This was another great read in this series.. From the moment I picked up this book the story line held me captive. This was a great romance book with some drama, intrigue and mystery. I loved Marlee and Cooper. I thought that Donna Grant did an incredible job of telling their story and I look forward to reading more by this author. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a heart pulling tissue needing book. Full of challenges and the realization that it’s ok to need help from the right people. I loved Marlee, Cooper and all the right people.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the eARC to read and review!

[Content Warning: this story involves infertility, and pregnant women being killed and their babies being kidnapped or cut out of the womb and then sold.]

"Looking For a Cowboy" was an okay read with a lot of sweet moments but I couldn’t suspend disbelief through most of the story. The premise sounded really promising but execution was underwhelming.

I don’t know much about P.I. work but it seemed negligent of Marlee to disclose information about her case and allow civilians (aka Cooper and family) to join her highly dangerous investigation just because they’re good people. I love Cooper and his family/friends and I know they mean well. But I don’t think it was right of them to insist they be included in stopping the bad guys.

I liked Marlee and Cooper together but I don’t know if I fully believe their relationship. They’re better as P.I. partners/lovers than as a couple. There didn’t seem to be any depth to it.

For the last 10 years, Marlee’s sole focus has been finding her sister’s baby on top of other missing babies and nothing else. But Cooper’s presence was more a distraction that easily causes her to lose focus on what brought her to Texas.

Cooper is a good guy searching for something he would enjoy doing on a regular basis. He’s there to lend a helping hand whenever someone needs it. But his character was okay, nothing special that distinguishes him from the others.

"Looking For A Cowboy" seemed more about Marlee, Jace and the antagonists than anything else. I enjoyed their POVs the most. However, it was Jace who stole my heart. I liked his backstory, his personality, and his hard-headedness. I wanted to know more about him than others.

This was a quick read all things considered. I had a difficult time connecting with the story and characters though. Jace was the best part and I really want to read his book ("A Cowboy Kind of Love"), although I’m worried there’d be the same high level of disbelief. I still love Donna Grant and think she’s a fantastic author. This series may not be for me.

Looking for a Cowboy is the fifth book in the Heart of Texas series and it's one of my favorites to date. I will say that this isn't all hearts and flowers, so if that is what you're looking for, this probably isn't the book for you. There are some sensitive subjects touched upon in the book including kidnapping, adoption and murder. With that said, it's one of the best romantic suspense novels that I've read in a long time.

When Marlee Frampton became a PI, it wasn't what she originally thought she would do with her life. But when life threw a huge curveball at her and her family when her twin sister was murdered, it was the only job she could see herself doing. She wanted to help those who couldn't help themselves. The clues in her latest investigation have landed her in Clearview and she's zeroed in on a couple who has just recently adopted a child thinking the infant may be a child who was abducted and then adopted through an adoption agency not on the up and up.

Cooper Owens is the kind of guy who helps everyone. His friends are some of the most important people in his life and the connection he has with them always has him looking out for each of them and their families. When Marlee starts poking around about Brice and Naomi's adopted son, Cooper immediately sticks up for his friends. He's immediately drawn to Marlee and wants to know more about her, but his allegiance will always be with is friends.

When Cooper figures out why Marlee is really in town, he offers to help her. She's never had help before, so she resists at first, but finally gives in. While feelings begin to develop between the two, they are also thrown into a high stakes quest to try to bring down the ring of people who have been committing hideous crimes for years. With the help of Cooper and his friends, will Marlee finally do what she's been trying to do for a decade?

This was a fast-paced book that had wonderful character development, the plot kept me engaged the whole time and it kept me guessing about what was going to happen next. There were plenty of twists and turns along with some romance as well. Another really solid offering by Donna Grant.

This is a heartbreaking story about losing a very important part of your life and making everything in your power that those who are responsible to pay. After years of tracking and hunting for her sister killer, Marlee comes in Clearview. At first, it seems that she comes to yet another dead end, but this time luck is on her side because for the first time she is not working alone. And for the first time, her heart is beating faster in the proximity of a very hot looking cowboy. For Cooper meeting, Marlee is love at first sight, and he will make everything in his power for the redhead to be his. Intense story with a mystery to solve and love to bloom.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

What a doozy of a subject matter! Seriously gut twisting. But that definitely added a sinister and tense atmosphere to this entire story.

I love cowboys and small towns. Cooper may not be a cowboy but he’s the next best thing. He’s always willing to step up do whatever needs to be done. We’ve seen him in the previous books always joining in the fray. He’s not afraid of anything it seems. He’s watching his friends slowly start to find their brides and he’s starting to think about his future. But thinking about it and coming face to face with it are two different things. The moment he laid eyes on Marlee, his world was changed.

Marlee has a mission. It’s her job and passion and she doesn’t need distractions. She’s done her research on this town and it’s people but nothing could prepare her for actually meeting them, especially Cooper. She thought her job was cut and dry, and she’d be in an out in a few days, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. She never imagined what would lie ahead for her.

This was an insta love romance mixed with a load of suspense and I adored it! Kept me turning pages as I read it in one sitting. I look forward to reading the next one!

A new author to me but I will look for more books by her. Marlee 's pregnant sister was murdered and her baby was stolen. Marlee is a cop who turned into a private investigator whose mission it is to find missing infants. She is investigating baby snatchers and corrupt adoptions which leads her to Texas where she meets Cooper. He doesn't believe that his friends the Harper's could be linked to anything shadey. Once he hears her story he and his friends want to help her find out who these dangerous people are. Will they find out who these dangerous people are? Will they find out who is responsible ? Will Marlee and Owen grow closer ? Are their lives in danger ? A must read by St Martin's Press and Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book.

“She was waging a one-woman war on the world of kidnapped babies and children.”
Looking For A Cowboy is a well written, fast-paced, and wonderful addition to the Heart of Texas series. A suspenseful read with a bit of romance. Well-developed and likeable characters. A tough subject matter but it adds to the intensity of the plot and makes the character who she is. Multiple layers which keeps your attention. Woven throughout is a good mix of investigation, romance, and dedication of family, and friends.

Note: This can be read completely as a stand-alone read and you will not be lost with not having read the prior books in the series (but if you like western romances, I recommend all of them).

It was fun to return to the Heart of Texas community for another installment. Grant creates a story that requires everyone we've met from previous books to help newcomer, Marlee. Cooper is both suspicious and concerned by Marlee's arrival and her interest in his friends but also immediately attracted to her. Such conflict!

Marlee's experience the unthinkable and now dedicates her life to saving children, their parents and loved ones from going through what she did or at least getting them answers so they can have closure. She's done this well and with minimal help. Now she finds not only Cooper is willing to help but everyone in his large group of friends wants to jump in. Can she trust these people? Can they really help? Is Cooper right that maybe it's time to seek help?

The story is well paced and has the right mix of suspense, wariness and even a family friend who turns out, unexpectedly, not to be what she appears.

This story deals with a dark subject realistically and well but offers enough heartwarming detail to keep the reader from becoming hopelessly depressed. In the end Marlee and Cooper get not only a happily every after but their new life brings new happiness to many around them.

Looking for a Cowboy is the 5th book in the Heart of Texas series written by Donna Grant. It is a romantic suspense novel about kidnapping, black market adoption, and gruesome ways in which they take the babies.

Marlee Frampton is a tough, determined and caring individual. An ex-cop turned private investigator after the tragedy she experienced when her twin sister was murdered. Her life mission is to bring kidnapped babies back to their families thus she is constantly on the move with hardly any downtime.

Cooper Owens is very loyal and protective. Despite Marlee’s belief that his friends could have taken part in a black market adoption, he is so sure of their innocence. He is also willing to help in any way he can to in order to put a stop to these hateful crimes.

While the relationship between Cooper and Marlee developed fast, it was believable and electric. From the moment they met, there was undeniable chemistry. Marlee was that key missing person in Cooper’s life. For Marlee, Cooper is someone who can take care of her when she always put other people first.

The plot of the story can be hard to read for some but it was a great romantic suspense novel. Donna Grant writes from various points of view, even from the villain’s perspective, which was quite interesting. While this is part of a series and the fifth book, I find that I didn’t need to know what happened previously to follow this story. However, after reading this novel, I am tempted to read the ones before this. I recommend this book for those who like a bit of mystery, suspense and romance.

All in all...
This is a very readable romance. With a hero and heroine that one can't help falling for.
Though not so much in the heart aflutter way.
As the these are two people who have been through life's proverbial ringer and still manage to have hearts of gold way.
Meaning that though parts of their story, (i.e. Cooper and squad being thrown headfirst into the middle of Marlee's case repeatedly.) Are admittedly very contrived.
After A while...
Which is mercifully quite shorter for the reader than the couple in question.
One finds A certain happy resignation in the fact that Cooper and Marlee are the only two souls fit for each other in the entire book.
In large part, because everyone in their vicinity and age bracket in paired off, and picking out rings and baby things.
But I digress.
After all, this is the fifth book in a loosely related small town series. Meaning that it has more than reached the point of having to import love interests.

Thankfully the baby-napping / mystery part of the book more than makes up for any flaws in the way of romance.
Making sure that is never quite sure whether the suspects are guilty or have truly been wrongfully targeted. Until the end.

All that having been said.
If you like A light hometown romance full of cowboys and capers. Donna Grant's Looking For A Cowboy, just might be the read for you.

This wasn’t just your typical romantic book but a story that dealt with a harsh reality our world is facing. The author brings this to our attention but still grow a little isn’t knit family with tons of love to go around. Marlee is tough but also open minded in her search to find her missing niece. Cooper loves his family and will do anything to protect them even though his feelings are growing toward Marlee. The two must work together to figure out what’s going on so hopefully they can really work on this growing chemistry. I received an ARC from St Martian Press via NetGalley. This review is honest and based solely on my own opinions.

Cooper Owens is intrigued and captivated by the new gal in town. He knows this mystery woman has an agenda and as part of the Harper extended family, Cooper is all about protecting those he loves. Cooper is suspicious but finds this woman compelling and someone he wants to get to know.
Marlee Frampton was a policewoman who became a PI after her sister was brutally murdered and her unborn baby taken. Marlee has been searching for ten long years not only for her missing niece, but other stolen babies as well. She has come to Clearview, Texas following a lead concerning a recently adopted baby who might be one of the abducted ones.

Marlee plays her cards close to her chest as she never really knows who to trust. For once though, she would like to have a man like Cooper in her life and not just be all about work. What Marlee does is quite risky since the people she chases have no compunction about killing. Cooper has a lot of skills learned in his military career which he wants to put to use helping Marlee find those responsible for this heinous crime as well get the taken babies back to their rightful parents.

Some of the POVS in this book are hard to take as they are from the perpetrators who think and talk openly about what they do and why. Stella, the ring leader, is presented as someone who seems almost normal except for the fact she and her cohorts commit horrific acts. This is such a dark and difficult subject that it overtakes the romance in many instances. Book five in the Heart of Texas series, Marlee and Cooper are likeable and compassionate characters with a noble cause; however, this subject matter which is obviously an important topic and impassioned topic is quite off putting for a book in this genre.

"Looking for a Cowboy" by Donna Grant
This is a nail-biting Romance Suspense story. The suspense deals with a reality that is just too horrid when it happens in real life to real people. And, not a whole lot better when read about in a work of fiction. The romance, well it is romance. I had a lot of difficulty reading about infant & child trafficking even as fiction. I read the description but was still not prepared for what I would read. Happy Reading ! !
Note: I received an ARC of this story from the publisher with the expectation I would post my honest review.

Yihaa! Another hot cowboy story from Donna Grant. Although the story can be read as a standalone, it is so much more fun to already know the other characters of Looking for a Cowboy. Cooper Owens is suspicious when gorgeous PI Marlee comes into Clearview to investigate a kidnapping. When she starts asking questions about the recently adopted boy of his friends Naomi and Brice Harper (Cowboy, Cross my heart) he is both offended as aroused.
Ever since Marlee lost her twinsister to a horrendous crime, where her niece was taken from her womb, she has been tracking down kidnapped children. She is used to working solo and she is suprised when the hot cowboy Cooper offers to help her. Even when she offended him by trying to use him to get information about the Harper family. Together with Danny (A Cowboy like You) and Caleb (My Favorite Cowboy) Cooper tries to help Marlee find the baby boy who went missing recently. But when they find out that there are a lot more kidnappings in the neighborhood, Cooper and Marlee may be onto something bigger. Even vore than they can handle without getting into danger. But Marlee will soon find out that Clearview cowboys will go to extremes to save their loved ones.
As a good Donna Grant novel, this one is of course fastpaced, funny, full of suspense, with sparks flying. Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc. Five out of five stars from me and awaiting the next hot cowboy from Donna!

A beautiful stranger has come to the town of Clearview, and on first glance Cooper is smitten. But when she starts asking questions about his best friends he is taken aback.
Marlee is a PI, and in town following a lead for a kidnapped baby, when she meets Cooper. And even though Marlee suspected his best friends of adopting a stolen baby, he wants to help her. And as they spend time together their chemistry heats up along with the case.
This is a superb read with gripping suspense. The crime is a little hard hitting and disturbing and that made me more involved in wanting to see the bad guys caught.
The romance side of it balances things out perfectly along with friends and family providing some light moments. And I really like how the friends rally around for each other when one of them has any problem. Suspense, twists and turns, and romance make it a hard to put down read that I can happily recommend.

I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, but I don’t think it was necessary to. I was expecting a basic romance, but this story is so much more. Marlee is a former cop turned PI who works hunting stolen babies. Her twin sister was murdered 10 years ago and her unborn baby was taken. She’s tracked another baby who was stolen the same way to Clearview, a small town in Texas. There she meets Cooper and his friends. They decide to help Marlee find the people who are responsible for the kidnappings and murders.

No spoilers from me, but I thought this was a great book. Now I want to go back and read the earlier books in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received this book for free through netgalley for an honest review. I haven't read any books in this series before but it didn't take away from the story. I loved both Cooper and Marlee and I thought they were perfect for each other. The crime of killing pregnant women and stealing their babies was a little intense to read about, but it still was good. I loved that there was mystery, romance, and friendship included in this book.
