I am usually not one for audiobooks and they take me quite some time to get through. This was actually the first audiobook that I liked! I think the third narrator really made it worthwhile for me - it was so creepy to hear that it added to much suspense and really set the mood. This was also my first Feeney book and I thought the unpredictability of it was brilliant. I was a little thrown by the mention of animal cruelty (that was extremely uncomfortable) and I thought there was a significant portion of the book that was very slow and seemed like filler but overall I enjoyed it. I will definitely be adding this author to my "to read" list!

This is the type of book I have been looking for. I love the characters, the mysterious in the plot, gets you thinking what will happen next? The audiobook was a bit confusing at a point though, but I still enjoyed it.

Alice Feeney takes you on a wild ride of his & hers perspectives in this psychological thriller. Personally I love it when a story is narrated by different people as the characters & this one was no exception. Anna has everything she ever wanted until one day when it all comes crashing down. As a news corespondent, she begins to cover a story of a murder that her ex-husband is investigating. As Anna & Jack dive deeper in to the story, there are more murders and mystery. I honestly loved this story because I could not figure out what was going to happen next & the ending was one that I would have never expected. I love the feeling of being on the edge of my seat until a book ends!

A story of 2 sides. Anna, news journalist and Jack, police detective and ex-husband tell their sides as a killer is on the loose and a bit too close for comfort.
Great book, first time listening to an audible version which took a bit of time to get into it and the choice of narrator.

I had the absolute hardest time listening to this on audiobook.

Did not finish, but hoping to catch the print version and read through the storyline.

"His" is DCI Jack Harper who is looking into the murder of a respected local woman... that he just happens to have a secret relationship with.
"Her" is Anna Andrews who is called to report on the murder. And also has a connection to the village and the murder victim.
Told through alternating POVs, plus a third POV of the murderer (which is super creepy) this was a wild ride with unreliable narrators and a crazy twisted story. It was easy to read and had me guessing the entire time!

Recommended for fans of Girl on the Train or Woman in the Window as it had that feel for me (especially with all the alcohol the "her" narrator drinks!)

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a free audiobook in return for an honest review.

The audio narration is fantastically done by Richard Armitage (who many will know from The Stranger TV show and The Hobbit movies) and Stephanie Racine. The murderer is narrated using a voice modulator and is incredibly off-putting and perfect.

Alice Feeny's newest novel is an intense, quick read—quick, because unlike my usual tendency to read multiple books at a time, there was no putting this one down once I started.

The back and forth, his-and-her narrative, between sorrow-ridden BBC reporter Anna and her barely coping ex, detective Jack, is so well done. Plus, to make it even better, the author has interspersed musings from the killer, whose creepily-altered voice does nothing to help you guess their identity. All in all, His & Hers adds up to a page-turner which, if you’re like me, will not only leave you guessing right up until the end but also have you going back to check on the subtle clues you apparently missed.

Triggers: be warned that His & Hers contains some intense scenes of bullying, grooming, and assault, as well as references to harm done to some poor cats.

I'm a little behind schedule, but holy guacamole! @alicewriterland took me for one heck of a roller coaster ride.

His & Hers was a triple POVs- Anna, Jack, and the killer. I kept thinking I had it figured out, and every time I thought I did, Alice said "not on my watch."

This book had so many twists and was darker than I expected. Everyone had a motive. It was crazy! Do yourself a favor and go pick this book up (or the audiobook- that was great too)!

This was a well done audiobook, with different narrators for each protagonist. It was easy to get into as presented and the story was a fast paced, intriguing thriller.
My only negative is my own unpopular opinion, I am not as huge a fan of the unreliable characters as most. Some of them are great but some diminish the story a bit. Otherwise, it was a decent read.
Recommend the audiobook.

His & Hers - Alice Feeney

I was fortunate enough to get this free audiobook ARC from @netgalley and @macmillan.audio in exchange for an honest review. HIGHLY recommend His & Hers as an audiobook. The story takes place in a small town in England, experiencing some very out of place and grotesque murders. His & Hers flips between the perspectives of an ex-wife and ex-husband who are both covering these murders in different respects, and the CREEPIEST third party, the murderer whose voice is disguised. I thought I had this one pegged time and time again, but didn't know the true identity behind the chaos until it was revealed when I was 95% through! His & Hers is available NOW!

After reading a previous Alice Feeney novel and enjoying it I wanted to give this one a try too. This was a great thriller novel. I like when stories are told from different character’s perspectives.
The narrators chosen for each part I think was a good one. Made them come to life perfectly. The sound quality, flow of story and reading style all went together so well. Made for a wonderful listening experience. I like the added voice changer disguise to the killers voice throughout the story to keep you guessing on who it was. Nice addition.

I just reviewed His & Hers by Alice Feeney. #HisHers #NetGalley #MacmillanAudio

Told from three differed perspectives, this book will keep you guessing until the end! Jack is the detective who is called in on a murder case. Anna, who is Jack's ex-wife, is the reporter covering the story. And then there is the killer's perspective. I kept changing who I thought the killer was throughout the book. A real nail-biter for sure! A must read!

I don’t often listen to audio books the narration often distracts me. The narrators in this were fantastic. This kept me engaged the entire time. I have to admit I felt dumb at the end not suspecting at all who the culprit was.

For some reason this audiobook is not working for me on the app at all. 😭 I am unable to listen to it, and therefore unable to review it. This neutral review does not reflect my feelings of this book - merely my experiance with the NetGalley audiobook experience.

Anna Andrews is newly divorced and just lost her lead anchor position at the news channel she's worked at for years. Jack Harper is her former Husband and Police Detective. He is investigating a murder in their hometown of Blackdown. As it turns out, the victim is someone they both know very well. Anna returns to her childhood home to report on the murder and check up on her Mother who now had dementia. As more women are murdered, the investigation begins to close in on Jack and Anna as suspects. The story jumps back and forth between Jack and Anna's point of view, as well as the unknown murder. It also jumps back and forth between Anna's life growing up and present day. This novel will keep you guessing as well as on the edge of your seat. There are so many twists and turns. The story is phenomenal. I was not able to guess the culprit until right before it was revealed, which is uncommon in other books I've read recently. I listened to this novel as an audiobook and have to say the narrators were terrific. This book is worth the read in any format. Five stars all the way!

I received an audio arc of this book and the narration was perfect. The book had three narrators, one for each of the main characters and one for the "mystery" narrator. I think this worked great since it made the reveal a lot more surprising.

I ended up giving this only 3 stars because I felt the plot itself was average. The author delved too much into the past, I felt we spent more time in the past than in the present. I get that there were two mysteries, but the flashbacks completely brought me out of the story.

The characters were the typical thriller characters we get in almost every book, there was no real depth to any of them. One of the antagonists was mean for no real reason, most of them were actually.

I did, however, like the writing and the big plot twist/reveal at the end. I definitely did not see it coming.

In this epic thriller there’s been a murder in a town by the name of Blackdown. Told from 3 perspectives (Jack the detective, Anna the reporter, and the unnamed killer) were left to try to figure out whodunnit. It’s a story that will keep you on your toes because both Anna and Jack have ties to this dead woman. ⠀

Holy wow. This was a crazy one and I’m glad I FINALLY finished it. I’m decidedly not an audio book person.. I just always forget to make time for them. This was well casted though and the voice of the serial killer alone is enough to freak you out. I enjoyed the back and forth in perspective and there was so many times when I was like Jack’s the killer! No it’s Anna! Errrrgg idk! 😂 When it’s finally revealed my mind was blown. Didn’t see it coming AT ALL. I will say that this book isn’t for everyone. It has some major triggering content due to Anna’s past (gaslighting, rape, grooming etc). If you’re able to stomach the disturbing parts then I say go for it!

"Sometimes I think I am the unreliable narrator of my own life." - This line sums it up, and really made me think about the lies we tell ourselves, and the lies we believe, but tell other people.

I listened to this audio book and it was such an enjoyable story. Do not be put off by the opening voice in the audio book. It's the voice of the killer, and is set in disguise mode. There are only a few, very short chapters in that voice, so even though I found it grating, it does keep the mystery going.

This story is told from three perspectives, His - a detective (narrated by Richard Armitage), Hers - a reporter (narrated by Stephanie Racine), who just happen to be formerly married. As discussed, there is also the voice of the killer. Mutual friends of the husband/wife duo keep ending up killed, by the same person. Evidence also points to each of them being the killer, and they both have things to hide, and things happening to them that they can't remember. It's quite a twisted little tale that kept me guessing and engaged.

I really enjoy Stephanie Racine's narration of the female storyline, and immediately recognized her voice from Alice Feeney's other two books, Sometimes I Lie, and I Know Who You Are. It really ties three Feeney books together nicely, so while they are not a trilogy, it's still nice to hear a familiar voice.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy of the audio book in exchange for this review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was not a typical mystery and how it was written kept me guessing the entire book. And then I was still wrong at the very end. It was exciting and not what I had expected. Everything That happens to Anna was heart breaking. I loved that the ending tied up all loose ends to the characters and makes me wonder what she will do to Priha. The girls in this book were so awful you actually start to agree with the murderer. So well written!

After reading and loving Alice Feeney’s previous novel I was thrilled to learn about her latest novel, His & Hers. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy and was eager to begin reading and I was not disappointed!

As the story goes, there are always two sides to a story. This novel is told from alternating pov’s of the main characters, and told from Jack and Anna’s perspective. I loved the back and forth perspective of them both and hearing their version of how things happened and hear their side of the story. I find it adds to their character development and you get a true sense of their personality as the story is told by them first hand.

Everyone in this story has something to hide, is telling lies, half-truths, and very complex. Who can you believe? With an ending that will shock you and you will not see coming, you are going to love this novel! Be sure to make yourself comfortable when you begin this book, because once you start reading you will not want to stop to put this book down again until you are on the very last page!

Way to go Alice. I am thrilled to see what you come out with next!
