I’m not one to go for cliffhangers but this is Thea Harrison and it’s about Dragos so, even though I tried to resist, I ended up capitulating.
Now, I adore Dragos and Pia. Always have. I loved catching up with some of my favorite characters and seeing how Pia and Dragos were doing. Little Niall was adorable and giving his parents a run for their money. And Dragos interacting with the newest surprise addition to the family was hilarious. But, even with all that, I felt like something was missing.
Maybe it’s the installment thing, I’m not sure. But the first part dragged for me as it cataloged the issues of uprooting their lives and moving. It just didn’t capture my attention like some of the other books have. Then suddenly everything went into a fast-paced frenzy right before we hit the cliffy, and what a doozy that was.
Although I did mostly enjoy the book, I think I’m going to wait until all the installments are out before I read the rest. This way, if parts drag a little, I know I’ll still be able to get to the important bits in one go instead of plodding through, only to have to stop just as it gets to the good part.
Even though The Unseen didn’t work as well for me as some of the other books featuring Pia and Dragos, I’m still a fan. I’ll just have to be a patient one while I wait for all the rest of the books to release before I dive back in.
Rating: 3.5 What a doozy of a cliffy Stars
What a wonderful return to the world of Pia and Dragos .
Along with Stinkpot and many of their friends and colleagues they
are set to start a new life away from Earth .
The story charts events as they both prepare and actually leave Earth- showing
the doubts Pia has and how Dragos overcomes them .
As I don't want to give away any spoilers I will say all is not as it seems in their
new world - new dangers arise.................. expect a total CLIFFHANGER !!!!!
As always the Author has managed to write another entertaining book in this
fascinating world and I await the next book with bated breath - perhaps the
next book could be a little longer ?? PLEASE !!!
I was given an arc of this book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review
Pia and Dragos are finally making the move to the Other land of Phyacia. After figuring out a few hiccups Pia and Dragos are settling in their temporary home while their permanent home is being built. Dragos thought this land was unoccupied when he decided to settle there, but strange things have been happening and no one is sure why or how these things have been occurring. A wonderful novella by Thea Harrison, The Unseen is the first part of a four part series. Be warned The Unseen ends in a cliffhanger. And I for one can not wait for the next installment!! I received a copy of The Unseen from Net Galley.
Rating: 4/5
As someone who hasn't read the other Elder Races books, I definitely think having that background is helpful but not entirely needed. There were instances where I felt like I was missing some prior knowledge, but overall it was still enjoyable!
Since this is considered a Novella, it was a delightfully quick read that ended on a cliffhanger! I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers, love that I want to read more but hate when I can't if it is not yet released! That being said, if you are one who hates cliffhangers, you may want to wait until the whole series has been released (if you can wait that long!).
Overall, I really enjoyed Thea's writing style and am definitely now interested in reading the entire Elder Race series as I have been seeing great things about it!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes. I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this opportunity!
I love Dragos and Pia. This is a great start to a story about the next phase of their lives. I generally don't care for stories that come in parts as I am anxious for the whole thing, but there is enough here to keep me satisfied and looking forward to the next installment.
Out tomorrow!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That cliffhanger!!!!! I’m screaming right now, so ready for the next book already!
I love the Pia and Dragos stories, I’ve read all the Elder Races books and Liam’s stories as well. I’m still so excited about this series of novellas that focus on Pia, Dragos, stinkpot and the building of their new world.
Pia’s bittersweet feelings in the book got to me. I’ve moved a bunch and I felt her pain about leaving behind a home full of wonderful memories and the excitement of a new adventure. The Skeeter/Dragos relationship had me cracking up and the feistiness of Niall is so sweet.
The possible danger of the Unseen in the new land was freaky! Things are moving without people noticing and new construction is collapsing and then those last two chapters blew my mind.
The Adversary comes out next (with another cliffhanger 🤯) and I can’t wait!
I haven’t read the Elder races so I think I may have been missing out on some information or bits I should know in reading this, but having said that I still really enjoyed this. I love Thea’s writing. As it’s novella length it was a really quick read and it ends on a cliffhanger, which annoys me, but only because I really need to know what happens next ( I tend to buy books all at once soo don’t have to endure cliffhanger endings 😂) I loved Pia and I will definitely be reading future books and going back to read the Elder Races now.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Will post a complete review online when serial is complete. This is a continuation of Thea Harrison's "Elder Races" series. Four parts, I believe. I will say that I'm pleased to hear more from Pia and Dragos; and that although they leave the Wyr, the Wyr doesn't leave them. Lots of interaction with the gang so far.
This is a continuation of the Elder Series, and I have enjoyed many of the books in the series after getting hooked on Pia and Dragos. In this book they are moving to the Other land of Rhyacia, and leaving behind NY to their son Liam.
What did I like? These are novella sized books, and there will be four starting with this one. This one was about moving and about an unknown group living in Rhyacia. The unseen are just that... unseen ghostlike people. The story itself is very entertaining and first three will have a cliffhanger like ending. Highly enjoyable, and five stars.
Would I recommend or buy? This series has hits and misses but this was a pretty good story. I have not read every book in this series but I enjoyed part one of this branch of their time in Rhyacia. I think if you enjoyed book one in this series, this story is definitely a must have. I would love a copy.
Thoughts for the author? Congratulations on your new release!
I received a copy to read and offer an opinion. Five stars.
***4 Stars***
It’s been a minute since I’ve delved into the world of the Elder Races, and to be quite honest I’m not entirely caught up with it, but I’ve always had a love for Dragos and Pia and was curious to see where they at and how they were doing and I gotta say, it was a lot of fun. Crazy. But fun to get to spend time with quite a few of them again and baby Niall.
As for that cliffy, and it’s a doozy of a cliffy, well, definitely didn’t see that one coming, but I’m looking forward to finding out just how everything will work out!

Wowsers!
I loved the Elder Races series and the love story between Dragos, most powerful Wyr and leader (also a dragon) and Pia the diminutive vegan thief kicked that series off. Over the years we have had some short stories updating us on Pia and Dragos, their marriage and two sons. Now they are about to leave this world/plane and move lock-stock and barrel to a new land called Rhyacia.
I was expecting this novella - warning, this part one and ends on a cliff-hanger - to be like some of the previous novellas like Pia Does Hollywood or Liam Takes Manhattan, fun reads for die-hard readers and those who wanted more about their favourite couple. I was wrong!
This started off slowly but then odd things start happening in Rhyacia, things are being moved and construction of a new concert hall keeps being interrupted when the frame collapses. What happens next is enthralling and intriguing and I can't wait to read the next novella in the series.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I've only read the first book in the series so far, and I enjoyed Pia and Drago's story. When I found out there was a novella coming out on this couple, I had to read it to see what they are up to.
I like that we are getting a next phase of their life. Pia has had a second baby who is the same as her Wyr form, and what I remember from her book, her Wyr is highly hunted. Since the baby is the same, I understand why they are moving to another land for his protection. What we learn in this first novella is that it may not be as safe as they thought it was.
This actually makes me want to go back and read book one again, and then finish the series. I loved how much Drago is protective of Pia. There was also some hilarity in this with their baby Niall and a dog. I found this pretty entertaining until the end where the danger comes in. This ends on a cliffhanger and I have no idea what just happened. I hope the second novella releases soon!
All of our beloved Elder Race Characters are back!!
I love the Elder Race series. Pia and Dragos have always been my favorite couple. Reading all the short stories just makes my day. They are set to make a new life in the other land of Rhyacia. When they arrive things don’t go as planed. A powerful Evil is waiting for them,
It’s going to be so hard to wait for all four books to come out but it will be so worth it to read more about this couple and all our favorite characters.
Big Giant Cliffhanger!!!
Absolutely thrilled for another Pia and Dragos, et al story. The Elder Races is one of the best paranormal series. Thea Harrison has got me hook with her story-telling. Her Elder characters are intriguing and interesting. The action scenes are superb as usual. This is a wonderful addition to the series.
This is Book 1 of 4 in Rhyacia Chronicles. I'm looking forward to Book 2..
I voluntarily read and reviewed an eGalley from NetGalley. My opinions are honest and unbiased,
With this book Dragos and Pia are facing a big change in their lives, moving to Rhyacia. Their last days in New York are interesting. Pia guilts Dragos into caring for a dog, which goes about how you think, but the best thing there is the dog adores Dragos, which makes for great fun!
When they arrive at Rhyacia things are and aren't what they thought. Pia learns that there is some crazy things going on, which quickly spins out of control. It lead to a couple of interesting scenes at the end and will make for interesting reading of the stories to come.
I love Thea Harrison's voice but I think the story really suffers from moving the setting from NYC to the otherlands. It's fine, but doesn't quite have the same feel to the magic... Also (no spoilers) but something happens to Dragos in this book that already happened in a previous book. It felt repetitive. It's nice to read but not my favorite of the Elder Races.
