A STANDOUT.
This book belongs on every mystery/thriller lover’s digital or physical shelf.
It is the author’s best book to date, and raises the bar in this category. It definitely will be a (if not the) best of 2020 for me, and one that I will be gifting and recommending long after the year is through.
Go in “blind” (knowing nothing beyond what the blurb discloses), and enjoy the brilliantly told story!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an early listen!
Alice Feeney is such a descriptive writer. I felt like i was truly IN the book. This psychological thriller really did mess with my head. I was questioning things through this whole book. I loved every twist and turn.
The first time I started this audiobook., I was intimidated by the very deep voice at the beginning and had to set the book aside for later. It was hard for me to understand at first. When I came back to the book, of course I learned that this character is using a voice changer to conceal their identity, and the voice only appears on occasion in the audiobook. Other than my initial apprehension about this particular voice, I feel that the narrators did a good job.
This is one of those thrillers where no one is innocent and everyone has something to hide. When women connected to Anna start dying in brutal ways, it is quickly apparent that there is a serial killer. What frustrated me about this premise was that the detective was not proactive at all. When two friends are killed and similar artifacts are left at the scene, you would think that there would be protective measures enacted to ensure no one else in that friend group was in danger. Aside from this, the story was well-constructed. Each time you think the identity of the murderer has been revealed, something happens to prove you wrong. Multiple people have motive, but which one of them acted on that motive?
There are some scenes that warrant a trigger warning for murder, rape, sexual assault, and animal cruelty.
I received a digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and DartFrog Books.
“His and Hers” is a great thriller that kept me on my toes. It tells the story of several murders that are apparently linked together with alternating POVs, including from the murderer. There are carrots left to lead readers to suspect some, which left me second guessing the perpetrator until the very end. My interest remained high all throughout the book. I didn’t really enjoy Feeney’s earlier work, “Sometimes I Lie”, but this was a really good one. 4 stars ⭐️. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy for review.
I was so excited to read this book after reading so many incredible reviews but this one did not work for me. I have tried justifying my opinion without giving away any spoilers.
I liked the way the story unfolds with his (detective Jake Harper), her (Anna Andrews), and the Killer’s (Unknown) narratives.
The characters were so unlikeable and I could not relate with any one of them. This is one of the most twisted, brutal, and bizarre books I have read this year. The murders were so violent and I could not tolerate it any further when I came across the cat mutilation and abuse. I wished I DNFd it but some how I just wanted it to end.
I felt extremely terrible about the character named Catherine or Cat Jones in this book. You will understand what I am talking about if you have read this book. The ending was so unrealistic and far-fetched.
I'm a sucker for books that keep me guessing until The End, and that's what His & Hers did. Alice Feeney is a pro at mind games - both with her characters and readers. In this book, women who all have past ties with each other are being murdered. The story unfolds through three points of view - those of BBC Anchorwoman Anna Andrews, DCI Jack Harper and the killer. The waters quickly become muddied when its learned that both Andrews and Harper also have ties to the women.
Anna is living her dream job as the noontime anchorwoman of the BBC's News. But when a past anchor returns from maternity leave, Anna is bumped back down to the correspondent position she held previously. She's sacrificed everything for the anchor job including her marriage and sanity. Now alone with her alcohol, she's angry and resentful. When Jack sees the first woman's body, he's shocked to learn she's the woman he spent the previous night with having sex. His life is getting ready to change forever. And then there's the killer who kept me guessing right up until the end.
Feeney has rendered another twisted, gripping psychological thriller in His & Hers. The ominous vibes drives the maddening pace forward through to the shocking end. The small town setting adds to the creepy vibes and darkening tone. I highly advise you go into this story blind and let it carry you away as I promise it will! His & Hers is a dark, creepy thriller that I recommend to fans of mystery, suspense and thrillers. If you get a chance to listen to this one on audio, do so as the narrators bring this thriller to life.
(4.5)
This book is as good as the ratings show would lead you to believe it is. It’s written in such a unique voice you can’t help but get sucked in within just a few paragraphs.
Newscaster Anna Andrews is sent to the town of Blackdown, reluctantly, to cover a murder. She’s not fond of the town she grew up in. Detective Jack Harper and his partner Pryia are two of the first people on the scene and Jack’s not exactly thrilled about this one. When Anna shows up with her cameraman, Jack becomes suspicious of her involvement. As time goes by though, he too begins looking guilty. As more time goes by, so does everyone else.
There are a whole lot of secrets out there and there are a lot of people not talking about them. When more people begin showing up dead, things become increasingly out of Jack’s control.
I really can’t tell you much about this because it’s such a step by step story, as a good thriller often is. This story is told from multiple points of views. You have that of His, Hers, and the Murderers. It’s a really cool way to tell the story because you get everyone's perspective of everything going on. With Anna’s, you get a lot of past history that sheds a lot of light on things that are piling up. This will have your head spinning and make you start suspecting someone or more than one person. Maybe you’ll figure it all out. Whether you do or not it really doesn’t matter because the way this is written, the last 20/25% will have you hanging on the edge of your seat with anticipation. The payoff is worth it.
Now that I’ve told you all about the book itself, I’ll take some time to tell you about the audiobook. It’s absolutely brilliant. You have three different points of view but two different narrators. It’s narrated by Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine and they are incredible. The murderer's voice is a distorted voice and the narrator is so good with it. It freaked me right out the first time I heard it. I was in the kitchen getting dinner ready, all alone in the house, and that voice came loudly into my ears through my headphones. I was ready to grab a frying pan and start swinging!
Not only are the voices really good, the audio quality is great as well. This is the perfect book for audio and having it recorded so well with the perfect blend of voices worked amazingly.
I think this book can easily be enjoyed as an audio or by just reading it but for me the audio edges out just reading because the voices are a perfect fit for the characters as I imagined them. This is a brilliant audio and book in general and I highly recommend both!
***Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, the author, and anyone else out there I may have left off for the review copy of this audiobook. I can’t thank you enough. It’s incredible! Thank you so much!***
Alice Feeney is quickly becoming one of my favorite thriller writers. Her stories are always engaging, addictive, and filled with twists. When I sat down with this book, I honestly didn't know where I would end up by the finish. And oh...how wonderful that is.
When Audiobooks first started on NetGalley, I wasn't sure how they worked and I didn't download this audiobook prior to the archive date and therefore, I couldn't listen to it.
The audiobook for His & Hers is a must listen! The narrators did a fabulous job bringing this twisty novel to life. There is a lot going on, and the mystery narrator had me feeling on edge! This is definitely a for fans of suspense and thrill, who also love the darker side of the genre.
Audiobooks are new to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of listening to Richard Armitage’s delicious voice. I have long been a fan of his. I don’t want to give anything away, because the best way to go into His & Hers is to go in blind, with no idea of what you’re stepping in to. I will say that at several different points, I was sure I had things figured out, only for Alice Feeney to knock me off my feet with another unexpected twist. Highly recommended!
This was a dark, twisty, psychological thriller that was hard to put down. Great narration on audio. Highly recommend it.
Audiobooks are not a given for me, which is why most of the ones I listen to are library finds/gifted. His & Hers is one of the best to me, as they hired a male and female for the voices, and it shows how much a little effort in that front can really impact my enjoyment!
His & Hers follows two exes, he a policeman, she a television reporter. After a tragedy that ended their marriage, they are brought together by a murder that throws them back together. That’s all I will say, because the twists and turns, the narration of their versions of events, are worth going in blind. My favorite kind of thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the copy!
This was a really dark, twisty, well-paced thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed! I really loved the narration and how it simplified the character identification for me. This type of book is so worth the audiobook. This was a wild ride. If you’re looking for a thriller packed with murder that will keep you engaged and guessing the entire time, this book might be for you. Thanks to Alice Feeney, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the opportunity to audio-read His & Hers.
This was a fast pace book that I couldn’t put down! I loved the incredible audiobook narrators that made the book come alive. Thank you for the advanced reader copy

WoW Ok I just said yesterday that I haven't read a 5 star book lately. Well I just finished it!
His & Hers By Alice was one of the most amazing books I've read to date!

There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying.
Anna Andrews finally has what she wants. Almost. She's worked hard to become the main TV presenter of the BBC's lunchtime news, putting work before friends, family, and her now ex-husband. So, when someone threatens to take her dream job away, she'll do almost anything to keep it.
When asked to cover a murder in Blackdown--the sleepy countryside village where she grew up--Anna is reluctant to go. But when the victim turns out to be one of her childhood friends, she can't leave. It soon becomes clear that Anna isn't just covering the story, she's at the heart of it.
DCI Jack Harper left London for a reason, but never thought he'd end up working in a place like Blackdown. When the body of a young woman is discovered, Jack decides not to tell anyone that he knew the victim, until he begins to realise he is a suspect in his own murder investigation.

This is told from 2 POVs Jack Harper who is a Detective & Anna is who News Reporter & we occasionally hear from the killer!
This book had me questioning everyone around. I loved how this story was portrayed & how it was told.
There was so many plot twist. Loved every second of it!
You start to think you know who is out for revenge..... Bam something happens & your guessing again!
This is like something that really could happen in real life.... I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. (Not that I'm a creeper or anything) 😂
This story does have some trigger warnings-- child lose, sexual assault, bullying!
I have not read a book like this yet.
And Holy Cow can I just say that ending!?!? What??? I was completely shocked!
This is my first 5 Star Review here on Bookstagram!😍

Thank You NetGalley/Publisher & Author for this gifted e-ARC!
This type of book is so worth the audiobook. I ended up getting a chance to listen to the audio from NetGalley, and I was hooked. This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning. The voice actors are fantastic, they really help ground the book. This thriller is told from both the male and female perspective, and having two actors was very enjoyable. The main cast is Jack Harper, a detective in the town of Blackdown where a murder has just occurred, as well as "hers", his former wife Anna Andrews. I didn't know where this book was going to go, and I kept thinking I had it pinned down and something changed, and I was left guessing again. I enjoyed that the audiobook disguised the voice to help the mystery. It's a tactic you can only get in the audio format, but that's why I am recommending it. It's engaging, interesting, and you won't want to stop listening. I tend to listen while cleaning and working out, and I was actually bummed when I had to go back to real life. I highly recommend this book if you're interested in thrillers. It's worth it to grab the audio and get lost in this story.
I was curious about this one because Netgalley just introduced audiobooks. I read thrillers only occasionally, and I loved it! I was instantly drawn to the story. There are two narrators in this audiobook, and both are excellent. I don't think I should reveal any plot in this case. The story itself is very gripping, and there are some twists and turns, and you will always want to know more and won't be able to stop listening.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this! All opinions are my own.
I absolutely devoured this book. It did not disappoint. If you want a twisty thriller and an unreliable narrators you will definitely enjoy this one.
Settle in for a bumpy ride.
His & Hers is a decent thriller that I think works well with the dual narrative style. It's a good story and I recommend it to thriller readers who want a propulsive read
