I wish I'd had read an earlier book from this series because I probably would have understood the first few chapters much better. I don't think a reader necessarily needs to read the series, but it might be helpful.
This is a fun read for holidays, if you like the South, if you enjoy books with a magical, mysterious bent.
Full of likeable, quirky characters.
A great escape!

A trip across the state with her fellow PI and their respective others and a couple of friends turns from a holiday fun into a working vacation when a series of potential mishaps prompts a haughty local snob to hire the pair to investigate. A very interesting Southern mystery.
I requested and received a free ebook copy from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley.
It’s Christmas time and the gang has taken over a B&B for a relaxing and fulfilled week together. Unfortunately Sarah and Tinkie take on a case while there and the vacation turns not a working holiday. They soon find that the small, charming town of Columbus is a cess pool of cheating, lying and someone who seems to have it out for the group of grown up mean girls in town. Can the partners solve it before they head home for Christmas or will they be too late to save someone from being murdered?
This was the first book in this series that I have read and it was just fine as a stand alone, though I now want to go back and read the other books in the series. I always love when I find a book that I love and there are plenty of others in the series to binge on. A fun grown up cast of characters including single, married and couples that we can all relate to. I can’t wait to spend more time in the Delta with the gang.
Tinkie has arranged a holiday for her friends in Zinnia--they will stay at a charming B&B in Columbus, Mississippi. It's only a few weeks until Christmas, and there is a lot of shopping to be done, but they are sidetracked when bad things seem to be happening to some of the town's snobbish denizens. One of the particularly unpleasant women hires the Delaney Detective Agency to find out who is behind the "accidents." Can the intrepid team solve the case before they have to return home? Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to review this enjoyable holiday mystery with familiar characters.
Another great excursion with Sarah Booth and her friends had her traveling to Columbus, Mississippi for a vacation filled with shopping and holiday spirits. That is interrupted when nefarious misdeeds started happening around them and one of the locals ask the Delaney Detective Agency to search for the person behind it all. As expected with fine writing, the author does a magnificent job in staging this drama with a wickedly solid and tightly woven plot that kept me immersed in what was going on from beginning to an ending worthy of such talent. The narrative, the engaging dialogue, the setting, the local atmosphere and of course this endearing cast of characters all added to my enjoyment of this Christmas tale. This book oozes Southern charm and hospitality that you forget that murder and mayhem is afoot. A delightfully enticing whodunit that have me begging for more Sarah Booth adventures.
Fans of this series will be thrilled with this latest offering.
I strongly suggest you read the previous books in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
There's never a dull moment when Sarah Booth and Tinkle are together. Although the friend and their significant others are supposed to be on a vacation in Columbus, Mississippi, they suddenly become embroiled in a case. When a series of incidents occur around them, including a load of concrete being dumped on a new car, one of the locals decide to hire Delaney Detective Agency to find out how is behind the incidents. Although Sarah Booth is not fond of her client Queen Bee and principal homewrecker Clarissa Olson, holds her nose and takes the case. As more dangerous incidents pile up, Tinkie and Sarah Booth wonder if their client might be behind the troubles. With the assistance of her hunky beau Coleman Peters, the friends wade through the murky goings on in town and solve the case.
