Overall, I had a great time reading this story. I will continue to pick it up anything Emma Lord writes. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

I absolutely adored Tweet Cute and had to read Emma's next book. After receiving an ARC, I kept adding it to my TBRs and not getting around to it. I started it in 2021 at some point and then set it down. I was determined to make this the last month it was on a TBR. I was intrigued by the premise of group of friends doing a DNA test in solidarity of their friend who was adopted and one of the others finds out she has a full-blooded sister who lives close to her that she never knew about.

Emma Lord does characters fantastically. They feel like real people with real feelings and reactions. Although Abby isn't my favorite character of all-time, she felt authentic and I understood her motivations for her actions. I like that there was a budding romance but this was also a story about sisterhood too. I think all the subject matters were tackled beautifully and really weaved a rich story with fleshed out characters who I really connected with and cared about. It feels like real life and I think that really sets Emma apart from other YA authors. Even though the circumstances may be a bit outlandish, they really don't feel that way.

Are you looking for summer-y, campy, Parent Trap vibes? Do you love a good friends to lovers arc? What about the angst of teen self-actualization and individuation? THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

I really really loved this story--the characters were refreshingly self-aware, the storyline is great, the setting is dreamy. I can't recommend this one enough.

Cute, but overhyped. The story of two girls who are very different, but really not that different - given that they are sisters who did not know about each other until they find about that secret on DNA web service.

I find this novel being light, uncomplicated read - and this is where the problem lies. The book shows us some very, very complicated issues (adoption, lies, friendships broken etc.), which could (and honestly, should) take long, hard ways to be solved - but instead the resolutions are reached quickly, within few conversations. I get that is a YA, but not even in the fairytales the life works like that, so I would appreciate some hard work and emotional honesty here. The political correctness in the set-up does not help, too, as they are simply the modern plot props, but not the base to show the real diversity.

SO FUN!!! Loved the excitement of finding a long lost sister and the finding the betrayal of the parents but understanding why these things were done. Also as a classic Emma Lord move, love the epilogue showing things tied together so nicely.

The lack of communication in this book was slowly driving me insane. There were soooo many secrets and "missed opportunities" for honest conversations. And it wasn't just the kids . . . the adults were equally shady and evasive. At one point I actually wanted to SCREAM IN FRUSTRATION. That's when I knew I needed to stop trying to finish this book. It clearly wasn't working for me, and I'm not going to force myself to continue something I'm not enjoying.

The narrator was great, so bonus points for that.

Unfortunately, everything else about the book made me cringe. The awkwardness between Abby and Leo, her reluctance to confront anyone about anything, and even the relationship between her and Savvy. Abby had so many opportunities to talk to Leo, Connie, her parents, Savvy, and yet she chose to avoid, avoid, and avoid some more. Every time I thought a conversation was inevitable, something would conveniently happen that kept her from being able to talk about it. I can excuse one or two "unexpected" disruptions, but it can't happen over and over again and still be believable. (★★☆☆☆)

Just like her Tweet Cute, this was a very cute book. It was a quick, easy read. Would recommend it to any YA book lover!

Ughhh I absolutely loved this book!
The storyline hit a little close to home in more ways than one... and it made me smile throughout! I love reading books set in the PNW with mentions of specific places I know!
So if you love...
YA
Long lost sisters
And summer camp
Grab this cute book!

Super cute book. I enjoyed this even more than the author’s previous book, Tweet Cute. The characters are snappy and yet real. And I like the way friendship and sisterhood and family is portrayed so realistically. The characters sound their age, which is often not done well in YA books, but Lord keeps that tone perfectly. Enough pop culture references without being overdone too.
But you know what I’m just tired of? So many f words in YA books. I don’t care if that’s how a slew of teens talk. I just for once would like to be able recommend a popular YA book to my young teen daughter. I don’t care that she hears that word, she doesn’t say it and I don’t particularly want her reading it too. It’s just exhausting.
Alas, I’m still waiting to find that though.
But what I do love is that sex isn’t pushed in Lord’s books. It’s young, new love but they aren’t just hopping in bed together. Or even talking about it. That’s refreshing.

3.5/5 stars

Wow, Emma Lord really knows how to mix angsty teen romance with some intense family drama! I didn’t end up loving this one quite as much as When You Get the Chance but it was still overall an enjoyable read.

I love the best friends to lovers trope and I really liked the relationship between Abby and Leo but I wish there had been a bit more to their transition from friends. They were cute together but I guess I just wanted a bit more romantic chemistry. (But maybe that’s because this is YA instead of an adult romance?)

My favorite part was definitely Abby and Savannah getting to know each other and developing a relationship. Their slow and sometimes messy bonding was so sweet and fun to watch. I do wish there had been more to the camp setting though. So much opportunity for fun camp scenes and shenanigans and I feel like a lot of it was glossed over.

The family drama was… uhhh I don’t want to give spoilers but I had some serious issues with the parents and what went down between them. That’s all I’ll say here but feel free to DM me if you want to talk because I have thoughts! Unfortunately that messed with my enjoyment of the book a bit at the end because it’s what the whole plot is based around.

I really like Emma Lord’s writing and despite these issues this was still a cute and heartfelt story. Looking forward to her next one!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. Interested in trying it again though and hopefully it will take.

Emma lord is one of my new favorite authors. I am completely obsessed with all of her silly and quirky “romance” novels. They are definitely good for almost any age, even though her characters are usually young! Definitely reminds me of my first crushes when I was younger!

I really liked Lord’s first book “Tweet Cute” and I thought her sophomore release would have more of the vibe of insane, over-worked teenagers who are striving for the best. Except it wasn’t. Because Abby, our lead, is nowhere near as motivated or driven as you might think. Her sister, however, which she finds through a DNA test, totally is. And for the entire book, Abby will gaslight you into thinking her sister Savvy is vapid, a narcissist, and a joke for caring for her Instagram. Wow. I thought we were over writing Not Like Other Girls trope. But I guess I’m wrong. Just as wrong as Abby’s best friend who lied to her about their other mutual friend Leo liking Abby. Wow. I didn’t think I’d be so bored by this book but I was and that’s such a shame because I think Emma Lord had such a breakout debut.

With a healthy dose of teen angst, relatable characters, and a lighthearted romance, You Have A Match is a fun romantic comedy that's perfect for teens and adults. It's a great option for a holiday read, especially during the month of February, or something to welcome the warmth spring and summer. Emma Lord is definitely setting herself up as the Queen of (Fun) Teen Romance.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my 2nd book by this author. I quite enjoyed the summer camp setting. This is a book I read in 1 day.

Fantastic romantic comedy, perfect light read for a holiday or if you need an escape. Cute characters and adorable story line.

You Have a Match is packed full of reasons for teenage angst. Too much though, it felt to heavy and there was no resolution that felt complete.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
