Heartwarming, light-hearted and amusing. This was a super cute rom com that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This one is one I'd recommend to friends who don't typically read romance because they shy away from the steamy parts. There was cute banter between the characters. Usually I don't enjoy children in rom coms because it can be a little cheesy but I do feel as if the daughter added another element to the story. Overall, a book I would recommend for someone in the mood for a fun light read.

Happy Singles Day!

I loved the idea of this book. From the beginning I was hooked. I loved all of the characters, the setting of the story, what the MC had for a job, just everything fit so nicely in the story and it felt so natural together.

This is all I want in a rom com. Fun and witty banter, great characters, a fun story that we get taken along the ride for, and just overall good feelings. And this book definitely gave me what I craved. I didn't expect the story to be what it was from the get-go but I love how it turned out to be. Let me just say, Samuel is just a genius character, I laughed every time he was in a scene.

One thing about the book that I noticed right from the beginning was the fact that the whole aura of the novel resembled a Nicholas Sparks novel. Now, I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and all the books he writes, but lets face it, they're not rom coms with happy ending all the time. (Sorry for the Nicholas Sparks spoilers, but if you've seen the movies you should know by now!). This book was the literal representation of what would be a Nicholas Sparks book if it was a rom com, and I love that. It was so fun to experience that.

I'll definitely want to read this every Singles Appreciation Day (aka S.A.D)!

An island fantasy with a Ryan Reynolds look alike as your beachfront innkeeper. The Holiday (Cameron and Jude Law's storyline) Add some TMNT puppies and f.r.i.e.n.d.s references on a North Carolina island. Yes, thank you!!!

Paige Parker is a career driven woman who doesn't believe in love and HEA. Her assistant convinces her to take a vacation to celebrate Single's Awareness Day to prove that being single doesn't have to be SAD.
She arrives at the Copper Lantern Inn and meets Lucas Croft. He's a shirtless Ryan reynolds lookalike and when he takes one look at her a scowl forms on his face. Paige and the surly inn owner get off on the wrong foot. Wrong Everything.
But circumstances keep them at the inn and they start to get to know each other.

Writing Style 5 Stars
The whole book was easy to read and I really liked the pace and direction of the story. It was also super funny and super relatable.
Plot 5 Stars
Loved the whole concept. I might be biased because it reminded me of The Holiday (my favorite holiday movie). The setting takes place at a North Carolina island and it makes me want to go there!
Character Likability 5 Stars
Paige is a jaded city girl, but you can tell she has so much heart. Lucas is numbed from losing his wife, but underneath it all, he has so much love that he needed to find someone to give it to. The secondary characters were also super great! His daughter(so cute), his sister(super supportive), her assitant/bestie(supportive and pushes her for the better).
Smut 3 Stars
This is the only thing about the book that I wanted more of. But that's my personal preference!
It was super steamy (both of the main characters haven't gotten any in a while, and whew, they were such horndogs!!) without being SMUTTY.
Overall 5 Stars!
I'm definitely going to pick up a physical copy of this book!!

Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker

Loved this one! It was exactly what I hoped for when I started reading... fun, romantic, and lighthearted!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What I loved about this one...

•The main character, Paige - she’s a bad a$$ business woman, who is independent and creative! And she owns a business organizing peoples homes/lives - which is pretty much my dream job! 😂 I loooove a good basket and label maker. Paige has gone through some sh*t in her past relationships and she’s closed off to men now, but of course we see her open up throughout the story!

•Super easy to read, short chapters that I could read in between other things! Working from home feels ‘never ending’ to me some days, so I sometimes read a few pages between meetings when I can, just to refresh my brain and this book was perfect for that. It’s also good for when I’m reading falling asleep but reaaaaalllly want to finish the chapter first 😂 (anyone else like that?!).

Overall, this book is a cute romance story that left me feeling happy and hopeful every time I read it! 💖

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced readers copy! Pub date is Jan 19.. right around the corner!! Set your calendars folks! 📆 😊

Enemies to lovers that has a grumpy hero with a heart of gold is my favorite. Paige is a workaholic that is happy being single, thank you very much. So when her assistant tells her that she needs a break she is hesitant to actually take one, until she finds this charming bed and breakfast on the Carolina coast that looks like the perfect place for her to celebrate Singles Day.
Lucas hasn't had anyone at his B&B since his wife died and he let the place fall apart so when his sister tells him she reacitvated the listing and he has someone coming this week, he is scrambling. When Paige shows up she is all sass and a big city pain in the you know what, but she instantly sparks something in him he hasn't felt for a long time. Paige tries to leave immediately, she doesn't want to stay in this place she is clearly not wanted, but a storm forces her to stay put on the island.
As the week rolls on they learn more and more about each other and break down walls neither of them thought could be penetrated again. This is a story about a second chance at life and at love.
I enjoyed this light read, even though the topics were heavy, the author made them feel light. That can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your mood I think. For some reason I was craving a litle more angst this time so it sat at about a 3.5 stars for me.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Netgalley and Ann Marie Walker for an early copy.

3 stars to this charming, heartwarming, cute read! Paige is a professional organizer who decides to go on her first vacation in 5 years at a cozy, seaside inn. Lucas is the innkeeper, a handsome, grumpy single dad to an adorable 5 year old daughter. Both Paige and Lucas are grieving losses from their past and hesitant to develop feelings for someone new. During Paige’s visit, the two bond over a series of events and love blossoms. I wish all the characters had been more developed and that I could feel more chemistry between the two romantic leads. Overall, a wholesome, quick, fun read!

Paige Parker is a professional organizer. She is a focused entrepreneur who doesn't want to change her life for a man. One day, while browsing the internet, she does something unexpected,... She books a one week vacation to celebrate Singles Day. Paige heads to a small coastal town to a B&B that looks nothing like the pictures. The innkeeper, Lucas Croft is attractive, but grumpy. He's a recent widow with a young daughter and is definitely not looking for a relationship. A big storm and a week together with just the two of them helps them both discover what they might have been missing...

This was an enemy to lovers kind of story. It was a cute and easy read. Paige and Lucas are super cute together. They both have some serious baggage but I enjoyed reading about them working through it together. I liked that Lucas had a daughter; it makes it a bit of a different take and isn't what you would typically read. I also liked that Paige is a strong woman and entrepreneur; she isn't a damsel in distress by any means.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a quick and easy chick lit read.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the eGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was my first Ann Marie Walker book, and I enjoyed it! I almost gave this book three stars, but the epilogue was the reason why I kicked it up a star.

The relationship between Paige and Lucas was cute, and almost immediately, you could feel the connection that the couple had. Of course after they got over the whole thunderstorm, and the fact that Lucas's sister misrepresented the inn.

A book featured on the North Carolina coast (where I am from), and consistent Friends references? Count me in! That, tangled with the couple's relationship, and I was instantly drawn in.

The one thing that I found lacking from this novel was the steam. Paige and Lucas clearly have that connection, so why not tell us the readers!! Just when you think you can finally read about their connection...the chapter ENDS! Holy blue balls!

Don't worry though, I would still read Walker's other novels in the future. But, I won't hold out for any steamy scenes to appear!

3.5 Sweet Stars

What an adorable, easy read! Romance lovers will adore this sweet and heartwarming story. The Outer Banks, a handsome grumpy hero and a successful heroine. What's not to like? Full disclosure: there are no graphic scenes here, only some sexy talk and and a handsome hero.

Paige is a successful business owner who has no time for romance in her life. And Lucas is the owner of a North Carolina bed-and-breakfast who...has no room in his life for romance! The owner of The Copper Lantern Inn, he also a widower and the single father of a young daughter. His inn is run-down and could certainly use a dose of Paige's organizing skills.

There is very smart and funny banter, some very touching scenes, and an overall modern and contemporary romance vibe to this book. I loved Lucas! The author certainly knows how to create a swoony, sexy and sensitive male lead. I loved how independent Paige was, and her friendship with her assistant and best friend Sammy.

This book is a fun, touching and romantic read. It is the perfect antidote to our stressful times.
(And that cover! Love it.) There is a beautiful ending to this book that will please any romance lover. Happy reading!

I loved Happy Singles Day! It was such a cute romance. The story was great with just the right amount of ups and downs. Paige is someone I could be friends with! I like to organize and I need order 😆.

The only issue I had was the tease of steam and then cut to black. They were constantly sexing each other up in their minds but then when it came time to get to it we readers get nothing. I'm fine with no steam but don't tease me like that! 😄.

Not only was it a great romance but it was also a great story about loss and moving on. Very well written with great characters.

Paige is a professional organizer who has built her own business after finding her fiancé in bed with her boss. She’s a work horse who’s never taken a vacation and her assistant, Sammy (who is hilarious btw), insists she take a very much needed vacation. After taking a quiz to find the “perfect destination for a Singles Day vacation,” she books a stay at a B & B on a small island of the coast of North Carolina.
Other than being Ryan Reynolds’ doppelgänger, Lucas is trying to manage life as a single father, after his wife tragically passes away. The B & B he bought with his late wife is falling further and further into disrepair. With no money coming in from bookings, he’s in danger of losing it, until his meddling sister reactivates the listing for a room. The room which Paige just booked.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a very sweet story about two people finding the piece they’ve been missing in another person. It was a fast and easy read; very light. The enemies to lovers part doesn’t last very long, once Paige sees where Lucas is coming from and he realizes he was a jerk at their first meeting. There are many adorable moments with his daughter, Maddie, and with some furry friends we meet along the way. I will point out that this is very closed door, especially since there is build up to it.If I hadn’t known this going into it, I may have been disappointed a bit. There’s a definite build up to sex, and it’s definitely sexy at times, but we never “see” the sex. That was really the only issue I had with it and there isn’t much conflict. I did have a slight eye roll at how she ended up at that B & B. If you’re taking a vacation quiz online, a tiny B & B in the middle of almost nowhere isn’t going to show up, but I get it and let it slide.
Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Ann Marie Walker for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute read!

I’ve been loving books where a woman (or man) are trying to figure out their lives and this was it. Paige is a workaholic and goes on a vacation to relax. However, when she gets there it isn’t what she expected.

You meet Lucas, who at first is rude and doesn’t like Paige. However, you do grow to like him a lot! He has a precious daughter who warms your heart (single dads are always a YES).

I wish there was more steam... there wasn’t much. Or not the level of steam I wanted.

Overall it was an enjoyable book!

This book was so cute. It had the perfect blend of rom-com and steam mixed with serious topics. Lucas and Paige complimented each other so well and I felt had such a good balance between them. The real star of the show for me was Maddie. That little girl stole my heart, she’s the most precious. The ending was done really well to me and avoided the overly cliche ending. I would definitely read another story about Lucas, Paige, and Maddie.

As someone who is very single, the title of this book made me hesitate. I was afraid it was going to be cheesy. Holy Moly was I wrong. Yes, it was slightly cheesy, but it all the best Hallmark movieish ways. I loved Paige and Lucas and omg was Maddie hilarious. My only complaint was that for all the sexual buildup, this was a closed door book. We need more steam!

I am SO glad I discovered this book by accident on Netgalley because it has not, from what I've seen, received the hype that it deserves. I loved it! It was everything I love in a romantic comedy, most importantly: hilarious. I snort-laughed SO many times while reading. But it was also romantic and sexy (although the actual sex was off-the-page) and had just enough depth to keep it from being fluffy. The main characters Paige, Lucas, and Maddie were entirely lovable from start to finish.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC! This review is based on my honest opinion only.

Paige has been single since the day she found out that her fiancé, had been cheating behind her back. She becomes workaholic spending more time at work than spending time alone. So then Sammy, her assistant arranges an inn they come across from a website to spend the "Singles Day", Paige reluctantly agrees and leaves her busy life style in Chicago to a place in North Carolina and you have to reach to inn by a ferry. Lucas is a single dad with a five year old Maddie and his sister Sophie had asked Lucas to tend to their inn as she said there would be a guest soon. Paige and Lucas meet and they got on the wrong foot initially at first but then a storm prevents Paige from leaving and soon, they started getting to know each other, thus celebrating Singles Day.

I really like the concept of the story--normally when it comes to romance novels, it will be based on Valentine's Day so this concept of the story is good. However, there were some parts in the story that was a bit boring but other than that, it was actually a cheesy romantic story fun to read with some comic scenes in the book. Worth four stars in my opinion!

Happy singles day was a quick romance story that many will enjoy. I liked the characters and the settings and many times i felt like day dreaming the place because i love a coast small town.
Probably the most enthusiastic fact that i loved in this book was the real feeling of an adult woman that is in her thirties and doesn't have or want to change just because she meets a nice guy that fits more to her personality.
And i love Lucas so much, a wounded hero that is trying his best to be better and doesn't have big expectations from the world after his was shattered.
What i didn't like? Closed door intimacy, because damn, all that pent up steam and chemistry deserved an open door view.

Beautiful slow burn romance with a great banter and two characters that grew so much on me.

This book wasn’t really that memorable for me. Not much really happened and despite the title, it didn’t really focus on being single or appreciating that.

DNF @ 25%. Even as someone who watches a lot of Hallmark Christmas movies, I couldn't get through this--it relies heavily on stereotypes of plus-size women, misogynistic men, and homosexuality (if I had to be reminded ONE MORE TIME that Paige's assistant is gay...). It's marketed as an "opposites attract" romance, but Lucas is so cruel and Paige is so hyper-organized (and that seems to be her only trait?) that I had zero interest in either of them.

It might appeal to some, but it definitely is not for me.

Sad to give this book a low rating. I read the author's Black Tie Optional and thoroughly enjoyed it, And while the premise of this book sounded exciting (yay for all the single and happy folx out there!) the story itself rubbed me the wrong way from the start with a misogynist comments of the hero. But I though, hmm maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. So I persisted, but the two main characters just aren't hitting it off.
