ѕуиσρѕιѕ: Anna. Rachel. Richard. Zoe. Helen. Jack. Katherine (Kat). The story of His & Hers tells each of their stories - individual and entwined. In the midst of their connected lives, a series of murders take place. Who is behind the murders and why are they ticking them off - one by one? You’ll be surprised by the truth.
му тнσυgнтѕ: I liked the twist at the end. Everything isn’t as it seems. What I didn’t like is how much it went back and forth between people - Lucy Foley does this perfectly in her stories. However, in this book, it was too confusing for me. It might have been because I was listening on NetGalley via an audio version of the book. 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know. However, the story was very shocking (in an entertaining way) and super creepy, especially with the voice of the murder on the audio book!
Oh my gosh!! This book was so good. I don’t want to say much as it’s best to go into this one not knowing anything. If you like a mystery you will like this one. So many twists and turns and I had no idea. I went into this one not really knowing what it was about and was glad I did. The narrators were amazing and really kept me engaged throughout. Definitely one to listen to if you like audiobooks.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook
Armitage and Racine an extraordinarily talented narrators and bring life to this story. From appropriate inflection to diction matching the characters, their joint execution of Feeney's work was excellent. This was truly a twisted pleasure to listen to.
The plot is complex and involves different viewpoints and a mysterious villain (who has a creepy voice), as well as a very strange twist that I can't say I ever saw coming.
There are a number of good books that have similar themes and settings, but I don't think anything comes close to this.
Highly recommended for audiobook listeners who enjoy dark, twisted, and witty psychological thrillers.

Wow. Wow. Wow! ⠀
⠀
If you are a thriller junkie this one will blow your mind. I had no idea who the murderer was the entire book. I have read a lot of thrillers and this one kept me on my toes. ⠀
⠀
I loved the audio with multiple narrators and also the voice distortion commentary by the killer. ⠀
⠀
Thank you @netgalley for an audio copy of this book. ⠀

@alicefeeney you are a genius! Pick up your copy on July 28th.

BOOK REVIEW: HIS & HERS BY ALICE FEENEY

Audio narration rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“There are at least two sides to every story:
Yours and mine,
Ours and theirs,
His and hers.”
This one was twisty, dark, and disturbing! I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration...especially the killer’s voice which was disguised. It was SO CREEPY!!! That being said, I wish I also read it because I feel like I would have gotten more out of it (my attention span is def lacking when it comes to audiobooks in general, so nothing against this one!)
Anyways, I loved how all of the characters were suspicious—I couldn’t guess who the killer was up until the very end and I enjoyed how everything wrapped up.
For this one, there are many trigger warnings: rape, sexual assault, suicide, death of a child, animal cruelty, and bullying. That being said, if you are looking for a dark and twisted thriller, I’d give this one a try!!
I loved this audiobook!! It was the perfect length, it was the perfect narrators and the perfect story. I was enthralled right from the very beginning and I kept developing these theories of what I thought was happening only to be truly blown away by what actually happened.
Essentially the story is of a woman who has to relive some past trauma in her hometown when a woman she knows is murdered. It seems like everyone in the town knows something, and everyone is keeping secrets that keep you on your toes at all times. I also really appreciated the red herrings in this audiobook and usually im not a fan but these were done so well!! PLEASE READ THIS
✏️ “There are at least two sides to every story: Yours and mine. Ours and theirs. His and hers. Which means someone is always lying.”
✏️ “Sometimes I think I am the unreliable narrator of my own life. Sometimes I think we all are.”

When a woman is murdered in Blackdown - a small countryside village, BBC newsreader Anna Andrews is sent to cover the case...reluctantly. Anna soon gets more than she bargains for when she gets caught up in the heart of the case.
DCI Jack Harper never thought he would end up working in Blackdown. When the body of the victim is found, he doesn’t let on that he knew the victim and soon becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation.
One or both of them know more than they are letting on. Someone isn’t telling the truth.

WOW!! This was a very twisty thriller. The author kept me guessing and my opinion of who the killer must be kept constantly changing. Even though I figured out the killer towards the end I was still not 100% sure I was correct. This was a very well written mystery/thriller giving bits of information here and there and when you look back you see most of the clues were there for you to put it together. The story alternates between the present and the past shedding light on the lives of Anna, Jack and the victim. It should be noted there is mention of a sexual assault and animal cruelty within the story.
I listened to the audiobook and I must say I recommend this version of the book. I am one of those people who usually prefer reading the book, but this audiobook was great! From the opening chapter I was taken. The story is told from the points of view of BBC newsreader Anna Andrews, DCI Jack Harper and the killer. The narrators Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine did a fantastic job! The narration was clear and easily understood and the voices matched the characters. I especially loved the voice of the killer. I don’t want to say too much to give anything away so that people could enjoy it as I did – knowing nothing. I definitely recommend! Even if you have read the book, listen to the audio version too if you can. The audio adds so much to the story and immerses the reader into what is happening. I would love to see this adapted for the screen.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and provide an honest review.
Alrighty, I know I am in the minority, but this one was just okay for me. The third narrator was hard to understand (and the audiobook will be terrible for anyone with any hearing impairment). The characters are unreliable and unlikable. Everyone else says they could not figure out who was the culprit, but I figured it out at like 75-80% (she does keep you guessing though). The content was much more gruesome than I expected and I didn’t see anyone else provide content warnings (see mine below, some are spoilery) for this book for things I would have avoided. All that being said, this is an entertaining thriller that will have you, especially at the end, wanting to race to the conclusion to get some answers.

This book was a real breath of fresh air. After reading countless amounts of Suspense thrillers I was really surprised that this really hit the spot of what I was
searching for. A story based on the perspective of a separated, couple both involved with the crime scene in their own way. This gives enough twists to keep you intrigued and guessing right to the very end. I had my suspicion but I was completely wrong and I am rarely wrong.
I listened to the Audio version and I have come across the narrators previously. Their voices added just the perfect amount of suspense for this creepy
tale. I felt my pulse go up when the main character put in an appearance..
Spooky. Well done #aliceFeeney a brilliant follow up book from
the writer of Sometimes I Lie. Very promising author.

I am not a great lover of audiobooks, finding they never really hold my attention like a regular book. When I hear friends say how amazing audiobooks are, I decided to give them another go. This is my first audiobook for Netgalley and I think it may have just changed my mind about listening to books completely.
Jack, a detective in the Major Crimes Division and Anna, a BBC news reader, are divorced following the death of their baby daughter. They are both from a small town where major crime is highly unusual. Until a series of murders brings them back into each other's lives. Old schoolfriends of Anna's are dying, and the only link between the murders is a red friendship bracelet that Anna made each of them at her 16th birthday year earlier. As the death toll rises, Anna wonders... is she next?
There are two sides to every story, sometimes even a third. Told in the alternate POV's of Jack and Anna, and a third unknown, mysterious and exceptionally creepy distorted voice, the background to Jack and Anna's lives is laid bare.
This is an edge of your seat and gripping whodunnit, bringing you down rabbit holes with false clues and red herrings. You think you know who the killer is - in fact you're constantly changing your mind all the way through as suspicion lands on everyone in the story! With plenty of twists and turns and even a couple of fairly shocking moments where I actually gasped, this is a great book to listen to and, to be totally honest, I'm not sure it would be as effective if you were simply reading it. The narrators did a superb job of creating highly atmospheric and creepy scenes and it made for compulsive listening.
Pair all that with a final twist that I'm still thinking about hours later and you've got a thriller that ticks all the boxes. Loved it 5/5
His & Hers is a dark, twisted tale of a group of people who went to high school together. Now in their thirties, Anna Andrews (Her) and Jack Harper (His) are giving us their perspective of the creepy and messed-up story unfolding. They were both going to school at Blackdown, a sad and remote small town outside of London. Now they are both being called on the scene of a crime, her as newscast reporter, him as a crime investigator: the body of a woman has been found in the woods. They both know who this is, but decide to keep it quiet. Why?
This was a hell of a twisted plot, full of vile and ugly characters. Alice Feeney kept me guessing till the very end. I did not know who to trust, the story kept changing directions, I kept pointing fingers at the wrong characters. I am particularly impressed by the way Feeney can set a scene in such a spooky way that you actually feel like you are part of it and you find yourself having goosebumps and your pulse quickens as you go through the scary scene.
Also enjoyed the narrators Stephanie Racine and Richard Armitage.
I want to thank Net Galley, author Alice Feeney and publisher Macmillan Audio for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The hype on this one is real people! First of all, if you’re going to read this (and if a thriller is your thing, then you definitely should) the audio is FANTASTIC! Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine are superb 🎧 And the mysterious third person seriously creeped me TF out!😱 This will keep you guessing constantly, not the way some cheesy thrillers will, but in the “I think I know who did it but I’m really not sure and I’m loving it” sort of way! I had my suspicions throughout, then with 3 hours left I thought it was a slam dunk and wondered, what else was there to listen to in the next 3 hours? Then I was like “oop, maybe not”, then “hmmm”, then “whaaaa”??!! Kudos Alice Feeney, well done🙌🏻
With thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the Audiobook of His & Hers by Alice Feeney. All options in this review are my own.
This is the first book I have read by Alice Feeney, but as soon as I finished His & Hers, I immediately ordered her other works and greatly look forward to reading them.
His - Jack, a policeman with Major Crime Unit in the UK and hers - Anna a BBC news presenter who has recently been demoted to her old job and also Jack’s ex-wife, is told from multiple POVs. Theirs, plus someone using a voice distorter. Can I just say here, the story flowed well and I enjoyed the narration, except for the voice distortion parts. I found them to be muffled and a different volume to the rest of the story.
Anyway, Jack and Anna are drawn back to their hometown where he is grudgingly living, and she never wanted to return to (despite her ailing mother living there) thanks to a series of murders. The victims were girls they went to school with, the creepy link between victims are friendship bracelets Anna made and whichever way you look, everyone is a suspect.
A well written and enjoyable read. 4 ⭐️
I am really excited that NetGalley has audiobook ARCs as I was able to listen to this gripping story on audio. I like to go into all mystery/thriller reads completely blind; I don’t tend to read the synopsis or other reviews so I can be completely surprised by the story.
With that being said, this book kept me at the edge of my seat and it literally kept me guessing until the very end. The end actually shocked me which is very rare when you read a lot of mysteries and thrillers.
There are three alternating perspectives which is very effective with different voices on the audiobook. One of the narrators is particularly creepy on audio and kept me up late at night while reading. I couldn’t stop listening until the end! I will definitely be recommending His & Hers to fellow thriller lovers!
I listened to this book as an audiobook through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was a non stop thrilling narrative told by three point of view, The audiobook narration was fantastic. This one kept me guessing until the end!
All the twists and turns and it took all the way to the end to find out who really done it! There are many sides to each story, his and hers...and the truth...and sometimes it is hard to figure out what that is. Anna is a newscaster and she is being sent back out in the field and her first story turns out to be the case in her hometown and the murder of a woman who used to be her best friend. Add to that, she was with her ex-husband the night before. Oh, but that is only the beginning. Soon, all the "girls" from back in the day are turning up murdered. This story was very, very good and kept me guessing.
**Received this ARC for review in audio form from the publisher via NetGalley**
This audiobook was the best one I have ever listened to! The story was phenomenal, but I highly recommend listening to it over reading it. The narrator was creepy, just as a murderer should be and the his voice and hers voice were perfect as well. The storyline had a huge plot twist and you should honestly go into this read knowing as little as possible.
WOW WOW WOW!!!
What a clever, twisted, and amazing book this was by author Alice Feeney! I listened to the Audiobook on this one and may I add, the narration was phenomenal! Told from two POVs, it left me captivated and wanting to know more right from the very beginning! It kept me guessing and I thought I had it solved, but I was totally and completely blindsided by the ending!!
This is a must read and it’s a Happy Publication Day so go out and get it now!!!
Thanks to @netgalley and @macmillianaudio for allowing me to review such an amazing book. 🤩
Well, that was fun! I do love a twisty, turny psychological thriller, and this one definitely did not disappoint. Don't want to say too much and spoil things, but secrets and connections are hinted at and then slowly revealed. Surprises pop up. The audiobook is so well narrated, including not just the "his & hers" narrators, but a third with a distorted, slightly disconcerting voice. You're kept guessing all through the book, and just when you think you've figured it out, nope. Wrong again. Now I'm excited to read Alice Feeney's first two books, which have been on my radar but I haven't gotten to them yet. They've definitely jumped up the list now.
My thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.
I’ve been hearing good things about this book on social media. I was hesitant to listen because I didn’t like “ I Know Who You Are” but I wanted to give this one a listen. For what it’s worth this was a story that had me guessing who the killer was until the very end. I had 3 suspects and they were all wrong. When the killer and motives are revealed I was let down. Big time.
The audio book production was one of the best I listen to in a long time. The killers voice gave me legit chills every time I listened to their point of view.
