Unsurprising story that just didn’t keep my interest as much as I hoped it would.
The main character, Coco, seemed very immature. I wanted to shake some sense into her more then a few times! Her decisions were just childish. Her continual bad choices started to get on my nerves. Yes, she got it together in the end.....thank goodness!
The only saving grace with the story was Sam, Cocos childhood friend.
All in all, All That Glitters is a typical Danielle Steel story. If you are a fan of the author, you may enjoy this book. Give it a try!
Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
All that Glitters was a great read! I love the ability of books to wash away the current world and take you somewhere new. This main character Coco is relatable and leaves you wanting more. Definitely worth the time. I am new to Danielle Steel but she has made me a fan!
Ah, another novel by Danielle Steel... I can always count on a novel that I know I will enjoy when I read one of hers. Her writing style is unique, especially her use of sentence structure and commas, and that her main characters are always beautiful and rich, but yet it works. I know I will fly through the pages and will always have a positive rating. It amazes me that she has written so many novels and can still cover new topics and areas not yet written! I yet again am recommending another book written by Danielle Steel.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher Random House Publishing – Ballantine for providing me an advanced electronic copy of the book for an honest review.
I am early fan of Danielle Steel. I have read most of her earlier work, but couldn't keep up with all of her publications and fell behind. When I saw this book available on NetGalley I wanted to get caught up in one of her novels again.
The story is typical of Danielle Steel. Even after all these years, I could predict what was going to happen. Coco suffers an unspeakable tragedy in the loss of her parents. In an effort to find her place in the world she runs from relationship to relationship. Learning something about herself with each one.
The book was fine. The main character, Coco seemed to be a spoiled, immature woman and I hated that about her. I also hated that she had so many men through-out the story. It was as if she felt her life wasn't worth living without one...but then on the other hand maybe it was the loss of her parents, in such a violent way, that made her feel so desperate.
The writing didn’t bother me and the characters were okay, but it was nothing spectacular. I love when books are thought-provoking, and I would read this, set it down, and not think about it once until I picked it back up again. I didn’t care for the characters at all, there was nothing that made me feel for them, and I found that I thought Coco was a bit annoying. It was a quick, entertaining read, though...well written and clever at times, but for me, not as enjoyable as I wanted it to be, however, the plot was able to take me away from myself and all the happenings right now.
All That Glitters written by Danielle Steel is comfort during a pandemic! I had not read Ms. Steel's books for many, many years. This ARC is the third of her novels that I have read this year. If you're looking for an easy read with the usual trials and tribulation, All That Glitters is for you. This book centers around Coco and Sam, who are childhood best friends and. Coco faces tragedy while in college and Sam is always at her side, in spite of their religious and family differences. If you like comfort food, read All That Glitters! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
If only life could come full circle as Danielle Steel's books do. No matter what fate hands them, these women come through stronger and ready to tackle the next hurdle. ALL THAT GLITTERS follows this same path while giving us an emotional journey with a young woman who seems to have everything going her way.
Coco has led a charmed life. Her path has been easy, her journey so smooth, most would believe in the charm. Her first tragedy is a major one, both parents die, leaving her without her life's anchors. From this point, Coco will react to each troubling event in her life by making one poor decision after another. In typical Steel style, readers are swept along with Coco. As her misery grows, we root for her next move to be the one that will set her life back on the right path. and, no spoilers.....she does find love and peace in the end.
I love Steel novels. The huge sigh at the end of each tells me she has done it again....pulled me into the story until I'm invested in the ending. Great read all the way around.
I read this book for work. Team Penguin Random House.
Another novel from bestselling author Danielle Steel that her fans are sure to love. Would also make a great holiday gift!
3 Stars - Thank you Netgalley and the publisher Random House Publishing – Ballantine providing the book for an honest review.
The book is about Coco and follows her through her life after tragedy hits. Her decisions and life choices. Coco is rich beyond belief, gorgeous and thin. She starts seeing a married man then realizes he is not going to leave his wife, drops out of college to move to London, falls in love within a month and within 3 months is married again to surprise a man who wants her for her money. It continues on with the typical DS plots and storylines.
The book is a typical Danielle Steele and is predictable from the first line throughout the story line. The story isn't new, at all, and Steele has done shades of this storyline several times in the past. Poor little rich girl is taken advantage of by big, bad men who want her money! As the story started out you wanted to believe it would end differently from what you predicted but sadly it does not and follows the same outline D.S. has done several times in the past.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - For an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
#All That Glitters
By Danielle Steel
This is the story of the Coco and how she coped, or tried to cope, death of her parents’. It’s a story of a lifelong friendship and bonds between people who met as children.
Coco was simply trying to love and be loved however she wasn't great at selecting her partners and with each new relationship came new challenges and new lessons learned.
I truly love this book. Real to life up and down. A true friend will always be there.
Thank you to Danielle Steel, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.

I could not put this book down! Coco is an only child who navigates life pretty easily. She has Sam, her best friend, who drops everything whenever she needs him. Tragedy strikes and Coco's world is turned upside down. She goes through many trials, trying to find her place in the world after everything and it makes her much stronger in the end. The ending is what one is hoping for as they make their way through the book. I wanted to be Coco's friend the entire time to clue her in but eventually she sees the light. Thank you Netgalley for the advance copy.
Another good book by Danielle Steel. Coco was happy with her parents and best friend Sam until tragedy struck.. Her parents went on a trip and were killed in a terrorist attack. She moved to London for a temporary job and went into business with her boss. She had a couple affairs that turned out bad and a failed marriage to a gold digger. She had a daughter from her marriage who developed leukemia. and was cured after a year of treatments. She dated a very wealthy man until she realized who she loved and wanted to be with. She went back to New York to find out that he loves her also.
I received my book from netgalley. I love Danielle steel book's I love each and every one they get better with each book.
I loved the character's and the setting's and the cover and the title. I can't wait to read more.
It has been years since I last read a Danielle Steel book. Even after all this time, there were no surprises. A completely predictable, easy read without a lot of depth. I've read worse but I've read better and this will probably be the last Steel book I read.
Thank you #netgalley and #randomhouse #delacorte for the eARC.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House- Ballantine for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are my own.
Despite the majority of Danielle Steele novels I’ve read being a little predictable, she still has a way to put you in your feels. This book follows Coco, a young woman in college. She seemingly has the perfect life and a fantastic best friend. But when tragedy strikes, Coco feels lost. She jet sets off to London, trying to fill a void. Will she?
While the ending I definitely felt like was coming, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey this novel took me on. I felt like I was growing up with Coco as she tried to find herself after a tragedy. It was such a sweet ending. After all the hardships she endures, to watch her find happiness fills my heart with joy.
If you want a quick read, full of emotions, this is the book for you!
All That Glitters by Danielle Steel is another one of her wonderful romance novels. Nicole (Coco) Martin, our beautiful young heroine, has led a wonderful life, growing up with her wealthy family, her loving parents, spending vacations at the Hamptons and attending Columbia University, as well as a summer job as an intern in a magazine. She spends a lot of time with her best friend, Sam, whom she grew up with. Sam comes from a strict Orthodox Jewish family, who are worried about their friendship, since his family pushes him to join his father’s business and to marry a religious Jewish woman. Despite his parents worries, their friendship never changed over the years…best friends who will always be there for each other.
Life for Coco drastically changes when her parents are killed in Europe from a terrorist bombing attack killing many in Cannes. Coco at 21 is now the sole heiress to the family fortune, and devastated by the loss of her mother and father. It takes her awhile to get past the devastation, but with Sam’s help, she begins to move forward in her life. Her father’s business partner helps her planning and advising on her inheritance. When she spends a lot of time with him, she begins an affair, even though he is many years older, and eventually after being together for a while, she learns he is married and does not want to be a mistress, and breaks up with him.
She then goes to London for a job, and meets a new friend, Leslie, who eventually will become partners with Coco after a number of years. Coco meets Nigel at one of Leslie’s parties, and they have a whirlwind fun romance that does end up with them getting married. Nigel, who is a younger son to London royalty, is used to enjoying things, even if he has no money. He begins to make plans to buy mansions, summer homes spending Coco’s money, but when she catches him having sex with a girl, she threatens to leave him. Coco gives him a second chance, and a few months later, when she runs home to tell him that she is pregnant, she finds him once again with another woman. She divorces him, as she will give him the summer smaller home, as long as he waives his rights to the child. Coco’s track record with men has not been good, and Sam tells her often, that she rushes into things.
While Sam goes to work for his father, a job he does not like, he is also forced to date Jewish woman, and eventually marries one. They will have 4 children, but their marriage was falling apart, as his wife wanted a career.
Coco will meet a famous writer, and become involved with him for a happy and content 4 years, until her life changes, when her daughter is sick and diagnosed with Leukemia. She will fly back to New York and with Sam’s contacts, be treated by one of the best cancer doctors for children. After a year of treatments and follow-ups, Bethanie (Daughter) will go into remission, and they go back to London, with her ex-boyfriend no longer around.
Coco’s career blossoms, and though she does date, she just wants fun and no strings attached. When Sam’s marriage begins to falls apart, Coco is always there for him, as he has always been for her. A wonderful long-lasting friendship.
All That Glitters is a wonderful heartwarming story of one woman’s journey through her life, filled with success, love, tragedy, happiness and friendship. Coco and Sam’s friendship was amazing and wonderful to watch, as their strength gets them through many challenges bringing them even closer. If you enjoy romances and family, I suggest you read this book, so very well written by Danielle Steel.
Thank you to NetGalley, Danielle Steel and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the ARC of All That Glitters. This is my personal review.
All That Glitters is the story of Coco and her life which is filled with good, bad , sad ,love and wonderful friendships.
Coco grew up with her best friend Sam right by her side. Sam has always been there for her as she has been for him.
The story gave me everything I expected from a Danielle Steel book and I enjoyed every bit of this as I have all of her other books.
Thank you again for giving me a story that left me feeling like I knew each and every step of Coco and Sam's life.
I have not read a Danielle Steele book in seems like forever. She never disappoints. I fell in love with her writing all over again.
I find Steele's books interesting stories, but have a hard time with her repetition. Wish someone could tell me why the repeats
Danielle Steele weaves a gripping and heart pulling tale of a young woman who must overcome tragedy and find her place in this world. It is a story that holds meaning for every person who will read it. Great job Danielle! I highly recommend.
