His and Hers by Alice Feeney is my first AudioBook in English Language and first audiobook I have read and reviewed for Netgalley. It is recorded by Macmillan Audio and is narrated by Richard Armitage and Stephanie Racine.

What can I say in one word? Being an audiobook it is way much more scary story… Trust me…

There are no two sides to any story. There are at least three. And you will find it out when you read this book. And yes, when there is a choice between two.. always choose… I will leave it up to you.

What can I say? I could not turn this book of. I wanted to. Trust me, there are a few places where you get really scared or disgusted and you really need to scip a few pages but you can’t as it is audio book. And the voices keep talking, they keep unravelling the story whether or not you want to hear more…. But you do. You really do. You want this nightmare to end.

His and Hers is about a bunch of the unlikeable characters. Honestly, I could not like or feel for any of them. They are so bad, rude, obnoxious, cheating, scheming, drinking, sleeping around to the point you really want something bad to happen to them. But when it does you really want perpetrator to be caught.

I did not like Anna, the main character. I could not stand her as a woman, as a daughter, as a mum or even as a professional (reporter). Her ex-husband Jack was no better. Anna’s mum was a bit of a sorry cause (as seen through her daughter’s eyes).

Well, her daughter, Anna, saw everything through a very screwed set of lenses. But she run away. Anna left that hell that her hometown turned out to be as soon as she could. Did she make good? No, she didnot. Even leaving evil of teenage clique behind Anna kept making mistakes only to end up in her hometown in the middle of series of murders of the members of that damned high school clique.

Who can she turn to? Is she going to be saved? Is she going to make something of her life? Will any of them be redeemed?

Did I tell you that story was scary? The story was scary to the very last word. It was so thrilling, gory, scary and scarry, horrific to the point it was absolutely believable. And without spoiling the story, I’d like to finish by saying… even though I did not like a single charachter in this book I ended up identifying with one of them…

One can never know one’s limits…

This was an excellent mystery/thriller. Alice Feeney's writing always grabs you right from Chapter 1. I loved the alternating viewpoints and it kept me guessing until the very end! I can't wait to read more of Alice Feeney's future novels.

Wow! I really loved this audiobook and I was amazed and surprised at the ending as I thought I had everything worked out, but obviously not. The ending was not what I was expecting at all!

The book is about a policeman called Jack Harper and his ex wife Anna Andrews, who is a news presenter for the BBC. They both get involved in solving a thrilling story from their past which has been bringing about the murders of people they know. The story is told from both of their points of view (his and hers), as well as additional writing from the murderer.

The characters of the book and the story are very interesting and just when you think you understand something, the story shoots off in a different direction. It is like being on a fast train but never knowing where you are going next. I didn't want to get off the train and I wanted it to keep going. The book was very fast paced and exciting and I kept wanting to read on to find out who the murderer was.

The audiobook narrator was fantastic and they really made the story come alive.

I highly recommend this book. It is so good and I will read more of this author's work in the future.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Alice Feeney’s His and Hers tells the story of a small town homicide which is investigated by a police officer and journalist who are a divorced couple and who apparently have some kind of connection to the murder victims. It was a dark thriller with unexpected twists and a completely surprising ending. There were still some loose ends at the end tho, so I am going with 4/5

Dang, I deleted my library hold as I thought I had time to read this one on here, so I may not be reviewing the eBook version for awhile as I put the book back on hold.
RATING: 1.5 STARS
2020; Macmillan Audio

I was so excited when NetGalley started having audiobooks for request. His & Hers was my first audio approved, but alas I didn't realize you only had a few weeks to download and listen. SO it was archived. The library came to the rescue, as usual, and I was able to get it from the eLibrary. I enjoyed Feeney's last two novels, so this effort felt worth it. I was interested for the first 20% and then I just continued to listen because I like the author. I wasn't invested in the characters, not just because they were unlikable, but they didn't seem real. Once Rachel was introduced, I didn't care for the story. I won't say too much more about the novel, as anything could be a spoiler. If you read this book, please check your need for realism at the beginning.

*** 4-4.5 stars ***

I loved this audio book so much but I also think this would be a stellar read.
Anna Andrews has worked her way up to become BBCs lunchtime news presenter. Her ex-husband, Jack Harper is a detective and investigating a murder in Blackdown, a village where Anna grew up. The victim in the murder turns out to be one of Anna's childhood friends.
Both Anna and Jack become involved in the investigation and the story alternates back and forth from each of their point of views. There is a third point of view thrown in which is the culprit disguised. In the audio version, this is a person with a voice changer that sounds sooo creepy!! The his and her narrators were phenomenal as well and I really felt immersed in the story.
This was a great mystery that kept me guessing until the very end.
Highly recommend!

Special Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing this advanced audio version in exchange for an honest review.

His & Hers by Alice Feeney

308 Pages
Publisher: Flatiron Books
Release Date: July 28, 2020

Fiction (Adult), Psychological Thriller, Mystery & Suspense

What can I say about this book? That I stayed up all night reading it? That I recommended it to close friends when I finished it? That I read parts of it aloud to my husband? The answer is all of the above! I loved this book. It is probably one of the best books I have read in a long time!

The story is two from two perspectives: His & Hers. The “His” is DCI Jack Harper investigating a brutal murder of a woman he knows. The “Hers” is Anna Andrews a news anchor for the BBC. The writing is superb and written in first person point of view. The characters are well-developed, the story is fast-paced, and the plot has more twists than I could count. Not only did I read this book, I also listened to the audiobook version. The narrator sounds like Idris Elba which made the story even better.

Wow! The narrations for this book really set it apart for me.

There are two sides to every story...and I loved that this story was told from alternating perspectives. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but it’s fair to say that this Was a twisty and exciting thriller. And I never knew what was coming next!

Big thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an advanced listen of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those books that grabs and won't let go. It's a fantastic story and I did not figure out what was going on until the very end! If you are a mystery fan then you will absolutely love this one as well. Also the narrator was fantastic!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It held my attention from the very start and I looked for more and more opportunities to escape so I could listen to it on my own. The plot was great, credible, eerie, full of suspense. Anna's and Jack's characters were well written. They were likeable and the dynamics in the story worked well. I loved the narration and was very creeped out at times, which was the intention. Overall I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Not my favorite Alice Feeney novel, but still quite good. The different voices in the audio kept me engaged and added some depth to the story.

If you are the type who loves the wildest rollercoaster at an amusement park...then you are gonna love His & Hers! Feeney takes you on a wild ride unfolding in the present with loops back to the past and fills it with enough twists & turns to make the reader want to hang on for dear life, because it is next to impossible to see what is coming next. Have already recommended this audiobook to some & they love it from track 1!

This was absolutely fantastic - the storyline was brilliant and the twists and thrills were really unique and well thought out.

I loved the voices used particularly the deep, dark narrator for the murderer.

Unfortunately the audiobook would not download at all on netgalley and I ended up having to wait to get it off my library.

4.5 Stars only because I figured out the twist at 50%. This book was a whirlwind of who did it and what is going to happen, hidden identities and secrets. The story is told from 3 POV, His, Hers and the Murderer's. It is written in such a way that you think ANYONE could be the murderer.
Anna Andrews is a news reporter who will do anything to keep her job as presenter, but when she is demoted back to her correspondent job and is pushed to take an assignment in her hometown, There is a body of a woman found, a woman she is connected to. By going home, she will have to face her past, as well as her ex husband.
Jack is a detective and also has ties to the murder victim, but his aren't from too long ago, he was with her the night she died. Oh, and he is Anna's ex husband. He is investigating a murder that is close to him and when other murders end up happening to people connected to him, is he a suspect too?
This book was crazy twisty and gave me some serious anxiety, but I think it was more about Anna and Jack's relationship and how painful it was more than the actual "thriller" aspect. I wasn't expecting that.
It is a great read and the narration was fantastic.

This was a great thriller - the narration in this was great! The story goes back and forth between Jack and Anna.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy and my second audiobook with them. This is a fun, twist on a murder “who done it” book, told in three voices, HERS-Anna Andrews, a news reporter with many secrets, including a tumultuous high school experience; HIS- Jack Harper, a lonely, jaded police detective with a failed marriage and death of his first born; THE KILLER. You soon realize that everyone is hiding things, that everyone is connected, and anyone could be the serial killer.
I really enjoyed this book, especially as an audiobook. And I didn’t predict who the killer would be, which is a big bonus!

I needed a few minutes after finishing to put the plot in perspective.
A newscaster is demoted to correspondent upon the return of her coworker from a lengthy maternity leave. Anna returns to her hometown to investigate the brutal murder of a school friend.
Anna's ex-husband, Jack, leads the investigation. He was also having a sexual relationship with the victim.
The story is told from Jack and Anna's perspectives, each chapter devoted to one voice. Jack relays details of the investigation. Anna as well with the addition of her memories of friends at school.
The third voice belongs to the killer.
This book grabbed my attention immediately. Fast paced, amazing suspense. My suspicions shifting. Kept me guessing to the end.
A few details with dramatic scene at the end confused me. Even after the six months later update, I had confusion.
The audio version is very well done. Seperate voices for each character. The killer's altered voice lent a serious chill to the words.
Overall great read. I highly recommend.

Trigger warning - SIDS, infant death; themes persistent throughout the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

Whoa. Wow. I was convinced I figured out this book multiple times and then another little breadcrumb was thrown out and I said NOOOOOO! No way! It was a fun, thrilling ride for sure. Very entertaining. I enjoyed the female and male narration, the distorted voice could be a bit difficult/annoying, but it is important to the telling of the story. Definite trigger warning.

Would recommend to friends. 4/5 stars.
