled past, looking for a loyal team member, showing respect to Sierra, appreciating her talent from the beginning which earned him thousands of brownie points from the beginning. Yes, another candidate for best book boyfriend image!

The plot seems like a little complex but when you get into it, you’ll see it’s fast paced, moving, easy to read. Let’s take a quick look:

North Chastain is literally human- criminal tracker device: he has a unique ability to trace the most dangerous criminals and brings them to justice. After his father’s sudden falling into a coma, he realizes the main reason of his father’s fallout may be connected with deadly artifact which can be the production of very threatening secret government project called “Bluestone”. He needs to dig more but he needs an accomplice help him move at dark criminal world of traders, collectors, dealers.

Sierra already suffers from the damage created by false accusations. As North is the member of Foundation, a secret organization hunting the psychic criminals and Sierra is so called criminal who is been wrongly accused by them. They should be enemies but their common benefits to bring justice and solve the mystery behind government’s dark schemes bring them together.

As I said before it was enjoyable, easy, fast, unputdownable reading with good character development which earned my 3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

This series is getting so much better at each book and I’m looking forward to read more of them in near future.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for providing me this riveting arc in exchange my honest thoughts.

All the Colors of the Night is the second in the Fogg Lake series, featuring a town with psychic secrets. It's seriously got everything that you could ever want from a romantic suspense: twists and turns, a multitude of people whom cannot be trusted, secret caves, mysterious fog, and a bad ass duo on the case. I'll tell you right now that I have never, ever guessed the ending to a Jayne Ann Krentz romantic suspense. She is so good at leading you along, making you believe that you know exactly where it's headed, only to rip the rug out from under you and turn your assumptions entirely on their heads.

Krentz heroines are always winners, but Sierra Raines is top notch. She a high-level psychic who doesn't need any man to protect her. She's sex-positive (none of the hemming and hawing of Krentz's early 90s heroines) and has no trouble speaking her mind. AND SHE USES THE BATHROOM. No joke. I know that's pretty rare for romance heroines, but I nearly did a spit take when she tells him, after their romantic night in a cave, that she needs to go out and go to the bathroom really quick. In the wild. It made me so happy to see that.

And North is an impeccable hero. He's saved time and time again by our heroine and never once does he feel emasculated by that fact. No, he feels grateful. He treats her as an equal and, so wonderfully, he has no problem voicing his feelings for her on a regular basis. He'll go down in the books as one of my favorite Krentz heroes.
