Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Loved this one! It was great to see more of Fable’s world and hear more of her past and that of the people around her.
Young does a fantastic job with putting you into the story with her descriptions and imagery.
I do wish that we had had more Fable and West moments, but that would be my only critique.
Adrienne Young can do no wrong. I love her writing. I love this world. And I adore these characters!
What an amazing coming of age sea-faring story. Emotional and action packed, Namesake was a great sequel! Beautiful characters, beautiful writing, Adrienne Young never disappoints!
Enjoyed the storyline. Duologies are hard to perfect and this was no exception. Young's writing style is fantastic however I felt that this installment of the series was a little lacking. The cover is stunning.
Namesake is a really great sequel to Fable.
Adrienne Young has taken the world she built in Fable and expanded it. All the seeds that were planted in the first book about Fable, her past, and her family come together in unexpected ways. There are divided loyalties, family drama, and plots and counter plots.
Young's world building is really well done. The world of the Narrows and the Unnamed Sea is vivid and immersive, and I was really swept up in the story.
I absolutely loved this follow up to Fable! This one was really exciting to read and I'm sad that Fable's story is over. Another fun story from Adrienne Young!
I loved this book so much. Adrienne Young's writing is always so good and done with such emotion. She has a way of making us care for every character whether they are main or side characters. I found myself not wanting to say goodbye to The Narrows and wanting the adventure to continue. This was a great duology.
Namesake is a beautiful wrap-up to an excellent YA duology. This has to be one of my favorite YA series to date. It's gorgeous inside and out. I love that Adrienne Young has quickly created an entire world with at least four books that wrap across multiple generations and characters. I'm curious to read Saint which covers the story of Fable's father as well as The Last Legacy. Excellent for fans of Pirates of the Caribbean and anyone who loves STRONG female characters.
I really enjoyed Fable, so picking this up was never in question. Especially after that cliffhanger!! This one absolutely needs to be read after Fable and cannot be read as a standalone.
Fable was a bit slower so this one had more action overall and liked it since we finally got to spend a bit more time with the characters. There is one notable new character, but they didn't feel like too late of an addition, which I have found when new characters are introduced too late.
Some of the big twists were pretty predictable, but this is still an enjoyable read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me a free advanced copy of this book to read and review.
A great story with a lot of heart. I love the main character and that the romance is there but doesn’t take center stage. Pacing is good and overall a very satisfying duology
Holy smokes - what a ride?! I read Fable and Namesake in less than 24hrs and reader, I am obsessed.
The story was engaging, and gripping and I couldn't guess just what was going to happen next. The pacing was fast where it needed to be, and slowed when merited. The inclusion of several characters from the first book was so well done, as well as the addition of new friends, and foes.
The writing is beautiful, the characters loveable. I can't wait tondive into Saint next.
Huge thanks to the publisher for granting me a copy of Namesake.
I put off reading this one for a bit as I didn’t fall in love with Fable as many others did. I like the setting and the characters are interesting enough, but the storylines are very predictable and the writing isn’t great. I think this is a case of the author’s writing not clicking for me, so will probably consider this my last book by this author.
These are not very good books. I read the first one and hoped maybe this would improve on it, but unfortunately it's more of the same. I dont see this being very popular with kids, either. It's a strange concept poorly executed.
I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

“We were made in the Narrows”
This book, much like the first installment, pulls you in to the story. The characters were well written & had so much life. I highly enjoyed this final book in this duology.
I love that the MC as well as the other characters had some growth with their own individual story lines, as the story was very plot driven. It was fast paced, and very exciting, some could say very swashbuckling :P
Fable gets to learn a lot more about herself as well as her mother as she sacrifices for those she loves. The political intrigue is on point, as different factions of trading companies and the like vie for domination.
I do highly recommend this series, especially if you like pirates and strong female leading characters.
Thanks to being backlogged with my TBR, I was able to read Namesake by Adrienne Young just after reading the first in the series, Fable. Both were excellent. I also cannot help but compliment the cover art. I loved how each cover was so beautiful on its own, but they also worked so well together.
This series is such a great YA fantasy series. The magic and the seafaring are blended with sweeping romance that ticks all of my favorite boxes.
I really enjoyed Fable and was super excited to pick this one up and see where the story would go. I was unfortunately not the biggest fan. I found Fable as a character to be annoying at times,. I loved her and West's relationship in the first book but felt no chemistry in this one. Although, I didn't enjoy the book as much as I would have liked I still thought the conclusion was good and ended up loving the side characters the most by the end!
A nice follow up to Fable. I enjoyed the characters and the plot kept me reading to find out what happened next and all the scheming and connections.
