HIS & HERS was my first audiobook from NetGalley. I am very excited about audiobooks being made available to us. It is my preferred way to read so I was extra pleased to love this book so much. I cannot stop raving about it. It was a mystery/thriller with no holes, no twists that lack believability and no clichéd characters. I haven’t read one this well written since Gillian Flynn’s books. And if that wasn’t enough, Richard Armitage narrated the book! Win-win. I will continue to talk this book up all summer. It’s the perfect beach read (even if you can’t go to the beach this year).

Thank you to NetGalley for the audio ARC.

I'm not a huge fan of unreliable narrator trope but I found this story entertaining and engrossing.
The plot kept me hooked and the voices of the narrator gave life to the story making it very engaging.
I recommend this audiobook as I think that the voices made it more compelling.
Many thanks the publisher and Netgalley, all opinions are mine.

What a great listen! It's told in three different voices. His, Her's and the killer. The killer's voice is distorted though, so you can't tell who it is. I listen to audiobooks all the time and love when they have a unique spin like this. I was sure I knew who the killer was many times throughout the book, but Alice Feeney had many tricks up her sleeve. I honestly just sat there at the end of the book for a few seconds, stunned by the reveal.

Great for fans of unreliable narrators! This story is told from the perspectives of a reporter, an detective, and the murderer. However, as you read, it is unclear if the murderer is truly a third character at all. Everyone in this story has a motive, and the author kept me guessing the whole time. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I quickly began to doubt myself again.

If you are thinking about reading it, I highly recommend the audio version. The narrators are amazing and the murderer's sections are especially creepy.

Wow, I could not put this thriller down. Alice Feeney didn’t disappoint in her latest book. Alternating point of view the leader is left wondering until the very end. Highly recommend. Thank you so much to Net Galley for my advanced copy.

His and Hers is the sort of fast-paced gripping thriller that's perfect for summer. I'd call it a great vacation read except that so many of are not going anywhere during this corona summer. Let's call it a great staycation read.

When a woman is murdered, the detective investigating the crime and the TV anchor reporting on the crime find they're both connected to the victim and to each other. They both have secrets and we're never quite sure whether one of them might be the killer.

There's a certain amount of suspension of disbelief that you will need going into this book. Yes, it's a bit much to have the victim, the detective, and the reporter all connected to each other, but once you accept that, the story really takes off and it's hard to put the book down. I'm saying very little about the plot because I think it's better to go in not knowing much. I will say that the plot is twisty and dark, and the mystery is really well done.

I listened to the audiobook, and it's really well done. The narration alternates between Jack (the detective, read by Richard Armitage) and Anna (the reporter, read by Stephanie Racine). Armitage is a great audiobook narrator, and he does a fine job as always. Racine is new to me, and her narration is really well done. There are interludes from the point of view of the killer that are read through a voice distorter, which is very effective and creepy in the audiobook. (I'm sure it's still effective in the book, but perhaps not quite as chilling.)

This is my first ever audiobook and I really enjoyed the story and the narrators. I'd also like to read the book as I'm sure I missed some nuances of the story while listening however that was me being an audiobook novice. Story-wise this book was really strong and I enjoyed it.

I had seen a lot of people say this book was amazing so I was excited to see the audiobook available on Netgalley.

Personally, I enjoyed this book a lot more than "Sometimes I Lied." This one kept me guessing. I thought I had the story figured out but then another twist was thrown in.

I'm very picky when it comes to narrators but the ones for this audiobook did fantastic.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for a review.

'His & Hers' alternates between two very different--but ultimately connected--narrators. There is Anna Andrews, a successful BBC presenter whose job has recently been threatened. DCI Jack Harper is the detective investigating the murder of a young woman in the quiet village of Blackdown, where Anna grew up. Anna is assigned to cover the murder, but it soon becomes clear that she knows more about the victim than she is letting on.

As the story progresses, we learn that both Anna and Jack are hiding things. Either could be a suspect in the murder, and as the body count starts to pile up, the more they both look suspicious.

This book has so many twists and turns! I changed my mind about the suspect many times throughout the book, but I was still wrong in the end. This is a fast-paced, engaging thriller.

Both narrators of the audiobook are excellent. The chapters are short, leaving you wanting to listen to just a bit more to find out what happens next. Recommended to lovers of mysteries and thrillers.

Narrators are so real! Great book, full of surprises, actions, twists and turns. And what an ending?! I definately want to read more of Alice Feeney books.

*I received a copy of this audiobook from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair review.

Thanks @macmillanaudio for the advanced copy of His and Hers, a fast paced thriller. I loved the flashbacks to Anna’s16th birthday and the backstory of her “friends” and that life changing night. Flash forward to today when all the friends start dying, one by one and that leaves the reader to determine who is doing the killing. Trust me, you will be surprised in the end! Pick it up. It will not disappoint

This is a deliciously creepy book! I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the different narrators in addition to the plot line. I love audio books but they are not all equal. The narrators can make or break the story. This one is a real winner. I wasn’t sure whether to root for him or her. And I kept changing my mind. Definitely the sign of a good book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC. I really enjoyed it.

Over 48 hours have passed since finishing His & Hers by Alice Feeney, and I am still processing this book. His & Hers is the darkest phycological thriller I can ever remember reading. It reminded me a lot of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None mixed with 101 Dalmatians.

What I loved about this story and would easily give it a 5 out of 5 stars for, is that you were constantly rethinking who the murderer was. I did have it narrowed down to two people, and the one I suspected more was it, but I could not find a reason to nail the murdered for what they had done. For that reason, I kept second guessing myself. The way Feeney also writes, at the end of every chapter you are left thinking that you were wrong, that this person did it. That continued for a few hours. So, for really making me sit, think, and second guess myself constantly, His & Hers was an incredible read.

Who is telling the truth; Him, Her, or the Killer? The story is told from the points of view of all three of those characters. Each actor had a clear distinct voice, so the listener easily knew who and what was going on. The Killer’s voice did take some time for me to get used to as it was distorted. A very cool effect for the audiobook, but at first, I did struggle to get used to and understand it.

What I wrestled with were the vulgar and disturbing actions that some of the characters did. Some of them were so graphic I had to skim or skip over them. It takes a lot to trigger me when it comes to violence.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the narration and twists in this story, the intensity of some of the violence really put a damper on the overall read for me. For this, I am giving it 4 stars. There are several trigger warnings in this book. I highly recommend reading several reviews to make the best decision for yourself.

I received an advanced audiobook copy from Macmillian Audio through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

This audiobook was AMAZING! The different voice actors really made a difference when listening and being able to keep focus. This dark thriller was a trip to read, every time I thought I had it all figured out it would send some out of the left field with a huge twist. All the way till the very end it kept you guessing. Once you find out who the killer is... it will leave you shocked!

This was my first audiobook and I loved it. Listening and walking on country roads made for a perfect backdrop. The differing characters narrating the story was quite enjoyable. I was completely taken back by the ending - a twist I never saw coming. His & Hers was a fantastic thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Alice Feeney does it again. Anna Andrews has lost everything except her job. Jack Harper has gone through a divorce and is living where he grew up. The link between them? A murdered woman named Rachel.

Based on the premise that there are two sides to a story, His and Hers alternates between the POV of Anna and Jack. It's got a creepy atmosphere, lots of twists, and I did NOT guess the ending. Alice Feeney is the queen of the unreliable narrator and this is no exception. It was a great ride.

My second audio book was much easier to escape into, the narrators did a wonderful job.
I think going in to this one without knowing much about it is best, so I'll keep my synopsis brief.
The story is told in alternating voices between hers, Anna Andrews and his, DCI Jack Harper. There is also a third, sinister voice whose identity is kept secret, that we hear from now and then.
Anna is a news presenter with the BBC. She grudgingly heads to to the small community of Blackdown, where she was raised, to cover a murder. She finds out the victim was a childhood friend.
DCI Jack Harper heads up the investigation into the young woman's murder. He's not sharing the fact that he knew her.
Their accounts flow smoothly back and forth, as the suspense level climbs. It was hard to stop listening, it really captured my imagination.
This was dark and twisted, I never guessed what would happen next. A terrifyingly fun thriller!
Thank you MacMillan Audio for the audio book via NetGalley.

Wow. I absolutely loved the suspense of "His & Hers," the latest roller coaster ride from the UK author, Alice Feeney.

This book, full of twists and turns, is a great reminder that I should definitely read more mysteries. For the thrill of it. Lol. Feeney kept me guessing until the very end, and I finished it within 24 hours. It's really a book you don't want to put down. Or, in my case, it was an audiobook that I didn't want to turn off. In fact, I wanted to increase the narration speed so I could get to the end more quickly to find out what happened!

Macmillan Audio hired wonderful actors-turned-narrators, Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racinedid, to tell the story of Anna Andrews and Jack Harper. They did a wonderful job of keeping me on my toes. And as an American, I always love to hear British accents and terms. Since I read the American version of the novel while listening to the international audio version, I was amazed at how much the book was adapted. (Ex: Snakes and ladders vs. chutes and ladders, nappy vs. diaper, etc.) That made for a fun surprise.

The author, Feeney, spent 15 years working for the BBC, so it's fitting that her female protagonist, Anna Andrews, is a news anchor for the BBC. Over the course of a few days in her life, we are immersed into her world of reporting on serial murders in a small community outside of London. The twist is that she's linked to everyone who was killed. And, at any given point, it seems like any of the characters could be guilty of the crimes.

What's unique about His & Hers is that every other chapter alternates between two points of view... that of Anna, and the detective assigned to the case, Jack Harper. Interestingly, Jack and Anna have a history, too.

I'm very grateful for the opportunity to listen to the e-audio version of this book, courtesy of Macmillan Audio. and Netgalley.

Side note: Richard Armitage is the star of Netflix hit,“The Stranger,” and Stephanie Racine has narrated two other Feeney novels.

What a dark, twisty, crazy ride!

After a personal tragedy, Anna is hitting the bottle hard. She hides her drinking well, but when she loses her temporary BBC presenting job (she was replacing a colleague on maternity leave) and goes back to being a correspondent, she spirals a little.

Fortunately, there’s a murder she can report on, a murder of someone she actually knew. And that Jack, her ex-husband, also knew … intimately. He’s the police investigator assigned to the case.

Then one murder turns into more and Anna and Jack are trapped by their lies, trapped in this village surrounded by creepy woods, and trapped in their sad memories of their broken marriage.

The story is narrated by Anna, Jack, and the murderer, who in the audiobook uses a voice changer. This makes the audiobook a really good choice – the two readers did a great job of making this story come to life.

His & Hers is a seriously twisty book that REALLY keeps you guessing. There were SO many suspects. Anna’s drinking makes her unreliable in a way that kept things feeling just a little off-balance. Just when you think you’ve decided what’s happening, there’s another twist or revelation making you question what you thought before.

Definitely recommend this if you don’t mind a pretty dark book (this was almost too dark for me in parts) and love a lot of twists.

There is no driving force to the end. There’s a lot of obvious set up, so obvious it becomes boring and slow because you know it means nothing. The characters were unlike able. A lot of dialogue was very cringe. I felt icky inside my own head having read such a corny assemble of words. Too many ideas made the story drag. I was felt feeling where are we going with this? Not in a good way. The relationship didn’t feel earned. I could care less. It was not needed. The ending was a joke, a joke that made no sense really and not even really fair. So much about the killer and the motive had me laughing and upset I sat through this to the end. The ending was too long and laughable.
