4 stars ⭐️ I'm not typically a mystery reader but I really enjoyed this book!

Now I know what all the rave reviews are about. This is the first in a fab mystery/thriller debut series featuring a single mom and floundering novelist who finds herself agreeing, by mistake, to be a contract killer. Delicious fun!

Have you ever overheard a particularly interesting conversation in your local Panera?

Finlay Donovan was having a stressful meeting with her agent discussing plot points in her newest novel when a woman at the next table over mistook her for an actual contract killer, and that’s how this single mom’s life got even more interesting…

The author creatively & humorously blends the wild experience of motherhood with the art of being an author caught up in a murder investigation (& a dash of romance on the side) & I am here for it! I immediately started the next book in the series.

Thank you very much to NetGalley & Minotaur for making the entire series (thus far) briefly available for download in exchange for honest reviews!

This was a cute mystery. I liked that it was goofy, but I think I was hoping for substance. It felt like the action kept falling forward in an entertaining way, although it did take me a bit to get in to. This book was fun and entertaining, but not enough for me to rush into the next book. I do plan on continuing, but there's no urgency. The setup for the next book was perfection, though!

I absolutely love the character of Finlay, she is a single mom and a novelist. I love the character and how she gets herself involved in a real life murder after speaking with her agent about her upcoming book. I can relate to the character and her chaos so much. Overall I give this book a 5 star rating and can't wait to read the upcoming books in the series.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this title and thank you to St. Martins for providing me with an eARC, however I am prioritizing other books on my list at this time. I will amend my review to reflect my thoughts, when I start reading this series in the future.

This was incredibly fun! I love the random hijinks Finlay gets herself into and you just really feel what she feels. This is really wonderful writing and had me unable to put it down. I'm so excited that this is a series because I can only imagine what kind of hilarious accidental adventures Finlay and Vero get up to! So much fun and you need to read this!!

This book has been on my radar for years now! After finding the series available on NetGalley I finally dove in (even though I own the first 3) and I am bummed I waited so long! This book was hilarious, interesting, and the main character was so relatable.

Things I loved:
Strong femail friendship and support
Hilarious new take on a thriller
Kept me entertained the ENTIRE time
Strong female main character

I cannot wait to continue on with this series! I hope to be caught up by the time the new one publishes.

Thanks for the free copy Elle Cosimano, NetGalley, and St. Martins Press.

After re-reading this book, I have come to have a much greater appreciation for it and the series! I think this book stands out as one of my favourites in the series so far because of how funny it is! When Finlay finds herself misunderstood and involved as a possible hitman, I was laughing (obviously would NOT want to be in her situation). If you need a good laugh I would strongly recommend this book and this series. We love Finlay Donovan <3

What a cute, fun easy read!

Finlay Donovan is a struggling author, a divorced mom, and her bills are piling up. Her ex isn’t making things any easier for her while he fights her for custody of the kids. Finlay just can’t catch a break… or can she? Does she have what it takes to be the contract killer she’s mistaken for?

Someone called these books “campy” and I can’t agree more. What a light, fun, easy read through the unbelievable antics of Finlay and her crew. This mom is such a relatable character through it all- just don’t take it too seriously.

Thank you to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the ebooks in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know how much I need this book over the Christmas holiday. Every single divorced mom please add to your reading list for this year. Thank me later. I haven’t laughed so much in a while and after having COVID during the holiday I needed it. Finely is a mom of two with an A Hole for an ex. Baby he cheated and of course tries to gaslight her. She is a struggling author who finds herself in need of a new book and money. Her life changes when she is in Panera and a stranger over hears her talking about being a hitman for hire. Ok pause..:: I’m sure your thinking WTH buy it got so much crazier from here. She then goes on a free for all with her new bestie/exnanny and becomes fixers for hire. This whole plot was hilarious. All the secondary characters I loved. Everyone is important in this soccer mom coverup. This was book one of a series of 6. I’m hope to get to book two this month. I have to admit between the wig, sunglasses and chemistry with her and mr hottie cop I just knew she was busted😫. Thank you @netgalley @minotaur_books and @ellecosimano for my free ARC.

When given the opportunity to download and review Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, I wasn't sure if the book was for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed how Elle Cosimano got right into the plot early in the story. The story follows Finley, a struggling single mom and mystery writer, who inadvertently finds herself entangled in a real-life murder-for-hire plot. It creates a nice balance of humor, mystery, and real-life problems that many of us experience daily. The book is filled with cute twists and characters. Overall, this cute mystery genre has a new fan!

I love the idea of a suburban mom accidentally stumbling into the world of organized crime. The zany “I didn’t do it but it sure looks like I did” setup and the need to reverse engineer the murder to figure out whodunit is really fun. Will definitely continue with the series.

Fun & action packed, albeit a bit far fetched. I recommend this book as it is enjoyable and Vero is whip smart, sassy & downright hilarious. Vero is the best friend all women should have by their side! Thanks Elle Cosimano, Minotaur Books & Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book & for introducing me to my new favorite series!

So much fun I had to read it again when the publisher offered a download to ALL of the books in series - thank you! Book #1 is fast-paced and addictively readable. Reminds me so much of the first season of Netflix's Dead to Me.

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It is a clever, fast-paced, and humorous mystery. The book combines domestic chaos (which is really relatable for many busy parents), sharp wit, and intrigue. It is an entertaining and unique story. I appreciate the suspense as well as the relatable situations and strange circumstances that Finlay finds herself involved in. I think this book would appeal to readers who like a variety of genres as well as mystery/thrillers. I had a great time reading this book and I look forward to starting the next book in the series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily, free of outside influence. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this copy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Finlay Donovan Is Killing It by Elle Cosimano. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for a copy of this book. Published in 2021, there have been several sequels as well. Finlay is trying very hard to make ends meet in the wake of her recent divorce. She’s a struggling author & things are not going well. Her jerky ex-husband had an affair with their real estate agent, and now he has the nerve to say he wants custody of their two children. Finlay meets with her agent, and a woman misconstrues a conversation, deciding that Finlay is a hit woman who can get rid of problematic husbands. Hijinks and nefarious activities ensue. Thankfully, Finlay has a windfall & she hires her plucky nanny, Vero, back to help the family. This book made me chuckle plus there was a good mystery attached. I surprisingly enjoyed it & am now reading the sequel! Thumbs up! Easy fun read! #bookstagram #thumbsup #whatiread #firstbookoftheyear #finlaydonovan #bookgram #bookworm #reading #books #netgalley

The first idk how long part of the book was really slow to me, but the further into the story we got, I realized this had the genres I enjoy reading mixed together. There’s humor. There’s romance. There’s suspense. There’s mystery. Once we got past all the backstory setting the scene laying down moose prints kind of stuff, I was totally hooked. To know there’s so many more Finlay Donovan books makes me wonder what other ish this girl is getting into because dang was what happened here not enough?! I would’ve passed out from the anxiety if I was Finlay.
