This book is classic Danielle Steel. Coco had the perfect life in every way. Then tragedy strikes and all she has left is a ton of money and her BFF Sam. Coco is naive enough to believe guys when they say they love her and don't need her money. Fast-forward to end of the book where she ends up with the perfect guy for her despite the book telling us frequently that he isn't the perfect guy for her. I'm not sure I was in the right mood while reading this because yes, she has problems, but her money makes most of the problems go away. I'd like to read more books about seemingly-regular people who don't have a billion dollars to throw at their problems. A good read if you love Danielle Steel.

I love Danielle Steel and have been reading her books for as long as I can remember. So, I was of course excited for a new one by her!

However, this story didn't grab me like most of hers do. The plot seemed very familiar and the end was predictable. But this won't stop me from reading more books from her in the future!

All That Glitters, by Danielle Steel, is a beautiful and breathtaking story about two best friends and the trials and triumphs they experience while living widely different lifestyles thousands of miles apart. Coco and Sam’s bond is an example of how friendships can be strengthen by the differences of two people, and not necessarily their similarities. All That Glitters stood out as a modernized story because it went beyond the traditional love story of a woman and a man meeting, falling in love, overcoming obstacles, and forming a stronger relationship as a result. The reality is that people don’t always get it right the first time, and sometimes not even the second time. It was refreshing to read about a character who was flawed, and had to make a lot of mistakes along the way before finding true love and success. Coco learns that a mistake is only a failure if you don’t learn from it and find the strength to pick up the broken pieces and move forward in life.
Coco and Sam have been best friends since a young age, and have more differences than similarities. Despite their differences, they formed an unique unbreakable friendship and stood by each other through pain, loss, suffering, heartache, and mistakes. They freely gave advice to one another, but did not try to stifle each other when they made mistakes along the way to finding happiness. Although they don’t always agree,, there isn’t anything they wouldn’t do for one another. The strength of their friendship is tested more than once, but nothing ever lessens their powerful bond.
Sam is part of a devout Jewish family and his mother has strict beliefs about following the traditions and standards of a Jewish family. She was never comfortable with Sam and Coco’s friendship because she always worried that their friendship would turn into more. That would have been unacceptable in her eyes because it was highly important that Sam marry a Jewish woman and continue the tradition and legacy Sam was born into. Although his father has a less intense approach to following the religion to perfection, he does have very high expectations of Sam working in the family business.
Coco’s parents were somewhat more free spirited in their beliefs. They encouraged Coco to be cautions, work hard, and follow her dreams. When the die tragically while Coco is working as an intern and nearing the goal of earning her college degree, she is understandably grief stricken. Sam, loyal as ever, does everything he can to try to help her get through it. As the days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months, he can tell that the is moving farther and farther away from the goal they shared of finishing college. Despite the inheritance from her parents, Coco has always had a strong work ethic so Sam is surprised that she has chosen to remain holed up instead of attempting to return to the world of the living. It takes the encouragement from someone older and wiser than Coco to coax her our of her shell of depression, but she learns the hard way that people don’t always have the best intentions. Facing heartbreak and feeling lost all over again, she calls the business of her previous internship and asks if they have available positions. Surprisingly they have an available position in England. Determined to work hard and make her own success, Coco is grateful for her inheritance, but only sees it as a means to help her get closer to accomplishing her goals and has no intentions off of living indefinitely off of their money. She quickly realizes ow much she likes her job in England, and forms a good friendship with her boss Leslie. When Leslie invites her to a house party she feels obligated to go. She is surprised to meet such a welcoming and charismatic man, Nigel, at the party and Is instantly drawn to him. Nigel seems to know everything about everyone and broadens her horizons by introducing her to the most magical places and experiences possible. Although he is open and honest with her from the very beginning, she has a lot to learn about him and realizes that perhaps she should’ve listened to Sam’s advice.
Still living in America, Sam is following in his father’s footsteps at the family business and is miserable. More than ever he feels obligated to life a lifestyle that his mother wants for him since his siblings have rebelled and have caused such tension within his family. Coco urges him to follow his dreams and find something and someone that make him happy because she feels like he is simply settling when he could and deserves so much more. In contrast, Sam warns Coco that sometimes simplicity, comfort, and reliability are more important than the flash and the highly passionate lifestyle she leads. They both agree that they feel too young to get married and have babies, so at least that’s one thing they still have in common.
While Coco continues to make mistakes, she grows up learning from harsh experiences and becomes a better and stronger person from it. She makes poor decisions that threaten to destroy her stability, but at least realizes that she has to stand strong if she really wants her dreams of love and success to come true.
Feeling pressured from his family in America, Sam makes decisions to please the highly respected people in his community, and most especially by his mother. Admittedly his life isn’t what he wanted, but he at least feels like he’s honoring his family. When they are both surprised by finding out they were going to be parents at a much earlier age than either of them had planned, they still remain supportive of the choices they have each made in their own lives.
When tragedy strikes Coco and her child, Sam is right by her side to try to help her survive another potential disaster. Although Coco wasn’t finished making poor decisions yet, at least she feels like she’s starting to make better decisions. Just as Sam supported her in her grief and tragedies, she was also there for him when an unexpected death and other decisions threaten to destroy him as well.
Through the best and worst choices that each of them made, their friendship never faltered, and they were their for one another to help them each learn the truth and find the happiness they both longed for.
Thank you Danielle Steel, Delacorte Press (an imprint of Random House and a division of Penguin Random House, LCC), and Netgalley for allowing me to read All That Glitters. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion. I sat at home all day and read it in one sitting because it was so engrossing that I couldn’t put it down!

This was such a wonderful book, reminiscent of books similar to her older ones. It was a lovely story and kept me turning the pages to the ending. The main character was a strong young lady who overcame the obstacles in her life. I highly recommend it.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I have been a fan of Danielle Steele books for years and this one did not disappoint. Coco had everything a girl could want. The summer before her senior year in college, her life changed forever. She went looking for love in all the wrong places. This book was well written. I cant wait to read her next book.

I loved this book! It is a well written story that pulled me in right from the beginning. It also took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. This is one of my favorite by this author and I always look forward to seeing what is next for her. I had no issues connecting with the characters. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and kept me turning pages to the end. I loved watching the characters grow throughout the story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Sometimes we need a break from the chaos of real life. Cute and sassy with a happily ever after, Danielle Steel’s “All That Glitters” provided me with that. Filled with sadness, deceit, love, friendship, and even death this book drew me in from the beginning. Another well written easy read as I have come to expect from Steel.

To me Danielle Steel can do no wrong. I've been reading her books every since I was 12 years old. (Probably shouldn't have been) and All that Glitters is no different.

Granted Steel does have a typical MO for her books, and usually that bothers me, but with her books its like coming home to something familiar and comforting. In this book we deal with Nicole (Coco for short) and like Danielle's previous book, there is a tragedy. It leads Coco to try and cope with the loss and it also leads her to make some bad choices at least romantically.
However, as always there is a happy ending which I love that Steel always does.

As usual its her characters are very well developed, likeable and relatable. It was easy to connect with them and get invested in their story.

Another great one!

Thank you netgalley, Random House, Ballantine and Delacorte Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

Sam and Coco have been best friends all their lives, starting at a very young age. When tragedy strikes Coco's family, she is left alone to maneuver her way through her twenties with the added "burden" of a large inheritance. Between the lure of the inheritance and her naivete, Coco is taken advantage of by three men before she smartens up.

As per usual with Ms. Steel's novels, the outcome is fairly predictable. It is a fast, easy clean read, I found it to be enjoyable.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Danielle Steel evoked so many emotions from me in All That Glitters. This is the story of Nicole “Coco” Martin, a young lady is the only child or two parents who think the world of her. Her graduation from a prestigious university is fast-approaching, and the world is her oyster. What could possibly go wrong? But something does go wrong, and now Coco must make decisions that she is not equipped to handle. This story follows her journey, her mistakes, and her triumphs. It is a hard book to put down. I found myself extremely upset with Coco throughout most of the book while also feeling a sense of sadness and empathy for her situation. A bird in the hand beats two in the bush. Coco had to travel this journey to find out what is important in life. Do not let the fact that this might me categorized as a romance novel stop you from reading this book. It is a great read, and there are some important lessons to be learned. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

Reading Danielle Steele always feels like wrapping myself in a warm blanket. I often turn to these new releases in between "heavier" reads and it always seems to fit the bill.

All That Glitters is no exception. It is a very formulaic set up and you see the end very clearly right from the beginning. Regardless.....It still has romance, luxury, heartbreak and friendship - all great Steele elements.

Danielle Steel has done it again, she has written another best seller. This book had me reading into the early morning hours. A powerful book about lost, friendships and relationships. You will fall in love with the 2 main characters. I cant wait for her next book.

All That Glitters by Danielle Steel is new territory. I had never read one of her books before, despite picking up and reading the inside flap, and I am glad that this was the first book that i’ve read by Steel. It has made me want more of her books, but this one in particular was not what I expected. From the introduction of the main girl Coco to the closing of the final chapter, I was captivated. I felt a connection to the main character and got angry and sad with her. I might have sent a few fitful texts to my friend as I read complaining how fast the emotions were changing and how I just wanted Coco to listen to me because I clearly knew what was best for her!!
Ultimately, this book met my standards for books. It has friendship, it has romance, it has drama, and it has sorrow. All of those aspects of the book bring it into the realm of being human and when a book makes me feel those emotions that I try to avoid, those slight indicators that something big is happening or that your life is going to change, that is when I really start to see the book and its characters as my friends.
Danielle Steel brings everything that I want in a book and keeps it up to date with the world, including some events that have happened recently and made an impact on my life. With those details and that kind of attention, All That Glitters is a different kind of book. One that takes you on a journey you never imagined and breaks your heart just to put it back together in the end.
I recommend taking the time to read this book or add it to your “to be read” list. I plan on revisiting this author time and time again to be taken on many adventures and explore the lives of the characters that she has created.

Another wonderful read by Danielle Steel.
This story was a quick read. I loved the characters and found myself rooting for them or getting mad at some of their choices, as if they were real people.
Coco and Sam have been best friends since Fourth Grade. With their families of two very different religious backgrounds, a romantic future together is never anything they consider, but through all life's ups and downs they are there for each other. Coco seems to be attracted to men that are either after her money or not interested in long term affairs. She finds herself in one bad relationship after another over the years, some with expensive consequences. Sam on the other hand feels the weight of his familial obligations weighing him down and doesn't have the strength or personality to go against what his family wants for him. At 25 he finds himself married to a woman he doesn't love, in a job he doesn't want. Through 20 years Coco and Sam continue to be the rock for each other, always supporting one another, even from a distance.
But one day, the differences in their family's beliefs don't seem so important. But is it too late for them to find forever in each other?
As always, Danielle Steel delivers books that flow easily, characters that become real, and places that become alive with description.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really don't even know where to begin with this one, I do have to though start off with that it was my very first Daniella Steel book I have ever read. I don't know what has been holding me back from reading her books but after this one I will definitely be reading more. I really enjoyed her writing style and was able to follow the story very well in this one.

This book start off with Coco (well it is mostly about her and her life), she has an amazing life, amazing parents that love her so as she is their only child, a great best friend whom she would do anything for. She is in her last year at Colombia and has an internship at Time magazine. Life couldn't get any better for her until everything she has know come crashing down. Her parents take their annual trip to Cannes where there is an awful terrorist attack that killed and injured many people and unfortunately Coco's parents were some of the people that were killed. She is now left with everything as her dad was a successful business worth a lot of money. She soon has to come to terms with the loss of her parents and figure out how to navigate life without them. She has been left with a huge inheritance, a house in South Hampton, and an apartment in New York which is a lot for a 21-22 yr old to handle.
Sam is her best friend, they have been friends for most of their lives and yes they are just friends. Sam's family was Orthodox Jewish and he of course had to marry within his faith. His parents were always concerned that there was something more between them but as the years past they just always remained the best of friends. Sam was there for Coco when her parents died being the only constant thing she had left.
Coco seems very naive about a lot of things but when it comes to men its seems really bad. Enter Ed.....Ed was her dad business partner and he swooped right in when she was most venerable and basically woo'd her, made her promises that he really could not keep and Coco fell hook line and sinker. She fell in love with Ed and his lifestyle that he liked to live. Of course trusty Sam was there to warn her but Coco felt she needed to listen to her heart and boy did that come back to bit her in the butt. Ed turns out to be only using her as a side piece. Coco left heartbroken decides to take a job in London, a new change of scenery might be just what she needs.
She is still working for Time but in the London offices where her boss Leslie introduces her Nigel. A man that lived the same life as Ed did only this one didn't have a wife attached. They have a whirlwind romance that eventually leads to a marriage one she thought she wanted. But Nigel of course had other plans, he plans included spending as much of her money as he could to live up to a lifestyle he wanted. All the glitz and glamor at Coco expense.
I got the sense that Nigel wanted his cake and to eat it too. Coco catches him cheating, to which she kicks in out and tries to divorce him but somehow he weasels his way back in. Just when things seem to get better and Coco finds out that she's pregnant, she catches him cheating yet again. This time she kicks him out for good. But of course he isn't going to go quietly and wants to take a lot of money with him.
Coco put all of that behind her and tries to focus on herself and her upcoming child. She meets a famous author to which she falls madly in love with but he is really emotionally unavailable. They spent 4 glorious years together in an arrangement that suits both of them.
In the mean time Sam has now gotten married and having children of his own, something he honestly wasn't ready for.
When Coco's daughter Bethanie get diagnosed with cancer everything changes in her life. The man she was in love with can not be there for her emotionally or physically because of how broken he is and now she has to travel back to New York a place she has really returned to since her parents died.
The trials that Coco has to go through at such a young age are shown but she has grown from the mistakes she has made and of course tries to do better each time.
Sam is now getting a divorce from his wife and Coco is thriving in her life and making the best out of things. It finally dawns on her that what she has always been looking for is Sam. He has always had her heart and its taken many years for her to realize what he truly means to her. She is very much in love with him and finally gets the courage to tell him!! Its him that has All The Glitters for her.

After a tragic accident, college student Coco's life is changed forever. This book follows her through the next decade as she becomes a strong person with many ups and downs. She does finally get her HEA. It drew me in from beginning and kept me interested until the end. I enjoyed this book.

My first Danielle Steel was “The Promise” back in 1977; I was a big Danielle Steel fan could not wait until her next novel was release. I am now reading book number thirty-one; not the annual reads as back in the day. It seems the stories are so similar, or perhaps my reading taste has changed somewhat.
There have been some recent gems and since this has glitter in the title, I thought it just might be a gem for me.

This is the story of young Coco who is trying to cope with the loss of both her parents. She is having a very difficult time and then true love seems to sweep her off her feet! Hmmm?
I have no doubt Nicholas Sparks fans would love this. It held my interest as I was hoping for true love!

Want to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group ~ Ballantine for this early release granted to me in exchange for an honest professional review. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for November 17, 2020

This was a nice change of pace to read during these crazy times. It started out rough for Coco, losing her parents. We see her struggle to find the right relationship with me and over and over things fall apart. Her best friend Sam is always right there beside her offering support, advice or just to be a silent presence for her. It was enjoyable to watch her journey to struggle to find happiness! Thank you NetGalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Danielle Steel is so consistent in her story telling, I started All that Glitters synopsis unread. As I began reading the story, I was pleasantly surprised by the story line. I found the story so engaging and well written. I was pulled in immediately. I fell in love with the characters and felt every joy and pain that Coco and Sam experienced through the years. I’m going to experience a book hangover on this one. A great read. 5 stars.
