This is my first Donna Grant book!!!
I've gotta say, love her writing style.
The characters, side characters, and town are charming and loveable as ever. The story grabs you and gets your attention from the start. I wanted to know how the story played out so bad, I read the book in one setting.
Way to go Donna Grant!
Cooper Owens has made a name for himself on the rodeo circuit for calf roping. He yearns to find his direction in life. Cooper believes he has found it with Marlee Frampton, yet the beautiful out-of-towner suspects his friend of a nefarious crime. He and his friends offer to help Marlee with her missing newborn case. Unfortunately, Cooper learns his hometown is right in the middle of an infant trafficking ring. Will Cooper’s military training help Marlee with her case? What other troubles will they find?
Marlee Frampton is a private investigato who specializes in missing children. Evidence leads her to a small town in Texas and to a particular family. When her lead is a bust, Marlee reluctantly turns to a certain green-eyed cowboy for help. She never imagined finding a man like Cooper. However, Marlee’s investigation takes a dangerous turn, and it not only jeopardizes her life but Cooper’s also. Will Marlee and Cooper finally bust the infant smuggling ring? Or will the case cost them more than just their lives?
Cooper is definitely a keeper! I have always liked him and Jace since their debut in COWBOY, CROSS MY HEART, book two in the series. I adore how Cooper respects Marlee’s privacy and guardedness. He never pressed or pressured her for any information she was not ready to give. What I love the most about Cooper is how he worries over Marlee’s wellbeing. He does not want her to burn herself out, especially in her line of work. Cooper convinces Marlee to take some down time.
Marlee is such an inspiring woman. She takes a traumatic event and turns it into a calling. I adore Marlee’s love for eighties music. She is a woman after my own heart since that is my music choice too. What I love the most about Marlee is her tenacity. She never once forgot about her niece, and she continues to search for her. Also, Marlee allows nothing to interfere in retrieving missing children or helping families to find closure.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is book five in Donna Grant’s cowboy-themed romantic suspense series, HEART OF TEXAS. I highly recommend reading this series in proper order to understand the characters’ deep bonds. I love how the couples from the previous four books play important roles throughout the story.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is a suspenseful tale about love finding two people when they least expect it. I do hope the author writes Jace’s happily-ever-after next. That man definitely deserves one.
Looking for a Cowboy by Donna Grant, published by St. Martin's Press, is book five in her Heart of Texas Series. Every book is about another couple and can easily be read as a stand-alone.
The previous bookjs are The Christmas Hero Cowboy; Cowboy, Cross my Heart; My Favorite Cowboy and A Cowboy Like You.
Meet Marlee and Cooper.
Marlee is working as police officer when her twin vanishes and later on shows up in a crime scene. Marlee never gave up looking for her niece and her mission is her whole life.
Cooper is a good guy who gets tangled in Marlee's investigation.
Looking for a Cowboy is a fast paced romance with thriller elements, a lot of suspense, an unputdownable pageturner. I loved everything about the book, 4,75 stars.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Anther hit for a very talented author. Can't wait to read more of her books. I highly recommend this author to everyone.
What a great book! Romance and suspense and a cowboy all the ingredients for a perfect read. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.
I LOVED this book. Cowboy romances are one of my guilty pleasures.
I have read all the previous books in the series so i was failiar with the world that these people live in. Whilst it could be read as a standalone, i would highly reommend that you read the previous 4 books.
Marlee is a private investigator and her job is to find missing children. There have been a string of women murdered whilst pregnant, their babies cut out of them never to be seen again. Marlee has been chasing the people doing it for over 10 years, ever since her twin sister was one of the women murdered.
She comes to clearwater chasing down a lead and bumps into Cooper. A local cowboy. There is an instant attraction with these 2, and Cooper and his friends help Marlee track down the perpetrators.
Cracking read. Love them all. Jace next please Donna!
Wow, so good!!! This series just keeps getting better and better as it goes. I was stunned & saddened by the storyline, it was shocking to learn of the depraved depths that people would go to, to get a child. Marlee was such a strong character & her determination to reunite as many kidnapped babies & children as possible with their families was admirable. The fact that her twin sister had been murdered for her baby was the catalyst that set Marlee on the path that led her to Cooper. Marlee’s investigations led her to Cooper’s best friend Brice & Naomi & their newly adopted son. Believing that the baby might be the kidnapped infant she was searching for she tries to use Cooper for information but ends up with a dead end. Anger at the thought of infants being ripped from their mother’s bodies brings Cooper, Jace, Brice & the rest of the family into the picture to help. With Cooper’s military background as well as Jace & everyone else’s they start their search for the people involved. I was truly surprised when we found out who was involved & how close to Marlee & her family they were. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Well done author Donna Grant.
And another one bites the dust! I love seeing all these honorable men finding the love of their lives. Every hero in this series has shown us what great men they are, and how they are all willing to help anyone who needs it. The fact they they are all Texas cowboys is just icing on the cake.
This was a bit of love at first site for Cooper which made me like his story more. I just love when a man just knows what he wants and goes for it. Marlee was way more hesitant but you can't blame her when all she sees is the worst in humanity through her job.
As always, the whole gang came together when the going got tough and proved why a great group of people they are. There were a few answers left unsolved so I really hope the author has plans to close them up in the next book. I've got my own ideas with how she could do that so I will be patiently waiting for the next book. Please let it be Jace's turn!
'Looking for a Cowboy' has an opening that hooked me right in with a tension that didn't let up throughout the book. This story is about nice people who are caught up in an unimaginable world of horror and heartbreak. It was gripping from start to finish, with a hint that Marlee's search wouldn't end and we could look forward to much more. I skillfully skipped over the graphic sex in order to otherwise completely enjoy this spectacular story. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the people of Clearview, Texas.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Looking For A Cowboy is a spectacular romantic suspense by Donna Grant. Ms. Grant has penned a book that is well-written and will have you clinging to the edge of your seat. Her crowning glory in this book though is the characters. These characters will make you smile, grit your teeth in anger and may milk your little tear ducts. When Marlee's pregnant sister was murdered and her unborn baby kidnapped, Marlee quits her job as a cop and starts her own investigation firm to return stolen babies to their parents. Cooper is at loose ends since leaving the military, since money is not a problem he spends his time helping his friends. Cooper and Marlee's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Donna Grant. Looking For A Cowboy is book 5 of the Heart of Texas Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Looking for a Cowboy is a love story with a thriller mystery in the backdrop as the lead character Marnie is an ex cop turned personal investigator.
It is a not completely focussed on the love story and I found the story, characters interesting, engrossing and refreshing.
Friendship, mystery, love, and a brave, crime fighting sleuth— this book has it all. The main character has spent her whole career fighting to save stolen babies, so it’s hard not to fall for this uptight edgy character in search of solving her sisters’ case. After showing up in a community with a tight-knit group of friends, she explores and starts closing in on the criminals. With such a great ending, this book will appeal to anyone wanting a happily ever after story.
Marlee Frampton PI is in search for justice.
She's looking for the justice her sister didn't find.
She is looking for a baby boy that was taken from his mother before she is murdered.
Cooper Owens looks out for his friends.
Good chemistry between Marlee and Cooper.
Marlee was a police officer until the murder of her sister when she decided she could do more good as a PI. Ten years after the murder she arrives in Texas searching for another stolen child. This brings her to Cooper with whom she has an immediate impact. They join forces and have to protect each other. A very gripping story.
This series is exciting and suspenseful. I always look forward to the next book. Donna has a way of keeping you enthralled.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me through NetGalley. This book was just absolutely wonderful. It was just so easy to get lost in and I just couldn’t put it down. I just lost myself within this amazing story. I most definitely will read more by this author.
Donna Grant clearly pulled out ALL of the stops with her gut-wrenching opening. Marlee lost her unborn niece the day her twin was murdered. The hounding nightmare of that night would put her on a path as a Private Investigator always on the hunt for shady adoption agencies that would feed off desperate couples and their need to have a baby of their own. When a lead brought her Clearview, she never realized that Fate could have found someone to share her heart, her soul and her desire for justice.
LOOKING FOR A COWBOY is a tale of brutal loss, a decades long search and love when one least expects it.
As heinous as the crimes are, these monsters must be stopped and until now it has been a lonely existence for Marlee until the handsome cowboy walked into her life and plugged the holes of pain that leaked like a sieve from her heart. I was honestly most impressed with the suspense, the romance felt too fast, too by the books for instant love and the passion fell flat for me as the scenes played out.
Don’t get me wrong, this IS a well written tale, just not what I was hoping for in the long run, although two very deserving people found their other half amidst all of the ugliness in the world. A pleasant way to spend your reading escape time, nothing over the top, but steady and predictable. A big plus in my book? You could read this without having read previous books in the series!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from St. Martin's Press! This is my honest and voluntary review.
After tragedy in her own life our intrepid heroine devoted herself to finding missing/stolen babies. An exciting thriller with a touch of romancr.
Marlee was a police officer a decade ago, but tragedy changed course of her job. Now she is PI, dedicated to find stolen babies. This bring her to Clearview, where she meets Cooper. He promised to help her, even if his friends will loose their newly adopted baby.
Someone else is looking at Marlee, that person, will make sure, she never finds people responsible for stealing babies.
I loved this story, from the first to the last page.
Marlee is a P.I. and her last clue has brought her to Clearview Texas. It doesn’t take long and she has Cooper and the whole gang helping her. The story is full of murder, suspense and romance. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading this book. I can’t wait for the next one.
