Not overly steamy but there was some romantic scenes that made your heart flutter.
River was funny and Easton was protective.
Very outdoorsy and makes you want to find your own quiet mountain man

The heroine, River, eager to start her directing career, accepts a job to film a documentary about Moose Springs. If you've read any of the other books in this series, you would know that the townspeople of Moose Springs hate outsiders, and they don't cooperate with River to get her filming permits and the like. Realizing that there would be no filming going on in Moose Springs, River decides to film her and her team's climb up the nearby Mount Veil. Easton, who you may remember as the grumpy giant from the previous books, will be River and her crew's guide on the climb.

Before and during the climb, Easton emphasizes time and time again what to do and what not to do. He's there to make sure they make it down the mountain all alive, and he's understandably strict with the entire crew. This is the part that frustrates me - during the climb, River makes terrible decisions that jeopardizes her life, as well as Easton's life. I get it, I really do. She's desperate to be seen as a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, and I understand her drive to get the best shots for her film, but really, at the expense of her life? Of Easton's life? I spent the last third of the book so frustrated at River, and while Easton is kin with her desire, being a climber himself, I'm not. It's difficult to root for a character so callous of her life, and someone else's.

I do think that the book does a good job of developing River and Easton's relationship in such a short span of time, and I feel like the absence of the townspeople shifted the focus on both characters getting to know each other very deeply very quickly. I also think that the climb up Mount Veil was written very well.

All in all, I would say that Enjoy the View is the most well-written book of the series so far, and I enjoyed seeing a different view of Moose Springs, so to speak. I just found it difficult to relate and connect with River, and weeks after finishing the book, I still don't agree with what she did to set off the chain of dangerous events up the mountain, and I feel like she got off easy despite her stubbornness.

Enjoy the View is a sweet romance featuring a starlet, River Lane, trying to prove herself behind the camera as a documentary director and local rugged mountaineering guide, Easton Lockett. Just like the first two books in the Moose Lake series the writing is a humorous mix of flirtation, self growth, family and blooming romance with a smitten marmot thrown in the mix, all set in the remote town of Moose Springs Alaska. Tourists are tolerated, yet necessary to the town’s growth and River has been hired to create a documentary showcasing the area. As the townsfolk refuse to allow filming in town, River decides her film will revolve around the nearby mountain and Easton will serve as her crew’s guide. They are tested by the harsh elements of nature, dangers of human error while climbing and the crew’s own goals of getting the right shot with their cameras. Easton and River feel the strong pull of the high of mountain climbing and have a steamy chemistry that stays mostly ‘behind the door’ or in this case tent flap. Overall, a light hearted feel good romance with a happy ending and just enough danger and adventure.

I just want to share the blurb again briefly:

“Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.“

This implies to me that I’d actually get a chance to read about this picturesque small town, but honestly other than 2 locations in it - it just wasn’t there. The locals themselves weren’t even all that quirky or likeable.

I didn’t really like the main character of this book - I couldn’t understand why the main characters were so suddenly attracted to each other and it seemed a bit too intense, too quickly when the only thing they had in common was climbing.

Maybe I just couldn’t get into this book, maybe I feel a bit conned by the blurb - but it just doesn’t feel to me like what was advertised. I didn’t finish.

A fun romance! I am not interested at all in mountain climbing, but the story was still engaging! The characters were fun and I was able to follow along easily despite not having read the previous two books in the series. I enjoyed the read and we have customers who will as well!

Enjoy the View for me was how Easton felt about River, like a shot of fireball whiskey, "sweet and smooth but spicy and strong as hell" (Sarah Morgenthaler, pg. 106). This book consumed me, it had me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. The connection Easton and River shared, fuelled my love for this story. River being such a strong and independent women, career oriented and determined to find herself while making a documentary on the top of a mountain was beautifully portrayed. Watching the love story unfold between Easton and River was fiery and magical unlike the cold wind and snow conditions they were facing up on the mountain. With Easton's love and protectiveness for River, the two characters journey together was cinematic. This book was filled with love, passion, friendship, bravery, fear, leadership and teamwork, and I think the story encompassed all aspects beautifully. This story has left a lasting mark on my heart and has left me wishing I could watch the final cut of the documentary, with a shot of Fireball Whiskey. Cheers!

Hollywood actress turned director River is in Moose Springs with her film crew. After being thrown out of Moose Springs and told they’re not allowed to film, they come up with a new plan...they’re going to climb Mount Veil. Little does mountaineer Easton Lockett know, he’s going to be leading the strong willed actress up the mountain. As torturous conditions occur, the crew worries if they will be able to reach the summit & create the documentary needed to further their careers?

I’ve climbed Mount Monadnock (for you NH-ites!) and boy was it rough!! I can’t imagine what River, Easton and the crew felt especially with rough terrain and all the gear.

As other reviews have said, this one is very different from the other two books. We don’t see much of the previous characters, and the main characters spend most of the book on the mountain. Even so, it’s really good & I loved River and Easton’s adventure!

The book is about River and Easton. River is an actress turned director for a documentary about the small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. Easton is a local mountain climber guide that gets assigned to River’s crew to help them climb Mount Veil. His job is to get them up and down in one piece, hers is to film the documentary and prove she’s more than a pretty actress.
This was my first Sarah Morgenthaler, so I didn’t know what to expect. Her books are all over bookstagram, so my expectations were high, and I ended up really enjoying it! There was constant flirting and banter from the start, which kept me laughing and entertained the whole book. There was adventure, since they were climbing a mountain, so that was a little unexpected from a romance. I loved the little side character that became a love triangle by the way of a marmot, it was hilarious! I’m excited to read her first two books in the series soon!

This was a cute one! It had depth and I can't decide if I liked it more than the first book or not. The entire series is great and I sincerely hope it continues!!

As a former climber in a younger life, I really enjoyed the adventure part of this book. Morgenthaler was able to aptly describe it thrill, joy, and peace a climber feels when facing and conquering a rock wall. And the description of their Mount Veil climb was truly gripping for me.

However, the adventure isn’t the main purpose of this novel. This is actually a romance between an Alaskan mountain man and a has-been Hollywood starlet. And here is where I struggled with the book.

Easton, the mountain man, is delightful and perfect as the male main character. He makes the story worth reading. His female counterpart, River the starlet, is not delightful at all. She is selfish, stubborn, and reckless with her own and other’s lives. To me, River is a completely unlikeable character, which makes it difficult to buy into the idea of a relationship between her and Easton.

I think most readers will struggle with River. However, the adventure, Easton and the other Alaskan characters are strong enough to grab one’s interest and hold it to the end.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoy the View takes us back to Moose Springs, Alaska, as we climb up Mount Veil, a beautiful, temperamental peak, with Easton and River. Although we don’t have any rampaging moose in this installment, we do meet an adorable, inquisitive marmot...which of course I now want for a pet.

Morgenthaler’s writing is delightful, and I found myself actually snorting with laughter. I loved the chemistry between River and her mountain man. I’m not usually a fan of instant attraction but it worked for me.

Every time I pick up this series, I want to go back to Alaska. If you’ve been, even once, you know how it gets under your skin and into your soul. Its wild and free and utterly breathtaking.

Thank you to Netgalley & Sarah Morgenthaler for my copy of Enjoy the View, for an honest review. The 3rd installment of Moose Springs, Alaska) didn’t disappoint. Each book gets better and better. I love knowing about the town and the residents of it. This book is the third book but can be read as a stand alone. Hollywood actress River Lane, come to Moose Springs, to film a documentary on the town. Her film crew gets the cold shoulder from the minute they get into town. Easton Lockett, a local, happens to meet River and things start to heat up. Easton, goes out on a limb to help River and the crew, against his sister and his friends discouragement. Her ideas for the documentary gal to pieces because of the towns refusal to cooperate. Mount Vail though, can be filmed and River gets an idea. River and Easton come up with a plan to get the documentary done.. how does this work out? Is love found on the mountain? Is it even safe to pull off this idea.. read on if you want the answers. I really enjoyed this book. The characters and story were cute. I have come to really like the way Sarah Morgenthaler writes. This was a four star book for me. I have recommended it on my Instagram and shared my reviews on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I think you will really enjoy the town of Moose Springs.

3.5/5

This series is so much fun. Enjoy the View has a grumpy mountain climber taking a group of film makers, including a Hollywood starlet, up a treacherous mountain and of course romance and danger ensue, as well as marmots (aren't you intrigued to find out more??). A fun and fast read with just the right amount of heart, humour, and small town charm. I personally wasn't a huge fan of all the climbing scenes which is why I didn't rate this as high as the previous books in this series, but I still really enjoyed it and will be reading more by this author!

4 stars for The Tourist Attraction, 3 stars for Mistletoe and Mr. Right and a comeback with 4 stars for Enjoy the View.

I think Enjoy the View was my favorite of the three. I was interested to see Easton's story, he's an intriguing character, and honestly, I'm ready to head to Alaska to find my own burly, man bun toting mountain man...don't tell my husband. Easton was my favorite of the men in this series. He's so sweet and skilled and for once we get a man who is willing to go where the woman is to be with her.

I did also like River, the feisty redheaded love interest. I love main characters with red hair who are stubborn and sassy - I may be a bit biased. Despite liking this about her, River also really frustrated me. She was stubborn beyond reason and this stubbornness put lives at risk because she refused to listen to the professional. To top that off, she then had the nerve to get mad at someone else's actions to save her stupid ass. Which, if I'm being honest is very much a redhead thing to do, but there's a time and place to be stubborn.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book.

Okay...off to break the news of my new man bun obsession to the hubs.

Returning to Moose Springs, alaska is always a fun time and when the main male lead is a grump I AM HERE FOR IT!! We met Easton back in the first book and he is the quiet guy who doesn't have a lot to say. While driving home he sees a woman on the side of the road pulling a suitcase behind here, doing the right thing Easton pulls over to help but instead gets yelled out for ruining her shot. I loved the first meeting between Easton and River, who is an actress turned producer and doing a documentary on Moose Springs. Since the town is blocking any filming , River hires Easton to take her and her camera crew up Mount Veil. I loved the parts of the story that deals with climbing the mountain and how it helped the relationship between the two grow. My only complaint about the book was that at times I found River's character to be overly stubborn, because she is an accomplished climber she doesn't take all of Easton's warnings seriously and it really frustrated me. This series is one of my favorites and I am so glad we get another book about Easton's Twin Ashtyn! Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my gifted copy for review!!!

The last couple of chapters of this book gave me all the cute Moose Springs moments I was looking for. I loved the ending for this couple. But, I had a real problem with the rest of it. This 3 star is more like, "I was going to give it two but the end left me happy", which at the end of the day, is really all I'm looking for.

The heroine in this book, River, is 1000% my least favorite type of heroine. She's driven and looking to succeed, she's strong and knows what she can do, all things I love. But, she's also the type of person that thinks she can do anything and knows better than the professionals telling her that maybe she doesn't know everything. She's this way to the point of recklessness. At several points in this book she causes some kind of problem because she refuses to follow instructions. And, like, cool, you're a skilled climber, awesome. But, that doesn't mean that when the person that does this for a living tells you you shouldn't do something, you get to just ignore it.

This is definitely a "it's not you, it's me" situation. This particular character trait is one I cannot get over.

I haven't even talked about the hero or the plot of this book. That's how mad I spent a lot of my time reading this book. I think I'm just gonna walk away now before I change that rating to a two. But, hey, if you like cute mountain men, weird but funny animal encounters, and River's character traits don't make you ragey, please go ahead and read this book.

Let's just call this a 2.75 star and walk away.

I've been having so much fun reading Sarah Morgenthaler's Moose Springs series. I liked Mistletoe and Mr. Right, the second book, a bit more than The Tourist Attraction, the first, and I liked Enjoy the View a bit more than that! I don't know if it's because I'm loving the town more the more I read about it or there was something about Easton and River's story that really drew me in. No matter the reason, I enjoyed reading it!

Here's the synopsis:
A grouchy mountaineer, a Hollywood starlet
And miles of untamed wilderness...
What could possibly go wrong?

Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.
Or what (literal) mountain she has to climb.
Easton Lockett may be a gentle giant, but he knows a thing or two about survival. If he can keep everyone in line, he should be able to get River and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece. Turns out that's a big if. The wildlife's wilder than usual, the camera crew's determined to wander off a cliff, and the gorgeous actress is fearless. Falling for River only makes Easton's job tougher, but there's only so long he can hold out against her brilliant smile. When bad weather strikes, putting everyone at risk, it'll take all of Easton's skill to get them back home safely...and convince River she should stay in his arms for good.

As usual, I was both frustrated and understanding of how the residents of Moose Springs were treating River. They need the tourists to be able to stay financially viable but they also want absolutely nothing to do with them. So, they treat River pretty terribly. She, like I, can't quite understand why they don't want their town overrun with tourists so her enthusiasm rubs them all the wrong way. I don't think they need to be assholes though and I felt the same as I did when Lana was butting heads with the entire town as well. And there's even a quick scene with Zoey, the heroine from the first book, is "othered" and treated like an out of towner. Graham may be head over heels in love with her but it's like it physically pains and sickens him that she didn't grow up there. It's the strangest thing.

I've never had the urge to climb mountains. I could barely get my spindly arms to cooperate during rock climbing week in gym class during high school. (I haven't tried it as an adult but since I seem to have developed a fear of heights, I figure I probably shouldn't give it a go.) But. That doesn't mean that I was uninterested in the story as Easton, River, and her team climbed Mount Veil. (Which, as I'm realizing as I'm writing this...doesn't actually exist.) The mountain climbing took up a longer portion of the book than I expected (and maybe a touch too long and technical) and there was a lot of drama. Like absolutely terrifying and I-was-afraid-for-their-lives kind of drama. It added to the suspense of the building romance between River and Easton. It was like climbing the mountain was a giant, long foreplay session. And that was not a bad thing! I remembered that Morgenthaler keeps everything other than kissing behind very closed doors so I liked that the pair flirted and teased each other. It was so fun and sweet to read.

Speaking of love stories. There's a marmot that follows Easton and the group when they're climbing the mountain. It is the most ridiculous thing but I absolutely adored it. Because why not have a rodent fall in love with a tall, bearded mountain man. Honestly, I can't explain how hilarious and adorable it was.

Even though the Moose Springs series hasn't WOW-ed me, I've been having a lot of fun reading Sarah Morgenthaler's novels. Enjoy the View has been my favourite so far and I definitely recommend reading it (and the rest of the books) if you want to armchair travel to Alaska. They're funny and sweet and the small town feel is so great to read (especially for this small town girl). I do hope there will be another book - I want to see Ash, Easton's twin sister, get her love story too!

This book took a bit for me to get into it but once I hit about halfway I couldn't put it down.

River wasn't exactly the most likeable character but after getting to know her and her struggle, she grew on me. There was a few moments where she annoyed me a bit but Easton brought it back. It was so great to see him take centerstage after the last two books in the series. It was also fun to see some of the characters we'd met earlier in the series.

Title: Enjoy The View
Author: Sarah Morgenthaler
Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca
@sourcebookscasa

‘Enjoy The View’ is the third book in the Moose Spring series that I’ve read by this author. The first book is The Tourist Attraction and the second book is Mistletoe and Mr. Right. However, in my opinion, this book was drastically different. It was missing the silly and playful storylines the other two had and had a much more serious tone.

River Lane (🙄) is a former Hollywood darling, but now her career is in a downward swing. Determined to revive things, she agrees to film a documentary in the small picturesque town of Moose Springs. The assignment should be easy, but unfortunately the town wants nothing to do with her. Well, River doesn’t give up that easily. Determined, she hires mountaineer, Easton Locket, to get her and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Barely. I honestly couldn’t stand River’s character. And I didn’t think her and Easton had great chemistry. The Alaska wilderness and mountain climbing is freaking dangerous, so this was all kind of out there for me. This book was missing all of the usual town secondary characters we’ve grown to love. I’ve read three books by this author and think she is talented, but desperately needs help with editing. For this genre, I find her books to be way too long with too much unnecessary dialogue.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for honoring my request to read and review this title. Today is publication day for this title if you are interested in picking yourself up a copy and traveling to Alaska! 😉
