I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook version of His &Hers by Alice Feeney. Once I listened to the first couple of chapters, I was totally compelled by the story masterfully delivered by the narrators Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine.
There are three points of view: Anna Andrews, a BBC presenter who has just lost her dream position of a news presenter and has to go back to being a reporter, her ex-husband DCI Jack Harper, and a distorted voice of a murderer who goes on a killing spree in a little village Annna and Jack grew up in. Anna is sent to cover the story of a female body/ possibly murder victim being discovered in the woods. Jack is the police officer investigating the case. As the events keep unfolding and bodies start piling up, we see more and more links to both Anna and Jack and their past. There seem to be plenty of clues in the chapters told from the murderer's point of view to keep the listener guessing, thinking they have it all figured out only to hear another clue in the following chapter that would seem to point in the direction of another suspect.
The two narrators did a wonderful job of rendering the emotions the characters were going through and made sure the secondary characters also sounded unique.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to all lovers of psychological thrillers who enjoy a dark suspenseful read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

His & Hers is a psychological thriller by Alice Feeney that will keep you guessing from the start till the end and when you think you have figured out who the killer is at the very next moment you will find yourself wrong again. The writing is admirable, bit by bit revealing shocks and twists all the way through, rather than just doing it at the end. The book is full of good metaphors and quotes.
Now the plot Anna Andrews is a BBC TV presenter and Jack is a detective both are covering a murder in Blackdown. Both Anna and Jack know the victim very well and have a deep connection with her. I don’t want to reveal much as you have to figure it yourself (you can also read the synopsis in comments).
The book shifts POV between Anna and Jack and an occasional inner monologue of the killer. I am in audiobooks for quite a while and I can say the narrators have done a great job. I felt like I am in the heads of the characters.

If you like reading mystery, thriller, crime, and suspense you need to read this one or add it to your TBR list. It’s a page-turner and is definitely a good read

"There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers. Which means someone is always lying."

Hot damn, this was good! This is one of the best twisty thrilling books I've read in a while. It kept me guessing and at the edge of my seat the entire time.

The character development is excellent and every character is unlikable, superbly broken and dysfunctional. The story unfolds through different POVs, all ridiculously unreliable and their voices will have you suspecting EVERYONE! The plot moves at a perfectly dark and creepy pace, drawing you in more and more.

Well done, Alice Feeney!

If available, try to listen to this one via audiobook, as the narrators all did an amazing job.

A huge thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio and Alice Feeney for making this available via audiobook and allowing me the opportunity to give my honest and personal review.

WOW!!

I started reading this, then a few chapters in started listening to the audio book. I DEFINITELY recommend listening!

I loved the narrators. Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine sounded exactly as I’d imagined, especially Stephanie as Anna. The distorted voice threw me completely!

At several points in the story I was convinced I knew who the killer was and accused each character at least once.

I didn’t particularly like either Jack or Anna, but I’m not sure we’re meant to. In fact, each of the characters had some awful traits.

Feeney’s writing is fast paced and gripping, exactly what you want from a thriller!

The book loses a star because I didn’t like the ending. I was disappointed and wrong with my guess!

I’ll definitely be looking out for more of Alice Feeney’s work.

Thank you netgalley, Macmillan audio, Flat Iron books and Alice Feeney.

My first audiobook from NetGalley! I am thrilled that they have started offering this service. I consume two to three audiobooks per week, and this will certainly help my ability to review future titles.

Now on to the book, and a follow up on specifically the audio after.

I liked this book, although I didn't love it, for reasons I will elaborate on. I thought it was well written, very engaging, a real page turner, and had an ending that I wasn't suspecting. I loved the creepy sense of foreboding throughout, as we waited for another body to fall. What I wasn't crazy about was the drunken protagonists. It just seems too many novels in the last few years have relied on this trope, and it turned me off from fully engaging in this book. I'm looking for something fresh and new in my thrillers, and this just made it fall into the category of "been there, seen that".

The audio was fantastic! I loved that there was a male and female narrator (so important when listening so you don't get the "his and hers" mixed up :) I also thought it was brilliant to distort the voice of the killer when they were narrating. Overall a top notch job on the audio production of this one.

So excited Netgalley has started doing audiobooks because I LOVE a good audiobook and this is definitely one of them.

If I had to describe this book in one word it would be WHIPLASH

This was such a fantastic read. I’ve said how much I love unreliable narrators and this book definitely leaves you so unsure who to believe.

Very early on I guessed who our killer was. I was so sure. Then as we go on the story and twists are revealed I was so unsure.
I changed my mind on who was guilty so many times. Alice Feeney has me so confused and on the edge of my seat.
If you enjoy super suspenseful domestic thrillers where literally everyone has secrets then you will love this one.

Also I highly recommend listening to this on on audiobook as well!
The performances were great and the chapters narrated by the killer with the distorted voice gave me chills!

This book had so many twists and turns that at the end of each chapter I had a dramatic jaw drop. I was able to consume this book in 2/3 days and it was insane! I'm still processing the story and who did it but I would highly recommend this book. Feeney does an incredible job with regards to the character development, atmosphere, twists and turn, and complexity of the story.

I can't wait to see what other stories this author has and the stories she has in store for us!

I absolutely loved the voices used for this audiobook! The disguised voice is spine tingling and really adds to the creepy feel of this story. His & Hers is full of twists and turns all the way to the last chapter and it constantly kept me guessing!! Loved the audiobook and would highly recommend!

Well, I sure didn’t see that ending coming! His & Hers, my first Alice Feeney novel, took me on a dark thrill ride of disturbing twists and turns. I chose to listen to his book via NetGalley’s new audio format and was quite pleased with the experience. The book started off a little slow, but quickly picked up a frenetic pace. The story is told back and forth from two points of view; hers is Anna Andrews a BBC TV reporter, his is DCI Jack Harper, Anna’s ex-husband. To make it even more interesting there is a third point of view, the murderer whose disguised voice is creepy and unnerving.

Anna loses her broadcasting job to the original reporter, Cat Jones, who returns from maternity leave. She is sent back to her hometown of Blackdown Woods to cover the murder of a local woman who is known by both Anna and Jack. Soon more murders occur, and it is evident that Jack is under suspicion. Anna, already an alcoholic, is drinking more heavily from old hurts resurfacing. The two of them are in a race to solve the case.

Several times I thought I had it all figured out, but I was very wrong! Feeney’s master writing skills, plot, and character development made this an excellent read for me. There were some gruesome scenes in the book that may make some uncomfortable. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read/listen to this book. I look forward to more Alice Feeney books. I gave it four stars.

4.5 stars for compulsive readability (or is it listenability?)

How much can you like a character who says Mondays are their favorite day of the week?

This book has got some twists and turns and, as the story progresses (and goes back in time), there are reasons to dislike (or truly abhor) almost every character. Likewise, the author is able to cast doubt everywhere. The writing is very good, creating atmosphere and imagery while keeping the story moving at a breakneck pace. In fact, I think this is the type of book that warrants a reread. Maybe that's just me because I'm still shook and trying to decide if the ending was brilliant or maybe less so.

This is my first audiobook through netgalley, and it was a frustrating experience as the app would stop mid-section and I would often have to unlock my phone between sections to remind the app to keep going. Despite this, I recommend the audio version. The narration is absolutely superb, the type I would recommend for someone new to audiobooks.

Wow what a read! A thriller that will keep you on your toes. It's full of suspense, twists and turns, and questions of "what?", you keep asking yourself.

A reporter, Anna, takes the seat of anchorwoman Cat, (Catherine) on the major British news channel BBC, when she takes maternity leave. Anna loves her new position becoming the new anchorwoman, however Cat returns after two years putting Anna back in her reporter position and she's not happy!

A detective, Jack, is put on the case of a local murder in the town Blackdown. He discovers that he knew the murdered victim and knew her quite well. Like any crime scene, reporters start arriving and he discovers the first one there is his ex-wife, Anna.

The story goes from there. Bringing up a horrifying past that just wants to be forgotten to an unpredictable and unexpected future, and a serial killer on the loose.

It took a while to figure out who the killer was, and that was okay, because the book was about finished, only to discover I was completely wrong and my jaw dropped!

This is a five star book and I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to give my honest opinion and honest review.

This author is absolutely brilliant! This book was written from three different point of views- his, hers, and the murderers. We loved listening to it on audiobook because the three different voices made it very easy to keep up with the storyline.

The story takes place over a few days, but never felt rushed. The author dropped tiny details throughout the book to keep you on your toes about what the truth may be behind what happened to the victims. We would think we would know who the killer was, only to be pulled in a different direction the next chapter.

The end of each chapter made us hungry for more and the end of the book blew our minds! Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a murder mystery novel.

I want to thank Netgalley and Flatiron books for this advanced copy of His and Hers by Alice Feeney in exchange for my honest review.
Alice Feeney is one of my most favorite authors, I love her writing style and this book was just as fantastic as all her others.
There is someone killing all of Anna's friends from high school and her ex husband who is a cop is investigating it may be the killer. However, it could be several other people as well as you will see as you read.
What I love about this book is as usual the writing has a creepy feel to it which I just love ...nothing is just normal.
As you go on the voyage into this story you really don't know who the killer is
You might think you do...then change your mind several times throughout the book only to be hit with a huge twist at the end.
This was a fantastic book. I loved loved loved it ! I definitely give this 5 🌟 ⭐🌟 ⭐ 💫
Grab this one when comes out

Oh, Alice Feeney. You had me at Richard Armitage and Stephanie Rancine. Here’s my reader confession: I pick audiobooks by the narrator. There, I said it. I search and read something just for the narrator finding the best stories and authors I may not have otherwise.
A twisted, mind bending, atmospheric suspense thriller His & Hers on audiobook is a binge-worthy listen. Clear your day, afternoon, night, and don’t expect to sleep. Told in three alternating voices. ‘His’ DCI Jack Harper, a detective. ‘Hers’ Anna Andrews, a news reporter. The third is the murderer, the only one who will be telling the truth. There are connections between Anna, Jack and the victim. The twists, and turns are expertly woven by Alice Feeney, every time I thought I knew what was going to happen I was wrong. I was guessing until the very end. If you’re specifically sensitive to material containing animal cruelty or sexual abuse vet this book personally for content.
I highly recommend His & Hers on audiobook. Narrators Richard Armitage and Stephanie Rancine are both outstanding, hypnotic, unreliable. The use of the third unidentified narrator as the murderer is effective and bone chilling. It adds to the suspense.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced listen copy and the chance to review His & Hers by Alice Feeney. All opinions are my own.

This Thriller was sensational!

First I devoured it! I had to keep keep listening.
The writing kept me interested.
I loved the multiple narrators as it gave more value to the story.

The ending is completely unpredictable.
And also the motive comes clear until the very end which I loved.

This is my first Alice Feeney book. And now I really want to check her backlist

Alice Fenney does it again!. A twisted tale where anyone could be the suspect. The story switched between two of the main characters, and an unknown. Each could be the one who is responsible for the murders. We follow them all as they try to determine who is at fault. Each of them leads them to the other while also doubting themselves...Could they have done it? A fast paced read, with lots of twists and turns.

This is the thriller I have been searching for this summer. I can’t find one single thing to critique about it! Anna is a newscaster for BBC and Jack is a detective in Blackdown (their hometown). They separated after the death of their daughter as they were unable to overcome their grief together. Anna is drawn home when she is asked to report on a woman who is found murdered. When she arrives, she discovers her ex-husband is the lead investigator. Both Anna and Jack know more about the victim than they are willing to let on. It soon appears that they are both implicated in more ways than one as the body count starts to pile up.

I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version of this thriller. Gifted to me by @librofm and @netgalley from @macmillanaudio, it has 3 different narrators as the story flips back and forth between Anna, Jack and the murderer’s point of view. I loved the complexity of Anna and Jack’s characters and their back story. The plot was a total rollercoaster and Feeney is great at misleading and misdirecting the reader. The elements that really clinched this as a five star for me was the fact that I had NO clue who the killer was at the end. I thought I had it figured out five times and each time, I was wrong. The suspense is built and I ended up bingeing the last thirty percent which I never do in an audiobook. This is by far one of the best thrillers I have ever read/listened to!

There are two sides to every story, and someone isn't telling the truth.

When a murder takes place in a small countryside town, Anna, a presenter for BBC news is asked to cover it. There, she runs into her ex husband Jack, who is a detective on the case.

What Anna and Jack know that others don't, is that they're from this town. And they know the victim.

Told in the alternating perspectives of Anna, Jack, and the mysterious killer, this one had me coming up with all of the theories until the very end when suddenly all of the puzzle pieces came together. The audio was incredible; I found myself reaching to listen with every spare moment

A brilliantly intriguing and twisty mystery, with elements of horror and psychological aspects. I expect nothing less from Alice Feeney!

His and Hers was so much more than I expected. It promised a mystery, sure, but it offered a perfect blend of adult suspense and high school drama. The flash-backs, interspersed with the multiple points of view, delivered a well-paced story. Nothing was revealed too early, and no explanations were rushed.

The author made sure to leave plenty of Red Herrings throughout the novel, leaving readers to guess the motives of every character, and their intentions. It all tied up perfectly together, leaving me with a sense of satisfaction.

Feeney did a brilliant job of giving each character their own unique voice. This made reading the book in an audiobook format even better; the narrators perfectly intoned the characters' voices. That, along with the chilling atmosphere of Blackdown, ensured an unforgettable story.

A huge thanks to Netgalley and MacMillan audio for providing me with an ARC.
